00:00:37Good evening from Celtic Park, paradise awaits the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.
00:01:05Celtic have arrived to the east end of Glasgow, led out the bus by the leader Martin O'Neill
00:01:12for his first home tie at Celtic Park in the Scottish Cup since way back in January 2005
00:01:20when Celtic defeated Rangers 2-1, Hartson and Sutton were the goalscorers on that occasion.
00:01:25And we would take a win today to book our place in the quarterfinals
00:01:31as Celtic enter the stadium ready for a tough tie against former Celtic player and now manager of Dundee Stephen Presley's side.
00:01:41I'm delighted to say I've been joined here by our Scottish Cup winner in his own right, Simon Donnelly, here at Celtic Park.
00:01:48Simon, welcome along Scottish Cup, special memories to you but exciting I imagine for the Celtic fans watching at home and the crowd today.
00:01:56A few couple of new signings in there as well so what do you expect from today?
00:02:00Yeah just exactly that, Dylan just a little bit of excitement, a good performance, yeah we'll be able to see a couple of the new faces, particularly one when you
00:02:10give us the team shortly but yeah I'm just looking forward to a good performance, you're saying 20 years since Martin O'Neill, it's 30 years since my victory in 95, distant memories but special nevertheless.
00:02:23Yeah, it'll be 31, 31 this coming May Simon but yeah let's go and have a little look at Martin O'Neill's side for tonight.
00:02:33Sinisalo, he replaces Kasper Schmeichel in goal with one of the five changes from the win against Falkirk last week, of course Celtic had the postponement on Wednesday night from the game at Aberdeen.
00:02:46So they've had a week to prepare so it's Sinisalo in goals, it's Araujo, trusty, Scales and Tierney that makes up the back four.
00:02:53Callum McGregor, captain's the side as usual, Rio Hattate, Paulo Bernardo in midfield and on the wings it's Joel Mbuka for his debut, Yang and Thomas Schvantura on the bench.
00:03:04It's Duhan, Negrin, Adamu, may get a little look at him, Luke McEwan, Sebastian Tenekte, Marcel Sarrachi makes a return from injury, Dane Murray, James Forrest and Colby Donovan.
00:03:16Simon, just give us your quick thoughts on Martin O'Neill's side this afternoon.
00:03:20Yeah, strong back four Dylan, strong back four. I thought Araujo last week was fantastic and the other three we're familiar with.
00:03:27It's a familiar looking midfield, albeit Hattate hasn't played in recent weeks and Bernardo hasn't had much game time but these are guys that have been over the course many a time for Celtic.
00:03:38And then we look to the front three, Yang is the man on form, Chvantura has had a fantastic start and the new boy in Vuka in tonight.
00:03:47It'll be interesting to see what he can contribute.
00:03:49Yeah, we've got him positioned in the graphic out in the right wing, he is a left footer on loan from Lorient.
00:03:56He had the first sample of Celtic Park when he was back at Bodo Glimp, the Norwegian winger.
00:04:03So he makes his debut tonight for Celtic so that will be quite exciting for the Celtic fans.
00:04:09And of course Junior Adamu on the bench as well.
00:04:11So some options there on the striking front that Martin O'Neill hasn't had prior to today.
00:04:18Yeah, and that's really what the manager's been crying out for, you know, a little bit of depth to the squad and some guys on the bench there that he can look to freshen things up.
00:04:26The new striker and Sirachi's back as well.
00:04:29And all of a sudden the squad's looking healthy again for the running.
00:04:33So that's not to mention today any actual Maeda angles.
00:04:38So, yeah, I think Martin will be quite satisfied with the selection there.
00:04:42And it'll be interesting to see how the starting eleven do and then if we can get the opportunity to get the new boy Adamu on in the second half maybe.
00:04:49Yeah, absolutely.
00:04:50Well, let's hear from Martin O'Neill.
00:04:52He spoke with John Ledworth in the Celtic Park tunnel area just a little bit earlier on.
00:04:57Martin, before I turn to the game, you've managed to secure the services of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
00:05:02I'm sure you're pleased to have done that.
00:05:04What do you hope he's going to bring to your squad and when do you hope to have him available?
00:05:08Well, that's a couple of good points.
00:05:10I think obviously if he's still got the hunger, I think he can add something to the team.
00:05:15We are at this minute, although that can change very, very quickly, including today.
00:05:19We are going on a number of fronts at this minute.
00:05:22There seems to be no respite in terms of games.
00:05:24So from that viewpoint, he'll come and add a little bit of experience to us, you know, help us out, hopefully during the course of time.
00:05:30More than that, I think that if he gets himself properly fit, which I think he can do because I was speaking to him or saw him last night,
00:05:39he seems in pretty good condition, just getting up to speed in matches, then I think he can add something to the midfield.
00:05:45As frustrated as you would have been with the cancellation midweek, has it in some ways afforded you a little bit more preparation time for today
00:05:51and maybe to look at some of the new guys you've brought in?
00:05:54Yeah, I think that's the point.
00:05:56I'm always fearful about saying about looking, just looking at players. We have to do that, I must admit.
00:06:00But then again, just in terms of a little bit of rotation, just so that if we could, yeah, it's just really probably as simple as that there.
00:06:11A bit of rotation, really. Casper's out at this moment.
00:06:15He's had a shoulder injury for some time. He's got an injection with that there.
00:06:20That'll settle down then over the weekend and hopefully everything is all right.
00:06:24But from here on in, including today, it's just game after game and hopefully we're ready for the challenge.
00:06:29Yeah, there is a freshness to your side today in the middle of the park.
00:06:32A big opportunity for Paulo Bernardo and Rio Hattate to reinstate themselves in your thoughts.
00:06:37And a debut for VUCA in the front line.
00:06:40Yeah. Well, in fairness, I think that Rio's never really been out of our thoughts and he's played a lot of games since in my time here.
00:06:48And obviously a lot before that there. Paulo is, you know, the only game that he's played under me, really, the one that he started in was the cup game in the previous round.
00:06:57So here, this is an opportunity. But I don't want him to just think that over this 90 minutes that he has to prove himself as a player.
00:07:05I just want him to go and play to the capabilities that he definitely possesses.
00:07:10So from that viewpoint, yeah, that little winger will, I'm hoping that he does well.
00:07:16You know, honestly, lovely little lad and he's got a bit of pace about him.
00:07:20So, yeah, but it's, you know, sometimes coming here, playing for Celtic in your first game, I think it's, you know, you can be a little bit nervous.
00:07:28So hopefully he can throw that to the side and get on with it.
00:07:32And you'll know the place the Scottish Cup holds and the hearts of Celtic supporters.
00:07:36What would it mean to you and the squad to safely navigate this one? Because Dundee have been going well.
00:07:41Oh, this is a difficult task for us. No question about that there. Dundee have a lot of very, very fine players in the side.
00:07:48And the changes were as much to do with the schedule ahead.
00:07:54We could, I mean, we could get dumped out of two competitions, very quick succession here, you know.
00:07:59So we're just trying, we'll do our utmost to try and get through.

00:08:18What is the news of Alex Oxlade? Chamberlain has made the move to Celtic officially.
00:08:23Of course, he was a free agent after his time in Turkey came to an end last season.
00:08:28He's joining the club initially until the end of the season with an option of a further year.
00:08:33Gerry McCulloch caught up with a former Liverpool and Arsenal man at Lennox Town earlier today
00:08:38to get his thoughts on becoming a Celtic player.
00:08:41Alex, welcome to Celtic. It's great to see you there in the hoops.
00:08:58How's the last few days been for you and how pleased are you to be here?
00:09:01Yeah, it's been obviously a busy few days. Long travel.
00:09:06But yeah, no, I'm delighted. I'm really excited.
00:09:09And I think the manager must have just caught wind that didn't have a job.
00:09:13And he seemed interested and I spoke with him.
00:09:18And I was really excited by everything that I heard. Him and Sean Maloney also.
00:09:23And it's just a massive club, right?
00:09:26I know everything there is to know about Celtic.
00:09:28My dad's obviously from that era where it's a massive, massive club.
00:09:32So just to have the opportunity to come up here on Best Mates with Andy Robertson as well.
00:09:37So it didn't take much convincing from him.
00:09:40And yeah, it came about that way.
00:09:42Speaking with the manager just felt like the perfect fit for me.
00:09:45And I feel like I can come in and help out the lads.
00:09:48Yeah. I mean, Celtic's a huge club. It sells itself.
00:09:51But Martin O'Neill can be pretty convincing as well.
00:09:53What did he say to you on the phone?
00:09:55He just sort of more wanted to, you know, cross-check how I was, where I've been training.
00:10:00Obviously I'd been training at Arsenal for a good three months.
00:10:04So he wanted to sort of hear about that and hear how I was in the situation I was.
00:10:09Hear how my last few seasons went out in Turkey.
00:10:12And just get a bit of background on my situation.
00:10:15And then I sort of explained everything.
00:10:18And he sort of said, well, I'd love to have you up here.
00:10:22And it was just sort of quite seamless.
00:10:26And I think a lot of these times when you're in these situations,
00:10:29there can be a lot of opinions back and forth with teams when you're talking.
00:10:33And you just want the opportunity to go and play.
00:10:35And the manager here, he sort of maybe a bit more old school in that manner,
00:10:40where he just said, are you ready to come and play?
00:10:42I said, yeah, absolutely.
00:10:43And here we are. We're ready to get cracking.
00:10:46Yeah, you're an experienced guy.
00:10:47I'm sure there were other offers, but did this just feel right?
00:10:50Yeah, definitely.
00:10:52Just really chatting to them guys.
00:10:55I think speaking with Sean also and him telling me the expectations on the club,
00:11:00what it means to play here, what our targets are and that he's going to push me.
00:11:06That's all the stuff that I sort of identify with.
00:11:09And that's the environment that I've always been in and been lucky enough to be in.
00:11:13So all of that, along with what the manager had to say, it just felt right for me
00:11:18and felt like a really good challenge.
00:11:20And it's exactly what I need.
00:11:22I need another challenge, obviously lucky enough to a massive club like this.
00:11:27And yeah, I think they can help me get back to where I need to get to.
00:11:31And more importantly, I need to help the team achieve the goals that we want to do.

00:12:03Give us your reaction to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain signing for Celtic.
00:12:06I think it's an exciting one.
00:12:08I think when his name was first raised, the only concern would be lack of game time.
00:12:12And I think he's touched on it there as well.
00:12:14That was Martin O'Neill's concern.
00:12:15Asked him.
00:12:16He's been turning at Arsenal for three months.
00:12:18He looks in good shape.
00:12:19Mentally, he's played at big clubs.
00:12:21He's a winner.
00:12:22So I think he'll take Celtic in his stride.
00:12:24And if he can keep himself fit, he won't be match fit right away.
00:12:28But if he can keep himself fit and get into this team, I think he's got a lot to offer.
00:12:31I think he's experienced and there's no doubt in his quality.
00:12:34Well, he's of course not in the starting 11 or the squad tonight, having just arrived at the club.
00:12:41I know he's here at the stadium, so I expect he will take the game in.
00:12:45But he will want to make his debut on Wednesday night under the lights at Celtic Park
00:12:50and at home against Livingstone, which is every game is so big in the Scottish Premiership at the moment.
00:12:55Yeah, and I just think he'll bring something different.
00:12:57We look to that midfield and we always look to the skipper to carry that midfield with his experience and his success in there.
00:13:05I think this guy's a similar ilk, you know, carrying the ball forward.
00:13:09He's aggressive.
00:13:10He's strong.
00:13:11I believe he's maybe going to make an appearance here just now, Dylan.
00:13:14Well, absolutely.
00:13:15On cue.
00:13:16I love when that happens, Simon.
00:13:17It's fantastic.
00:13:18And there he is in the Green and White Hoops, former Premier League winner Alex Oxley in Chamberlain,

00:13:28A great moment for him, having not had a club, he's back at a big club and he's at Celtic Football Club.
00:13:35And we look forward to seeing him pulling on the Green and White Hoops as the season continues, Simon.

00:13:42He's got that mentality of, he's played at Arsenal, he's been at Liverpool, you know, so that big club does not faze him.
00:13:52And I'd expect him to take that in his stride, 32, he's got plenty of experience.
00:13:58And if he is fighting fit, he will be a valuable asset from now to the end of the season and possibly longer.

00:15:23He will want to win this competition more than anybody, I imagine, especially after that penalty shootout.

00:15:32But there's very much a double in the offing as well this season for us to go and take in this game tonight.
00:15:39It's another one closer to that final, but it's a big evening and hopefully we can get the win.

00:15:52One of the things I have to point out for Dundee, Simon, is that, you know, Simon Murray scored 21 goals last season,
00:16:01but Dundee are just lacking in goals this season and they're not scoring a lot at all.
00:16:05Yeah, I mean, they had a fantastic season last season and he was actually mentioned at one point for the national team.
00:16:11That was how successful his season had been, but they're lacking a little bit this season.
00:16:16And I just think with the way Celtic will be new faces as well, the set up here under the lights of Celtic Park,
00:16:22I think they'll be too strong tonight for Dundee.
00:16:25Well, Celtic versus Dundee in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.

00:16:34Of course, both sides had postponements during the week, so they've had the full week to prepare.
00:16:40Dundee were meant to host Motherwell, I believe it was, out at Dens Park.
00:16:47I imagine there was a massive puddle in the corner of Dens Park and the East Coast just being brutalised with bad weather.
00:16:56And it doesn't really seem like it's stopping. A lot of the Scottish Cup ties have fell victim to it.
00:17:02Let's go through the teams once again.

00:17:36So Dundee, they've got a pretty awful record, Simon, against Celtic.
00:17:40You have to go back almost 25 years for the last time they won at Celtic Park.
00:17:44But they did end a pretty horrible record for themselves earlier this season.
00:17:491988 was the last time they had beaten Celtic at Dens Park and they ended that.
00:17:53So I would, I imagine not many people would imagine Steven Presley would have lasted as long as he has.
00:18:00But he's got this Dundee side playing well and they're just doing it all.
00:18:05Yeah, they've moved away from the wrong end of the table, so to speak, in the league.
00:18:10And they've got this fixture tonight. It's, you know, it's a chance for them to go and have a go at Celtic.
00:18:15I firmly believe Celtic will be too strong for them on the night.
00:18:19But yeah, it's just a little bit of caution, you know, that result at Dens.
00:18:23And it just, it's the same every week. Preparation, you have to be on it.
00:18:28You have to be on it in the first minute here and hopefully we get a quick start.
00:18:33And it will be Dundee to take centre, shooting from right to left.
00:18:39Looks like they're in a changed kit, so a bit of blue and red in their kit.

00:20:09Maybe not, but I think they'll come here and, as you said, they want to get through this first period of the game.
00:20:15Without conceding anything, there's nothing worse than coming to Celtic Park and giving away something early.
00:20:22Well, it was only a 1-0 defeat back in what was, we thought, Martin O'Neill's final game back in December.

01:12:04side was superb Griffiths directed his header back across goal Bain could only palm it away and there
01:12:10was Stefan Johansson maybe he should start shooting with his weaker right foot all the time but that's
01:12:14what you want from Stefan Johansson just in following up there a perfect finish it's no more than he's
01:12:18deserved it's no more than Celtic's play deserved it's 2-0 and we're heading hopefully towards the quarter final
