00:00Mixed martial arts promoter Jason Fraser is on a mission to find the next crop of
00:05Pan-American and World Junior Champions. Come tomorrow he will be hosting the
00:09event Unstoppable which is a partnership with the military-led academic training
00:13program MILAT. I'm very excited about the event for this weekend as our main goal
00:18and objective and drive is to identify new talents from the grassroot level so
00:25our focus is really on the youths for this event as you know Trinidad and
00:31Tobago had representation at the World Youth Championship earlier on this year
00:36in Abu Dhabi where we won a bronze medal so we saw the possibility to have a
00:41stronger contingency from the Caribbean region especially Trinidad and Tobago so
00:46our main objective is to find those talents wherever they are. He gave a
00:53breakdown on the partnership with MILAT. The partnership with MILAT is that
00:56well MILAT is a military-led program they have grassroots athletes and as
01:01young athletes inside here we believe in building for the future so we are
01:06focusing on the youths and they have a very good program a good structure with
01:09discipline and fitness inside there so it will be easier for us to actually go
01:14in and have our technical directors and coaches and they you know identify those
01:20athletes and work together so we're about to roll out the program in MILAT
01:24next year and with the St. Jude's home for girls. Technical director of the
01:30Mixed Martial Arts Association Warren Gill spoke about his expectations for
01:34the tournament. I expect to see a good turnout from the youth contingent the
01:40junior contingent sorry of Mixed Martial Arts in Trinidad we expect to see
01:44members of the team that were at Abu Dhabi this year especially the bronze
01:49medalists I expect them to give a good demonstration of what Mixed Martial
01:54Arts is at the junior level. He says it's a highly controlled competition no
01:59striking to the head is allowed. At the junior level you will see that we allow
02:04no punching in the face we remove certain what we would call dangerous
02:09submissions like heel hooks and overextended arm bars so it's going to be
02:13a highly controlled competition. The weigh-in and the competition is set to
02:17take place on the same day. As with the international body with IMAF they don't
02:21allow what we call the practice of weight cutting where people try to cut
02:25weight to go down into a lower division which is tantamount to some people would
02:30consider cheating some people would consider it strategy but in the IMAF
02:34format weigh-ins are always done on the day that the competition takes place so
02:38we try to follow that same arm trend.
02:43Yes this is what we want we try to encourage from the youth level that you
02:49should fight what your weight is what your fighting weight is. There are
02:52approximately 12 weight classes the event is scheduled to take place at the
02:56Milad compound in Mausika on Saturday from 7 p.m. Sergio Dufour, TV6 sport
