Machel Montano has broken the record for the most Road March wins.

The Trinbago Unified Calypsonians' Organisation announced today that the Soca Icon's 2026 Encore - got the most plays at the judging points for the Road March on Carnival Monday and Tuesday.

Voice who placed second and Bunji Garlin who placed third issued statements on their social media pages today thanking their supporters.

00:11and the feeling is only comparable to his first win in 1997.

00:39And to go beyond and to break a record, you know, it has to be a great feeling, you know,
00:47for Marshall Montano.

00:57In doing so, the Soka icon broke the late Lord Kitchener's record of 11 Roadmatch wins.

01:23Last week, following the private screening of his Like a Boss documentary at Movietown, Port of Spain, Marshall Montano was
01:30clear in his intention to win the 2026 Roadmatch, as he also announced his intention to bow out of the
01:36carnival limelight to focus on projects that would better benefit upcoming artists.
01:42I tried to win one more Roadmatch, just to like, just to have his shelf complete, you know, and then
01:48I could get it, but win, lose or draw, I go in, you know, that's it.
01:52This is, this is the end of one and the beginning of a new, new thing.
01:57Tuko's president announced the top three results on Ash Wednesday.
02:01In third place, we have Ian Alvarez, Bungee Garland, Song Roadman, played 97 times.
02:17In second place of the Tuko National Roadmatch for 2026, is Aaron St. Louis, voice, Carby Havre, played 127 times.
02:37And ladies and gentlemen, our Roadmatch for 2026 in the National Tuko Roadmatch competition, is Marshall Montano, encore, played 171
02:57times.
02:58Voice, who had been seeking his first Roadmatch win, said on his Instagram page on Ash Wednesday, that his heart
03:05is full, as he thanked his family, his support team, and everyone who supported his music.
03:11Voice further said, quote, Trinidad and Tobago thank you for making care behave what it is now, end quote.
03:17He further said, the energy and response were beyond anything he could have ever imagined.
03:21So Kalenjan and the past Roadmatch winner, Bungee Garland, registered his song on Carnival Friday for the Roadmatch competition, after
03:29having consistently announced he would bow out of the competition in 2026.
03:34On Ash Wednesday on the social media platform X, Bungee Garland said that he, quote, catch a third place still,
03:41yes? Thank you, thank you, end quote.
