00:01hello welcome to the cvs flight channel gates about to drop for the little practice start
00:08right here we've got a right hand first turn 180 degree turn ac let's see what happens here in this
00:14gate drop tough first turn though yeah very tough tight first turn let's see that right hand so such
00:25a tight first corner and a right hander that inside gate is going to be it all night long
00:31this qualifying session is fueled by 7-11 monster energy pro circuit kawasaki number 10 gets out
00:39front right now he qualified fastest in q1 earlier today fourth place in arlington a week ago two
00:46podium two starts and two podiums here in daytona so you know he's feeling pretty good about today
00:50no doubt about it we were just going over some notes before the start of this session
00:56and one of our uh pre-title pre-arlington favorites for this championship nate thrasher not sure what
01:02happened in the first session but he's only 27th overall right now so i want to keep an eye on
01:07nate
01:07thrasher you know he's great remember back in atlanta a few years ago at the at the speedway there
01:13has shown great pace on these types of tracks so looking to see if nate thrasher can get up in
01:18the
01:18mix i love that shot right there shows all the ruts that are in these turns the rhythm lanes
01:24so that's going to need to clean that up right there he looked over he knew how that was right
01:28there yeah i think he was trying to stay out of that main it looks like he was trying to
01:34do a little
01:34jump skim combination if you're going to do that you got to be in the main part right in the
01:40middle
01:40of the whoops where they're a little bit lower you can get a little more forward drive sizing up that
01:44jump right there that jump right in the sand to get that angle correct like you were explaining
01:49earlier there's going to be a lot of time made right there because if you can keep your momentum
01:53through the sand exit really really fast there may be even half a second to a second just in that
01:57one
01:57sand section alone and think about this you come out of that right hand corner and you're thinking
02:02about doing that little hip jump the run leading into the line you need to get to to do the
02:08jump is
02:09going to change every single lap and so is the landing so you're going to have to adapt on the
02:14fly and for these 250 guys not having as much power as the 450s it's going to be the the
02:21margin for
02:22error to do that jump is going to be razor thin those tracks definitely faster so 119.7 will not
02:29be
02:29the fastest time here today hammaker is going to go on a fast one again right here let's see if
02:33he mixes
02:33up the section going into the whoops is he going to go inside and try what he did last time
02:38or is he going to
02:38go outside and skim let's see oh he's going outside i love how he stayed out of the top of
02:45that turn
02:46but see tried to get back to the left was still turning just a little bit coming into the whoops
02:51didn't have quite enough pace to get him to the end started rear tire started spinning started kicking
02:57out right on him probably lost a good good second there compared to a great pass through the whoops
03:03look we know joe shimota is not the best qualifier but i love this track and this setup for him
03:10tonight he's very very calculated he makes decisions on the fly and oftentimes are the
03:15best decisions as far as moving around you think of his skills in pro motocross he's one of the first
03:20to find some of the better lines throughout the track so i i love this and we talk about we
03:24talked
03:24about it with ricky how just the track develops and really comes into its own about halfway through
03:29that main event i like shimota when he gets late in the main later on today and for these conditions
03:34i like him because he is what i would say very light on the bike so he's not he doesn't
03:41rush the
03:41entry of the corners he's not really the guy that's going to get up to the big part of the
03:46turn
03:46and bury his front end in the soft stuff slow his momentum down he's often just very light on the
03:52gas
03:52light on the brakes very balanced rider so i like these conditions for him if he can have the
03:58intensity that to me is going to be joe's biggest hurdle on this racetrack is can he have that
04:04aggression and intensity that's required to compete for the win well speed not an issue so far here in
04:10q2 as he goes to the top 119.0 hamburger second with a 119.7 pierce brown your arlington winner
04:17from
04:17a week ago he was fast in qualifier number one earlier looking good in q2 looks like he's on a
04:23fast one he did i love the line through the whoops we were talking about it with seth hammocker getting
04:27to the left of that main line well pierce went right down the middle where the whoops are a little
04:31bit
04:32lower and you saw him gradually gaining speed throughout but right there jb this is that i know
04:38i've said it a lot but that to me is going to be the deciding factor of this race is
04:43who can get that
04:44hip jump every single time perfectly if you go a little long you're losing a bunch of time you're
04:49going a little short you're losing a bunch of time get a replay pierce brown just making a little
04:55mistake doesn't quite have the pace to do it lands little front end tall and you see him just get
05:00outside of the main line which really drags down the power of the bike killed his forward momentum
05:06well it looks like the bumps going in now are starting to get bigger and bigger to get the wheels
05:10on the ground off of that single is tougher than it looks especially it's definitely not as easy as
05:17spears brown was one of the first guys to do it in q1 the tracks totally changed since then so
05:22much
05:23much different as dudney goes to p2 shimota still on top brown's top five how about cole davies what's
05:29he on right now is he on a fast lap or was he just setting one up pierce round in
05:34the whoops double
05:36triple triple again comes up a little bit short a little short and right now in his mind after
05:41making that mistake there there's a few seconds where you're making a decision as a rider if you're
05:46going to continue the fast lap or are you going to decide the mistake was a little bit too much
05:51to overcome and it looks like pierce brown has decided to see this one through oh pierce makes
05:56another mistake right there that is getting really really challenging to jump you're basically tripling
06:00into that sand on an angle some yellow flags out oh that's a monster energy pro circuit kawasaki
06:07down there on the face of that jump that's not a good place to go right there that's very high
06:11speed you're carrying so much speed into that wall and you see where his bike is laying i wonder if
06:16he
06:16just got a little bit sideways over those moguls and hopefully he didn't face plant into the face of
06:23that little wall jump all right what i'm seeing from pierce right now i love the intensity and aggression to
06:29me
06:29it shows a lot of belief in himself i think he's just overriding the track just slightly coming to
06:36the corners a little bit too fast looks like he's just a little loose right now jp am i crazy
06:41not
06:42crazy at all it's such a track of you have to balance it's a balance of intensity but also a
06:47balance of patience it's so difficult to get this track figured out one guy that's got it figured out
06:52it's drew adams 117.9 folks oh my goodness and i almost we were we were talking about some
06:59fastest qualifying favorites coming into this session off camera and i i almost said
07:05drew adams but i didn't and i wish i did we talked to him we saw him when we were
07:10walking the track
07:11after the 450 main event main event last week we saw drew adams he was taking a look at the
07:16whoops and i
07:16i asked him how it went kind of a quiet night for him he said he just wanted to get
07:21through the first
07:21round not lose too many points he had a solid solid day but i think there's a lot more there
07:27i think
07:28there's a lot more there for drew adams that kid has some serious talent on a motorcycle how about the
07:33rookie right now third overall 119.2 he's launching into the sand this kid looks good right now i was
07:41finest that's right we're claiming him kane dudney i've been so impressed and i really hadn't maybe
07:49i'm just not as connected to the amateur scene as i once was but i hadn't heard a whole lot
07:53about kane
07:54dudney before say last year before he made his pro debut and everything that i've seen from him on track
08:01tells me that he is going to be good for a very long time i love his demeanor as well
08:07his style on the
08:08bike as he gets a little kick makes a little mistake but he had got bumped back to fourth gets
08:14back into that third spot 118.9 adam still on top 117.9 and this was seth hammocker on the
08:2210 here's
08:23his crash he jumps in high speed section comes up a little short right there and that's where some
08:29longer legs would have completely saved them right there but there's no doubt
08:36bell helmets that's a that's a fantastic helmet to wear but there's no doubt he's
08:41was seeing double for a second there that was a tough hit from for seth cole davies on your screen
08:47right here let's take a look one more time this is where it goes right it comes up a little
08:51bit
08:52short right there he gets off the pegs and then this point you're just on for the ride you know
08:57you're
08:57going down oh gosh you hate to see that at least he got it looks like he got slowed down
09:05a little
09:05bit before he made that impact because that could have got the fact that he was up on his two
09:09feet
09:10that he got up got back on the bike says a lot because that hurt even more than it looked
09:15like it
09:16did well it's oftentimes that sudden stop is the most difficult part of crashes sometimes but you're
09:22also at this point you're thankful for the rain you're thankful for the soft dirt when you hit that
09:26hard so hopefully seth hamburger will be all good to go for the races later on tonight cole davies on
09:32screen a little bit of a mistake right there six with a 119 pot five is pretty tight at the
09:36top he
09:37looks like he's on a mission he's on a fast one right now can he better his time he does
09:42by just a
09:43little bit 119.1 and bumps cody shock out of the top five as cole davies goes to fifth everybody
09:49you
09:50see on screen right now making a lot of mistakes and that's just that just happens at daytona
09:56you're gonna make mistakes it's not gonna be perfect it's not like a in arlington or uh in
10:01anaheim where you can go out and and kind of find a flow and it it does happen but because
10:08this dirt
10:08is so loose it's rough you're on supercross suspension there's there's not a lot of give
10:13there with some of the acceleration bumps with the braking bumps uh it's a very difficult challenge for
10:19these guys to be mistake free and this will be a big moment for the 35 of drew adams if
10:25he can stay
10:25fastest qualifier that'll be the first time he's ever qualified inside the top five his career best
10:30is actually sixth so wow what a day that would be for him to be able to qualify first with
10:35that 117.9 he
10:37looks like he's setting up a fast one right here and i'm really curious what did he do on that
10:41fast
10:41lap did he skim the bloops or did he go inside did he do something different because that's a pretty
10:45big uh pretty big big gap up there to be in the 117s here he goes let's ride along with
10:56the number 35
10:56this might be drew adams arrival right here watching it live on screen i've always said
11:02from a very young age when he got on the 250 watching what he could do just the way he
11:09worked
11:09being behind the scenes with team green and kawasaki i think that's a big reason why he's got the time
11:14jb
11:14through the whoops see him just pushing the rear into that bike down driving forward perfectly and
11:21this man is on one right now i have not seen him put a wheel wrong this entire lap see
11:27he nails that
11:28section right there that was awesome play today what i noticed adam about that is he was further
11:35left in the sand to get that angle more correct than we've seen anyone else here today i love this
11:40lap from drew adams now we know why he's fastest so far oh and what i love how he jumped
11:45all the way
11:47off that single into the berm landed on the gas straight away let's take a look at the replay here
11:52as you said jb just stays a little bit wider misses that one bump before he goes over
11:58goes over the jump allows him to drive carry his momentum nailed it there goes two turns to go
12:04inside right there and i love that stayed out of those acceleration bumps that everybody's been
12:09struggling with this is unbelievable let's see if he can better his best time right now 117.9 wow 117
12:17.2
12:20oh man drew adams here we go that's that's a lot it's gonna be a lot of confidence for the
12:2635. you said it
