00:00:18Emmanuel, God is with us, blessed Redeemer, living Word.

00:00:34Philip Jones, I'm happily retired, living on the Berkshire-Hampshire border, just south of Reading.

00:00:41And I'm here today in my capacity as one of the accredited speakers for the Prophetic Witness Movement International,

00:00:50a prophecy organisation set up in 1917.

00:00:53We've been going a long while teaching pre-millennial interpretations of end times prophecy,

00:01:00bringing prophecy teaching to the churches and preaching the coming of the Lord as an aid to righteous and holy

00:01:07living.

00:01:23Okay, we're going to do our Bible reading now.

00:01:26And in keeping with our topic today, which is Israel at the time of the Tribulation,

00:01:33we're going to look at two extracts from Revelation chapter 12,

00:01:38and I'm using the Bible I found up here, which I'm presuming is the authorised version.

00:01:44So I may struggle with some of these words. I don't normally read this version of the Bible.

00:01:48So starting with verses 1 to 9, if you want to follow with your own Bibles,

00:01:53and then we're jumping ahead to verses 13 to 17.

00:01:56And there appeared a great wonder in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun and the moon under her feet,

00:02:04and upon her head a crown of twelve stars.

00:02:08And she, being with child, cried, travailing in birth and pained to be delivered.

00:02:13And there appeared another wonder in heaven, and behold, a great red dragon,

00:02:18having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.

00:02:23And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth.

00:02:29And the dragon stood before the woman, which was ready to be delivered,

00:02:32for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

00:02:36And she brought forth a man-child, who was to rule all the nations with an iron rod.

00:02:41And her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

00:02:45And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she had a place prepared for her by God,

00:02:50that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

00:02:57And there was war in heaven.

00:02:59Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon fought with his angels,

00:03:04and prevailed not.

00:03:06Neither was there any place found any more in heaven.

00:03:09And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent called the devil and Satan,

00:03:14which deceiveth the whole world.

00:03:17And he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

00:03:22And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven,

00:03:25Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ.

00:03:30For the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

00:03:37And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony.

00:03:41And they loved not their lives unto death.

00:03:44Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, that ye do dwell in them.

00:03:49Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and of the sea, for the devil is come down.

00:03:55And to you are having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath a short time.

00:04:01And then 13 to 17.

00:04:03And when the dragon saw that he was cast down to the earth,

00:04:05he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man-child.

00:04:09And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle,

00:04:12that she might fly into the wilderness,

00:04:14into her place, where she was nourished for a time,

00:04:17and times and half a time,

00:04:20from the face of the serpent.

00:04:22And the serpent casts out of his mouth water as a flood,

00:04:25after the woman,

00:04:26that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.

00:04:30And the earth helped the woman,

00:04:31and the earth opened her mouth,

00:04:33and swallowed up the flood,

00:04:34which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

00:04:37And the dragon was wroth with the woman,

00:04:39and went to make war with the remnants of her seed,

00:04:42which keep in the commandments of God,

00:04:44and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

00:04:48Now, in this end time,

00:04:51you all know what the tribulation is, don't you?

00:04:53A period of seven years when God pours out his wrath on the world.

00:04:57And there's a great harvest of souls in that period of time.

00:05:03And what happens in Israel in that time,

00:05:05the experience of Israel of the tribulation,

00:05:08is within the context of what's going on in the wider world.

00:05:12But I'm not going to focus on what's going on in the wider world,

00:05:15the judgments, the seal judgments, trumpet judgments, bowl judgments.

00:05:18I'm not going to go into those.

00:05:20It's simply just not time.

00:05:22Because although Israel is a tiny little country,

00:05:24and it's only a short period of time of the tribulation,

00:05:27there's an awful lot going on in that period.

00:05:30Now, my title could be more precise.

00:05:33I could have said here,

00:05:34Israel within the tribulation,

00:05:37or in the tribulation,

00:05:38but I didn't.

00:05:39I said just broadly in the time of the tribulation.

00:05:42And that was deliberate.

00:05:43Because I want to capture an event that happens before the tribulation,

00:05:47because it has real relevance and impact

00:05:50on Israel's experience of the tribulation.

00:05:55The character of the tribulation for Israel,

00:05:58Israel experiences the tribulation like no other nation.

00:06:02Because not only does it experience the judgments

00:06:07that God pours out on the world as a whole,

00:06:10it's not spared those.

00:06:12It doesn't have a different experience.

00:06:14It has those.

00:06:15But it has a whole bunch of other judgments as well.

00:06:18And this is in keeping with a principle

00:06:21that God established way back in the time of Moses.

00:06:23It is in the law that states

00:06:25that when Israel is faithful to him,

00:06:28it will have a double measure of blessing.

00:06:30Because they're his first and chosen.

00:06:33But when they're disobedient to him,

00:06:35they'll have a double measure of pain,

00:06:38of judgment, of calamity.

00:06:43Speak tenderly to Jerusalem and proclaim to her

00:06:45that her hard service has been completed,

00:06:49that her sin has been paid for,

00:06:51that she has received from the Lord's hand

00:06:52double for all her sins.

00:06:55Isaiah 40, verse 2.

00:06:57And this additional suffering that Israel experiences

00:07:00is at the hand of the Antichrist.

00:07:03And we're going to look at exactly what Antichrist

00:07:05is doing in that nation during that period.

00:07:08Now, what is this event that happens before the tribulation?

00:07:11I believe quite close to the tribulation,

00:07:13which is so impactful upon the tribulation experience of Israel.

00:07:18And it is an event, a war,

00:07:21an axis of powers comes and attacks Israel,

00:07:24led by Russia,

00:07:26led by a leader called Gog,

00:07:28which just means leader or chief,

00:07:31from a place called Magog.

00:07:33And if you've ever researched these ancient names,

00:07:37these people groups,

00:07:38in fact, they're actually grandsons and great-grandsons of Noah.

00:07:43That's what they are.

00:07:44If you've ever researched what they are,

00:07:45you'll know that Magog is Russia.

00:07:47It's an area in southern Russia.

00:07:50There are five nations are named

00:07:53as being involved in this attack on Israel.

00:07:56And you can see them on the map.

00:07:57Led by Russia, you've got Turkey and Iran,

00:07:59Libya and Sudan.

00:08:01But it talks about other nations

00:08:03or a multitude of other nations also being involved.

00:08:06They're not named because these are the bit-part players.

00:08:09They just hang us on and they're following along.

00:08:11Because those three big powers,

00:08:13Russia, Turkey and Iran,

00:08:15constitute about 90% of the military.

00:08:18That's going to be involved in that axis that attacks Israel.

00:08:21Now, when does this occur?

00:08:23I believe it occurs quite close to the tribulation.

00:08:27And it's not just a bump in the road.

00:08:29It has real significance.

00:08:30In fact, I believe it changes everything for Israel.

00:08:35And at the conclusion of that war,

00:08:38God intervenes and defeats that invasion force

00:08:41on the mountains of Israel.

00:08:42It talks about Israel spending seven years

00:08:46cleaning up all the military equipment

00:08:48that's been abandoned there or damaged or destroyed.

00:08:51Seven full years.

00:08:53And that is a national exercise that needs to be organised by government.

00:08:57It's a national campaign to clean up the land.

00:09:02Now, if this overlaps with the tribulation,

00:09:04it can only overlap by three and a half years.

00:09:08Because as you know, in the tribulation,

00:09:10the seven years is broken down into two halves.

00:09:12The first half is a kind of false peace.

00:09:16And then persecution breaks out in the second half.

00:09:19I'll go into more detail a bit later.

00:09:21If this clean up is still going on when the tribulation starts,

00:09:25it has to be over by the midpoint.

00:09:27Because once that persecution of the nation breaks out,

00:09:31it's run for the hills.

00:09:33Government and any kind of ordered programme like that just breaks down.

00:09:38So my theory is that this Gog-Magog war,

00:09:41as it's commonly known,

00:09:43happens about three and a half to four years

00:09:45before the tribulation starts.

00:09:47So that the clean up operation happens

00:09:50before persecution breaks out in Israel.

00:09:55Now, I did some sums here and I thought,

00:09:57well, how big is this invasion force?

00:09:59Because God talks about it being a cloud that covers the land.

00:10:02So I looked at the strength of the three main protagonists here,

00:10:06Russia, Turkey and Iran.

00:10:08And looking at their military capabilities now,

00:10:10and assuming that they have to leave one third of them at home

00:10:13to guard the motherland,

00:10:15two thirds of mobile,

00:10:17they can field four million men today.

00:10:22And that's assuming that when the war breaks out,

00:10:25the military is broadly of that size.

00:10:28They will outnumber Israel 10 to 1 in tanks,

00:10:3010 to 1 in artillery,

00:10:3210 to 1 in rockets,

00:10:3310 to 1 in aircraft.

00:10:34And what's going to happen is that,

00:10:36although the IDF is a brilliant military force

00:10:39with great generals,

00:10:40and they will give a damn good account of themselves,

00:10:42they'll just simply be overwhelmed

00:10:44by sheer force of numbers.

00:10:46Because what these powers that hate Israel have realised

00:10:49is that piecemeal attacks on Israel don't work.

00:10:52They've realised that over the last two years.

00:10:55And they now know that only massive military force

00:10:58is going to defeat Israel.

00:11:00And that's why this axis forms.

00:11:03And we're told that when God finally intervenes,

00:11:06these forces are sitting on the mountains of Israel.

00:11:10And you can see from that map

00:11:11that the mountains run along the eastern spine

00:11:14and in the north.

00:11:14And that means that these forces

00:11:16have crossed over the border into Israel.

00:11:18And that means the IDF has been destroyed.

00:11:22Because they will be trying to halt them at the border.

00:11:25They can't let them get into Israel

00:11:27because they know there's Muslim armies here.

00:11:30It's going to be like October the 7th

00:11:32on a national scale.

00:11:34They know that.

00:11:35And they'll put everything into stopping them

00:11:37getting over the borders

00:11:38and getting them in amongst their people.

00:11:40And if they're on the mountains of Israel,

00:11:41the IDF is gone.

00:11:43And the remnants of it,

00:11:45probably just with small arms, rocket launchers,

00:11:47will now be heading into the population centres

00:11:49to Mount Lastich defence.

00:11:51And that's when God intervenes.

00:11:54Keeps his promise.

00:11:55No weapon fashioned against you will prevail.

00:11:58And they've listed the forces

00:12:01that he's going to unleash on that axis

00:12:05to destroy them.

00:12:07And I'm just going to flag up one of them.

00:12:10The first one.

00:12:12Earthquake.

00:12:13A massive earthquake

00:12:14in the land of Israel

00:12:15that affects not only the axis forces,

00:12:18but Israel itself.

00:12:20The whole of Israel.

00:12:22I'm just going to flag that up

00:12:23because that has particular relevance a bit later on.

00:12:25But there's lots of other stuff.

00:12:30And there are three outcomes of this war

00:12:32that are relevant for Israel.

00:12:34The first is that Israel will see God is back.

00:12:38That he's defending you again

00:12:40in the same way that he did in Old Testament times.

00:12:43Which will start to deal with the faithlessness in Israel.

00:12:48Because Israel has a problem.

00:12:49I think I said this last time in my last talk.

00:12:52Not only are they not messianic,

00:12:54but half of the population is atheist or agnostic.

00:12:58Now God's not going to deal with that all at once

00:13:00in the tribulation.

00:13:01He starts here.

00:13:03Showing them.

00:13:05Leading them to the brink of destruction.

00:13:07They think they're going to be annihilated.

00:13:09And then he intervenes and prevents it and saves them.

00:13:12And he's showing the nation.

00:13:14And he states that's his purpose.

00:13:16He's here.

00:13:17He's back.

00:13:19Second.

00:13:20Massive infrastructure damage.

00:13:22That's that earthquake.

00:13:53There should be a great shaking of the land of Israel

00:13:53factories gone.

00:13:54Everything.

00:13:55They've got to rebuild.

00:13:57They'll start from scratch.

00:14:00And the economic implications of that are just mind-boggling.

00:14:04Because the nation will be bankrupt.

00:14:06Because they've got to find the money from somewhere

00:14:08to rebuild the nation.

00:14:08And the economy isn't working.

00:14:11Third military attrition.

00:14:13Their IDF is gone.

00:14:16Their ordinance is gone.

00:14:17They've just got remnants of their forces gone.

00:14:20Everything of any significance is gone.

00:14:23And that's when I believe Israel signs the covenant.

00:14:27This is from Daniel 9.

00:14:29Which gives us a really, really precise view of the tribulation.

00:14:35Telling us how long it is.

00:14:37And it's divided into two parts.

00:14:39And then in the middle Antichrist breaks the covenant.

00:14:42But the tribulation period itself is kicked off

00:14:45by the signing of the covenant with the Antichrist.

00:14:50And he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week.

00:14:55And in that quote below it, which I'm not going to read out,

00:14:58that's God's view of it.

00:14:59He's calling it a covenant of death.

00:15:01And that they're being deceived.

00:15:04This prophetically significant event

00:15:06kick-starts the tribulation.

00:15:08Not just for Israel,

00:15:09but God's judgments on the world as well.

00:15:12In Daniel 9, he talks about,

00:15:16this is a prophecy Gabriel gave to Daniel,

00:15:18towards the end of his life.

00:15:20He talks about a prince making a covenant.

00:15:23And he states this,

00:15:25this is a quote from Daniel 9.

00:15:27And the people of the prince that shall come

00:15:29shall destroy the city and the sanctuary,

00:15:32and the end thereof shall be with a flood.

00:15:35And until the end of the war,

00:15:37desolations are determined.

00:15:38He shall confirm a covenant with many

00:15:41for one week.

00:15:42Now, what we learn from this is that

00:15:46the desolations that have been talked about here,

00:15:49the destruction of Jerusalem

00:15:50and the sanctuary,

00:15:53happened in AD 70.

00:15:55When four Roman legions broke through Israel,

00:15:57Jerusalem's defensive wall,

00:15:59and the leadership of General Titus,

00:16:02and they sacked the city,

00:16:03they burned the temple down,

00:16:08and they killed everyone

00:16:09that they could lay their hands on.

00:16:11Death's somewhere around the million mark

00:16:13in that bloodletting.

00:16:16What this statement tells us

00:16:18is that the prince

00:16:20is nationally the same

00:16:22as the people who destroy

00:16:24the city and the sanctuary.

00:16:26That's what it's saying.

00:16:28And you can see this little figure

00:16:29I've set up here.

00:16:31In the red, it says

00:16:33the people will destroy Jerusalem

00:16:34in AD 70.

00:16:37The people of the prince who will come.

00:16:39The prince who will come

00:16:41is not then in AD 70,

00:16:42but at the time of the tribulation

00:16:44in the end times.

00:16:45It's still in our future.

00:16:46What this tells us is

00:16:48that they share nationality.

00:16:51Because those legions were Roman,

00:16:53that's the power of Rome

00:16:54destroying that city,

00:16:55he will be Roman in some way.

00:16:58Some people think

00:16:58he will be Italian.

00:17:00Other people think

00:17:01he might just be

00:17:02of a nationality

00:17:03from those nations

00:17:04that were in the Roman Empire

00:17:06at that time.

00:17:07We don't know that.

00:17:11What kind of covenant is this?

00:17:13And who does the signing?

00:17:17If this is close

00:17:18to the Gog-Megog war

00:17:20and its aftermath,

00:17:21then the covenant

00:17:22is going to have two elements.

00:17:25First, it's going to be

00:17:26a security guarantee

00:17:29that Israel,

00:17:31the IDF is destroyed,

00:17:32but its economy is destroyed

00:17:34and it needs rapidly

00:17:35to start rebuilding

00:17:36its infrastructure.

00:17:39but if it uses its young people

00:17:41to do that,

00:17:42then it can't use them

00:17:43in the military.

00:17:45If it decides

00:17:46to put its young people

00:17:48back in the military

00:17:48and rebuild that,

00:17:49then it can't rebuild

00:17:51its infrastructure,

00:17:52at least not at the same pace.

00:17:53So they've got a dilemma

00:17:56and they're vulnerable

00:17:57because although

00:17:59those big nations

00:18:00that were attacking them

00:18:01have been destroyed,

00:18:01there are smaller nations

00:18:03around them

00:18:03that hate them

00:18:04with a vengeance

00:18:05who, because they've been

00:18:06so badly damaged,

00:18:07can now take them.

00:18:09So there'll be paranoia

00:18:10in Israel

00:18:11about their security.

00:18:13Why,

00:18:14when they've just witnessed

00:18:15God defending them,

00:18:16I don't know.

00:18:17This is one of the problems

00:18:19that Israel

00:18:20in that period has.

00:18:21They can't rely on the Lord.

00:18:24So when a global power

00:18:26comes along,

00:18:26which I believe to be Europe

00:18:28or a power based on Europe,

00:18:30with a profoundly able leader

00:18:34and says,

00:18:35okay, I'll defend you.

00:18:37I will put troops

00:18:38in your country

00:18:39as a security guarantee.

00:18:43And also,

00:18:44I will come in

00:18:45with an aid package

00:18:45because you're bankrupt,

00:18:46you can't rebuild.

00:18:48So rather like America did

00:18:49with the Marshall Plan

00:18:50in Europe,

00:18:51you will come along

00:18:51with a huge aid package

00:18:53as well.

00:18:54And they'll have his hand off

00:18:55and they'll sign up

00:18:57to that covenant.

00:18:59Some people think

00:19:01that when the scripture

00:19:02talks about

00:19:03he will confirm

00:19:04a covenant with many,

00:19:06that he's referring

00:19:07to many in Israel.

00:19:09But to me,

00:19:10that doesn't make any sense

00:19:11because

00:19:12these kinds of

00:19:14international treaties

00:19:16backed by international law

00:19:18are matters of foreign policy.

00:19:20and it is governments

00:19:21that do this,

00:19:22not the people.

00:19:23The priests in Israel,

00:19:25the heads of the NGOs,

00:19:26they won't be involved.

00:19:28It'll be the premier,

00:19:30the leader of the nation.

00:19:31He may have to validate

00:19:33the treaty

00:19:33in the national parliament,

00:19:35but he,

00:19:36the leader of the nation,

00:19:38signs that treaty,

00:19:39not members of the public

00:19:41in that country.

00:19:43So I think the many

00:19:44are many nations.

00:19:45And I think

00:19:46that he signs

00:19:47that security treaty

00:19:48not only with Israel,

00:19:49but the nations

00:19:50that attack them as well.

00:19:51Because they'll all

00:19:52be vulnerable too

00:19:53because their militaries

00:19:54have been destroyed.

00:19:56And there's also talk

00:19:57about some kind

00:19:58of retaliation

00:19:59against those nations

00:20:00using fire.

00:20:02That Magog

00:20:03is hit with fire

00:20:04and the people

00:20:05living peacefully

00:20:06in the coastlands

00:20:06of these countries

00:20:07are also hit with fire.

00:20:09So they're going to be

00:20:10massively economically

00:20:11damaged as well.

00:20:12So they'll need aid too.

00:20:14And I believe that

00:20:15those are the people

00:20:16that sign this covenant

00:20:17with them.

00:20:18Right.

00:20:18That's the background.

00:20:20So now,

00:20:20let's look at the events

00:20:21of the first half

00:20:22of the tribulation.

00:20:23Then we're going to look

00:20:24at the events

00:20:24in the middle

00:20:25of the tribulation.

00:20:26Then we're going to look,

00:20:27if you're still awake,

00:20:28we're going to look at events

00:20:29at the end of the tribulation.

00:20:32In the first half,

00:20:33we have a functioning temple.

00:20:35Because the prophecies

00:20:36about the tribulation

00:20:37in Israel,

00:20:38including Daniel 9,

00:20:40talk about Antichrist

00:20:42being active

00:20:43in the temple

00:20:44in Jerusalem.

00:20:46So there has to be

00:20:47a functioning temple

00:20:47there for that to happen.

00:20:49And some people believe

00:20:50that it's the Antichrist

00:20:51that builds the temple

00:20:52for Israel.

00:20:53That once they've signed

00:20:54that covenant,

00:20:55he starts,

00:20:56either provides the funding

00:20:57or engineers

00:20:58or whatever,

00:20:58and builds the temple.

00:20:59And the reason they believe that

00:21:01is because there's two mosques

00:21:02sat on that temple mount

00:21:04right now,

00:21:04the Dome of the Rock

00:21:05and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

00:21:06And if the Israelis

00:21:08went up there

00:21:08and demolished those,

00:21:09they'd love to build

00:21:10that temple.

00:21:11They'd do it tomorrow

00:21:12if they could.

00:21:13In fact,

00:21:14they've all done

00:21:14all sorts of preparations

00:21:16already in Israel,

00:21:17ready for the temple,

00:21:18including training

00:21:19the Levites

00:21:20and the priests.

00:21:21But they didn't do it

00:21:22because they know

00:21:23they've got to demolish

00:21:24those mosques.

00:21:25And if they did that,

00:21:27there would be a jihad,

00:21:29the like of which

00:21:29has never been known.

00:21:31The whole of the Muslim world

00:21:32will be attacking Israel

00:21:34for that huge insult

00:21:36to Islam.

00:21:39And they think that

00:21:40only the Antichrist

00:21:41with his power

00:21:43will be able to do that,

00:21:44to face the Muslims down

00:21:46and demolish those mosques.

00:21:49But we forget

00:21:51the great earthquake

00:21:52in Israel

00:21:53where every wall

00:21:54in Israel

00:21:55fell to the ground.

00:21:56Which means

00:21:57those two mosques

00:21:58on the Temple Mount

00:21:59are just piles of rubble

00:22:00at this point.

00:22:01And all the Israelis

00:22:02need to do

00:22:02is send bulldozers

00:22:03out there

00:22:04and shove the rubble

00:22:05off the edge.

00:22:06And they've got

00:22:07a nice clear platform.

00:22:08And they can say

00:22:09to the Muslim world,

00:22:10act of God.

00:22:12Not us,

00:22:13act of God.

00:22:15to Islam.

00:22:17In the first half

00:22:17of the tribulation,

00:22:18very quickly,

00:22:19right at the very beginning,

00:22:20because we know

00:22:20the length of their ministry,

00:22:23two witnesses appear.

00:22:25And I will appoint

00:22:26my two witnesses

00:22:27and they will prophesy

00:22:28for 1,260 days.

00:22:31That's 42 months,

00:22:33three and a half years,

00:22:34exactly.

00:22:35Prophetic months

00:22:36of 30 days.

00:22:39Clothed in sackcloth.

00:22:40They are the two olive trees

00:22:42and the two lampstands

00:22:43and they stand

00:22:44before the Lord of the earth.

00:22:46Olive trees and lampstands

00:22:47is referenced

00:22:48to an earlier prophecy

00:22:49about them,

00:22:50which describes them

00:22:51in that way.

00:22:52If anyone tries

00:22:53to harm them,

00:22:54fire comes from their mouths

00:22:55and devours their enemies.

00:22:57This is how anyone

00:22:58who wants to harm them

00:22:59must die.

00:22:59They have the power

00:23:01to shut up the heavens

00:23:02so that it will not rain

00:23:04during the time

00:23:05that they are prophesying

00:23:06and they have the power

00:23:07to turn waters

00:23:08into blood

00:23:08and to strike the earth

00:23:10with every kind of play

00:23:11as often

00:23:12as they want.

00:23:16So,

00:23:17what these people

00:23:17are doing

00:23:17is they're preaching.

00:23:19They're testifying

00:23:20about God,

00:23:21they're testifying

00:23:21to the truth

00:23:22of the gospel

00:23:24and they're using

00:23:25miraculous powers

00:23:26both to validate

00:23:27their message

00:23:29and

00:23:29to punish the earth

00:23:31for the people

00:23:32of the earth

00:23:33for their great wickedness.

00:23:35and the people

00:23:35of the earth

00:23:36very quickly

00:23:36come to realise

00:23:37hang on,

00:23:37these guys,

00:23:39when they tell us

00:23:40there's going to be

00:23:40a flood or a plague

00:23:41and it happens,

00:23:43these guys

00:23:43are actually doing it.

00:23:47There's been a lot

00:23:48of speculation

00:23:48about the identity

00:23:49of these men,

00:23:51a lot of it vain.

00:23:54They look at

00:23:55what these people

00:23:55are doing

00:23:56and say,

00:23:56well,

00:23:56these are behaving

00:23:57like Old Testament prophets,

00:23:58so they must be

00:23:59Old Testament prophets.

00:24:00Old Testament prophets

00:24:01come back

00:24:02from the dead

00:24:03and they look at

00:24:04scriptures like this one

00:24:05in Hebrews 9

00:24:06that says,

00:24:06just as people

00:24:07are destined to die

00:24:08once and after that

00:24:09to face judgment

00:24:11and they look at that

00:24:12and they say,

00:24:13okay,

00:24:14if everyone's

00:24:15got to face

00:24:16death once,

00:24:18who hasn't faced

00:24:19death yet?

00:24:20And they look

00:24:21back through the

00:24:22record,

00:24:23the Old Testament

00:24:23record and they say,

00:24:24aha,

00:24:25Enoch and Elijah

00:24:26didn't die.

00:24:27They were taken up

00:24:28into heaven.

00:24:29God must have done that

00:24:30so he could bring them

00:24:31back in this first half

00:24:33of the tribulation period

00:24:34so that they could

00:24:35then die

00:24:37and then face

00:24:38resurrection and judgment.

00:24:43Some people say

00:24:44Enoch and Elijah.

00:24:46Other people say,

00:24:47no,

00:24:47not Enoch.

00:24:49He was a good man

00:24:50but he didn't do

00:24:51a huge amount.

00:24:52He must be Moses

00:24:53because Moses

00:24:54performed miracles

00:24:55like these.

00:24:56It's Moses and Elijah.

00:24:57Oh,

00:24:57and by the way,

00:24:58yes,

00:24:58we saw Moses and Elijah

00:24:59together.

00:25:00They were a double act

00:25:01during the transfiguration.

00:25:03So the disciples

00:25:04told those two men

00:25:05talking to the Lord Jesus.

00:25:08The problem with this

00:25:09is that those guys

00:25:10were in their glorified bodies.

00:25:12That's what the disciples

00:25:13saw.

00:25:14Which means

00:25:15they'd have to be taken

00:25:16out of their glorified

00:25:17resurrection bodies,

00:25:18put back into mortal bodies,

00:25:20sent back to the earth

00:25:21and killed

00:25:21in order to go back

00:25:22into the resurrection again.

00:25:24Which doesn't make

00:25:25any sense.

00:25:26And scripture also says

00:25:28of Elijah and Enoch,

00:25:31they were taken up

00:25:32so that they would

00:25:32not see death.

00:25:34It doesn't say

00:25:35not see death

00:25:35just then.

00:25:37So what these men

00:25:39actually are

00:25:40is

00:25:41two new prophets

00:25:44born in the land

00:25:45of Israel,

00:25:46maybe about now,

00:25:47maybe alive now,

00:25:48we don't know.

00:25:49And that they,

00:25:51by their righteousness

00:25:52and their faithfulness

00:25:53to God,

00:25:54they're probably

00:25:55messianic believers

00:25:55almost certainly,

00:25:57that God elevates them

00:25:58to the status of prophet

00:25:59and gives them

00:26:00these miraculous powers.

00:26:02Not Isaac,

00:26:04Elijah and Enoch.

00:26:08Okay,

00:26:08now we're looking at events

00:26:09that mark the middle

00:26:10of the tribulation

00:26:11and this is where

00:26:12the action starts.

00:26:15The first thing

00:26:16Antichrist does,

00:26:17as soon as we hit

00:26:18the middle of the tribulation

00:26:19he breaks the covenant

00:26:20and we know this

00:26:22because of the first action

00:26:23he takes at that point

00:26:24which is

00:26:25with a Gentile army

00:26:27he invades

00:26:28the nation of Israel.

00:26:30He would invade

00:26:31many countries

00:26:31and sweep through them

00:26:32like a flood.

00:26:34This includes

00:26:34Egypt

00:26:35and countries

00:26:36in North Africa,

00:26:37Sudan and so on

00:26:38and Lebanon

00:26:39and he invades

00:26:40the beautiful land

00:26:41that's from Daniel 11.

00:26:44and God's

00:26:46reaction to that

00:26:47is encapsulated

00:26:48by this prophecy.

00:26:51Hail will sweep away

00:26:53your refuge,

00:26:54the lie

00:26:54and water

00:26:55will overflow

00:26:56your hiding place.

00:26:57Now when water

00:26:59is used in prophecy

00:27:00in scripture

00:27:01it's often used

00:27:02as a metaphor

00:27:02for military campaign

00:27:05or military invasion.

00:27:07Military actions

00:27:08such as the

00:27:09action of the

00:27:10Roman legions

00:27:11in Jerusalem

00:27:12is described as

00:27:12coming like a flood.

00:27:14So when you hear

00:27:15you see flood

00:27:16and flooding like this

00:27:17or rivers flowing

00:27:18in this kind of context

00:27:20then

00:27:21have a think

00:27:22because it might well

00:27:23be military invasion.

00:27:25Your covenant

00:27:25with death

00:27:26will be annulled

00:27:28annulled

00:27:28by the Antichrist.

00:27:29Your agreement

00:27:30with the realm

00:27:31of the dead

00:27:32shall not stand.

00:27:34Now when Antichrist

00:27:36invades the nation

00:27:36we don't know

00:27:37from where

00:27:38maybe from the sea

00:27:39from the Sinai

00:27:40from Egypt

00:27:41where he's also been

00:27:43there will be refugees

00:27:44driven ahead

00:27:45and there will be

00:27:46the IDF will come

00:27:47and try and hold out

00:27:49they'll be fighting

00:27:50people will die

00:27:51in the fighting

00:27:51and this is the first

00:27:53round of deaths

00:27:54in Israel

00:27:55during the tribulation period.

00:27:57The next thing

00:27:58that happens

00:27:58is that Antichrist

00:28:00is killed.

00:28:01He will pitch

00:28:02his royal tents

00:28:03between the seas

00:28:04of the beautiful

00:28:05holy mountain

00:28:06this is in Israel

00:28:07yet he will come

00:28:08to his end

00:28:09and no one

00:28:10will help him.

00:28:12One of the heads

00:28:13of the beast

00:28:13this is from

00:28:14Revelation 13

00:28:15one of the heads

00:28:16of the beast

00:28:16seems to have

00:28:17had a fatal wound

00:28:18but the fatal wound

00:28:20had been healed.

00:28:23When does he die?

00:28:24We know it's broadly

00:28:24in the middle

00:28:25of the tribulation period.

00:28:27Is it during

00:28:27the invasion of Israel?

00:28:29Probably not

00:28:30because he's established

00:28:32his military headquarters.

00:28:33This talk

00:28:34of pitching his tents

00:28:35means that

00:28:36his mobile military

00:28:37headquarters

00:28:38has been established

00:28:39in Israel.

00:28:40So Israel

00:28:40has already been taken

00:28:42but in other prophecies

00:28:43we read

00:28:44that at about

00:28:45that time

00:28:45he becomes concerned

00:28:47about military activity

00:28:49in the north

00:28:49and the east

00:28:50and he goes out

00:28:51he says

00:28:52in a great rage

00:28:53to annihilate many.

00:28:55We don't know

00:28:56what those countries

00:28:56are that are causing

00:28:57him these problems.

00:28:58Some people think

00:28:58it's Syria

00:28:59some people think

00:29:00it might be Russia

00:29:01we don't know

00:29:02but it's probably

00:29:03in that military campaign

00:29:04that he is killed.

00:29:06The prophecy

00:29:07in Revelation 13

00:29:08verse 3

00:29:09says

00:29:09he seemed to have

00:29:10a fatal wound

00:29:12on his head

00:29:13but the head

00:29:13has been healed

00:29:14and this tells us

00:29:16that he doesn't have

00:29:17the decency

00:29:18to stay dead.

00:29:21He's coming back

00:29:24and we know that

00:29:25because when the Lord

00:29:26Jesus comes

00:29:26we read in Revelation

00:29:28that the beast

00:29:29and the Antichrist

00:29:30are captured alive

00:29:31and thrown into

00:29:32the lake of fire

00:29:33so we know

00:29:34he comes back.

00:29:36So Antichrist

00:29:37is restored

00:29:38to life.

00:29:40We don't know

00:29:40how long he's dead

00:29:41and we don't know

00:29:42how public a spectacle

00:29:43this is

00:29:43but we know

00:29:44it's long enough

00:29:46for the whole world

00:29:48to believe

00:29:49that he's gone

00:29:50and it's important

00:29:51that they do

00:29:52they need to be convinced

00:29:53that he is actually

00:29:54dead

00:29:55so that when he comes

00:29:56back

00:29:58they think

00:29:59he's a superman

00:30:00that he's got

00:30:01power over death.

00:30:03He is

00:30:03we are told

00:30:04he's restored

00:30:05by the power

00:30:06of Satan

00:30:07probably through

00:30:08the bad offices

00:30:09of the false prophet

00:30:11who's doing

00:30:12all the great miracles

00:30:13to commend

00:30:14Antichrist

00:30:15to the people

00:30:15of the world.

00:30:18It's not a true

00:30:19resurrection

00:30:20only God himself

00:30:22has the power

00:30:22of resurrection.

00:30:24This is just

00:30:25healing the body

00:30:26of its wound

00:30:27and then restoring

00:30:28the soul

00:30:29to the body

00:30:31not

00:30:32resurrection

00:30:33and we know

00:30:34this because

00:30:35when he's brought

00:30:36back to life

00:30:38he still bears

00:30:39the marks

00:30:40of the wound

00:30:41that killed him

00:30:42and when you

00:30:43are translated

00:30:44into your

00:30:45resurrection

00:30:45glorified bodies

00:30:46you will not

00:30:47bear the marks

00:30:48of the thing

00:30:48that killed you

00:30:50Jesus and his

00:30:51stigmata

00:30:51is an exception

00:30:54but you know

00:30:54if you were shot

00:30:55through the heart

00:30:55you won't have

00:30:56a bullet hole

00:30:56here in your

00:30:57resurrection body.

00:31:00Now we read

00:31:01this prophecy

00:31:02about this event

00:31:03in Revelation 17

00:31:05verse 8

00:31:06which gives us

00:31:07some clues

00:31:07as to the nature

00:31:09of the Antichrist.

00:31:11The beast

00:31:12which you saw

00:31:13once was

00:31:14now is not

00:31:15and yet will

00:31:16come up

00:31:17out of the abyss

00:31:18and go to its destruction.

00:31:21Once was

00:31:22was alive

00:31:23now is not

00:31:24dead

00:31:25is again

00:31:27brought back

00:31:28to life.

00:31:29The inhabitants

00:31:29of the earth

00:31:30whose names

00:31:30have not been

00:31:31written in the

00:31:31book of life

00:31:32from the creation

00:31:33of the world

00:31:33will be astonished

00:31:35when they see

00:31:35the beast

00:31:36because it once

00:31:37was

00:31:37now is not

00:31:38and yet will

00:31:39come.

00:31:40The first line

00:31:41of this prophecy

00:31:42here

00:31:42he comes up

00:31:43out of the abyss

00:31:44and goes to

00:31:45his destruction.

00:31:46The abyss

00:31:47is not the abode

00:31:48of the dead

00:31:49that's called

00:31:50Sheol

00:31:51in Hebrew

00:31:52and Hades

00:31:53in Greek.

00:31:55The abyss

00:31:56is a prison

00:31:57that's being

00:31:58constructed

00:31:59for the fallen

00:31:59angels

00:32:00and there's

00:32:01fallen angels

00:32:02in there now

00:32:02being held

00:32:03prisoner

00:32:04but Antichrist

00:32:05has gone

00:32:06into the abyss

00:32:08which means

00:32:09he's more

00:32:09than a man

00:32:11he's got

00:32:12to be

00:32:13at least

00:32:13part angel

00:32:14and there's

00:32:15a precedent

00:32:16for this

00:32:17in the

00:32:18Nephilim

00:32:20who

00:32:22scripture

00:32:23describes as

00:32:24the heroes

00:32:25of old

00:32:25the great

00:32:26men of

00:32:27renown

00:32:28this is why

00:32:29he's a superman

00:32:30they also had

00:32:32amazing physical

00:32:33stature

00:32:33and this man

00:32:35is described

00:32:35in scripture

00:32:36as being

00:32:36stouter

00:32:37than his

00:32:37fellows

00:32:38saying that

00:32:39he's got

00:32:40tremendous

00:32:40physical

00:32:40stature

00:32:42so

00:32:43the likelihood

00:32:43is

00:32:44that he's

00:32:45Nephilim

00:32:46so who's

00:32:47his father

00:32:47which are

00:32:48the angels

00:32:48well

00:32:49who do you

00:32:49think

00:32:51Satan himself

00:32:53Satan's

00:32:53son

00:32:55false

00:32:55father son

00:32:56relationship

00:32:56the admiration

00:32:57which the people

00:32:58of the world

00:32:59have for this

00:32:59guy

00:33:00because unlike

00:33:00the politicians

00:33:02they've got

00:33:02in their

00:33:03countries

00:33:03can actually

00:33:04get things

00:33:04done

00:33:05and can

00:33:06solve

00:33:06problems

00:33:07he seems

00:33:07to know

00:33:08what to

00:33:08do

00:33:09he's

00:33:10nothing

00:33:10if not

00:33:10certain

00:33:10and successful

00:33:11in everything

00:33:12he tries

00:33:12that admiration

00:33:13turns to

00:33:14adulation

00:33:16and wonderment

00:33:17there is a

00:33:19superman

00:33:19amongst us

00:33:22and one of the

00:33:23first things he

00:33:23does when he

00:33:24comes back

00:33:25from the dead

00:33:25is he attacks

00:33:26and overwhelms

00:33:27the two witnesses

00:33:30these two guys

00:33:31have tormented

00:33:32the earth

00:33:33they're considered

00:33:34by the population

00:33:35of the world

00:33:35to be an

00:33:36absolute scourge

00:33:37and there will

00:33:38have been a

00:33:39number of

00:33:39attempts to

00:33:40assassinate them

00:33:41we know this

00:33:42because God

00:33:43has given them

00:33:43a defence

00:33:44against that

00:33:45they can

00:33:46breathe fire

00:33:47out of their

00:33:48mouths

00:33:48which will

00:33:49incinerate

00:33:50anyone trying

00:33:50to harm

00:33:51them

00:33:52and they will

00:33:52have done

00:33:53that in the

00:33:53past

00:33:54so the

00:33:55people will

00:33:55have been

00:33:56afraid

00:33:57terribly afraid

00:33:58of them

00:33:59and hate

00:33:59them at the

00:34:00same time

00:34:01they hate

00:34:01them for what

00:34:02they're doing

00:34:02and the misery

00:34:03that they're

00:34:03causing them

00:34:04and this is

00:34:05not them

00:34:06executing the

00:34:06judgments of

00:34:07the seals

00:34:07trumpets

00:34:08and the

00:34:08bowls

00:34:09this is

00:34:10entirely on

00:34:10top of

00:34:11all of

00:34:11that

00:34:11this is

00:34:12them doing

00:34:13this stuff

00:34:13at their

00:34:14own

00:34:14initiative

00:34:15not acting

00:34:16upon divine

00:34:16judgments

00:34:17from God

00:34:18they've caused

00:34:19the world a lot

00:34:19of misery

00:34:20and they're

00:34:20hated for that

00:34:21but they're

00:34:22also feared

00:34:23because

00:34:23any time

00:34:24anyone tries

00:34:25to put a

00:34:25stop to

00:34:25them

00:34:25they get

00:34:26destroyed

00:34:27but Antichrist

00:34:29succeeds

00:34:29and we don't

00:34:30know how

00:34:30he does

00:34:31this

00:34:32we read

00:34:33in Revelation

00:34:3311

00:34:34verse 7

00:34:34now when

00:34:35they have

00:34:35finished

00:34:36their testimony

00:34:36the beast

00:34:37that comes

00:34:37up from

00:34:38the abyss

00:34:38will attack

00:34:39them

00:34:40and overpower

00:34:41and kill

00:34:42them

00:34:42we don't

00:34:43know how

00:34:44he does

00:34:44that

00:34:44whether it's

00:34:45his military

00:34:45force

00:34:46or whether

00:34:47he uses

00:34:48supernatural

00:34:48means

00:34:49probably the

00:34:50latter

00:34:51and the

00:34:52people of

00:34:52the world

00:34:52will just

00:34:53rejoice

00:34:54they'll rejoice

00:34:55at the deaths

00:34:56of these men

00:34:56these scourges

00:34:57but they will

00:34:57also say

00:34:58we have a

00:34:59saviour

00:35:00he saved us

00:35:01from these

00:35:02men

00:35:03and it's

00:35:04at that

00:35:05point

00:35:05that he

00:35:06strikes

00:35:07along with

00:35:08a false

00:35:08prophet

00:35:08and says

00:35:09yeah I'm

00:35:10your saviour

00:35:10I'm also

00:35:11your God

00:35:12the world

00:35:13gloats

00:35:14you know

00:35:14the story

00:35:15they hate

00:35:16them so much

00:35:16that they

00:35:17won't allow

00:35:17them to be

00:35:17buried

00:35:18but God

00:35:18has the

00:35:19last word

00:35:19because after

00:35:20lying in the

00:35:21streets of

00:35:21Jerusalem

00:35:22for three

00:35:23and a half

00:35:23days

00:35:23the spirit

00:35:24of God

00:35:24enters them

00:35:25they come

00:35:26back to

00:35:26life

00:35:27stand on

00:35:27their feet

00:35:27everyone

00:35:28around them

00:35:29is terrified

00:35:30and then

00:35:31they're lifted

00:35:31up into

00:35:31heaven

00:35:33let's read

00:35:34the very end

00:35:34of this

00:35:35because there's

00:35:35something else

00:35:35useful in

00:35:36here that

00:35:36will come

00:35:37up in a

00:35:37minute

00:35:38and they

00:35:39and they

00:35:39went up to

00:35:39heaven in

00:35:40a cloud

00:35:40while their

00:35:41enemies

00:35:42looked on

00:35:42at that

00:35:43very hour

00:35:44there was

00:35:45a severe

00:35:45earthquake

00:35:46and a

00:35:46tenth of

00:35:47the city

00:35:47collapsed

00:35:48all that

00:35:49hard building

00:35:50work they've

00:35:50been doing

00:35:50over the

00:35:51last few

00:35:51years

00:35:51they've

00:35:52been undone

00:35:52again

00:35:53in fact

00:35:54the earthquake

00:35:54probably destroyed

00:35:55the bits

00:35:56they'd rebuilt

00:35:59and the

00:36:00survivors were

00:36:00terrified

00:36:01it says

00:36:06and gave

00:36:07glory to

00:36:09of heaven

00:36:15that last

00:36:15statement

00:36:16gave glory

00:36:17to the

00:36:17God of

00:36:17heaven

00:36:20those are

00:36:21the events

00:36:21of the

00:36:21middle of

00:36:21the tribulation

00:36:22now we're

00:36:23going to

00:36:23look at

00:36:23the events

00:36:25half

00:36:29world's

00:36:29got a

00:36:30warm glow

00:36:30about this

00:36:31guy because

00:36:32he's

00:36:32conquered

00:36:36these powerful

00:36:36witnesses in

00:36:38Jerusalem he

00:36:38strikes while

00:36:39the iron is

00:36:39hot him

00:36:40and the

00:36:41false prophet

00:36:41and says

00:36:41I am

00:36:42your God

00:36:43and he

00:36:44proclaims

00:36:45himself

00:36:45to be

00:36:46God

00:36:46and the

00:36:47people of

00:36:47the world

00:36:48we are

00:36:48told

00:36:49believe

00:36:50the lie

00:36:50and why

00:36:51not

00:36:51they've

00:36:52seen all

00:36:52these amazing

00:36:53signs and

00:36:53wonders from

00:36:54the false

00:36:54prophet

00:36:55things

00:36:55no one has

00:36:56ever been

00:36:56able to

00:36:57do before

00:36:59there's been

00:36:59a counterfeit

00:37:00resurrection

00:37:00the guy's

00:37:01conquered

00:37:01death

00:37:01he's

00:37:17transformation

00:37:17is just

00:37:18too fast

00:37:19that can't

00:37:20be credible

00:37:21because out

00:37:21there in

00:37:22the world

00:37:22you've got

00:37:23people of

00:37:23all kinds

00:37:24of religion

00:37:24and none

00:37:25and those

00:37:26religions

00:37:26and the

00:37:27religion of

00:37:27atheism

00:37:28and believe

00:37:28me

00:37:28atheism

00:37:29is a

00:37:29religion

00:37:30any view

00:37:31about God

00:37:32a belief

00:37:32about God

00:37:33you can't

00:37:33prove

00:37:33is religious

00:37:34belief

00:37:35and that's

00:37:36what atheism

00:37:36is

00:37:36atheism

00:37:37is

00:37:38those

00:37:39religions

00:37:40and none

00:37:40are nothing

00:37:41if not

00:37:41resilient

00:37:42some of

00:37:43them have

00:37:43been run

00:37:44for thousands

00:37:44of years

00:37:45all attempts

00:37:46to convert

00:37:46them have

00:37:47failed

00:37:47and yet

00:37:48in an instant

00:37:49they're

00:37:50worshipping

00:37:50him

00:37:51how

00:37:53we've got

00:37:53to remember

00:37:54that

00:37:55satan already

00:37:56has these

00:37:56people in

00:37:57his grip

00:37:58the grip

00:37:58of delusion

00:37:59the delusion

00:38:01of islam

00:38:01the delusion

00:52:53hollow

00:52:53like a bow

00:52:55completely surrounded

00:52:56by high mountains

00:52:57on all sides

00:52:59and it can't be

00:53:00accessed by vehicles

00:53:01because to get to it

00:53:03you have to pass

00:53:04through like a

00:53:05small channel

00:53:06cut in cliffs

00:53:08which is so narrow

00:53:09vehicles can't get in

00:53:10there so you have to go in

00:53:11on foot or by pack

00:53:12animals

00:53:14on the map on the

00:53:15left you can see

00:53:16the possible escape

00:53:18route

00:53:20going down the

00:53:21Jordan Valley

00:53:21staying within

00:53:22Israel

00:53:23to get to a

00:53:24ford

00:53:24as close to

00:53:26Petra as possible

00:53:27and then coming

00:53:28straight across

00:53:28not crossing

00:53:30straight from

00:53:30Jerusalem

00:53:33because you're

00:53:33hitting the main

00:53:34population centres

00:53:35and these guys

00:53:36will be as

00:53:36anti-semitic as

00:56:46and fill bowls of mixed wine for destiny

00:56:50I will destine you for the sword

00:56:52and all of you will fall in the slaughter

00:56:55for I called you but you did not answer

00:56:57I spoke but you did not listen

00:56:59that's the difference

00:57:00that's the difference between the remnant

00:57:01who escape and the two thirds

00:57:03that don't

00:57:04the remnant are faithful to God

00:57:06they're putting their trust in him

00:57:08the remnant who don't are putting their trust in fate

00:57:12or in their own abilities or government or something else

00:57:14but not the father

00:57:15and that's what distinguishes those people

00:57:17so the remnant who are faithful to him

00:57:20who are looking to him for their salvation

00:57:21he takes out

00:57:23and takes them to Petra

00:57:25how are they refined

00:57:27because they're in a refuge

00:57:29we're not told

00:57:30but there's a list there of some ideas

00:57:33that I've been kind of chewing over

00:57:35they've got this psychological pressure

00:57:37and they're in the refuge

00:57:39but do they know they're secure until the end

00:57:45they can see that world Jewry is being destroyed

00:57:48their nation is being destroyed

00:57:50all around them

00:57:51they've got that psychological pressure

00:57:54they will have heard the gospel of the two witnesses

00:57:58because those two witnesses

00:57:59will be preaching the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ

00:58:01they won't be messing around

00:58:04they won't be saying

00:58:04be faithful to God and stop your sinning

00:58:06they'll be teaching Jesus as their saviour

00:58:09Jesus as Messiah

00:58:10they will have that teaching to reflect upon

00:58:12and learn from

00:58:14some of the 144,000 Jews

00:58:17who are evangelising the world

00:58:19who we haven't mentioned yet

00:58:20they may get to those camps

00:58:23and start teaching there

00:58:24we haven't mentioned them

00:58:26because those guys are probably not in Israel

00:58:28they're probably not from Israel either

00:58:31they're Jewish converts from the diaspora

00:58:33who are evangelising the world

00:58:38somehow, some way

00:58:40these people become messianic

00:58:42in those three and a half years

00:58:46even to this day

00:58:47when Moses is read

00:58:48a veil covers their hearts

00:58:50but whenever anyone turns to the Lord

00:58:52the veil is taken away

00:58:54and they turn to the Lord

00:58:56so the veil is taken away

00:58:57now the Lord is spirit

00:58:59and wherever the spirit is

00:59:00wherever the Lord is

00:59:01there is freedom

00:59:02at some point

00:59:03they come to accept Jesus

00:59:05as their Messiah

00:59:07does Jesus come then?

00:59:09no

00:59:10because there's more they have to do

00:59:13first

00:59:13they have to confess

00:59:15their sin

00:59:16their national sin

00:59:17not their personal sins

00:59:19they've probably already done that

00:59:20their national sin

00:59:21of rejecting their Messiah

00:59:23but not just for this generation

00:59:25but for the past generations as well

00:59:27including the generation

00:59:28in the first century

00:59:29that actually did the rejection

00:59:32and not only the ordinary people

00:59:33doing that

00:59:34but the leaders of the nation as well

00:59:39but if they will confess their sins

00:59:41and the sins of their ancestors

00:59:43I will remember my covenant with Jacob

00:59:46that's the Levitical law

00:59:48so we know they have to do that

00:59:50in Zechariah 12 verse 10

00:59:52we have this

00:59:53they will look to me

00:59:56the one they have pierced

00:59:57and they will mourn for him

00:59:58as one mourns for an only child

01:00:00and grieve bitterly for him

01:00:02as one grieves for a firstborn son

01:00:04the second thing they have to do

01:00:06is show contrition

01:00:09and grieve over the treatment

01:00:10of their Messiah

01:00:12by their own people

01:00:13including them in their day

01:00:15and the final thing they have to do

01:00:17is they have to plead

01:00:18with the Lord Jesus to come

01:00:21and when they do those three things

01:00:23he will

01:00:25and he will save them

01:00:26and I'm not going to talk about

01:00:28what happens after that

01:00:30because that's the whole other talk

01:00:31on its own

01:00:33and you were probably getting

01:00:34you know

01:00:35atrophy in the legs

01:00:37from having sat there so long

01:00:38listening to me

01:00:40a few things we can learn from this

01:00:42those of us who already know

01:00:43the Lord Jesus as our Saviour

01:00:48God goes to amazing lengths

01:00:51to keep his promise to the Jews

01:00:52that the nation would be saved

01:00:55he goes to incredible lengths

01:00:57over thousands of years

01:00:58to keep that promise

01:01:00that that nation would faithfully serve him

01:01:05if he goes to those lengths

01:01:07to keep his promises to Israel

01:01:09we can have pretty much confidence

01:01:11that he's going to go to incredible lengths

01:01:13to keep his promises to us

01:01:15because none of us sat here today

01:01:17are in our resurrection bodies

01:01:19none of us have received our salvation

01:01:20we've received promise

01:01:22of those things

01:01:23so we can be 100% confident

01:01:25that if he's going to spend

01:01:27two and a half thousand years

01:01:29keeping his promise to Israel

01:01:30a nation that rejects him

01:01:31and hates him anyway

01:01:32he'll keep his promise to us too

01:01:36and the other thing

01:01:37is that

01:01:37is this

01:01:38this is for the people

01:01:39who might be watching this video

01:01:41who don't know the Lord Jesus

01:01:43as their Saviour

01:01:47he promised Israel

01:01:48that he would save them

01:01:49and he did

01:01:50he also promises

01:01:51that if you

01:01:52do what Israel did

01:01:54or will do in the future

01:01:56if you turn to him

01:01:58and accept him

01:01:59as your Saviour

01:02:00if you ask

01:02:01forgiveness

01:02:02for your sins

01:02:04if you make him

01:02:05Lord of your life

01:02:06he'll save you as well

01:02:09and you can do it

01:02:10today

01:02:12don't wait

01:02:13two and a half thousand years

01:02:15you can do it today
