00:00Hello, welcome to the CV's Flight Channel.
00:30The whole shot slips right up the inside as the other guys fade out and Joe Shimoda second
00:36position right there behind hammocker this is going to be a battle we talked
00:42about earlier those runs coming out of the gate and Joe actually had this hole
00:46shot I believe but he hit one of those front end popped up he had to pull in
00:49the clutch allowed Seth to get out front this is what he needed Ricky we know he
00:53has the speed need that clean air right now oh is that yeah Pierce Brown trying
00:58to make a move on Adams early I'm letting these not wanting these guys you
01:05just have to think not one these guys in front to get too far out and gain that
01:09track position can be tough to make up time especially here early Yamaha may
01:13have dominated competition so far this year but it's Kawasaki and Honda out in
01:18front before you pick up the first Yamaha Seth Hamaker crash in qualifying and
01:24crashed in his heat as he fends off Joe Shimoda the SMX 250 world champion that
01:30line was great by Joe Shimoda he actually gained position on Seth Hamaker by going
01:38to the inside and jumping through there oh yeah Joe Shimoda almost tagged the rear
01:43wheel of Hamaker just what we talked about in heat race how aggressive Joe looks
01:46coming off this injury just getting better and better Joe probably understands he
01:50wants to get out front hopefully avoid what happened last week and I think if
01:53he does he has the pace to start clear out but it's gonna be tough yeah he looks
01:58like a completely different rider than last week and on a gnarlier track but I
02:03actually oh look at this that's Davies trying to get by Cody shock now he's
02:08gonna be on the inside here he had the preferred line or the advantage I like how
02:14shot goes to the outside as it gets bottled up in there yes traffic jam of
02:19teammates up ahead one two three Cody shocks gonna break up that line of
02:22teammates as he forces his way ahead of Davies tucks in behind championship
02:27leader Pierce Brown highest place on strategy star Yamaha rider is Nate
02:32Thrasher in form that's what I talked about being patient he slammed in that
02:36corner and lost that momentum otherwise he might have had to pass and yeah he knows
02:41he has to get out get around him because they're those leaders starting to pull
02:44away as we see Duran got around Nate Thrasher for third place it's hard not to
02:49take that bite that bait when you see out of your peripheral the guy going a
02:54little bit faster than you are trying to make a pass
02:59oh this guy's teammates battling for it Sam Hamaka aboard his monster energy pro
03:07circuit Kawasaki top box leads the way he was a championship contender last year
03:12finished just three points shy of Tom beyond to win the 250 East Division but he
03:18won a couple of times it was a great season for him after multiple setbacks in
03:23his career last year was a phenomenal year for Hamaka this is true Adams the
03:29youngster working on the SMX world champion talking about confidence he was
03:34able to get around Nate Thrasher and close in on Joe so that heat race just the
03:39confidence that he's getting you've seen it on this racetrack Joe makes that
03:43mistake hold up drew a little bit and you can see his teammate out front pulling away
03:48looks like a lot of the riders if they're kind of by their by themselves they go to
03:53the inside first on the split lane but if they're behind someone they
03:59automatically go to the outside there on the first right-hander so keep your eye
04:03there later on in this race looking at the 18 year old New Zealander Cole Davies
04:09currently runs fifth chasing after his teammate he's got teammate behind as
04:16well run by both those guys I thought Cole might make up some time but wasn't
04:21able to Pierce got through his wolf just as good yeah he did great run for the
04:26both of them and I was I was with you I thought for sure Cole was gonna make up
04:29some ground on his teammate but he wasn't able Pierce is still hitting on the
04:34only one actually seen in both classes still tripling into that sand section he
04:38didn't get it as clean slowed him down but he can get that right we saw what he did in
04:46that heat race
04:46Davies was frustrated last week after going down on the opening lap but his
04:51comeback as he's coming back on his teammate here Pierce Brown his comeback
04:54from the back of the field to a top five result last weekend in Arlington that was
04:59something else as he passes the points leader I'm guessing he revved up his bike
05:03right there to try to scare Pierce Brown out of the line perfect execution way to
05:08look ahead and predict that that inside was gonna slow down and keep that momentum
05:13around the outside really heads up I mean that could have been even costly he
05:18almost ran into Pierce but like you said that heads up Roddy he predicted and nice
05:22pass coming in on Drew Adams right in front of him yeah not that far away is he
05:27there's Adam's top of your screen watch the run he gets through the whoops so I
05:30mean Cole Davies for his stature I mean he is absolutely incredible through the
05:35whoops he almost had I'd say six tenths to seven tenths time gap on the whoops last
05:41week in Houston that's an eternity in a regular Supercross race if he hits this
05:47triple
05:50oh Drew Adams got hung up there a little bit here comes Piz Brown on the inside and
05:56Cole is definitely keeping his eyes up because he almost landed on Drew and if
06:01you'd have jumped out he would have landed on him we saw Pierce get behind him but
06:04still didn't lose too much time yeah be interesting remember Cole made a pass on
06:08his teammate right here in this section coming up let's see if he does the same
06:11thing he's going to try to do it using this outside to his advantage
06:16so that inside oh made up time there you go I'm assuming he's probably going to go
06:22to opposite see if he can make Drew nervous maybe rush that corner oh Cole
06:27messed it up so he lost some time but you'll see that gap close in and he was
06:31able to show Drew Adams the front wheel and so now that's in Adam's head he'll
06:37know that Davies is close enough and then now Dave if you're Davies right here and
06:41James you've been in this position a million times he knows he's faster than
06:45these guys so the urgency is there for sure and you want to have it but at the
06:50same time he can kind of let the pass come to him when he has that kind of
06:53speed advantage yeah the way Cole is and if I'm in this position as long as Seth
06:59isn't pulling away from me I'm okay with that but right he does that number 10
07:02gets away I'm gonna have to start making these passes JT yeah they're
07:06definitely trying to get forward here but you know it's another Drew Adams
07:09comedy he's talking about this is his favorite racetrack you see Cole Davis like a
07:12huge mistake there but you know Drew Adams so good Pierce Brown taller guy AP do
07:18you think that there's a distinct advantage here at Daytona to having a
07:23taller height do you think they can get more leverage is that why these guys talk
07:27about Daytona being their favorite track do you think
07:30that's I mean listen that's a that's a really good question and I'd love to ask
07:35him that I think that the long legs and a track like this JT can work for you but
07:40against you also and some of these ruts I've always been told that listen ain't
07:44no secret I'm a short man so it you know ruts normally are better especially in turn
07:52situation so I think it's twofold I really do I love this place not short there you
07:59go worked out pretty well didn't it 722 we're at the halfway point on the clock in
08:07this second round of 250 East for 2026 you're looking at Cole Davis a quick
08:13reminder to stock up on monster energy drinks and 711 really good form there
08:19through the whoops and him but gotta give a shout out to the theft he picked up the
08:23pace he ran a 120 so he was the fastest guy on that racetrack there so he saw the
08:28number 37 Davies coming you know Ricky this race could be won a loss in the next
08:34half a lap except if he can keep going I go back to also I mean compared to when
08:40we were racing James it's like these these younger guys are so good at
08:44maintaining like a two to three second lead it's always hard to tell if
08:48they're giving it their all whereas you and I when we were racing we wanted to
08:52have a you know a 20 second lead at the end so yeah but Seth doing a great job
08:56whipped it up there when he did and got that gap back to two and a half three
09:00seconds yeah and there's some lappers going on also yeah it's that thing get
09:05through that sand section and look at that gap he closed down quite a bit just
09:10to remind you what happened to this man who leads the race and it's just two and
09:15a half minutes plus a lap away from a victory which would be his best ever
09:18result here at Daytona this is what happened to Hamaker earlier today it
09:23wasn't pretty for the guy who almost won this title last year check this out yeah
09:28when you get right there that is that is so scary when you go sideways like that
09:33but glad to see that he was okay and remember he has shoulder surgery in the
09:38offseason not sure why but his teammate drew Adams just pulled off the track and
09:43has left this race that's a shame for the teenager who was running so well he was
09:47in the top three at one point in time tell us more about Seth will was talking to
09:55Ricky leaving forward racing got started today and we were kind of reflecting on
09:58Seth's performance last weekend and sort of Ricky's opinion and not to put words in
10:03mouth Ricky that they just wasn't quite what we were expecting out of him he missed the
10:06podium there with a four well I asked him about that today and he said honestly I
10:11just I took what the track gave me that night we know how bad the conditions were
10:15last weekend in Arlington something's happened on track guys Joe Shimoda's down well
10:20oh man look at you can almost see his line right here not sure what happened he was
10:29probably feeling the pressure from Davies Davies was all over him yeah a lot of times if you
10:34don't get that momentum here let's see what happens oh he gets there probably buries that
10:39front end kind of hits that pothole right there and then yeah there is it there you go it
10:43looked like he tried to turn out early a little bit and get a straighter shot down
10:47that straightaway and just yep buries the front and at the moment that has cost him
10:52a podium spot because Pierce Brown not only Cole Davies but Pierce Brown went by as well
10:57oh brutal for Joe I mean considering what we this guy's only been on a bike a couple
11:04weeks I'm sure he's not going to be happy but both these weekends are wins for Joe
11:09which is how good he's been around he's had a chance I mean yeah you're talking about a guy
11:13that wasn't even sure he was going to race last weekend and the reason why folks
11:17is after he won the 250 SMX World Championship he went back home to Japan to
11:22a hero's welcome it was an amazing period in his life he returned to the US and had
11:28a practice crash had a training crash and broke his neck had successful surgery but
11:33it was a long rehab period as you can imagine and this is still part of the
11:37comeback story last week finished second and awkward somewhat controversial circumstances
11:43with that confusion with the red flashing light and Pierce Brown jumped past him and went
11:49on to the win that infuriated Honda the team the executives Lars Lindstrom the team manager
11:56and the rider especially now unfortunately here dropping it in the sand at the end of this 250 East main
12:03event
12:04yeah you heard Lee right this guy broke his neck and he's out here doing his job so still a
12:10battle right
12:11right here Cody shock Nate thrasher
12:18looks like maybe Daxton Bennett yeah Bennett's in front of him
12:24right there Rod fifth position arrived by this guy yeah one of the toughest racetrack is he can hold on
12:32this
12:32be a great victory but we've highlighted that crash he is one of the toughest guys out here and it's
12:37not as surprising that on the one of the toughest racetracks of the year
12:40you see step time maker out here well go back to like what will said I mean I I love
12:46what she had to say and you know Seth
12:48just taking what the track gave him but this is like a kind of ride that I was kind of
12:53expecting from him just
12:54to be up contending for the win and we never really saw much like this look at that this is
13:00huge the cheers on for the 23 year old from
13:03Bainbridge Pennsylvania fourth career victory on the line and he'll be the first
13:10monster energy pro circuit Kawasaki rider to win here in five years since Cameron McAdoo won back in 21
13:17this is huge I just think about ever since last year he invested in himself made the change he's been
13:25a completely different rider you think I've
13:26closely won that almost won the championship think about how any any race victory is special but as the two
13:32of you know all too well to win at the world center of racing under the lights here in Daytona
13:40this is a special time Seth Hamaker wins Daytona
13:46and Kawasaki breaks the Yamaha stranglehold on this year's 250 competition
13:53Mitch Payton well done so happy for that guy Mitch you ain't joking
14:11that's a fan experience I think when they purchased them tickets they were going to get this that's why you
14:16need to come to the Supercross that's what you get here awesome congrats Seth
14:22that's so special first one in the season first one at Daytona
14:30that point up to and Lee you asked I mean what makes Daytona so special it's that right there and
14:36what you're able to do and how you can celebrate here
14:42Seth Hamaker Daytona winner that's a lifetime memory right there
14:49you
