00:04who was wearing a court-ordered ankle monitor, was ambushed, shot and killed near his home in Dabidi this morning.
00:12Police at 8am, residents of 1st Street West off Recreation Ground, Dabidi,
00:18heard several gunshots and found the body of Isaiah Garcia, 38 years old.
00:23He had been shot multiple times and he died on the spot.
00:28TV6 News understands that Garcia was expected to reappear in court today on charges he received back in 2021.
00:36Police said that Garcia had been charged with the attempted murder of a man and a woman
00:40during an ambush that occurred on August 2, 2021, in Karapo.
00:45He made several court appearances and was eventually granted bail
00:49on the condition that he wear the ankle monitor as ordered by the court.
00:53Ankle monitor bracelets were first fitted to a local accused on April 28, 2021
00:58by the then-National Security Ministry's Electronic Monitoring Unit
01:02following a high court order on April 23, 2021,
01:06in which the suspect was granted bail on a condition of compliance with the parameters of the program.
01:14Police are investigating the death of a 70-year-old man whose body was discovered
01:18at an abandoned building on the compound of St. Joseph Secondary School on Sunday morning.
01:23The deceased has been identified as Vishnu Miraj, 70, of no fixed place of abode.
01:28Reports indicate around 11.45 a.m. on March 8, a 39-year-old man went to the St. Joseph
01:36Police Station
01:37and reportedly received information from an unknown individual that his friend had died
01:43after falling at the abandoned St. Joseph Secondary School multipurpose building.
01:47The man told officers that he later went to the location where he found the lifeless body of Miraj
01:52on the upper floor of one of the buildings.
01:54The body appeared to have a wound to the head.
01:57An autopsy will be conducted to determine the course of death.
02:02A police corporal discharged a single round during a confrontation with an armed suspect
02:07during an engagement at Orupun Gardens, Piako, on Sunday afternoon.
02:12Corporal Carmona reported that he was at his residence taking out garbage
02:17when he observed several men engaged in what he believed to be a narcotics transaction.
02:22The officer approached the group, causing the men to flee.
02:25Corporal Carmona said he pursued one of the men, who appeared to be holding something in his waistband.
02:31During the pursuit near Building 222, another man reportedly emerged and pointed a firearm
02:37in the direction of the officer.
02:39Corporal Carmona discharged one round from his service pistol in the direction of the individual,
02:44who then ran off and escaped.
02:46Corporal Carmona continued chasing the first suspect and detained him a short distance away.
02:51A search of the man was conducted, but nothing illegal was found and he was allowed to leave.
