00:00In the name of the Lord be praised. It's such a great joy and privilege for all of us to
00:05have
00:06this blessed and beautiful morning, to see the beautiful creation of God, and to look ourself
00:12to thank Him for the blessed day and the faithfulness and the goodness of God from
00:18all our lives. Let's pray. Almighty God and merciful Heavenly Father, and God our Father
00:25in heaven, we come before your presence this morning to thank you, to remember what you have
00:33done in each of our lives. Precious Lord, this morning as we prepare our hearts for your divine
00:39word, we pray and we ask you that you will give your word for us and strengthen us and prepare
00:47us
00:47for your coming. Teach us your will and your purpose for all of our life, that we might see the
00:53beauty
00:54of your word, and to write it upon the tablet of our hearts. In Jesus' name we ask and we
01:00pray. Amen.
01:03This morning, if you have your Bible with me, turn with me to the Gospel of John chapter 10.
01:11Through all the Gospel of John, there were seven sayings that Jesus Christ declared Himself
01:19that I am. In John chapter 6, Jesus said that I am the bread of life. In John chapter 14,
01:29that Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. But in John chapter 10, that Jesus Christ
01:37called Himself, I am the good shepherd. One question we have to wait up here and think.
01:44If Jesus Christ is called Himself as the good shepherd, then who are His sheep?
01:52Psalm chapter 100 and verse 3, we are His people and the sheep of His pastor.
01:59Psalm chapter 23 and verse 1, the Lord is my shepherd and I shall not want.
02:06David was also a shepherd for his sheep before he was being anointed as a king for the people of
02:12Israel.
02:14But he understood who he was before the Lord and said, I am a sheep and He is my shepherd
02:22in my life.
02:24This morning, friends, the Lord is asking us a question.
02:27Who is your shepherd in your life?
02:30Or by whom are we being led our life on this earth?
02:37Come back to the gospel of John chapter 10.
02:41This morning, we're going to study on why Jesus is called as the good shepherd.
02:48And what does the good shepherd does in the Bible?
02:52The very first thing is turn with me to John chapter 10 and verse 28.
02:59Neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
03:04The first one, the good shepherd will protect his sheep.
03:10Jesus said that no man can pluck you and me out of his hand.
03:16We are secure in the hands of God.
03:20There is security for each of our life in His precious hand.
03:27In 1 Samuel chapter 17 and verse 34 and verse 35.
03:31When David was feeding the sheep of his father.
03:37And the Bible says there came a bear and there came a lion.
03:43And took up a lamb, a sheep from its flock.
03:52And David was not calm.
03:55He didn't say, I have many sheep.
03:58Or he didn't say, why should I need to care of the sheep?
04:01Which the sheep or the lion which was been taken up.
04:06He went after it.
04:09He rescued the sheep from its mouth.
04:12And he smote and he killed it when it rebelled against David.
04:20So friends, this morning, David as a good shepherd, he rescued and he protected his sheep from its prey.
04:29Jesus Christ is also our good shepherd who has protected us.
04:35You know, our lifespan is very little.
04:38Our lifespan is just like a wild flower.
04:40It is just like a wild grass which flourishes early in the morning and which dries away in the evening.
04:46But Jesus had protected us as a good shepherd.
04:50He has given us a new life and new day.
04:54He has protected us from the eternal death.
04:56He has protected us from the eternal hell.
04:58He has protected us from the wages of sin.
05:01He has protected us from the death.
05:03And he also protected us from the slavery, bondage and the darkness.
05:09He has protected us from the wrath of God.
05:13He is our good shepherd who has protected us every single moment in each of our life.
05:21We are secure in the hands of God.
05:26And the second thing is, the good shepherd will not only protect, but the good shepherd will guide.
05:35Turn with me to the book of Psalms chapter 23 and verse 3.
05:40The Bible says this way.
05:42Psalm 23 and verse 3.
05:45He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
05:52The Lord is a good divine and a guidance and he is a good leader for each one of us.
06:00The good shepherd will always lead up his sheep into a right and righteous path.
06:10In the book of Ezekiel chapter 34, the Lord has given us a responsibility to some shepherds over the flock
06:21of the people of Israel.
06:25And what the shepherds of Israel, they have done is, they did not take care of the sheep which the
06:30Lord had given the responsibility worth them.
06:35So that's why they have been wandered and some have gone up into a type and talk places and have
06:42been wandered away.
06:43Some have been deserted and some have been on a mountaintops.
06:47There is no one who careth for them.
06:51There are false shepherds.
06:55But here in this passage, that Jesus Christ is our good shepherd who leads us.
07:02This morning, friends, the Lord has led us to have this beautiful day, this beautiful day.
07:09That's why the Bible says the Lord will lead us even unto our death till we meet our God, till
07:16we meet the second coming of Christ, till we meet our Lord Jesus Christ by face to face.
07:21He will be our guide.
07:23He will guide us, He will guide us, by His right hand.
07:28Though we are walking through the trials, afflictions, sufferings, and turmoils, ups and downs in our life, and sickness and
07:37diseases, some shared relationship, but the Lord will always lead us.
07:42Because He is our good shepherd.
07:45The good shepherd will always guide us.
07:49Jesus, our good shepherd, He has guided us.
07:52He has guided us to have this beautiful day.
07:55And He will be also guiding us every day that we are going to face in each of our lives.
08:02Number three, the good shepherd will lay down his life.
08:07Turn with me to John chapter 10 and verse 11.
08:11I am the good shepherd.
08:12The good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
08:17The good shepherd will not feel very happy when he lost his sheep from his flock.
08:24But even though if it is a horrible situation, even though if it is a situation, even though if it
08:29is difficult,
08:32But the good shepherd will move on forward, and even he will be ready to give up his life for
08:37his sheep.
08:39Jesus, our good shepherd, He gave His life for us.
08:42He shed His precious blood on the cross of Calvary.
08:45He was bruised for our iniquities.
08:47He took away our sorrows.
08:48He took away our griefs.
08:49He took away our transgressions.
08:50He was taken, He took away our iniquities.
08:53He was taken all of our sins on His cross.
08:58He was pricked up.
08:59He received the lashes on His body about 39.
09:04He died for us as a good shepherd.
09:11So this morning, dear brothers and sisters,
09:13Jesus, our good shepherd, who laid up His life down for His sheep.
09:19He hath given up His life for each one of us.
09:27In John chapter 10, verse 26, the Bible says,
09:34Jesus said this way,
09:35I am a good shepherd.
09:36My sheep will hear my voice, and I know them, and they will follow me.
09:45Are you a sheep in the flock of God?
09:49Jesus Christ is calling you by name, by name.
09:55If you hear the voice of God,
09:57and He is knocking at your heart,
09:59open the door of your heart,
10:01and ask Jesus to come into your life,
10:05that God will save up your life.
10:10and you can be able to have fellowship and follow Him.
10:14Always remember, Jesus is a good shepherd who gave up His life for each of our lives.
10:21Even though we are ungodly, even though we are weak,
10:23even though we are without strength,
10:26even though we are enemies with Christ,
10:27He is a good shepherd.
10:29He is a good shepherd for all our lives.
10:33Let us thank God for all His gifts.
10:38Even though that we have been wandered and moved away from His flock.
10:42He has remembered us and gathered us back to be the sheep in the flock of God.
10:48Let's pray.
10:49Holy and precious Father, we thank you.
10:52We praise you for the salvation,
10:54for remembrance,
10:56back and bringing us back into your holy flock.
10:59We thank and we praise you God for the word which you have blessed us with.

11:14that they might not be wandered away from you God.
