00:00Everybody should know how to do a really easy smokey eye.
00:02I'm a 40 year old celebrity makeup artist with about 20 years experience.
00:05Keep watching first, get your hair out of your face.
00:07You're also going to want even light distribution on your face.
00:10Could be from a light, like an LED, or a window.
00:12Now the foundation for an easy smokey eye is any coal pencil.
00:15Could be black, could be brown. I'm going for brown.
00:17This is Makeup Forever Artist Color Pencil in Dimensional Dark Brown.
00:21It's a very good cool toned brown.
00:22So the first step is just to get into that water line on the top and the bottom.
00:27I sort of just blink on the wand or on the pencil.
00:31You can see the sort of smudginess coming into play.
00:35And then I do the same in the inner corner.
00:37I sort of just close my eye on the barrel of the pencil.
00:41You can go all the way in if you want to, into the middle.
00:44I think sometimes it's nice to leave it empty though.
00:46It doesn't necessarily close the eye off or keep the eye open.
00:49I think it's just a different kind of look.
00:50Obviously repeat on the other side.
00:54And sometimes the more messy you are with it and the less sort of precise, the better it is.
00:59Now a little small smudgy pencil brush.
01:01I'm going to sort of close my eye on this brush and just smudge all of that pencil that could
01:06be on my skin.
01:07Same on the other side.
01:08We're going to use it.
01:09We're not going to clean it up.
01:10And you sort of just want to match it and just make sure that they look the same.
01:13I'm going to go back in on this side.
01:14And I actually used to hate doing waterline pencil on me.
01:17I used to think it made my eyes look too heavy.
01:19But this colour is perfect.
01:21I'm going to skip ahead to an eyeshadow palette.
01:22This is the Creamy by Huda Beauty in Greyish Creamy Obsessions.
01:25Same little brush.
01:26And just go for any colour that takes your fancy.
01:28I'm going to go for this grey at the top.
01:29I'm going to close my eye and sort of do the same thing.
01:32And I always like to start with a lighter shade because you can always build a shade.
01:36It's much easier to add than it is to take away.
01:38Always remember that.
01:39I think a true smokey eye should be a little smokey on the inside and the outside.
01:42It's getting moody.
01:43I like it.
01:44And then I'm going to take a little bit of this one which is a deeper black.
01:47I'm just going to do the same thing again.
01:50This palette actually is an amazing palette for a smokey eye person.
01:53But it doesn't want to feel like the eye is too heavy or too dark.
01:57It's like a perfect smudgy eye palette.
02:00And I'm just staying where I sort of stay from a placement perspective.
02:04I'm just going back to that same area that I left.
02:07And every time I go in again, I just go a little bit higher or a little bit lower.
02:10Now to add a little sparkle and twinkle, I'm taking this middle colour right here with the brush.
02:14And I'm just going to stipple it on through the centre of the lid all the way up to my
02:19eyebrow.
02:20To create that lovely sort of wash of light and twinkle that kind of looks like the moon on the
02:26ocean at midnight.
02:28If you made it this far, thank you.
02:29Because I think in this day and age, we are all so overwhelmed with content.
02:33Which is just normal.
02:34The nature of the industry.
02:36But I think our attention spans are getting shorter.
02:37And that is what makes me sad.
02:38Because you can't really learn anything in 30 seconds.
02:40So anyway, my last step would be to go back in with this pencil.
02:45And of course, a lot of mascara.
02:48Because what's a smokey eye without mascara?
02:50Mascara.
02:50And if you've got this far, I will give you the luxury of understanding my accent.
02:54I'm from the north of the UK, very close to Liverpool, but more the Lancashire side.
02:58So don't talk like that.
02:59But I wish I did.
03:00Great accent that like.
03:01But I've lived in New York for 10 years.
03:02But before New York, I lived in London.
03:05So my accent's a bit weird.
03:07I know.
03:07I get told daily across all platforms.
03:10Bye.
