00:00I've got to ask you, Tim, I love talking to you about the history of the sport.
00:03Bill Mazeroski passes away a couple days ago, legendary pirate.
00:08You could make the argument, possibly Joe Carter, Bobby Thompson's 51 shot, Bucky Dent's shot.
00:15You could put that into the same context.
00:18Where does Mazeroski's 1960 shot in the World Series to give the Pirates the winner over the Yankees in that
00:24great, great World Series for the Pirates?
00:27I mean, they were getting annihilated in that series, if I'm not mistaken.
00:30But where does that home run rank for you, Tim?
00:35Well, that's the biggest home run of all time, in my opinion.
00:38And let's understand, you know, Hank Aaron passing Babe Ruth.
00:43That was a different situation.
00:45However, Mazeroski's home run for me is the biggest home run in baseball history.
00:51It's the only home run ever hit to end the World Series in Game 7.
00:58You know, Joe Carter's, of course, came in Game 6.
01:01And when you consider, like you said, Dan, what a route that was when the Yankees won their three games.
01:07And the Pirates came back to win 10-9.
01:10And by the way, in that game, zero strikeouts in Game 7 of the 1960 World Series.
01:18Think about that today.
01:20We averaged 18 strikeouts per game now, zero in that game.
01:24And, you know, Dan, Bill Mazeroski is arguably the greatest defensive second baseman of all time.
01:32And I don't think this is arguable.
01:34Nobody but nobody ever made the double play, the pivot, the turn at second base better than Bill Mazeroski.
01:42And his offensive numbers, maybe they're not Hall of Fame quantity, quality, but at the same time, you've got to
01:49look at the era in which he played.
01:51Guys were not scoring runs in the 60s.
01:54People weren't hitting .380 in the 60s.
01:56Those numbers as a second baseman were above average for sure.
02:01And then his defense made him a Hall of Famer.
02:03And then his defense made him a Hall of Famer.
