00:37Webb Ricky we got the top four from what we saw last weekend in Dallas yeah it is right here

00:43again no surprise Kenny getting into the lead just like he did last year early last weekend
00:48early on passing Cooper Webb Cooper was going to try to go for the pass by Hunter
00:53see if Hunter could get by these two guys have had some phenomenal races this year and they take
01:00the different lines rocks in the inside Hunter Lawrence the outside which gives him the inside
01:05option this this line yeah if there's anything that Hunter needs to do right now and James he
01:11has got to get by Kenny that's if he's able to stay with him he cannot waste time that's the
01:17biggest
01:18thing he needs to do is get a gap on Eli Tomac and that's gonna be hard because how good
01:22Ken Roxxon
01:22is I was just gonna say that we'll see how more aggressive Hunter is to try to get around Kenny
01:28and
01:28same thing it goes with Cooper Webb felt like if he was able to get around Ken or Hunter earlier
01:32in that
01:33race last weekend might have a better chance Hunter chased Kenny the field chase Kenny for 14 and a half
01:40minutes
01:41last weekend and you just look just I mean think of the points you got Hunter Lawrence in the lead

01:46second Rockson and then Webb in fourth and this is what great champions do is they find their way to
01:53the front when it matters the most and here they all are yeah you can see it Ricky even Eli
01:58Tomac I felt
01:59like he was probably gonna be more aggressive because he felt like maybe he sat back too long last weekend

02:04each one of these riders got their the anticipation to try to get up in that lead early in this
02:09race you
02:10know how difficult it's gonna be I'm gonna go ahead and say it right now this is dangerous for the
02:15two
02:16guys in front of Eli Tomac for Eli to be sitting here on the second lap this is gonna be
02:23a good one
02:23and two of the three guys in the top three Hunter Lawrence Eli Tomac didn't get the opportunity to
02:28race here last year through injury they're enjoying this opportunity and for Hunter this is very lean times as far
02:36as his 450 experience on this track JT you remember last year Hunter went out early he sure did and
02:42think about what John Tomac told Will Christian in Seattle a few weeks ago when it's your track you
02:49have to win and Eli went out he got the job done he took points away from a guy like
02:54Cooper Webb at
02:55Seattle and Arlington everybody thinks Arlington is Cooper Webb's house well now the tables are turned Eli
03:01Tomac has won this race seven times so for guys like Hunter Lawrence for guys like Ken Rocks and
03:05Cooper Webb they need to return serve they have to try to beat the number three and it looks like
03:11the
03:11number three is gonna make life very difficult listen to the crowd here in Daytona the seven-time
03:16winner is pressuring Hunter Lawrence for second let's see how aggressive Eli is is he okay with just
03:23sitting behind Hunter because last weekend Hunter got away guy was able to get around Kenny was able to
03:28get away from and Eli couldn't close in so is he okay with sitting or he wants to make that
03:32pass and find out
03:34here the next couple laps Hunter's making a few mistakes Ricky well and I'm watching Eli and it
03:38certainly looks like he wants to make the pass I don't think that he is comfortable with just
03:42following him and if he has the momentum going and like he talks about finding that flow I think you
03:48keep it going feel like if you're in Eli's shoes you know even what happened last weekend I I bet
03:55he
03:55believes no matter what as long as Hunter stays in front of him that he's probably not gonna pull away
03:59from him you know so see how this plays out it is a tough night not only for Dylan Ferrandez

04:06Justin Cooper watch the second Viking shot everything's going good oh it just rotates
04:11forward it's his body position too far forward and down he goes and that's a bummer here early in the
04:19race gonna get passed by a ton of guys and we just got an update on Dylan Ferrandez he has
04:25retired which
04:25is a shame for that Red Bull Troy Lee design Ducati top squad see Eli elected to go with roll
04:33offs you
04:33can see those two little canisters on his goggles and conditions like this that's pretty good especially
04:40if you're behind like this you get roosted so much and you run out of tear offs that could be
04:46tough
04:46late in this race we're gonna find out how much Hunter has improved like how the confidence with
04:52him over the last few weeks because for him it's got Ken rocks and he knows that's gonna be a
04:56challenge
04:56just trying to get around him but Eli right here at his house very strong well and again I stand
05:03strong
05:03in what I said early you can see right here on the screen if Hunter wants to really have a
05:09good shot at
05:10this wind he cannot waste time behind Kenny if that door opens up I mean he has got to take
05:17it and
05:17he is a very talented fast rider tough to get by as well not gonna be easy but you just
05:23have to find
05:24the way in that moment Hunter did a great job of recovering got a little too far forward in those
05:28whoops that bike starts spinning back but adjusted his body and was able to get that run I feel like
05:35Hunter's bike looks really good here tonight what I mean by that is it looks really like it doesn't
05:41look too edgy sometimes I feel like in Supercross it looks super edgy and like he doesn't there's not
05:47a lot to give to it where here it looks a little more forgiving these guys have enjoyed racing each
05:51other this year and we've been spoiled we just showed you a graphic there of the five winners so far
05:57this year of course Cooper Webb winning at the Triple Crown let's talk more about the man in the middle
06:02the man on the 96 JT the points leader yeah and I like the way hunters responded to this and
06:07what's
06:07happened is they pushed the pace back up to Ken Rockson I think that's where the urgency came from
06:12Eli he's been racing Ken Rockson for the majority or entirety of his 450 career and he knows the one
06:17thing you can't allow Ken Rockson to do and that's get away he pushed the pace up Hunter Lawrence responded
06:23and now they're on the rear wheel of the 94 look at this the crowd tells you how close it
06:29is
06:31Rockson Lawrence Tomac it's really impressive the level that these guys are riding but go back to
06:38remember how we talked about Hunter Lawrence all year and how he needed to be a little better at the
06:43beginning of the races look at how well he's doing compared to round one back in Anaheim I agree with
06:49you and he's only going to get better at this race he'll figure this uh this track out and see
06:53if
06:53Eli is time on the inside Hunter Lawrence had no choice that's a heads up riding by Ken what I
07:01was
07:01going to say Hunter's line before the finish line if he was closer to Ken I think he was going
07:05to make
07:05that pass so Eli probably needed to stop that momentum before and he did let's see yeah how is
07:12Hunter going to react right now or respond to that pass but that was good for Hunter to stand his
07:17bike up
07:17straight had he not standing his bike up straight he could have easily gone down falling down the
07:23turn notice that a lot more about Eli this year when he makes those passes he he makes them a
07:31little
07:31different in the past I'm assuming he's probably going to try to be aggressive and get around Kenny
07:36and hope that Kenny holds Hunter up and get that gap there you go he's going to slingshot out of
07:41this
07:45corner have a listen to that raw Daytona loves themselves some AT3 that was gnarly what ET did
07:57on that wall jump that was right through it and all that came from that that split lane up there
08:03that's what I was saying with Hunter if he got next to him that he was going to pass Ken
08:08and Eli saw that
08:08and he made that pass exactly what I thought Hunter might do have a look at this aboard the Red
08:16Bull KTM
08:18there a lap ago he got by Hunter Lawrence check out this forward momentum yeah right there just goes
08:27to just leaves the door open takes a pass like James was telling you guys like he's been forcing these
08:34passes a lot more than he has in years past and then right here just goes to the outside rails
08:40the
08:41sperm and slingshots past Kenny because of that momentum like James was telling us about yeah I
08:47love it and this is the difference that I see with Eli this year is that when he gets there
08:52he makes
08:52passes instantly maybe in the past he got caught back he knew how important this pass would be if
08:58Kenny he's looking good Will he's looking so comfortable on this Red Bull KTM machine isn't
09:04he guys I was talking to the crew chief there over at KTM Carlos Rivera and he was reflecting on
09:10press day
09:10which happened on Friday and apparently Eli came off the track and said that's one of the best press
09:15days I've ever had don't want to change anything this is how I want the bike and I mean James

09:20do you think we've ever seen him quite as comfortable as he is now you talked about how
09:24he's just worked his way forward he's so happy he says everything positive about where he is
09:30I haven't seen him react like this after wins or even podiums so I mean it's incredible to see at
09:36this point in Chris's career no absolutely it is and yeah we've seen Eli maybe be faster on certain
09:41days on different brands but I would say this I see this is the most comfortable I've seen him in
09:46all situations right there's nothing that seems like it bothered him for a pass when he was on he was
09:51on sometimes those days he was off he had a few moments don't see that this year Lee think about
09:55his words I just love this motorcycle yeah and it looks like he loves it he's having fun on it
10:01he won
10:02the first two races of this season he's got three wins on the year so far I mean like like
10:09like James
10:10said you know on an average he has been this is the best that that I've ever seen him he's
10:16looked good in
10:17every single condition that we've seen and we have to remind ourselves this is the guy who could
10:21very well have been retired and here he is halfway home to an eighth win an unprecedented eighth win

10:57let's see what these two guys behind them can do with this guy right here Eli oh you like getting

11:08him get away Hunter Lawrence was the fastest guy last lap he had a 118.4 to Eli's 119.1

11:20but again I mean I just got to do his best to get by Kenny let's give some love a

11:26back you're looking at second and third but how about Joey Savace in fifth behind Cooper Webb
11:31Aaron Plessinger sixth Garrett Marchbank seventh Malcolm Stewart in eighth Shane McElrath and Christian
11:37Craig in the top ten they're Joey Savace runs top five great ride by Joey like you look great in
11:44the
11:44last he's looked good all year long and you know some people might be surprised but this honestly
11:49with the talent of this guy go back to a few years battling with that championship with Zach
11:53Osborne and winning a bunch of life this is where Joey belongs confidence he does and he's raised a lot
11:59of these guys for a long time some of these guys in the 250 division and it's he's had a
12:04rough go he had
12:05a gnarly foot injury several years ago and to see him finally get back to what we we believe what
12:12his
12:12potential was it's great to see and this is not a factory team they get a little support factory
12:18support from Honda not much and Martin Davalos and Yariv Konsky team owner has done a great job
12:26well if he stays where he is next eight minutes plus a lap he's going to match what he did
12:30at San
12:31Diego in round two and that is a top five result just going from strength to strength he's Hunter
12:36Lawrence intensifying the pressure on Ken Rockson for second place you can see Eli opening that gap
12:45this race is going to be won and lost if Hunter has any chance he's got to make this pass
12:49on Kenny
12:50let's see if he can get close he probably wanted to go to outside but that lap rider was there
12:54so he's got
12:55the funnel back in and look it's a big deal even though it might not be for the win it's
12:59a big deal
13:00if Hunter Lawrence wants to keep that red plate I think it's a big deal for a lot I came
13:05into this
13:06talked about it on my show this weekend on how it could be a huge positive for Ken Rockson or
13:11anybody
13:11to win outside of Eli but if they don't lose too many points to Eli it wouldn't be a huge
13:16negative so
13:16I think Hunter Lawrence understands if he can get past Kenny get second yeah he'd be bummed on that win
13:21but we know how good Eli is here 100 percent I end but still even though this would be a
13:28dominant win
13:29you know it's important for a guy like Hunter Lawrence to get out here and try to bag a win
13:35it could be the year of consistency with again how deep this field is oh here we go and quite
13:42often
13:43you talk about over the course of a season who has the best worst result and at the moment that's
13:50Hunter
13:51Lawrence his worst result as he goes for the inside on Rockson his worst result this year is fourth
13:56for Eli Tomac his worst is 12th and will we see over the course of the season that play out
14:02or will
14:02it be simply victories yeah that determines it and that's the thing you go back to last year's
14:07Supercross season against Cooper Webb and Chase Sexton and it's so six oh here you go nice switch up here
14:14for
14:14Hunter Lawrence oh that was a nice line to the inside uh-oh goes off course there checks up a
14:20little bit
14:20doesn't gain any time so nothing will happen there depends how much longer Hunter uh stays
14:26behind Ken and if Eli starts to get away I think what Hunter's going to start doing is racing to
14:31just get second yeah you know if he can get around Ken maybe that hope and Eli's still there but
14:36otherwise he's going to put all his effort on just trying to wear Kenny out at least finish that
14:40second as he might get a run right here let's see if he can scrub Kenny's going to be stuck
14:44on the
14:44outside Hunter probably pop out of his rut to cut Kenny off there you go nice work yeah that was
14:50nice
14:50great work by Hunter Lawrence to notice where that lapper was going go to the inside and then he hops
14:56to the right hand side of that rhythm lane after to block and defend that position on Kenny did not
15:03let Kenny get by this this this is going to be an interesting next lap maybe take a breather here
15:10and see just if he can make any time whatsoever on Eli
15:16looks good yeah he does let's talk more about the man aboard the 96 and with that pass
15:23will that will allow him to keep the red plate for another five minutes plus a lap
15:30a massive achievement Lee and I was talking to Darren Lawrence Dazzy as everyone calls him his dad
15:35earlier and just after that first supercross win last weekend and and what he reflected on after
15:41that and he said well I'm thinking back and his wife Emma was there too he said we're thinking back
15:45to nine years ago when we left Australia we left everything behind and because we believed we could
15:51do something over him we didn't want to not try and he said every time we achieve something we go
15:56well
15:57there we go yeah that's that one that's that one and they've done it with jet and now they get
16:01to do
16:01with her at the Sun Hunter and he's like we did that again last weekend he said we achieved something
16:05else that's both of our boys now who have got supercross wins so just a massive achievement for
16:11to see a red cross flag out there guys believe that's for Scott Meschi is the rider down as
16:16Hunter works his way through the sand section one more time just look at the rods through the sand there
16:23yeah crazy it is brutal right now hey Hunter Hunter Lawrence fastest guy on the track he was seven
16:30tenths quicker than Eli Eli Tomac and that was wild making a pass by Ken Rockson so this thing ain't
16:38over he's closed the gap with under three seconds and lappers could play a part here and this this is
16:46this is leaning in to Hunter Lawrence's strength meaning second half and latter part of the race yeah
16:52absolutely I mean we know he's always been comfortable here it's gonna be crucial for Eli see
16:57if he can respond because I think it's gonna become a point if he can pull that gap or at
17:01least keep it
17:01the same then Hunter will probably just start making sure just finish on this second place you last give
17:07an opportunity Ricky yeah and they just basically they basically mirrored their last lap time so
17:13I mean again it's you just tiptoeing yeah it's gonna be close
17:19just gotta keep digging and and hope for the best try to time your passes by the like these lappers

17:26best that you can oh Hunter's gonna lose some time right there coming into this season one of the
17:34headlines involved of course Hunter's younger brother Jeff SMX world champion and the injury so then
17:43people saying okay so the question that begs is is this Hunter's time to shine well he's showing us
17:49that now and all the way all throughout both brothers careers older brother Hunter has been the one to
17:57said I'm not doing my job unless I make my little brother better I need to set the example I
18:03need to
18:04show the way and he is the first to tell you how good his younger brother is yes at times
18:09that has been
18:09painful where he's missed out on winning the SMX world championship himself but here Hunter has
18:15capitalized on the opportunity that's been put in front of him he's shown his maturity he's shown his
18:21at times he is just so methodical about how he works his way his racecraft how he goes through and
18:29so is
18:29this the year for him to shine well if he stays where he is he keeps that red leaders play
18:34championship
18:34leaders play for yet another weekend as we head to Indianapolis next weekend I mean listen we're
18:39sitting here and we're watching this but this is an incredible ride by Hunter Lawrence this isn't a
18:45surprise ride for Eli he's looking at Daytona that's right this is an incredible ride by this guy and you
18:51can only I mean it's still there's some pressure not only on Hunter but Eli as well once we go
18:57to back
18:58to regular supercross races this is a fantastic position for Hunter I couldn't agree more with
19:04you Ricky that was that's exactly what I was thinking that's why I go back to it's not surprising
19:08to watch Eli win but for sure Hunter's as Eli almost goes off the track right there this is really
19:15impressive and gonna give Hunter some confidence even if he does finish second and keep Eli man
19:19it's gotten better JT oh yeah you know there's impossible things and then there's passing Tomac late
19:28at Daytona like that that is what Hunter Lawrence is facing right now so you almost you know it's almost
19:34like a pat on the back here to fight through get a second place retain the red plate because everybody
19:39knows what Tomac is going to do at Daytona but you watch how comfortable Tomac was in that heat race
19:44the way he's able to move forward in this main event jumping all the way into the corners making one
19:49arc out of every corner like this has just been a banner night for the number three this is what
19:54legends are made of and it's going to be number eight it looks like well there's some truth to that
20:00worth 100 percent and again kind of like going back to you were just was talking about James just the
20:06the quality of second place that this is and if you're a hunter you got to be pretty stoked overall
20:12yeah and once he goes back and watches watch this film he's going to see Eli pushing Eli's taking
20:18a push back I think Eli's got this sand section figured out but I agree it's a win for both

20:50into this too just talking to Kawasaki earlier on there's hundreds of hours they said a hundred
20:56hours a week has gone in and he need we need to give a praise to kind of an unsung

21:01particular test rider over at Monsanerji Kawasaki because he's been put in those days too they're
21:07talking nine o'clock in the morning till dark on multiple days back to back to get Garrett to where
21:12he is right now he was feeling the most comfortable he said and he's only been able to push he
21:17said today
21:17out of the entire season so far today so incredible to see him in this position and we wish Chase
21:23Sexton
21:24to a speedy recovery want to see Chase back as quickly as we can as the race leader Eli Tomac
21:32is on his
21:32final lap here at Daytona we have seen bring it home
21:41man eight times that is that is so wild to me I didn't even race Daytona eight times at at
21:52the elite
21:52level I think well we it's wild for you for you guys as Daytona winners right we have all witnessed
22:00this man here be the catalyst for emotions in this crowd like we've never seen when he equaled
22:07your record of five when he surpassed your record when the crowd just surged the podium there is
22:14something magical about Eli Tomac and Daytona International Speedway he's done it again now for an
22:21eighth time Eli Tomac the magic at Daytona continues Hunter Lawrence has ran as fast as lap in a race
22:30that last lap
22:57the fans came to see the famous race and they came to see the famous man Eli Tomac now an
