00:01:00Two-time Scottish Cup winners in their quest to be the team that lifts the Scottish Cup at the end
00:01:05of May.
00:01:05This time around starts tonight here at Rugby Park.
00:01:10McEwen right-footed cross.
00:01:11Kenny's in there.
00:01:14It's Tenechty.
00:01:16What a goal.
00:01:19One to the box.
00:01:20Tenechty does well.
00:01:21It's in.
00:01:21Junior Adjami.
00:01:25Tenechty.
00:01:26Got Sarachi with him.
00:01:28Goes quick.
00:01:29Here's Tenechty.
00:01:33Thomas Tranchara.
00:01:35It's Tranchara.
00:01:36It's scores!
00:01:39Celtic are through to the Scottish Cup semi-final.
00:01:44Celtic just come out of the tunnel alongside their opponents, St Marin.
00:01:47Well, here's Ryan Mullen.
00:01:49He's been closed down.
00:01:50Maeda, has he got it?
00:01:51Yeah!
00:01:52He is!
00:01:53Tyson Maeda!
00:01:56Back heels it for Ralston.
00:01:58Yeah!
00:02:00James Forrest can't get the ball into the box.
00:02:03It's a good ball.
00:02:04And it's up.
00:02:04It's in the net.
00:02:08Forrest zips the pass across.
00:02:10Here's McEwen.
00:02:11It's Luke McEwen!
00:02:16McEwen in the space.
00:02:18Ian Acho.
00:02:19He turns.
00:02:20Gets the shot away!
00:02:22Colenchi Ian Acho has arrived in this Scottish Cup semi-final.
00:02:27It's Negrin!
00:02:30And Celtic have put on the style at last!
00:02:43Well, all roads have led to the National Stadium.
00:02:47It is the Scottish Cup final.
00:02:49Celtic have arrived in Mount Florida.
00:02:52Led by Martin O'Neill and their captain, Callum McGregor,
00:02:56once again for another Cup final.
00:02:59And after last week's 56th title in their history,
00:03:03clinched in euphoric fashion in Paradise,
00:03:06all that is left is to clinch the 43rd Scottish Cup
00:03:11and a double as well.
00:03:14So, we've been joined here in the National Stadium.
00:03:17I'm Dalen Doherty, joined by Simon Donnelly.
00:03:20Simon, a Scottish Cup winner.
00:03:22As they would say, the pitch is bathed in sunshine.
00:03:26It's what they would say.
00:03:27Celtic weather.
00:03:28How much are we looking forward to this one today
00:03:30and Celtic to end the season the way they want to with another trophy?
00:03:34Yeah, really looking forward to it, Dalen.
00:03:36Another special day here at Hamden, the National Stadium.
00:03:39Celtic in yet another Scottish Cup final.
00:03:43At the end of a season that's thrown up everything,
00:03:46just about everything that we expect in a season.
00:03:51Dramatic scenes at Celtic Park last week,
00:03:53getting over the line so late in the game again.
00:03:56But this team just don't know when they're beat.
00:03:58You know, they refuse to give up.
00:04:00So many last-ditch goals this season, important goals.
00:04:04And the team came really strong at the right time,
00:04:06seven wins out of seven to get another championship over the line.
00:04:11And again, today, Martin O'Neill in the dugout,
00:04:14looking at a possible double.
00:04:16And of course, who's in the opposite dugout?
00:04:17Yes, just adds to the match.
00:04:19He said underdogs, they can bite sometimes.
00:04:22He doesn't want to be the underdog.
00:04:23It's former manager, obviously a legend of the club as well,
00:04:27Neil Lennon.
00:04:27How does he look at this one today?
00:04:29Just an opportunity to go and win another piece of silverware.
00:04:33You know, he's leading with them himself as a manager
00:04:36and a player at Celtic.
00:04:38He's against the mentor today, the master in the other dugout.
00:04:42He didn't fancy that, didn't he?
00:04:44The master and the pupil.
00:04:45He said he was a bit too old to be the pupil.
00:04:47Well, I think he still is with Martin there.
00:04:50But who would have thought it at the start of the season?
00:04:52You know, Neil's had a great season domestically with Devon Fairman.
00:04:55Just pipped in the playoffs by Partick.
00:04:58Got the club to another cup final,
00:05:00which is no mean feat at all.
00:05:01But he's up against, as I say, a wily old fox in Martin O'Neill.
00:05:06Now that wily old fox, Martin O'Neill,
00:05:09back for another Scottish Cup final after 21 years.
00:05:13And his starting 11 is as follows.
00:05:16It's Viljami Sinasalo in goals,
00:05:18a back four of Alistair Johnston,
00:05:20Austin Trusty, Liam Scales and Kieran Tierney.
00:05:23In midfield, it's Anna Engels,
00:05:25Callum McGregor and Benjamin Negrin.
00:05:28And up front, he's on the wing.
00:05:31James Forrest for another cup final.
00:05:33His 14th for Celtic.
00:05:35Yang, fresh off signing a new deal yesterday.
00:05:38And leading the line, the man of the moment last week,
00:05:41along with Callum Osmond on the bench, of course.
00:05:43It is Tyson Maeda.
00:05:45And Simon, just give us your thoughts on that.
00:05:47One change for Martin O'Neill.
00:05:48Yeah, it's an interesting one.
00:05:50James has been over the course so many times.
00:05:53He's played in so many finals.
00:05:55Scored on this occasion.
00:05:57So the experience has maybe leaned towards that for this game.
00:06:01It's a strong team again.
00:06:02I actually thought maybe with the way they finished last week,
00:06:05the 3-5-2,
00:06:06going for it to try and get that second goal against Harts.
00:06:10And so well how the young Osmond boy did with Ineacho.
00:06:14I thought that might have been something
00:06:15that would have been in their heads today.
00:06:17But they've stayed with the familiarity of the shape.
00:06:19And as you say,
00:06:20just the one change with the experience of Forrest coming in.
00:06:22Yeah, absolutely.
00:06:23And we'll talk a little bit more about that later on.
00:06:26Of course, Martin O'Neill gave his thoughts to Matthew Campbell
00:06:29earlier on after picking his starting 11
00:06:32for this cup final against Unferno.
00:06:35Let's hear from the manager now.
00:06:37Martin, what an occasion.
00:06:38It's the showpiece event of the season.
00:06:41How much are you looking forward to walking out this tunnel?
00:06:44Oh, I'm looking forward to it immensely.
00:06:45You know, ever since we got through in the semi-final
00:06:49after extra time.
00:06:50And yeah, great.
00:06:52Obviously, a big opponent in Neil Lennon
00:06:55and the team itself.
00:06:57But we've got to try and be ready for the game.
00:06:58I'm sure we are.
00:06:59I think we are.
00:07:01We've had a good couple of days since last week.
00:07:05And now it's just total concentration in the game.
00:07:08You mentioned the other day when we spoke about
00:07:09having to deal with the match and the opposition,
00:07:12but also having to deal with the expectation that is there
00:07:14that's put upon the team from the support
00:07:17here and all around the world.
00:07:18This team have shown time and again
00:07:20that they've got the mentality to win.
00:07:21Have you got complete faith in them here today?
00:07:22I have, yes, of course.
00:07:24You're talking about expectation,
00:07:26but there's expectation in every Celtic team
00:07:27every single season.
00:07:29So from that viewpoint, there's nothing that really changes.
00:07:32But today, we should be coming into this game
00:07:34with a lot of confidence.
00:07:35That's the most important thing
00:07:37because of what happened last week
00:07:39and what has happened in the previous six or seven weeks.
00:07:41We see, obviously, only one change to the starting line-up
00:07:45with James Forrest coming in to the match.
00:07:48He's a man who's won so much,
00:07:49literally more than anyone else in Celtics history.
00:07:51These are the days where players like him,
00:07:53you know, we need players like that,
00:07:55guys with his experience.
00:07:56Well, Neil Lennon gave him his debut years and years ago.
00:07:58He's the most decorated player in Celtics history
00:08:00and that says a lot for a lot of players
00:08:02who have won a lot of medals.
00:08:05And he's been a great impact player for us
00:08:07coming off the bench.
00:08:08He's changed the course of matches in recent weeks
00:08:10and an opportunity for him to start the game.
00:08:14We'll see how it goes.
00:08:15And finally, Martin, you know,
00:08:16we spoke earlier in the week,
00:08:18but, you know, if you rewind 20-odd years,
00:08:21you were here for the first time round
00:08:22leading us into Scottish Cup finals.
00:08:24Could you have imagined that you'd be here again?
00:08:26Absolutely not.
00:08:27Not at all.
00:08:27It's really, I know, I can't find another adjective
00:08:30to describe it.
00:08:32It's surreal.
00:08:32It really is.
00:08:33And it's amazing,
00:08:35but I might as well try and enjoy it
00:08:36if it's at all possible.
00:08:38Absolutely.
00:08:38Well, here's hoping we can all enjoy it, Martin.
00:08:39Thanks very much.
00:08:40Pleasure.
00:08:46Thanks to Martin O'Neill
00:08:48speaking with Matthew Campbell
00:08:50a little bit earlier on here
00:08:51at the National Stadium
00:08:52for the Scottish Cup final.
00:08:53Now, let's turn our attention
00:08:56to the Celtics' left-back position.
00:08:58He's actually had a bit of a mixed bag
00:09:00in these Cup finals over the years.
00:09:02He was subbed off in the 2017 final
00:09:05for a facial injury,
00:09:06made a dash up the stairs,
00:09:08lifted the trophy
00:09:09to rapturous applause
00:09:10from the Celtic fans.
00:09:122018 clinched the double treble
00:09:13along with his teammates
00:09:15and then 2019 missed out on his final cup final
00:09:18before heading down the road
00:09:20to Arsenal.
00:09:21So, there's a chance here
00:09:22for Kieran Tierney
00:09:23to put some ghosts to bed
00:09:26as he now looks ahead
00:09:28to this final
00:09:29as I caught up with him
00:09:30earlier this week
00:09:31at Lennox Town.
00:09:32in the Champions League.
00:09:44And now that the few days have passed
00:09:47since the dramatic title win,
00:09:49have you had a chance to probably
00:09:50take it all in
00:09:51and just digest the fact
00:09:54that you are a champion once again?
00:09:56No yet, to be honest. I think it's because we did enjoy it, but as soon as we came back
00:10:01to training it was full focus on the cup final and much credit to the boys because you could
00:10:08be still speaking about it and because it was an amazing day. The amount of people that have
00:10:12texted us or said to us could be the best ever and I agree with that, it's true, but I
00:10:19think
00:10:20when you come here you need to focus on the cup final and finish the season on a high.
00:10:24You've now won five league titles as a Celtic player. I spoke to you on the pitch, you have
00:10:29the emotion running through you at that moment, but personally where does that rank in all of them?
00:10:33Top. I said that in one of my interviews. I was like this is the one I wanted the most
00:10:37and it's for different reasons. It's not taking anything away from the others and how hard they
00:10:42were to achieve. It was just this one had been the hardest and where we were at points people
00:10:48had wrote us off. We were so far behind and probably low in confidence at times as well.
00:10:54But I think the character that we showed and the belief was incredible to come back and win it in
00:11:00like dramatic style like that is why it's the top one for me.
00:11:04So the league win, it's in the past now that that celebration will continue on into the summer,
00:11:10but the focus as you say now switches to Hampden Park and the chance to finish the season with a
00:11:17double. Many would have thought that would have been the case months ago. Your captain believe,
00:11:22you believe, how focused are you on making sure that happens?
00:11:27Massively. Because when I came back here one of the things I got asked was
00:11:30what's your ambitions and it was to keep Celtic successful. These last however many years have
00:11:37been really good for Celtic with the trophies they've won and the success they've had. So I just
00:11:42want to keep continuing that and tomorrow is a massive chance for that to get another trophy.
00:11:48This weekend could bring your 10th trophy as a Celtic player. Winning has just became the norm here.
00:11:54Is that something that you might take with you when you leave Celtic once again in the future,
00:12:00that you've managed to bring in so many trophies? Ten trophies at Celtic is not the norm, but it almost
00:12:07is the norm. Nowadays it is. I think that's the standards that have been set for the last
00:12:1210 years or so. I think that's why so many people love playing here. Because you can be successful
00:12:22and you can have good moments in your career that you'll remember forever. I've had a few of them
00:12:28and I hope to have a few more. There's an interesting angle to the final two with Neil
00:12:32Lennon in the opposite dugout. You worked with him briefly in 2019. What memories do you have of
00:12:38Neil Lennon as your manager and how special will that be to see him go against Martin?
00:12:42Yeah, it's mad. It's one of the things you think is kind of written that day too. Because I know
00:12:49Neil Lennon looks up to Martin a lot and he worked under him and I know they're still close.
00:12:55But I really enjoyed my time with Neil Lennon because I think he again cared so much for the club
00:13:01and he can give players a lot of confidence and enjoy playing under him and probably wish I could have
00:13:07a bit more time under him as well.
00:13:19Yeah, it was great to speak with Kieran Tierney there and he spoke very well of Neil Lennon
00:13:25and his time under the Dunfermline manager. When he was the Celtic interim manager back in 2019,
00:13:32of course he saw Celtic across the line in that season, Simon Neil Lennon to clinch the treble treble,
00:13:38he'd done the quadruple treble as well, so it's a very experienced manager Celtic's going up against
00:13:45here, so he will know everything about Celtic and especially everything he knows is what Martin
00:13:50O'Neill taught him. Yeah, exactly. So you can't underestimate it as a final, Dillon,
00:13:55they've done brilliantly, they beat Hibbs and Aberdeen on the way to this final. So you can't
00:14:02underestimate them. Polkirk as well, of course. Polkirk as well in the semi, yeah, so three
00:14:06scalps from the Premiership, so you cannot underestimate them at all and, you know, I played in a
00:14:11game that wasn't the cup, the Scottish Cup, it was the lead cup against Rafe Rovers in 94, so you
00:14:16have
00:14:16to get out there and treat it with the utmost respect, which Martin O'Neill and his players have done
00:14:21in
00:14:21recent times, this Celtic team know how to get things done and they'll also have the upset of the
00:14:26league cup final at the turn of the year there against St. Murden, so a few, as you say,
00:14:31ghosts to put to bed this afternoon, but you just do not underestimate them throwing a
00:14:36new win. And one of the biggest ghosts for this Celtic team is a year ago tomorrow they lost on
00:14:42the
00:14:43penalty shootout against Aberdeen. We were there. We were here, of course, so it's that experience as well,
00:14:49you know, Callum McGregor was in tears on the pitch that afternoon, he'll be wanting to put that to
00:14:56bed as much as anybody and clinch this double in a season where he said that he believed but nobody
00:15:03else did. Yeah, listen, Celtic have been super successful in recent times, but there has been
00:15:09setbacks at different times, the last two national finals have been a prime example of it, it's just a
00:15:15reminder of how hard it is to continuously get over the line, which they've done brilliantly, and it's
00:15:20another hurdle today but I'm sure they can do it, they've got the experience here in the team, you look
00:15:25at the likes of Tierney, McGregor and Forrest, they've been over the course so many times, you add in to
00:15:30that now guys like Maeda, who have been so successful at the club, I firmly expect the guys to get
00:15:35the job done.
00:15:36Well Maeda, he's an icon of this football club now, let's be honest, he's really put himself in
00:15:42that category after the run he's had over the last few weeks, but let's talk about the atmosphere
00:15:48Simon, the Dunfermline fans have come through from Fife, they've been certainly having a really good
00:15:54season, got into the playoffs, obviously beat by Parthic Thistle in the end, but places bathed in
00:15:59black and white in the corner and it's full places in green and white as well, so it's a real
00:16:04cup
00:16:04final atmosphere. Atmosphere's brilliant, had two great years at Dunfermline, we actually played Celtic in the
00:16:09league cup final whilst I was there, Celtic I think beat us 3-0 that time, big deal on Dublin
00:16:15scoring
00:16:15and the clubs are, you know the relationship between the two, Jocksteen, 1961 cup final,
00:16:22Dunfermline won, Jocksteen was the manager, they're a fantastic club and nailed it brilliantly to get
00:16:27them here this afternoon, they'll be full of hope, obviously they're leaning towards Celtic here,
00:16:32they want to see the doubles get them achieved. Yeah, absolutely, it was a double back in 2004 and
00:16:38that man, Martin O'Neill, led the team out onto the pitch for Henrik Larsson's farewell
00:16:45in what was an unbelievable occasion, Celtic in their bottle green top against Dunfermline in their
00:16:52white kit, that occasion, Celtic in the green and white hoops this afternoon, Dunfermline in their
00:16:59away change kit of red, teams are in the tunnel, they're just waiting on Dunfermline to arrive around
00:17:09the corner, as Neil Lennon has his final say in the dressing room.
00:17:22And the teams are there now, Stephen McLean, the referee, with the ball in his hands.
00:17:31There's another cup final beckons for Celtic, another chance to make history, they are the most
00:17:37successful team in Scotland, they are the most successful team in this competition,
00:17:42and they'll be looking to take the Scottish Cup, the oldest trophy in world football, back to the
00:17:48trophy room in the boardroom at Celtic Park for another season, after it's time away.
00:17:59And here they come, at Hampden Park, the national stadium, Celtic and Dunfermline walk out,
00:18:07for the Scottish Cup final, led by two men whose stories are just so deeply tied into the history
00:18:15of Celtic football club. Martin O'Neill leads out the champions of Scotland, looking to add
00:18:22the Scottish Cup to the league title, and complete the double on the other side, as Neil Lennon, he leads
00:18:30out Dunfermline athletic back facing the club where he made such an impression as player, captain and manager.
00:18:39It is some picture, O'Neill and Lennon, once manager and player, once together through some of Celtic's
00:18:46biggest modern moments, now opposite numbers on Scottish Cup final day, as the fireworks fly into
00:18:54the air. O'Neill has been here before, as we said, against this opposition, beat Dunfermline back in
00:19:022004 to complete the double. The clubs also met in 2007, when Celtic won 1-0. Jon-Jo Perrier
00:19:09Dumbe was the hero that afternoon, while Dunfermline's famous 1961 triumph came against Celtic with
00:19:17the great Jockstein as their manager. So there is definitely history in this fixture and in the
00:19:24dugouts and another trophy is on the line for Celtic at the end of such a dramatic season.
00:19:31Celtic are chasing the double, Dunfermline are here trying to write a bit of their own history and add
00:19:38another chapter in their Scottish Cup's history. The teams are out, Hampden is ready, the atmosphere
00:19:45is electric, and we can now go through the starting 11 once again for Celtic first. It's
00:19:52Phil Jameis in the salvo and goals. Alistair Johnson, Austin Trusted, Liam Scales and Kieran Tierney.
00:19:58Arna Engles and Callum McGregor, the captain as ever, in midfield with Benjamin Negrin,
00:20:04and up top it's James Forrest, Yang and Dyson Maeda. And for Dunfermline, it is
00:20:14certainly a task to try and contain this Celtic team with the gap in quality between the two sides,
00:20:20and Neil Lennon has certainly looked to try and contain the champions of Scotland.
00:20:27Back in goal, it's Aston Oxborough, he of course was taken out and recalled by Motherwell,
00:20:33but he's back at the cards for the cup final. Jeremiah Chilacoa, Mullen the captain on the day,
00:20:38John Todd and Kieran and Gwena round out a back three we think. And in midfield it's Matty Todd,
00:20:44Charlie Gilmer, Nourandine Abdoulaye and former Rangers Academy product Robbie Fraser.
00:20:50Andrew Todd, he's distinct in appearance from his football goggles, he leads the way in midfield with
00:20:57Callum Morrison and Tashin Oakley Booth up top. So the handshakes are made,
00:21:04Callum McGregor is about to go into the huddle. I dare say there was probably no more important
00:21:12team talk in that huddle than there was in Paradise last weekend. But it's all about the next one,
00:21:18Simon, it's all about almost putting the fact that you're champions on ice and getting the double
00:21:26over the line and this is what this Celtic team are looking to try and do. Yeah absolutely Dylan,
00:21:30I said it a few weeks ago the double was there for them, they just had to reach out and
00:21:34grab it,
00:21:35they've taken the title and it's the same applies this afternoon, go and win this game and it'll be a
00:21:41memorable double for Martin O'Neill, his coaching staff, the team and the fans. Well there's been a
00:21:47lot of chat over the fairy tale of Celtic, there's been chats about fairy tales in Scottish football
00:21:55this season, there's only one fairy tale ending that we want here at Hampden Park and that is
00:22:01Callum McGregor and Martin O'Neill lifting the Scottish Cup at the end of this game.
00:22:06And Benjamin Negrin just about to get the game underway, and he does.
00:22:16Brilliant atmosphere inside the stadium as ever, the Celtic end bathed in green and white.
00:22:28The Celtic look to get another trophy into the cabinet, here's Johnson under pressure.
00:22:36The Celtic goes back to his goalkeeper, San Asalo.
00:22:46Johnston. Interesting Simon how Dunfermline try and set up, we've seen how St Mirren
00:22:53capitulated in the opening minutes and they ended up finding a way back but that was probably the
00:22:59worst possible start in the semi-final for them, they will not be wanting that to happen here
00:23:04in the cup final. No, they want to bed themselves in and try and frustrate and limit Celtic's space.
00:23:12It's a tentative start from both teams here, but in the young lad up front,
00:23:17Andrew Todd, they've got somebody there who's got a knife or go, played with his dad.
00:23:20Andy Todd. Yes, many years ago, two Todds in the team.
00:23:24Yeah, the two brothers are starting for Dunfermline as Johnston comes over the halfway line.
00:23:28James Forrest and his 14th cup final for Celtic, 14 league winners' medals.
00:23:33Such an impact, ball comes into the box, he's headed away by Todd.
00:23:37John Todd, John Todd that is.
00:23:41Here's Oakley Booth, wants to try and feed in Andrew Todd, here he is, the youngster.
00:23:49Creating headlines, seems he's got bags of talent, here's Morrison.
00:23:55Celtic quickly get back on the ball.
00:23:58With their captain.
00:24:00There he is, Liam Scales back to the goalkeeper.
00:24:08I suspect this will play out almost like a home game for Celtic in terms of atmosphere
00:24:12and in possession, Simon.
00:24:14Yeah, I think so, I think the onus is on Celtic, obviously, to try and take the game to Dunfermline,
00:24:20to get the chances.
00:24:22Tier net for Yang, a new contract, can he score in the cup final?
00:24:27He looks to find Maeda.
00:24:29As he puts the pressure on.
00:24:32You can imagine, none of these Dunfermline players will have played against anyone.
00:24:36Quite like Dyson Maeda.
00:24:39No, his energy's first class, he'll be a real threat, playing on that last line with his pace.
00:24:44He's constant running, he's constant pressing, as we've seen in the last round.
00:24:49He's really hit form towards the end of this season, has Dyson.
00:24:5216 goals for Maeda, only had eight before the semi-final.
00:24:58Doubled his tally after an electric Premiership split where he scored in every game.
00:25:07Including what I would imagine is a Puskas nominee goal whenever the nominees come out.
00:25:14Clusty just puts the tackle in there, and that is a free kick to Dunfermline,
00:25:20and that is what Neil Lennon will want, you can see Neil Lennon already on the edge of his technical
00:25:25area.
00:25:26I imagine he's going to be quite animated, Simon.
00:25:29Well, no, and Lenny, I would say so, he's right at the edge of that technical area,
00:25:34it's the biggest technical area I've ever seen, this one at Hamden, and he's right at the edge of it
00:25:39now.
00:25:39Well, he's won the Scottish Cup, Neil Lennon as player and the manager eight times.
00:25:48All part of Martin O'Neill's Scottish Cup wins, of course he had his farewell for Celtic here
00:25:57at the National Stadium against Dunfermline back in 2007.
00:26:03And Tierney lost the ball long, Maeda will put the squeeze on,
00:26:07is Yang going to get in there ahead of Cholicoa Mullan? He does.
00:26:12Have the light on the ball.
00:26:15Yeah, Maeda just couldn't find him with the return pass, said it was good closing down from Yang,
00:26:20and all of a sudden it opened up for Celtic.
00:26:23Johnston hits it down, McGregor's got to win this one.
00:26:27He does well, the captain finds the Canadian.
00:26:31So Nassau's got to be clean here, his clearance is initially blocked.
00:26:37Johnston still doesn't deal with it, Dunfermline are keeping this one alive.
00:26:41Shouts for a free kick.
00:26:44Stephen McLean not interested, the Celtic look to get on the front foot.
00:26:50Tierney looks for the run of Maeda, and here he is, the electric Japanese forward.
00:27:01Negrin has Tierney as an option.
00:27:07Yang, just on the corner of the box for Tierney.
00:27:14He looks to find Engels, he does, and the Engels, and Celtic have their first corner kick,
00:27:20and that was a fine move, Simon Donne.
00:27:21It was, from one end of the pitch to the other.
00:27:25Initially Tierney finding Maeda in the channel, then he had good support,
00:27:28and then a cute little pass in there for the deep run from Engels,
00:27:33and we're in the first corner of the match.
00:27:34Well, the Belgian stands over the corner in the triangle,
00:27:38he's got Yang for close company.
00:27:46His delivery is usually a threat.
00:27:51Ball comes in, that is a ball that has to be dealt with, here's Forrest.
00:27:56Gets it under control, onto the left foot, it's Forrest.
00:28:00And it's saved by Oxborough, Celtic's first shot on target.
00:28:04Yeah, it's a decent effort for James Forrest,
00:28:06seen it time and time again through his career,
00:28:08just coming onto that left foot of his, catches it relatively well,
00:28:12but straight at the keeper that time.
00:28:14Trusty just heard the shout of his central defender,
00:28:19that's good control from Negrin, here's Callum McGregor,
00:28:21pressing forward, looks for Maeda, gets in front of Todd,
00:28:23he goes down under the challenge,
00:28:26and shouts for a penalty here in the stadium,
00:28:29but Stephen McLean waves it away.
00:28:32There will be a bar check, as ever, on any of these,
00:28:36but Tom Fairman still have the ball in an active play at the minute,
00:28:40but just shows the threat of Maeda, John Todd was all at sea there.
00:28:45It's a great little ball down the side from the skipper,
00:28:48after a good play from Negrin.
00:28:51He's been waved away.
00:28:53No penalty, did you see this one back, Simon?
00:28:57Yeah, it's just a play down the side here, he's onside obviously,
00:29:00timing's really good, gets in front.
00:29:02I'm not sure, you see it again there, just a little pass,
00:29:07he's already causing problems.
00:29:10I think that John Todd is just on the line of being a bit clumsy in that moment,
00:29:16but I can almost see why Stephen McLean and Devar have refrained from giving it,
00:29:21but it just shows the danger that the Japanese forward can bring 16 goals this season,
00:29:27he will be looking for 70, he's closing in on number 80 in all competitions as well.
00:29:34He's just been electric since almost the semi-final here at Hampden Park.
00:29:40Contribution to the club's been fantastic,
00:29:43you know, almost 80 goals from the minute he walked in the door, so successful.
00:29:48And a strong challenge there by Chawakoa Mullen on Kieran Tierney.
00:29:54Celtic have the throw, though Neil Lennon is man-marking his dugout at the minute.
00:30:01Oh, Maeda's peeled off the run here from the throw.
00:30:07Engels.
00:30:11Negrin for Forrest.
00:30:17Negrin wants to kick the ball in, looks for Yang.
00:30:22And it goes all the way through to Oxford.
00:30:27And ten goals for Yang this season.
00:30:30Some big goals in there as well.
00:30:33Think of those goals against Rangers.
00:30:37He admitted that he would give his goal of the season award back and give it to Dyson Maeda.
00:30:41Yeah, I think Dyson takes it.
00:30:44Well, Johnston's got to be careful here, the pace of Callum Morrison.
00:30:47And Celtic really have to be careful here, and it's off the line from Liam Scales.
00:30:54A miscommunication it was in the Celtic box.
00:31:00And the Irishman just got there in time, and that just goes to show the threat that this side
00:31:06can bring Neil Lennon's done firmly.
00:31:08It's just a mistake in the middle of the defence, but Scales does brilliantly.
00:31:16It looks as if it's about to creep over the line, and he just gets here.
00:31:20With Callum Morrison it was, causing all the problems in the Celtic box.
00:31:27The blushes of those in green and white are spared for now.
00:31:32Just a breakdown in communication, really.
00:31:35Allowed Morrison to nip in.
00:31:38Scales recovers brilliantly.
00:31:39I suppose that's what you were talking about, Simon.
00:31:42It's almost one of the biggest things can be complacency in this fixture.
00:31:46As Yang looks to try and keep this one in play, and it goes out for a Dunferman throw.
00:31:51But yeah, complacency can be one of the things that might just cost you if you're not too careful.
00:31:56Yeah, just a breakdown.
00:31:58As the ball gets played through here.
00:32:01Oh, it's not Jones to try to answer it back.
00:32:04Scales does brilliant there.
00:32:07You just think he's not going to get there, and then he does.
00:32:11Yeah, he just gets there and gasp.
00:32:14But yeah, you have to stay concentrated, these things can happen.
00:32:18Almost led to a goal there for Dunfermunt.
00:32:24No Oxborough.
00:32:27Looks for the run of Morrison, trustee has to head down to Johnston.
00:32:35Started every game since the trip to Easter Road earlier in the month,
00:32:40after a long timeout injured Alistair Johnson.
00:32:50third Lille.zil.
00:32:55Trienen's
00:32:56trusting. Celtic just
00:32:57patient, looking for that... that opener...
00:33:13It's the Celtic's fourth Scottish Cup final in a row.
00:33:14Trusty.
00:33:17This is Celtic's fourth Scottish Cup final in a row.
00:33:23Last year's disappointment well documented.
00:33:26Here's Forrest.
00:33:31It's a brilliant pass, here's Negrin into the box.
00:33:33Checks his run, goes for the shot.
00:33:36It's well blocked but the danger isn't over yet.
00:33:39Here he is again, Negrin, good play from Johnston.
00:33:44And it goes for a goal kick.
00:33:48It's well defended in the end there but it's a lovely link up between Forrest and Negrin on the far
00:33:52side.
00:33:53Negrin's finding over the outside of the boot and then a nice little pass into the path of Negrin from
00:33:58James Forrest.
00:34:00Unfortunately the shot was blocked.
00:34:03Well, 11 minutes gone, it's Celtic 0, Dunfermline 0.
00:34:13Dunfermline, first Cup final for them in 19 years.
00:34:16Of course, of course it was Celtic the opposition on that day.
00:34:22They haven't won the Scottish Cup since 1968 against Hearts.
00:34:42And Scales with the goal line saving moment.
00:34:49Probably the biggest opening of the game so far.
00:34:53A miscommunication in the Celtic defence.
00:35:01Celtic wearing black armbands in memory of former Celtic.
00:35:05Passed away this week, Mike Galloway.
00:35:12Forrest.
00:35:16To McGregor.
00:35:18The two towers in Celtic's great era of dominance.
00:35:23Here's Tierney, another one.
00:35:26Gets the ball into the box, looks for Engels.
00:35:29Just didn't quite gamble on at the Belgian.
00:35:32Scales with a lovely touchdown to his captain.
00:35:35Here's Yang.
00:35:38Tierney.
00:35:40Celtic looking to just raise the temperature here in the Cup final.
00:35:47Good football.
00:35:52Forrest.
00:35:57McGregor.
00:36:00Scales.
00:36:03Austen trust it.
00:36:06Austen trust it.
00:36:13McGregor.
00:36:15Scales.
00:36:17Austen trust it.
00:36:20And Tom Fairmont will have to do a lot of this.
00:36:25A lot of work off the ball.
00:36:26How tiring can that be, Simon?
00:36:28Yeah, it can be.
00:36:28Especially on this pitch.
00:36:29At hand on the whole occasion.
00:36:32Concentration levels.
00:36:33Mentally and physically.
00:36:35So it's just important to keep the ball moving.
00:36:37It was a great little chip from Tierney.
00:36:39The only surprise was Leunson Negri hadn't found himself to that back post.
00:36:42Because it would have been a simple header.
00:36:44Scales his pass.
00:36:45Cut out by Matty Todd.
00:36:48And of course, no relation to Andrew and John.
00:36:59They've been terrific in their Cup run, Simon.
00:37:02They spoke about it earlier, but...
00:37:05You look at when they beat Hibs, they got a bit of fortune,
00:37:09but the performance to knock out the holders of Aberdeen was remarkable.
00:37:13Yeah, that itself must give them confidence to go and compete.
00:37:17Obviously, Celtic are the champions.
00:37:19But, you know, they've beat three teams from this division
00:37:23on the way to the final.
00:37:25They look well organised.
00:37:27And Gwena with a long pass.
00:37:30Morrison makes the run.
00:37:31He's in front.
00:37:31He's in front towards his defender that Sinasawa collects.
00:37:41Negrin with a better space.
00:37:45He drives the ball forward.
00:37:47Get Forrest there.
00:37:49And played from James Forrest.
00:37:54Yang.
00:37:59Gets on to the left, checks back to the right, first-time cross for Tierney,
00:38:03but nobody there, and that's still kept in.
00:38:11And Morrison, as taught it is, wanting to make the run.
00:38:17The Celtic have the throw, but a few times Kieran Tierney's tried that ball into the box, Simon,
00:38:21there's just no takers there.
00:38:22Yeah, just a little bit too much on that one, I've seen Sean Maloney coming into the technical area,
00:38:27just telling Yang to stay really wide and high,
00:38:30and it was him that just fed it back to Tierney there, but he just got too much on the
00:38:34cross.
00:38:35Unlike the last one where they hung it nicely to the back post,
00:38:38I thought somebody should have been in there.
00:38:44Johnston, Forrest, he's just peeled off, can he keep it in?
00:38:50He's got the Canadian there once again.
00:38:55Negrin.
00:38:57Celtic probing for this first goal.
00:39:00Here's Kieran Tierney.
00:39:02And the shot is well blocked in the end, and goes for a Celtic throw.
00:39:08There's only just one thing in his mind there to quickly get it under control and get the shot away.
00:39:12Blocked again.
00:39:14Confirming defence.
00:39:17The ball's just...
00:39:19It looked like it maybe just creeped out there, but it does go for a goal kick it is now.
00:39:29I suppose what we've learned under Martin Anil's sides this season, Simon, is you might not get the fast start
00:39:37that you want,
00:39:38but they'll always hang in there until the end, that's the main thing?
00:39:42Yeah, as I say, it's an organised, confirming side that you wouldn't expect anything less under Neil Lennon.
00:39:48They're up against here, sometimes you do have to show a little bit of patience early in the game.
00:39:53As you say, it's hard work, you know, closing that down, Celtic with most of the possession.
00:39:59Hopefully that will tell at some point in the game.
00:40:02As Todd cups it on looking for Morrison, trusty, has to be careful.
00:40:07And it's a brave header from Tierney.
00:40:09And Celtic back in control, you can see the runs now.
00:40:13Horace looking to peel off Todd again.
00:40:14Here is Maeda, cups it over the keeper!
00:40:21And he gets the goal!
00:40:24Celtic are up and running in the Scottish Cup final.
00:40:27And who else but the magic man of the moment?
00:40:31Dyson Maeda, once again on the score sheet.
00:40:35Yeah, it just had to be him.
00:40:37He's in fantastic form, Dillon.
00:40:40And a couple of times they've tried to find him with that pace and threat.
00:40:45It's a little mistake, got a nice ball through for Johnston.
00:40:49And Keown is personified with a little lob finish.
00:40:55He's just an icon of this football club now, Dyson Maeda.
00:40:59It's another goal in the big stage.
00:41:03Nice little clap, he's onside.
00:41:05His timing of the run's been brilliant at the start of this game.
00:41:07It's a mistake in the defence there.
00:41:10Finds its way through to him.
00:41:12He's got no hesitation, just lifts it over the keeper.
00:41:14A cool, cool finish.
00:41:17Wonderful goal.
00:41:18Goal number 17 for Dyson Maeda.
00:41:22Where would we be without him?
00:41:24What a player.
00:41:26Celtic are up and running.
00:41:35It's just...
00:41:37Maybe not the fastest of starts, but 19 minutes on the clock, Celtic are ahead.
00:41:42That is just what you want, Simon.
00:41:43Yeah, and when you've got...
00:41:44Alexa Maeda leading the line there with the pace.
00:41:47They've went direct a few times, Celtic.
00:41:49It's obviously a conscious decision as we see it again here, turning that defence.
00:41:54And here he is, Maeda.
00:41:59And he gets a free kick.
00:42:02That pace and threat in behind.
00:42:05It's no surprise that when players get their heads up,
00:42:09they're trying to clip it over there to find him on the turn.
00:42:12Martin O'Neill called his form in the last few weeks, Larson-esque.
00:42:16That was a Larson-esque finish.
00:42:18It was, actually.
00:42:19It was a lovely finish.
00:42:21Celtic have the throw, but he's just a man for the moment.
00:42:25He loves scoring at Hampden Park.
00:42:27He just...
00:42:30What a player he's been for this football club.
00:42:36Big moment last week as well.
00:42:42Celtic have that goal.
00:42:45Celtic have that goal.
00:42:45They are in front in the Scottish Cup final.
00:42:51Engels.
00:42:52Lovely.
00:42:53Maeda's in space.
00:42:54It's good football from Celtic.
00:42:57Forrest now.
00:42:58For Johnston.
00:43:00He's well-blocked and defended in the end.
00:43:06Trust it.
00:43:08Puts a strong challenge on Andrew Todd.
00:43:11Neil Lennon on the touchline, asking for a foul, but not to be.
00:43:22The Celtic have had to deal with a lot of extra time in this run to the Cup.
00:43:27And a penalty shootout as well.
00:43:29They'll be hoping for a more straightforward afternoon to win the Scottish Cup and clinch the double.
00:43:35They're throwing control here after that goal.
00:43:38And they look as if they're a team hungry to go and try and get this result as quick as
00:43:43possible.
00:43:50Benjamin Negrin on the ball for Forrest.
00:43:56Just in complete control.
00:43:58The confidence just running through the Celtic team.
00:44:02Champions of Scotland.
00:44:06England.
00:44:07The most successful team.
00:44:10In the country.
00:44:12And they'll be looking to add to that.
00:44:16Here's Yang into the box.
00:44:17Here's Yang!
00:44:19He just skews it wide.
00:44:22And I think the flag was up on the far side anyway.
00:44:26They'll be thankful for that because he really should do better.
00:44:30Just Engels holding it up here.
00:44:32It's tight, very tight.
00:44:34Probably went to VAR should he have put it in.
00:44:36But he just scuffs it.
00:44:38Into the side netting.
00:44:41And they're looking to celebrate being a champion.
00:44:45And getting a new contract.
00:44:46When it looked like, as Martin O'Neill said,
00:44:48he was going to be a Birmingham City player, Yang.
00:44:52And then, what a season he's had.
00:44:56A real breakthrough.
00:44:58He's now one of those guys on the team sheet that
00:45:01you look at and you know you can trust.
00:45:04Yeah, and rewarded with a contract extension as well.
00:45:06That's football at times.
00:45:08You know, as Martin said, almost out the door.
00:45:10Gets back in, performs.
00:45:12To a level.
00:45:14Here's Morrison.
00:45:16It's going to be a tough task for Dunfermline.
00:45:19Not to be disrespectful, it is just quite a jump in quality playing in the championship.
00:45:25They're going up against the champions.
00:45:30You know Maeda's went down off the ball after running into John Todd, but he's back on his feet.
00:45:35Yeah, just got blocked there.
00:45:37But he's looking to go in.
00:45:38It's obviously something they've discussed.
00:45:40He's looking to go in behind all the time.
00:45:43Forrest will do well to catch that.
00:45:45Fraser's having to drop back, but that's a weak pass is made that puts the squeeze on Oxborough.
00:45:51And he just gets there in time.
00:45:54Oh, it's lovely from James Forrest.
00:45:58Fraser has to recover here.
00:46:02And Dunfermline are trying to pull out some tricks of their own.
00:46:07I don't know if Neil Lennon will quite appreciate that in his box.
00:46:11They did well to clear it, but the ball's just coming back.
00:46:14You know, they're struggling to get up the park at the moment.
00:46:16Any sort of possession in any of Celtic territory, it just keeps coming back towards the Dunfermline goal.
00:46:23Yang.
00:46:26For Engels.
00:46:28You can feel a second Celtic goal is on the way.
00:46:33Here at Hampden Park.
00:46:3624 minutes on the clock.
00:46:38And there's the captain, Cal McGregor.
00:46:40Scored in the 2018 final.
00:46:43Here's Yang.
00:46:44Gets it into the box.
00:46:46And he will take the corner kick.
00:46:48But, as I said, Simon, you can just feel that second goal's on its way.
00:46:51Yeah, they look as if they're threatening.
00:46:53They look as if they want to go and get the second and third goals.
00:46:55Killed this off.
00:46:57But this pass out there to Yang.
00:46:59From Tierney there.
00:47:01In the second corner, I think, of the game.
00:47:08Oh, Arnai Engels.
00:47:11Over the corner kick once again.
00:47:13And, like last time, has Yang as the short option.
00:47:21Options in the box.
00:47:22The likes of Scales and Trusty.
00:47:23Ball comes in.
00:47:24That's well headed away by Abdoulaye.
00:47:29Tierney.
00:47:29Tierney for James Forrest.
00:47:34Ball comes in.
00:47:35Here's Maeda.
00:47:36His touch was good, but it just kind of got away from him.
00:47:39And Gwena.
00:47:41Clears his lines, and Celtic will be quick to get this back in play.
00:47:54And Celtic 1-0 up.
00:47:56They're just in complete control.
00:47:58As the Celtic fans sing the name of their legendary manager.
00:48:16He's got...
00:48:20Negrin.
00:48:28Scales looks for the run of Yang.
00:48:30Can the Korean keep this in?
00:48:32He does.
00:48:33Goes with the left-footed cross.
00:48:35Terrible goal.
00:48:36Terrible goal.
00:48:37And it goes out for a goal kick.
00:48:39Not his best.
00:48:41No, it's not.
00:48:42I think he could use his luck, but I'm sure a little bit of composure there.
00:48:45Maybe bring it down and get 1v1.
00:48:47It's a nice little clip in from Scales again.
00:48:49Again, similar balls.
00:48:51Trying to turn the Dunfermline back line.
00:48:55With the willing running of Yang and Maeda.
00:48:58But he should do better with that one.
00:49:04Oh, Oxborough.
00:49:06Not ready to put this one back in play,
00:49:08but a lot for Neil Lennon to think about.
00:49:11He said he didn't really like being the underdog,
00:49:13but underdogs can bite.
00:49:14That was his words.
00:49:18I'm sure he'll always believe that Dunfermline can win.
00:49:22That will be his mentality.
00:49:27And Engels clips it on, but here's Cholicoa Mullan.
00:49:38It's good pressure from Celtic to win the throw.
00:49:42Yeah, we'll just find it difficult to get any sort of foothold.
00:49:44Any sort of possession.
00:49:46Closed down.
00:49:47Closing the error there.
00:49:53Closed down.
00:49:54Forrest.
00:49:57For Negrin.
00:50:00Closed down.
00:50:00Consti's 20th goal of the season here in the semi-final.
00:50:11his only goal since that game was that absolute rasper at third park.
00:50:20Engels, watch her room, switches it to the near side for Yang.
00:50:25Does well to keep it in.
00:50:28And that has went out.
00:50:30I don't think the flag was up on the far side, actually.
00:50:32Yeah.
00:50:34Difficult one for him to deal with there,
00:50:36but he shouldn't be creeping off.
00:50:38Said there, looking along the line.
00:50:41And he's moved over onto the left-hand side of the pitch, Simon.
00:50:45He absolutely performs better on the right-hand side,
00:50:48but James Forrest is there today.
00:50:50He just prefers to be able to go on the outside, doesn't he?
00:50:53Yeah, but listen,
00:50:55you can't put down a position,
00:50:59and if he's asked to do a job there on the left-hand side,
00:51:01he's more than capable.
00:51:04Working in on his stronger foot,
00:51:06has to show a little bit more composure,
00:51:08keeping offside that one with the last cross.
00:51:12Tierney clears it up the pitch,
00:51:15and Gwena takes a touch,
00:51:18but you just don't have time with Maeda around.
00:51:23McGregor.
00:51:29Forrest.
00:51:31Gets the ball in, Yang's at the back.
00:51:33He just floats over the Koreans' head.
00:51:38And it's just not sticking up front.
00:51:41For Dunfermline, Celtic have the ball once again.
00:51:52Yang.
00:51:55Oh, Liam scales.
00:51:57You fear for Dunfermline if a second goal went in,
00:52:01it almost could be anything this afternoon, but...
00:52:07You've seen what happened earlier,
00:52:08that the Celtic take their eye off it as well, Simon,
00:52:11then they could be straight back in the game.
00:52:13Yeah, that's football at 1-0,
00:52:15but I think the Celtic team, at the moment,
00:52:19are trying to get that important set and goal.
00:52:21Got lots of space, Celtic, at the minute.
00:52:24Here's Yang.
00:52:25Tierney with him.
00:52:26Ball comes in, it's cleared away.
00:52:28But it is quite remarkable the amount of time the Celtic players have, Simon.
00:52:32Yeah, they're working it well down this left-hand side.
00:52:34The final ball just has to be a little bit better.
00:52:37I think Tierney was trying to find Negrin that time.
00:52:40Getting in at will on this left-hand side.
00:52:42Yeah, absolutely.
00:52:47There's Yang, Tierney,
00:52:49operating in almost the left striker position at the minute.
00:52:54Negrin for MacGregor.
00:52:57And he wins inside the free kick.
00:53:06And Negrin collects the ball.
00:53:10Tierney went to stab it through.
00:53:15There's Mathieu Todd,
00:53:16and now this is where Dunfermont will look to try and spring the trap,
00:53:20but it's well dealt with by Sinasalo.
00:53:25Great composure by the goalkeeper.
00:53:27It is, it has got your hearts in your mouth when he's coming out there at times,
00:53:31but he does well that time.
00:53:34Feeds the play well.
00:53:44Brilliant from Scales.
00:53:46Engels.
00:53:48And they get Celtic on the move.
00:53:49The Belgian's in the box again.
00:53:51It flashes across.
00:53:53And it's cleared away.
00:53:59The amount of space that they have down this left-hand side, Simon.
00:54:02We've already spoken about it,
00:54:04but it's something for Neal Wenning to think about.
00:54:07It's a really good ball from Scales into Engels.
00:54:09It breaks the Dunfermline line and all of a sudden there's a danger.
00:54:13Again, just that final ball.
00:54:17Trying to find somebody in the middle.
00:54:21Well, lots of impact players on the bench for Dunfermline, the likes of Chris Kane and Zach Rodden.
00:54:31The Celtic just in total control at the minute, just looking for that second goal.
00:54:37As that ball should come all the way through to Sinasalo.
00:54:42Missed out in last year's final.
00:54:45After Kasper Schmeichel returned to the team.
00:54:49So, a first Scottish Cup final for the Celtic goalkeeper.
00:54:55Starting.
00:55:05Maeda drops deep.
00:55:07And now the ball's cut over.
00:55:09Negrin's in there.
00:55:10Oxborough does well with the head to read the run.
00:55:16And...
00:55:17Chalakoa Mullin.
00:55:18Lucky there.
00:55:19Here's Gilmour.
00:55:26Keeper did really well there actually.
00:55:28Maeda came short that time.
00:55:30And it was Negrin and Yang going long for the first time.
00:55:33Pass over the top from McGregor, but the keeper read it well.
00:55:36Had to.
00:55:40Fraser, clips the ball.
00:55:42It does seem like Celtic are trying to target young John Todd.
00:55:48It's a big call from Neil Lennon to start him,
00:55:50he's only 19 years old.
00:55:52Yeah, not so much the player directly,
00:55:55but just that back line with the pace Celtic have got.
00:55:58You know, at times playing it in front of them,
00:55:59Fernand, be comfortable for them.
00:56:01But it hasn't been because I've tried to turn them.
00:56:04At any opportunity, that forward pass,
00:56:07the club in behind the back line.
00:56:10Oh, Yang touches it on.
00:56:11And it's well dealt with by Todd there,
00:56:14but that will be a real education for the young man
00:56:17going up against an international footballer of the quality of Dyson Maeda.
00:56:22Yeah, I don't think he'll have played against that level of quality
00:56:25in his young career so far.
00:56:28As you say, it's a good learning curve for him.
00:56:33Negrin just pads it down to Tierney as he goes back to his goalkeeper.
00:56:45Celtic 82% possession, Simon.
00:56:49That's what I'm getting on the stats.
00:56:51That's really reflective.
00:56:53Yeah, they're dominant.
00:56:54They're dominant without creating too much.
00:56:58Getting into good areas.
00:56:59And here's Maeda, and again, Dyson Maeda!
00:57:02And this time,
00:57:05Fernand just do enough in Gwena this time.
00:57:09But again, they're just not picking up his runs.
00:57:12I thought the lob was on there again.
00:57:14I thought he was just going to lift that over the keeper again.
00:57:18Here's Forrest.
00:57:20Or, Yang.
00:57:26Just winning everything in there at the minute.
00:57:29Can Celtic get the second goal that they so desperately want?
00:57:35Here's Engels.
00:57:38And there is the second goal.
00:57:41A beauty of a strike from the Belgian.
00:57:47And Celtic double their lead.
00:57:50And it could be the double after all.
00:57:53It's a hell of a strike.
00:57:55It really is.
00:57:55We've seen him hit one recently, I think, against Rangers from a similar distance.
00:58:00He's got it in the locker.
00:58:03But we've been saying they've been getting into dangerous positions
00:58:05and not finishing with that final pass.
00:58:07Engels just takes responsibility this time.
00:58:10And thunders one home.
00:58:12The keeper doesn't see it.
00:58:13I don't know if he's blinded.
00:58:13He certainly doesn't move.
00:58:16Fantastic strike.
00:58:18Well, there's nothing Oxborough can do about it.
00:58:22And the Engels arrows at home.
00:58:25Yeah, he drills it right between the two of the players.
00:58:27The keeper's blinded.
00:58:29There's too much power on it.
00:58:30He doesn't even move.
00:58:33And it's goal number 17 as well.
00:58:36In all colours, in all competitions for Arna Engels.
00:58:40Since arriving at the club.
00:58:42None more important than scoring in the cup final.
00:58:51And sometimes that option's the best one, just to take the shot on round about the edge of the box.
00:58:56Have a go.
00:58:59He's been breaking down round about the final third.
00:59:02He's been such a big player for Celtic as well since returning from injury.
00:59:07Yeah, he brings an energy in that century park.
00:59:11That area of the park.
00:59:13And he's got a strike on him.
00:59:15We've seen it before.
00:59:16And that time drills it between the two players.
00:59:20Here he is.
00:59:20We're in again.
00:59:21And Yang this time, can he get in front of his defender?
00:59:24He's got options.
00:59:25Tierney's with him.
00:59:26It's Kieran Tierney.
00:59:27Can he get it from out under his feet?
00:59:30He heads on.
00:59:32And Oxborough collects.
00:59:35We do feel like Celtic could even get a thump here before half-time.
00:59:39Yeah, it's good play down the left-hand side yet again.
00:59:43With Tierney overlapping Yang.
00:59:45And as you say, I think the ball just gets caught up in his feet.
00:59:47Because I think he's sizing up the shot.
00:59:49The fact that it sticks under his feet forces him to try and cross it in the end.
00:59:57Well, it's been absolutely dominance from Celtic.
01:00:01Like they were, 2-0 up.
01:00:03Hamden in the semi-final against St Mirren.
01:00:06But it's been a different type of performance from that first half.
01:00:09They've really looked the part.
01:00:11They've looked like the champions of Scotland.
01:00:15Yeah, they've really got their tails up.
01:00:16It's been a difficult first half for Dunfermline.
01:00:20Trying to hang in the game.
01:00:22Celtic looking to kill it off.
01:00:28It's Alan Angle's seventh of the season.
01:00:32His goal, as I said, 17 since arriving almost two years ago.
01:00:41Some players shouted at him, big pressure.
01:00:44Well, he knows all about it.
01:00:48Yeah, he's definitely brought an energy back into the middle of the park since he's injured it.
01:00:57And the Grint for Scales.
01:01:04Brilliant from Engles, he's taken down by Gilmore, I think it was in there.
01:01:09And Stephen McLean is going to have a word.
01:01:17Celtic wanted to take the free kick early there, I don't understand.
01:01:20Unless he's going to book them.
01:01:21Yeah, he is.
01:01:23First yellow card of the Scottish Cup final.
01:01:26It was the way of Charlie Gilmore.
01:01:32A double winner in his own right at St Johnstone a few years ago.
01:01:49Forrest.
01:01:51Never scored in a Scottish Cup final.
01:01:53Ball comes in.
01:01:54It's headed away by John Todd.
01:01:57Of course he's got goals in the League Cup finals over the years.
01:02:01James Forrest.
01:02:06And Dunfermline get the free kick.
01:02:11Andrew Todd always won the free kick from Austin Trusty.
01:02:26A lot to think about for Neil Owen and Simon.
01:02:30Doesn't want this to become a pretty scarring experience for his team.
01:02:33He'll want them to hang in there and compete as well as they can.
01:02:36Yeah, definitely.
01:02:37He's down there with us.
01:02:38One of his members of staff.
01:02:40Going over a few things at the moment.
01:02:42Maybe looking to make a few changes once he gets his team in.
01:02:47Trusty just lets that one run and it goes for a goal kick.
01:02:52Gal Morrison it was, putting the squeeze on the big American.
01:03:16No trusty now.
01:03:18Celtic patient once again, no press coming from the forward line of Dunfermline on the two Celtic defenders.
01:03:27I think the big thing has been Celtic in the midfield, they've really controlled the game, have lots of possession
01:03:33and time.
01:03:36Johnston.
01:03:40A big summer awaits for the likes of Alistair Johnston and Austen Trusty with a home World Cup.
01:03:48And this man will be going as well, can you imagine, Dyson Maeda.
01:03:59Brilliant from Yang, and he's in again here, Yang.
01:04:04He's got Tierney making the run, here's Tierney, into the box.
01:04:09He just didn't get the right connection on the cross.
01:04:13And the chance goes begging for Celtic.
01:04:16Good play between the two of them.
01:04:18He's starting off the move, interchanging, and again just that final ball.
01:04:23I think he just mishits it, almost kicks it off his other foot.
01:04:28Good movement between the two of them to get in yet again down this left-hand side.
01:04:33Well, half-time soon approaching here at Hampden.
01:04:37Celtic.
01:04:38Up by two goals, to nil.
01:04:43Goals from Dyson Maeda and Amla Engels.
01:04:59Yan, come short.
01:05:01Yan, come short.
01:05:13Tierney looking to add his tenth trophy.
01:05:16That's Celtic.
01:05:18An FA Cup winner in England as well.
01:05:30Strust it.
01:05:33For Johnston.
01:05:36For Johnston.
01:05:36Engels once again.
01:05:37He's been terrific so far.
01:05:46Johnston makes a run, but handles up for Forrest.
01:06:19Scales for Engels, so well once again, goes for a Celtic throw.
01:06:27But how pleased will Martin O'Neill and Sean Maloney be after such a dominant half, Simon?
01:06:33Yeah, they'll be satisfied with the 2-0 lead, if it's going to be that.
01:06:37It's been very comfortable, apart from the one off the line from Scales,
01:06:41little mistake, very comfortable, could have been more, just that final ball round about the box.
01:06:47Todd just gets it out from under his feet, and here's Matty Todd, finds Andrew Todd.
01:06:58And Oakley Booth loses out, Tierney goes back to Scales.
01:07:04And it's just like a home game for Celtic.
01:07:10I'm looking at Lenny down, the low is there, they get into a good area,
01:07:14they're firmly there, and the first thought was to go back, the way from where it came.
01:07:18Yeah, they'll not be happy.
01:07:23But they've not had many opportunities to get any sort of progress into the Celtic half,
01:07:29they're a difficult 45.
01:07:31It just looks like they're chasing the shadows of Celtic at the minute, Simon.
01:07:36Yeah, Celtic have moved the ball well, brightly at times.
01:07:40It's absolutely brilliant there, outside of the foot, and they look for Forrest in there.
01:07:46And it just evades the most decorated man in this club's history.
01:07:52From a very first Scottish Cup final goal.
01:07:56It's great wing play, just takes his man on, leaves him for dead, and it's outside of the boot.
01:08:01Inviting the cross into the six-yard box here, James Forrest just can't get on the end of it.
01:08:07Well, the cross from Yang was almost James Forrest-esque.
01:08:10Yeah, just a lot outside of the boot, teasing as the half-time whistle goes.
01:08:16And it is half-time here in the Scottish Cup final.
01:08:22Celtic got into the lead through a lovely lob from Dyson Maeda.
01:08:28And that got Celtic up and running in the Cup final they've been ever so dominant in.
01:08:33And then Ernie Engels arrowed the ball in from distance
01:08:38to put Celtic in a really comfortable position to try and win this Cup back
01:08:43and try and win the double for Celtic.
01:08:47It's been a brilliant first half, Simon, just give us your thoughts.
01:08:50Yeah, just dominant.
01:08:53Totally in control, Celtic.
01:08:55And the only thing at the moment that maybe the management team will just remind them
01:08:58is don't get complacent.
01:09:00You've still got 45 to go, go and press on, can we get a third, can we get a fourth,
01:09:04and round the season off in a bit of style.
01:09:07But it's been all Celtic, total control, the one little lapse in concentration,
01:09:11Scales did brilliantly to get back right on the line.
01:09:14A couple of nice work goals, and they're always a threat going forward.
01:09:17They look as if they're full of energy on the back of the success last week.
01:09:22But yeah, totally in control.
01:09:23You know, the confidence is running through this Celtic team, you can tell,
01:09:27as they inch over closer to clinching the Scottish Cup.
01:09:31It's half-time here at Hampden, it's Celtic 2, Dunferm 1-0.
01:09:49In from Dempsey.
01:09:52It's gone out.
01:09:54Down further on half the lead, it's Andrea Scala, a looping header,
01:09:59which didn't look to be too menacing, but it found its way in.
01:10:03In six minutes from half-time, Dunferm 1, half the lead.
01:10:14Well, I did put that in, Rob, it seemed to be nothing to do with it,
01:10:19and he was under pressure from Dunferm 1 player, I think it was Derrick Young on the line there,
01:10:24he is under pressure from Derrick Young, but the goal stands.
01:10:28Well, you would have thought David Marshall had that covered,
01:10:32Derrick Young jumping alongside him, but the goalkeeper wasn't decisive,
01:10:36the ball looped over him and in.
01:10:40Gary Dempsey plays it in, there were a lot of white shirts jumping for the ball,
01:10:46Celtic get it away, Henrik Larson's on his own,
01:10:48and he's through, as Le Bon stumbles, Larson squares the game.
01:10:57His final competitive match in a Celtic shirt, and that is his 241st career goal.
01:11:07It's 1-1 at Hampden.
01:11:11Well, this is quite incredible, this comes from a corner from Dunfermline,
01:11:14it's a straight ball at the park, great weighted pass from Chris Sutton,
01:11:17just great power and his strength, and do you expect anything else to him,
01:11:21and what a fantastic finish his right foot.
01:11:26Tremendous finish this, look at Larson opening up his body,
01:11:28and opening up that far corner, curled inside the post,
01:11:34and he was always going to be the man most likely to get this game squared off at 1-1.
01:11:41Ross Wallace enjoyed it alongside Martin O'Neill, Celtic responding in the second.
01:11:47Still Ian Petro, illusive.
01:11:52Puts his pass away to Lennon, Sutton.
01:11:58Now Thompson.
01:12:01Larson the receiver, turning away from Le Bon.
01:12:05He's done it again, absolutely incredible.
01:12:14Larson's leaving party may now be complete.
01:12:18Two for him, it's 2-1 Celtic.
01:12:23Great ball here, great upper body strength, goals he's put up, he's marking there,
01:12:27that was his left foot this time, he shows you the class of the man.
01:12:37Is that an inexperienced defender committing himself too early didn't it?
01:12:40Yeah, I think it was too close to him, I think at times he had to be touched tight on
01:12:43the mark,
01:12:43on the follow there and he just rolled him too easy.
01:12:45He's an inexperienced defender and an inexperienced defender have learned from that.
01:12:50I think Martin really enjoyed that, you know.
01:12:52He's a bit restrained.
01:12:55Thompson on the dead ball, Balde climbing for the header,
01:12:59burn clears, Lennon has it again.
01:13:04Brewster had it for the moment, then lost it.
01:13:07They're looking pretty bedriveled at the moment, then firmly.
01:13:11The Gatscross came off the head of Lee Bullen, didn't know much about it,
01:13:16Wallace squares it, Stylian Petra for 3-1.
01:13:20That's the goal, which ensures the Scottish Cup is going to be in Celtic hands.
01:13:31Six and a half minutes from full time, Petrov scores his tenth goal of the season,
01:13:38all the composure you'd want in this sort of situation.
01:13:41Yeah, good delivery from the Gat to the back, a wee bit unfortunately Bullen hits off the back of his
01:13:45head,
01:13:46thinks he's going to drop over, but you've got to applaud the skill here from,
01:13:50ah, great touch, that's a great goal from Petrov, great composure in the box,
01:13:54because again every young boy watching that's just a fantastic finish, great composure,
01:13:57on the bottom corner.
01:13:59I just think from the Dunfermline point of view there, the challenges weren't happening for them,
01:14:04it was all too easy for Petrov, it was good skill, but maybe earlier in the game,
01:14:09you wouldn't have expected Dunfermline to have been brushed aside quite so easily.
01:14:12I think they'd be warmed down eventually by Celtic, by Celtic's pressure.
01:14:16We didn't really need to get much contact on that, anything would have put the ball in the net.
01:14:23Full time at Hampden, and Henrik Larsson marks his Celtic competitive farewell with a virtuoso performance.
01:14:34We shouldn't really be surprised, he's been doing it for seven years.
01:14:39It's a league and cut double for Celtic, the 10th Scottish Cup is theirs.
01:14:46Here comes O'Reilly, he's into the box, he's on his right foot, cuts it back,
01:14:56Kiogo!
01:14:57He only needs a chance, O'Reilly cuts it back and there's Kiogo again,
01:15:03it's Hampden, it's Hampden, he must score, he does score, and with 37 minutes on the clock,
01:15:09Celtic leads by a goal to nil.
01:15:11Well, you're looking for that little bit of quality, we finally get it,
01:15:16this time O'Reilly bursting into the box, as he's done on a couple of occasions,
01:15:19and the cut-back was perfect for Kiogo's run as he finds so much space at times inside the box,
01:15:26and if somebody you're looking for to try and unlock their very tight defence,
01:15:31you want their top goal scorer in there, Kiogo, 1-0 the hits.
01:15:37Well, 34 goals now for the season, O'Reilly did well, just played it into the box,
01:15:43he's on his right foot, and it was Kiogo who that movement just took him away from the Inverness,
01:15:47Cali Thistle defender, first-time ball, there was nothing that Mark Richards could do,
01:15:53and the challenge, we've spoken about it already, what did Inverness do now?
01:15:57A goal behind, and that's a goal that Celtic needed her first shot in target.
01:16:07Well, he's absolutely clattered, surely that's got a yellow card,
01:16:11in fact the referee with the advantage, O knocked it across, he's fouled now,
01:16:16Jota into the box, looking for Callum McGregor, it's a chance for the captain,
01:16:19cuts it across, Mabada, Mabada, Mabada, boom!
01:16:23Celtic lead by two goals to nil, twice the advantage was played,
01:16:27and Celtic, the captain, the provider, Mabada the substitute, the goal scorer,
01:16:33and Celtic leads by two goals to nil.
01:16:35Yeah, there was quality, we've struggled to get quality in this game,
01:16:39and we finally get quality in the game, and all credit to the referee,
01:16:44who allowed play to continue twice, I thought one of them would have been booked,
01:16:49I'm not sure who it was, it clattered into the back of the floor,
01:16:52but certainly one of them should have been booked in the process for that,
01:16:54and that was absolute standing, real quality from Celtic,
01:16:57we've not seen enough of it, and hopefully now we'll go and kick on
01:17:01in a position we've seen so many times, that was the first one,
01:17:06re-kick taken quickly.
01:17:08I don't know if there's any look, I don't think there's any look on that,
01:17:12he's got offside, onside I think,
01:17:15the referee's saying nothing, and what a finish from Mabada.
01:17:24Carson in the middle of the park, man, it's just a thread through,
01:17:26Inverness down the right-hand side with Duffy.
01:17:30Plays it across, it's a chance for Inverness, and Inverness have scored!
01:17:33The ball into the box, Daniel Mackey, the substitute,
01:17:38couches low and heads it in.
01:17:40And suddenly, with just 84 minutes on the clock,
01:17:43Inverness and Cali Thistle are back in the game.
01:17:45Yeah, we've got a third goal, but it's not where I wanted it,
01:17:48almost Inverness getting that with the first shot on target.
01:18:00There will be six added minutes, Callum McGregor,
01:18:05I think the Celtic fans wondering where the six minutes have come from.
01:18:09I thought there would be five.
01:18:14Mabada, back to Johnson, to O,
01:18:18he knocks it through, looking for Mabada, Mabada and a sprint,
01:18:22curls it to the far post, a jotter,
01:18:25Jotter, the cup is coming back to paradise!
01:18:30The ball to the far post, he took a touch, he knocked it in,
01:18:33he's disappeared, where's he going?
01:18:35He's scored the goal, and Celtic leads by three goals to one.
01:18:40Well, that's the pressure off us now, Paul,
01:18:42we should have been a lot earlier than what we have with Jotter getting that goal
01:18:47just into the start of injury time, six minutes of that,
01:18:53and there is no way back for Inverness now.
01:18:55Real quality from the team, sharpness on the attack,
01:18:59a little dink from Abada to the back post,
01:19:02I thought Jotter had lost that opportunity with his first control,
01:19:06but he was able to stretch with every sinew to get a toe poke,
01:19:10I think it was, onto that ball as we see the cross from Abada back post,
01:19:15the defender couldn't get there, Jotter timing it perfectly.
01:19:19And we are world record treble holders.
01:19:35James Forrest fires it low, looking for Abada, it's cleared by Harpoch.
01:19:40And there indeed is the final whistle, Celtic, the Scottish cup holders,
01:19:47the treble winners, the history makers, Hamden and Ops,
01:19:51a green and white delight, Ernst Prostokoglou has won another trophy,
01:19:55he's won the treble, and Celtic can celebrate making football history.
01:20:09Celtic, the most successful team in this tournament, 41 wins now,
01:20:14and Callum McGregor stands on the podium, he stands on the verge of history.
01:20:21Celtic, the Scottish cup holders, Celtic, the world record holders,
01:20:26eight trebles, eight trebles, Celtic, we know our history, we make history.
01:20:331967, 1969, 2001, 2017, 18, 19, 20 and 2023, Celtic are the treble holders,
01:20:46the world record holders, the finest team in Scotland,
01:20:49and Hamden, in the sun, celebrates.
01:20:56Covid-19,隊, Celtic, Grandfather, Celtic, Celtic, Celtic, Celtic, Celtic, Celtic, Celtic.
