00:00Fun times had by y'all. It is a Wednesday and that's how we get down the business.
00:04We got a lot of great stuff here coming up on the show for, you know,
00:06we end the show there with little PME action.
00:09We give out best bets on these shows and also some of the best guests in the
00:12business, which includes Kevin Walsh,
00:14host of Game Time Decisions 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
00:17right here on the Sports Grid Network.
00:18And we always love to spend time with Cam Stewart.
00:21And typically Cam Stewart comes on Thursdays, but now we're in golf season.
00:25We need those golf wagers here before the tournaments actually begin.
00:28Cam Stewart will be up on deck with us as well.
00:30Two great guests, two great hours.
00:32It's how we get down to business and the business of the NFL is what we're going to
00:36talk about next show. Shocked to see it.
00:38Thought I was getting punked.
00:39Max Crosby trade rescinded by the Baltimore Ravens.
00:43Unhappy with the medicals once we saw that exam.
00:47But the question is now coming up and saying, wait a second.
00:49You knew he was injured.
00:50We've been telling you that the process has been great.
00:53He should be back late here before training camp and ready to go for a great
00:57season.
00:58You knew that Baltimore.
00:59Something changed in Baltimore when the medicals got there.
01:02And now all of a sudden Baltimore is like, give us back our picks.
01:05You can have Max back.
01:06This is a really interesting story, Joe, during the tampering period.
01:11It really is, Donnie, because we're not talking.
01:14Listen, we're not talking about a B player here.
01:17You know what I mean?
01:18Or somebody.
01:18We're talking about one of the premier edge rushers in the game that the Ravens
01:23initially were willing to give up two number one draft picks to get.
01:28And then all of a sudden, the doctors and medical staff come back and be like, I don't
01:34know.
01:35Were the Raiders hiding something?
01:38I mean, wasn't this the guy, Donnie, that they literally had to have removed from the
01:42building because he wasn't going to allow them to sit him the last couple of games of
01:47the season?
01:47Wasn't that the?
01:48So what is the issue here?
01:51Because I don't know.
01:54I really it doesn't make any sense when you're talking about a player of Max Crosby's ability
01:59to all of a sudden now have some sort of what?
02:02Strange failing of the physical doesn't make any sense to me here, Donnie.
02:06No, it doesn't.
02:07Also understand this.
02:08Like, OK, it goes back to the Raiders and they have plenty of cap room to play for the
02:11Raiders.
02:12Trust me, he's already checked out on the Raiders, was looking forward to be a Baltimore
02:15Raven.
02:16He's not just going to show back up in that building in Vegas like, OK, time to hit the
02:20weights here and let's have a great season coming up.
02:22The interesting part, Joe, is going to be when Max Crosby will find another team.
02:26And also, what's that price point?
02:28You just saw it's two first rounders.
02:30Now we have questions about medical.
02:32Probably not going to be that high.
02:33The Raiders thought they had the two first.
02:35Now they might only get one first.
02:36I mean, just an absolute mess where we didn't see that coming.
02:39But breaking news last night, had that up on the television, will continue to bring
02:42that breaking news if something happened, certainly during the show.
02:45The Jets, they found their quarterback, as we talked about here in the early lineup.
02:50Joe, you are a Jets fan.
02:51When you heard Gino back to the Jets, was it elation?
02:55Was it Jersey buying time?
02:56Or was it, you know what?
02:57See you in a couple of years, Jets.
03:00I thought I was being pumped.
03:02Honestly, I thought it was like one of those fake Adam Schefter accounts.
03:06You know what I mean?
03:07I'm like, oh, wait a minute.
03:08Like, they're like, wait, wait, what?
03:11They, and they traded for him?
03:14Yes, they traded for Gino Smith.
03:17I can't believe it.
03:19But I'll tell you what, glass half full here for the Jets side, right?
03:23At least this means they're not going to reach for a quarterback in this draft, which was,
03:30again, a little concerning here because it is the Jets after all.
03:33But it appears that they are clearly in 2027 mode to get their quarterback, and this is
03:40nothing more than a placeholder.
03:42And they don't pick up any of his salary that the Raiders overpaid him.
03:47So the Raiders are taking that up.
03:49It's not costing the Jets a whole lot.
03:51So from that perspective, I like the deal.
03:55By the way, this tweet we're going to pop up here from when they had Gino Smith to when
03:59they got Gino back.
04:00Jack, it's a lot of bums on that roster, but also, there's a lot of high draft picks
04:05on there.
04:06There's a lot of Hall of Fame prospects talking about Aaron Rodgers.
04:10Is it the Jets curse?
04:12Or is it these players were just cooked because Zandano just won a Super Bowl out here.
04:17Aaron Rodgers is going to the Hall of Fame.
04:19The Jets can't seem to get it right, Joe.
04:21Well, it's not the same Jets team that got rid of him, right?
04:26Different regime, different everything.
04:28But it's still the Jets being the Jets here.
04:31I mean, the Jets basically got rid of him and watched all his good years play with other
04:36teams.
04:36But listen, at this point in the spot, they get three number one picks in next year's
04:41draft, right?
04:42Gino's a placeholder, and we've seen this before.
04:45So can Frank Wright get enough out of Gino Smith where they're at least competent?
04:49I think he can.
04:51Gino is, you know, interceptions aside, he's not terrible.
04:55But, you know, again, the Jets have all of the leverage here in 2027.
05:01Don't reach for anything stupid quarterback-wise in this draft.
05:06The Dolphins.
05:07Look, every team has dead cap amounts.
05:10You cut a player, you trade a player.
05:11You're going to have to eat some of that.
05:12But the Miami Dolphins have 50% of their cap based on players that will no longer be in
05:17Miami.
05:18My goodness.
05:19More NFL news and notes next, and we'll flip it over to some college basketball for you.
05:24Joe, we opened up last segment talking about Max Crosby, and we are a live show here.
05:28If some news comes down the pipeline, we'd like to get it out to the people.
05:31A couple quick notes here.
05:32Albert Breer, about 20 minutes ago.
05:34The Raiders will honor all agreements they made with free agents.
05:37Because the question is, oh, no, if Max is back on the team, how much he counts against
05:40the cap?
05:41They spent a ton of money in the tampering spot.
05:43They say they will honor those contracts, and they will be fine.
05:46Then Diana Rossini, just a few moments ago, tweets out that teams were interested in trading
05:50for Max Crosby, including the Ravens, did have conversations with his surgeon, Neil
05:54Elitrash.
05:55So they already got some of the preview, but now it looks like they said, well, it looks good
06:01short-term, but we don't know about long-term.
06:03A lot of fishy stuff coming into the scenarios, Joe, but we're getting updates here on a minute-by-minute
06:08basis on Max Crosby right now.
06:11Yeah, and the big question is here, because what you're hearing from Max Crosby's agent
06:17and doctors and team is that, listen, he is recovering from the injury.
06:22He's ahead of schedule, according to his surgeon here, and he remains on track to get to start
06:29the season and be as dominant as he's been.
06:32So did the Ravens see something and their doctors see something different, or was this
06:38buyer's remorse here, Donnie, and they used the failed physical as an excuse to get back
06:44their two number one picks?
06:46It's very strange.
06:48I don't think we'll ever know, by the way, but my goodness, the Raiders, well, hey, listen,
06:53can't go wrong, Raiders.
06:54You will have a dominant pass rusher if nothing else goes on here.
06:58Yeah, I think it's a case of both, Joe.
07:00Like, I think they liked the move and then realized how much they actually lost in free
07:03agency and what they could do in two firsts, and maybe Max was only going to be good for
07:06two years, and you had to pay him a lot of money.
07:08Interesting stuff, though, in the NFL, which also includes Isaiah Pacheco on the move.
07:12Why?
07:12Well, you saw you get a superstar running back in Kansas City now from a Super Bowl champion,
07:17and then you say to yourself, well, I'm looking for work here.
07:20Then you take a look at David Montgomery, who's on the move from Detroit down to the Texans,
07:24and you fill that spot with Isaiah Pacheco.
07:26I don't mind this move.
07:27That's Shamir Gibbs' team, but you still needed that thunder and lightning type of punch if
07:32Pacheco can stay healthy, Joe.
07:34Yeah, and if he can, Donnie, it's a great, you know, one-two situation there, without a doubt.
07:40A definite change of pace, although he's still got, you know, he's still got the ability
07:45to break it there, Pacheco, but it just, you can't be, he's not, you know, you can't be
07:51giving him 30, 40 carries a game here and expect Gibbs to last very long.
07:57So you need an alternate back, and I think they found a pretty good one there.
08:02Yeah, not bad, cheap there, and you do need a backup running back.
08:04That's what they got here.
08:05Interesting news also yesterday, coming out of New England, Romeo Dobbs heads to the Patriots
08:10from the Packers, a four-year deal with roughly 70 million.
08:13Why is this a big, impactful move?
08:15Because we've heard that the Patriots wanted A.J. Brown, but couldn't meet the price point
08:20of the Philadelphia Eagles.
08:21Now, have they moved on, and Dobbs is going to be their number one, or is this just, you
08:24know what, we still are on the hunt for a number one wide receiver if we had to shore
08:28up that receiver room with a true number two?
08:30For me, Joe, as an Eagles fan, I love it.
08:32I don't want A.J. Brown to be traded, and if it seems like he was going to the Patriots,
08:36maybe you're lessening those chances now of him being moved, at least to the Patriots.
08:40Yeah, listen, I don't mind the Romeo Dobbs move either.
08:44Again, another guy that, if he can stay healthy, I think just adds another layer and another
08:50weapon to Drake May and what the Patriots are looking to do.
08:55So, you know, we've seen this from the Patriots over the last couple of decades, right?
09:00A player and a receiver like Romeo Dobbs turns out to be pretty darn vital there when the
09:06season starts.
09:07So, if he can stay healthy, I like the price, and I like the move for New England.
09:11I love this.
09:12Texans agree to terms with Kaimi Fairbairn on a two-year, $13 million extension, making
09:17the NFL's highest-paid kicker, which then I laugh at the Dallas Cowboys, who waited all
09:21long to sign Brandon Aubrey, and every day the price goes higher and higher for him.
09:27But Fairbairn, how about that?
09:28Highest-paid kicker in the NFL?
09:30Well, and listen, the guy has done nothing but deliver, right?
09:34Consistency matters.
09:35There's only a handful of these guys in the league that are worth even locking up to make
09:41sure that they don't go someplace else.
09:43And it's a philosophical thing, Donnie, right?
09:45Because some organizations are like, yeah, we'll just bring three more guys in, dime a
09:50dozen kind of thing.
09:51But when you got a good one that you can rely upon, yeah, lock them up there.
09:56That's a pretty good idea.
09:57Quick news and notes here on the Buffalo Bills, agreeing to terms with Dawson Knox on a three-year
10:01deal.
10:01They like their two tight end setups up there in Buffalo, added some pieces to the puzzle,
10:06keeping Josh Allen happy.
10:07And away the Buffalo Bills go, Joe.
10:09Yeah.
10:10Now the big question is, what are you going to do with Posa here, right?
10:14What is Joe?
10:15Because he only signed a one-year deal with the Bills, and he was a wrecker there.
10:21I mean, he had a tremendous season.
10:23Usually, he only plays three games and then gets hurt.
10:26At least that's what it was like with the Chargers, right?
10:28He played great, but they're going to have a decision to make here.
10:31They're going to have to figure out what they're doing with him.
10:33And we'll have to figure out what they're doing with him.
