00:53First of all, I would like to thank you for joining us despite the lockdown and I hope that every
01:01one of you are extremely well, safe from the COVID as well as your family.
01:10You are numerous joining us. We are extremely happy to have so many partners in this conversation and I would
01:22like to insist on a few elements which I believe are extremely important.
01:27First of all, as you know, in four years' time, we have created an event which is clearly and by
01:36far the number one in Europe for tech and innovation, for startups and transformation.
01:45It has become a catalyst, an incredible catalyst for transformation of large corp, for collaboration between large corp and startups,
01:59for innovation and also for showing the best and the new things that exist in the world.
02:10So, I'm very happy to tell you a few things about the coming edition of Viva Tech.
02:16First of all, we really want Maurice and myself to clearly outline the fact that there will be Viva Tech
02:22in 2021.
02:24It will happen on the 17th, 18th and 19th of June 2021.
02:30The teams have been working on this next edition for a month now and they have prepared hybrid formats which
02:38will allow us to adapt ourselves to the sanitary situation of the pandemics.
02:43Our fifth edition will be an incredibly strong international meeting point, should it be virtual or physical, for all of
02:53the actors, the players of the innovation in the world, around the world.
02:57You're going to be able to, again, grab the best of inspiration for the best speakers and also discover the
03:03most wonderful and most striking innovations.
03:05You have been there for most of you. You have seen what it has been. I can tell you that
03:11we will surpass in imagination and in innovation what has been done so far.
03:20Thanks a lot, Maurice and Pierre. Now we'd like to walk you through what we have learned from those past
03:26months and what we are planning for 2021.
03:28While going through a period of upheaval that is absolutely without precedence, particularly in terms of digital usage in France
03:38alone, teleworking increased fourfold during lockdown.
03:42Worldwide, the number of monthly Zoom users, I'm sure you're part of it, has been multiplied by five in only
03:50a year.
03:50Medical teleconsultation have been multiplied by 100 with signs that it will go on after a year.
03:58lockdown. As a consequence of the crisis, we are seeing a huge acceleration of digital transformation.
04:05Many studies have been published on this matter, but actually it seems that a gain of three to five years
04:11have been noticed,
04:13which can have a very powerful impact in terms of digital transformation and the impact that it can have on
04:20our business and societies.
04:22But at the same time, as we all more and more use digital use, we have witnessed a growing need
04:30to get in person and to reconnect.
04:33This crisis has also led to an unprecedented awareness of the environmental and social emergency and of the necessity for
04:42action has literally unfolded before our eyes.
04:46Just an example. During lockdown, the Himalayas became visible for 200 kilometers around, a first in more than 30 years,
04:55giving us powerful insights on our carbon footprint on the planet.
05:00The crisis has also accelerated certain inequalities, in particular for women and young people.
05:07That is to say for dudes who are already in a situation of inequality.
05:11A UN report showed that women were 19% more likely than men to lose their jobs during this crisis,
05:18especially because feminized sectors have been particularly affected.
05:23As a result, it raises a major question for all companies. How can they reconcile growth and impact and positive
05:33impact on their communities and environment?
05:35This is a growing demand from all stakeholders of company and government.
05:40And I'm sure that this is a question that you are fully tackling in your daily business life.
05:49Now, what will Vivitech 2021 look like? I'm thrilled to share with you what we have in store.
05:59To imagine the controls of Vivitech 2021, we went back to our fundamentals, which remain more relevant than ever.
06:07In just five years, and largely thanks to you, Vivitech has become the largest event dedicated to tech and startups
06:15in Europe.
06:15We bring together the best of innovation to inspire and to enable positive change for both business and society.
06:24We are globally recognized as a catalyst for digital transformation and startup growth.
06:30Our DNA is built around three pillars.
06:33The first one is inspiration, because Vivitech is the place where you listen to the greatest thinkers, leaders and entrepreneurs.
06:40The second one is connection. Vivitech is the place where corporations, startups, investors and academics from all over the world
06:49gather, meet and do business together.
06:52And finally, experience Vivitech is the place to discover the latest innovation, the latest startups that are transforming all sectors
07:00of activity.
07:01In four years, we have succeeded in uniting communities from all over the world.
07:07Last year, we gathered in Paris, more than 124,000 visitors.
07:11But our reach goes far beyond the Port de Versailles, because we have already reached more than 231 million people
07:20through our content.
07:22I mentioned earlier that Vivitech is the place for inspiration.
07:26Look at a few of the great speakers that we have been able to gather.
07:32Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Ma, President Macron, Margaret Bestager, Dara Kofschaei, John Collision.
07:38Those are just a few names of the community of leaders that we gather every year at Vivitech.
07:44To shape the new countries of Vivitech, we have looked at our strengths that I've been explaining briefly.
07:53But we have also surveyed our French and international startup community.
07:57This is what we have learned from them.
08:00They expect a lot from Vivitech, as you can see from these figures.
08:04The primary concern is about growth and winning new customers.
08:08They expect to meet their next customers at Vivitech, because they are telling us that with the crisis, the volume
08:15of their business has been reducing.
08:18It has slowed down.
08:19So Vivitech is going to be a big boost for their activity.

16:16But obviously, we won't forget to ask technology what are its responsibilities.
16:26And to make sure we ask and we raise the good question to the tech actors.
16:33Our commitment to the common good can also be reflected through some initiatives that we want to carry.
16:40The first one is what we call the good spot.
16:42We want some production materials of Vivatech to have a second life.
16:47And to help open what we call a tier lieu outside of Paris that will be dedicated to inclusion.
16:54The second one is that we want to focus our Saturday.
16:58You know, our general public day to education and to young people.
17:03We want all young people to benefit from the advantage of new technologies.
17:07To find a job, to launch their business and to really feel that this destiny is also going to be
17:16their destiny.
17:17And that they can thrive in the years to come, thanks to technology.
17:22And finally, we will partner with UNESCO.
17:25And we had planned to do so for the next edition.
17:28To source innovative startups for them to meet their main challenges around education for young women in Africa.
17:38Around preserving the world heritage.
17:42But also on preserving biodiversity.
17:44And finally, we practice what we preach.
17:48We're all heading down this path together.
17:51And we want Vivatech to be a collective commitment to reduce our footprint when it comes to participating to Vivatech.
18:00So we take this commitment and we want our partner to do so.
18:03That Vivatech will be 100% carbon offset.
18:07All layouts will be 100% equal design.
18:11All the energy used on site will be 100% green.
18:15We will serve only one hand but person sustainable food.
18:18And we will ban any single use of plastic.
18:21That's our commitment for next year.

18:46Our fourth principle this year is that we want to continue to strengthen our international dimension and gather innovators from
18:54all around the world.
18:56Capitalizing on the digital brick that we are adding to the event this year.
19:03This year again we decided to resume our Vivatech tour.
19:08With the format adapted to the sanitary conditions, hybrid or 100% digital depending on the situation.
19:15The Vivatech tour enables Vivatech to reach more and more tech ecosystems worldwide and to expand Vivatech's global dimension.
19:24It will allow to present Vivatech opportunities to start-ups all over the world by relying on VT's networks of
19:34accelerators, incubators and partners VCs around the world.
19:39We will start in London, Berlin Cape Town and Northern Europe before the end of the year to mobilize early
19:47the ecosystem where Vivatech is already well connected and must continue to develop.
19:58This year, in addition to our Africa Tech program, we are adding a Europa Tech program, two key geographies we
20:07are going to visit during the Vivatech tour.
20:10Africa Tech is the best of the African tech ecosystem, the most beautiful start-ups, country pavilions with their delegation
20:20and the private sectors that invest and develops on the ground.
20:26In 2019, nearly 1,000 participating start-ups came to Vivatech.
20:33Africa Tech has become even more important as the ecosystem continues to boom.
20:38It is 2 billion euros raised in 2019, a 75% increase over the previous year.
20:49Europe Tech is the mobilization of the European ecosystem to support the development of European digital champions.
20:59We saw 32 new unicorns in one year, according to the G.P. Bullhound study.
21:05Who participates? Top European business leaders, head of state, start-ups, VCs, media, etc.
21:14They all gather to discuss and highlight the particularities of the European ecosystem.
21:20Also, the next unicorn award will return for its second edition.
21:26By the way, important to note, several scale-ups that we had identified in 2019 have gone on to become
21:37unicorns as Vingtid, Miro and Algolia.
21:41We obviously counted on five of the most prestigious European VC's funds, namely Axel, Balgerton, Ideinvest, Northern and Partech,
21:51as well as the specialist investment bank G.P. Bullhound to select all these start-ups, all these scale-ups.
21:59Once again this year, the next European award will be in conjunction with the release of the Titan Tech report
22:09in June 2021.
22:16For the first time this year, VivaTech will also be present during the event in America, Asia and Africa,
22:28with local content production broadcast on our online platform and at VivaTech.
22:35This is what we have called the multiplex.
22:40It will allow us to create a non-stop program simultaneously during two days.
22:47We will rely on our partners, corporates and countries locally and on our local networks, media ecosystem to achieve this
22:58multiplex and make the VivaTech experience even more global.
23:03That the exact format is currently being defined.
23:08And we will soon come back to you with all the details.
23:12The best moment will be broadcast on our best of channel, which will be on air all night long with
23:19original content and rebroadcast of the best moments of the day,
23:24so that everyone can enjoy the VivaTech experience at their own pace.
23:33Over the past five years, we have built a strong network of international media partners with whom we collaborate to
23:42bring VivaTech to the fourth corner of the globe.
23:45This year, our goal is to go one step further with a year round collaboration and a massive presence in
23:57Paris during the three days of VivaTech and also locally on our satellite events, our multiplex.
24:04In 2019, more than 2500 journalists came to VivaTech and no less than 6500 articles were published during 10 days
24:19in the media from around the world.
24:27As you can see, the program of VivaTech is quite intense for the three days.
24:36So we have decided to foster it during all year long and to facilitate and to animate our community to
24:48engage it all around the year.
24:52We are very excited to offer more occasion to gather our communities.
24:58So we enriched our VIP program and added a founders program to facilitate the meetings between investors and scale up
25:08founders.
25:10We have also decided to share more and to go further in the animation of our communities all year long.
25:19We want to amplify the networking, but also to offer you some inspirational moments.
