00:40the homeland security minister gave an overall assessment i am quite satisfied with the efforts
00:47from the national security perspective and the majority of our citizens i am really impressed
00:53the behavior the way they're caring about their business and enjoying themselves both showing
00:59respect to visitors and to themselves i i am i am impressed the police commission expressed similar
01:06sentiments before making reference to what occurred in a part of woodbrook and in a part of saint james
01:11during juve celebrations on carnival monday there was an unfortunate incident of two persons being shot
01:18and one person being stabbed but that had nothing to do with the carnival that had to do with young
01:23violence if you recognize the persons who were injured and also the deceased they were all from
01:29the same area and they brought that into the carnival defense minister sturge spoke about the tragedy
01:35that occurred in saint james i mean terms of what happened juve morning with the teenager i think um
01:40that really that's not something we could have dealt with and we tried to rescue him and so on
01:45but if we get more cameras on the road and so on we might be able to have a little
01:48more um you know
01:49in terms of interdiction but um i was out on the avenue yesterday in other parts and there were police
01:57officers and defense force officers um the station at almost every corner so i think you can't get much
02:02better than that and as of carnival choosday morning thus far we have had no further reports of
02:08any carnival related violence the latter part of carnival 2026 occurred after the state of emergency
02:13without a curfew or any limitations on public gatherings ended on january 31st can can the level
02:20of uh policing uh the resources defense force and so on can be sustained in any way even in the
02:26short
02:26term after carnival of course attempts will be made but you remember we are humans we are we are not
02:33the ai
02:33so we will suffer from burnouts and different things all right so how you manage your manpower resources
02:39is important to how you go forward and how you will continue this journey in this fight the police
02:44commissioner described the turnout of the police carnival 2026 as having been tremendous
