According to TTKU interim president Dr. Nicole Lambie, the participants were exposed to high quality demonstrations from the coaches.
Transcript
00:00These dedicated youngsters were focused on a job at hand on Sunday afternoon at
00:04the fitness center in Maraval. Some of the participants' families were also
00:11present to provide much-needed support. This as the Trinidad and Tobago Karate
00:16Union held its athlete training camp with interim president Dr. Nicole Lambie
00:21explaining what it entailed. I would call it a skills dissemination camp. It's
00:27actually quite a critical event I would say for dissemination of skills. So over
00:35the last year we had a number of our talented national athletes fortunate
00:41enough to secure the opportunity to train alongside top world-class athletes as
00:47well as coaches at various international seminars. Now these would have been both
00:53in in the two facets of sport karate which would be kata and kumite events and the
01:00countries they would have been to were Dominican Republic, Panama and Paraguay.
01:06Regarding the turnout for Sunday's event Dr. Lambie was more than satisfied with it.
01:11She stated that those who went abroad and gained a high level of exposure were able
01:17to pass on the knowledge. This camp would have helped to showcase them and their
01:22new skills, what new methodologies they would have grasped over the seminars as well as allow
01:29them to let's say wear a different hat for the development of themselves as coaches. So
01:38they weren't only athletes but they were also developing as coaches and seminar facilitators.
01:492026 is the year of elections with Dr. Lambie having already put things in place.
01:55That includes hosting camps of this nature.
01:59I do have on the agenda to host more camps like this because should we not even have anyone else
02:06go abroad I think stemming from the seminars that they attended this year that several other
02:12opportunities and camps would be available because the objective is to continue to disseminate the
02:19information so that it is not kept for privileged few but that it's open to anyone who is interested.
02:26According to Dr. Lambie, the TNT Karate Union received a lot of support from the Trinidad
02:31and Tobago Olympic Committee including facilitating athletes to attend a Pan American event in Paraguay.
02:38They are not available now, they are on the TV with the CX-SPORT.
02:47The Trinidad is in the same place.
02:48So there are many people who have just come to mind and they have to be able to stop their
02:51their own activities.
02:53The Trinidad is not to be able to get the ones to go abroad.
