00:00I'm going to show you how to do the perfect red lip, but with an editorial twist.
00:03I'd surprise you to say that I'm going to go in first with a brown nude pencil.
00:07And you're going to want to sharpen it so that it's nice and pointy.
00:10I don't know where I got this from.
00:11For me, I like my cupid's bow to be a little higher than my natural shape.
00:16So I go just there like that and I create a little arch.
00:20I do the same on the other side.
00:24You see where my pinky is resting on my chin?
00:26That gives me support to keep the control of the pencil.
00:33Okay, now I'm going to go to the bottom lip.
00:36And just mine, outside that white part, I've got kind of a little halo.
00:43And that's kind of the basis of my shape.
00:46Now I don't like the lips that I do or myself or other people to go too wide here.
00:50I like them to go wide here and here.
00:53So essentially, like, that's why I popped out the cupid's bow and I popped down the bottom lip.
00:58However, when it comes to lining the rest of the shape of the mouth, I'm just going to start to
01:02shade with the side of the pencil down without going too far up and outside the lines.
01:09And again, sort of just using the shading side of the pencil like you would if you were sketching on
01:15paper.
01:19And then for the bottom lip, you're going to just go from the corner of the lip out toward the
01:26middle.
01:28Like so.
01:29And you can, of course, if you want the support, just use the point of the pencil and your pinky
01:35anchor to connect it to that.
01:40I'm going to shade in there just a little bit.
01:43And for me, that's kind of the perfect lip shadow for any base of most colours.
01:49I'm going to finish the other side and go in with a red of some sort.
01:54And the reason why I went right there and shaded on those sides is to sort of make that centre
02:01part pop even more.
02:03Now, the gradation of shadow and colour lets the centre of the mouth become more forward and more pouty.
02:09And that's like a stunning lip already.
02:11Okay, we've got Sephora Collection lipstick.
02:13This is called shade number 14 and it is the velvety matte formulas.
02:18And I'm just going to start to sketch that on in the centre.
02:21Let the lip look like that.
02:23And then shame on the top.
02:26You can see how quickly this transfers.
02:27So you're going to want to be careful so that you don't go too far outside the lines.
02:30I want to grab like a pencil brush kind of like this.
02:32This has just got something that's already a little bit tinted red.
02:35So I'm going to use this.
02:36I'm going to slowly start to blend that in to meet that beige liner.
02:42And a small brush keeps you in control of where the product goes.
02:47Okay.
02:50The first liner that I used for anybody that wants to know was MAC Stone lip liner.
02:57And my eyeshadow, the sparkly one because I know that you will ask, is Urban Decay Space Cowboy.
03:04Okay, so you can see that I'm really taking my time to not rush this.
03:07Because if you get the framework on, it doesn't feel rushed.
03:12Then this base should last me all night and all day.
03:15Because it will just be a case of touching up where it's coming off in the middle.
03:21Okay.
03:22And this first pass, the way that I'm really sort of merging it with my skin, is going to almost
03:29act like a stain.
03:31And what you can do now, is you can either go straight back on with this, direct to the lip,
03:37or you can pick up with this brush and start to deposit more colour.
03:41This will obviously take you longer.
03:43But you'll remain in control.
03:44If you are using this little brush, you'll actually have a nice fluffy little edge that feels quite soft and
03:49dreamy and romantic.
03:50As opposed to hard, sort of severe lines.
03:53Which I think always looks quite good with the red lipstick.
03:55Because the red lipstick sometimes can feel quite severe because of the nature of the colour.
04:00So it's nice if there is a softness to it, as opposed to, you know, a good that.
04:08But, each their own.
04:09There's nothing wrong with applying it the way that I just did.
04:12And there's nothing wrong with applying it with a little brush like I'm doing right now.
04:15But as you can see, that top lip now has sharper lines, simply because I went on with the bullet
04:22point.
04:24So I'm just filling in the top lip.
04:29Using my pinky to anchor down.
04:33And now I'm going to take it a step further.
04:35At any point of this, you can start.
04:38Ooh, that's the perfect amount of colour for me.
04:40Done.
04:41That's what it looks like from far away.
04:43From the sides.
04:44But I want to shade the edges even more.
04:46And I'm not going to do that with a lip liner.
04:47I'm going to do that with a liquid matte lipstick.
04:49I'm going to use, it's an almost black colour.
04:51It's called Paint It Black from NARS.
04:58And I'm just going to start to sweep it into a brush.
05:02And then I'm going to start sort of saturating the corners with it slowly.
05:07I could do this with a pencil if I wanted to.
05:09But it's also good to do it with a darker red that's in a liquid lip format.
05:13And if you ever want to just get it done quicker, you can go like this.
05:17Just do a tiny bit in the corners.
05:21Smack them together.
05:24And then blend up.
05:27And that red will merge into the black and create a dark red.
05:33Like so.
05:39I'm going to go a little crazy here.
05:41I'm going to take this orange eyeshadow from this Nymia palette.
05:44And just stipple that right into that dark, into that bright red in the centre.
05:49What it's going to do is it's going to lift the colour a little bit and make it look more
05:52vibrant all the while.
05:54Giving it this very matte powdery effect.
05:58Like so.
06:00Gorgeous.
06:01And there's a dark brown powder in this palette.
06:06That I could use to set the outer corners of that mouth and make it even more bold and rich.
06:15Like so.
06:17I'm just using it to sort of bevel around the perimeter.
06:28Because shadows and powders on the lips look amazing.
06:32And.
06:34It's fun to play with.
06:38I would say.
06:39It's not like something I'd wear to go do a grocery shop.
06:43It's something that I'd do if I was doing a shoot.
06:47Or if I was doing an editorial for a client.
06:52But it's just fun to play.
06:54And know how you can stretch.
06:55The items in your makeup bag.
06:58You know.
07:06This orange back over the top is major.
07:09Because it gives this like.
07:12Hue shift and texture.
07:19Even over the darker bits.
07:21I'll have any questions in the comments below.
07:23I love it.
07:24Lastly.
07:24Don't forget.
07:25That your Hyper Shine Serum from KGH Brand.
07:29Is a perfect thing.
07:31To throw over a red lip.
07:33If you want to make it real luxe.
07:35And real glossy.
07:36Real quick.
07:39Do now.
07:40Do now.
