00:00:04Half-time here at Celtic Park in the Glasgow Derby. Celtic won, Rangers won plenty to talk
00:00:10about from that first 45 minutes. Simon, your overall thoughts as we breathe again?
00:00:15A bit frantic. I think I looked to you after 11 minutes and couldn't believe it was only 11 minutes
00:00:21on the clock. Yes, it's been an eventful first half. I thought they started well. A bit of energy,
00:00:26shot for the angles and then obviously they find themselves a goal behind. Plants to get back into
00:00:31the game but yes, very nervy. It is very nervy. Let's take a look at the chances and the best
00:00:36of the
00:00:37action and the goals from both sides. Dyson Maeda, you know, winning the ball, doing what he does best
00:00:42in the early sort of frantic few moments but this was a decent effort from outside the box from Arna
00:00:47Engels. He's capable of this, he's power and it's Maeda that's trying to follow in but this just
00:00:54emphasised how well we started the first 5-10 minutes. Plenty of energy taking the game to
00:00:58Rangers and Engels decides to take a bit of responsibility to the shot. Butlin can't deal
00:01:03with it and unfortunately Maeda just can't control the rebound there but it was a good start and then
00:01:07obviously the setback of the Rangers goal. Yeah, I mean listen, you play with the cards you're
00:01:11dealt and Rangers have got a lot of big physically powerful players and they're playing to their strength.
00:01:17Look, McCown a couple of times has struggled down the Rangers left, if you want to call it that,
00:01:22with the strength of the likes of, you know, Fernandez, Chukwane, whatever. Cermiti's another
00:01:26player up front for Rangers. We know Celtic defence has struggled in the past, in the recent past,
00:01:32with his physicality and he got an early chance for Rangers. He did, yeah, on the counter-attack,
00:01:37once Rangers found their feet in the game. This is really close, this effort. As you say, there's a
00:01:42little bit of concern through the middle there with the physicality of Cermiti but he's more than capable
00:01:46there as well and he's, thankfully for Celtic, just pulled that one slightly wide. Look, McCown was
00:01:51brought into the starting 11, Simon, the manager spoke before about the damage he can do from
00:01:56sort of cutting in from that right-hand side and we'll see to good effect at Celtic's equaliser. He
00:02:01was kind of caught in the ball and again, I think he was claiming for a foul but it might
00:02:06just have
00:02:06been the physicality of the opposition that led to their opening goal. Yeah, I thought, in fairness to
00:02:11Luke, I thought he had a difficult first 20-25 minutes there but he did receive the ball in areas
00:02:15like this where he was looking for support. I think here he's maybe just trying to buy the free kick,
00:02:20doesn't get the free kick. Cermiti's got a lot to do here, cuts inside trusty and it's a little trope
00:02:26up that just falls nicely for Mikey Moore. He won't get an easier finish but the first 20-25,
00:02:31I felt a little bit for Luke. He was receiving the ball in tight areas there with not much support
00:02:35and as you say, the physicality of Rangers was winning over and this one just breaks the Mikey Moore
00:02:40and Rangers take the lead. Yeah, and at that point there's still only nine minutes gone. It really
00:02:46was a pretty energetic first few minutes for both sides. Luke McCown, he could sense that that really
00:02:53did affect him. It kind of looked as if his head had gone down a bit but however, he did
00:02:59play his part
00:03:00in the equaliser. Before that though, Dyson Maeda had such a good chance through on goal, didn't he?
00:03:06Yeah, he did. Yeah, and Maeda on form slots that away. This is the goal in fact and I was
00:03:13delighted
00:03:13for McCown because after that difficult start, he picks out Engels with a fantastic ball here,
00:03:19just brings it back into his left foot. We said about his use of the ball last week at Easter
00:03:24Road,
00:03:24that's a great pass and Engels picks out Yang and it's a really well-worked goal from Celtic. A much
00:03:30needed time, 22 minutes on the clock and we had to find our way back into the game and that's
00:03:35a
00:03:35well-worked one. Yeah, there was a bar stoppage, he looked at potentially an offside there with
00:03:40Negrin standing in close proximity to Butlin. That's the thing with that bar reel, he's never
00:03:44ever saving that, you know. I know Butlin's complaining there's a couple of players in there
00:03:48but the way Yang's finished it, he's never stopping that regardless of who's round about him. Yeah, sorry,
00:03:53we mentioned that Maeda chance, I think we can show you that now. You know, sometimes Maeda does all
00:03:58the great work and he's not as clinical in front of goal. Sometimes the simpler the chance,
00:04:03sometimes catches Maeda out. Yeah, listen, Yang does brilliantly there at first, feds it through,
00:04:08he uses a bit of strength against the defender, he opens up his body, can see what he's trying to
00:04:12do
00:04:12but he just gets it all wrong, it's a couple of yards wide in the end. It's a good chance
00:04:16as well,
00:04:17as I say, on his day, this time last season, they would have slotted that into the bag of the
00:04:21net.
00:04:22But nevertheless, it was an important time to get back into the game and it's balanced nicely
00:04:28for another nervy 45 minutes. Yeah, it will be. The referee, you know,
00:04:32a few decisions to make. He booked Alistair Johnson unbelievably towards the end there
00:04:36when he clearly won the ball with that tackle. Thankfully, there hasn't been too much in the way
00:04:40of controversial bar incidents. Rangers fans might feel the goal that Celtic got could have been dealt
00:04:48with better but it certainly looked like, you know, Butlin was never going to get there.
00:04:51Finally balanced for the second half. You know, Kaleci Iheanacho, we know, is on the bench for Celtic,
00:04:55can come on and affect that game. I just wonder if it's written that he does it again today.
00:04:59Well, we've just seen in the VT area at halftime, he's composure in and out of the box.
00:05:04A fantastic finish against the Murner in the Cup. I think if you get to 1-1 with 20-25
00:05:10minutes left,
00:05:11there's nobody better to bring on and you can maybe put Maeda left or wide rather, use his
00:05:16pace on the wide area. I said at the start of the show, if he gets chances inside that box,
00:05:22he's shown how deadly he is. I'm also thinking about James Forrest and the experience that he's got,
00:05:26not just as a whole, but in this fixture. He could be crucial to Celtic towards the end of the
00:05:29game.
00:05:30Yeah, I think so. I think so. We speak about the senior players there. Tierney, McGregor,
00:05:35Luke Forrest comes into that bracket as well. And the manager is very decisive in games. You know,
00:05:40if he sees something, he makes changes quite quickly. So I wouldn't be surprised if we get
00:05:44some changes in the second half. And as you say, Murner actually could be written in the stars that he
00:05:48pops up with the winning goal.
00:05:50Don't go anywhere. Plenty of dramatic Scottish Premiership Glasgow Derby action to come in the
00:05:55second half. It is finally poised here at Paradise. Celtic 1, Rangers 1.
00:06:07Most of us were born within 10 miles of Celtic Park. We were very much a team. The Lisbon Lions.
00:06:15Most of us were Celtic fans from birth. We weren't superstars. We were
00:06:20regular Glaswegians. Glasgow's a very passionate city. A working-class city. A lot of that is
00:06:26football. I owe you a family and past generations as well. They're the ones who tell you these stories.
00:06:31Any age group you ask, they'll know there has been lines. Yeah, we were a good side. We started doing
00:06:38well in Europe. We travelled to some very unusual parts of the world, you know? Boswoodina and Yugoslavia
00:06:46and Dukla Prague. The Celtic fans, yeah, they supported us all the way. The Celtic kit was iconic. The hoops.
00:06:57In the semi-final we won. The favours were all over the fact that it was the first British team
00:07:04to
00:07:04win against the European Cup final. To be good out to play in Lisbon for wearing the club's shirt was
00:07:11just amazing.
00:07:13The Lisbon Lions are a massive part of the Celtic. I don't think people realise the achievement.
00:07:18We had the great Inter Milan standing in our way. It was going to be a day to remember.
00:07:44The sun's still shining at Paradise, you just saw a lovely video there that was to launch the
00:07:51new Celtic kit for next season, Jim Craig and Ciarán Tierney involved in.
00:07:55Was it understatement of the year when Jim Craig says in that video,
00:07:58yeah, we were a good side? I mean, that really is.
00:08:01The greatest, that's what you would say, that's how you would describe it.
00:08:04And it'll be the one that will always be the greatest Celtic team ever,
00:08:07because they've done everything first. And it's great to see Jim looking so well also.
00:08:12Yeah, 60 years, of course, the 60th anniversary season coming up.
00:08:19I can also tell you that the £25,000 Paradise windfall draw has yet to be claimed.
00:08:27And just to let you know, Peter, I haven't checked my ticket yet, so if at some point
00:08:31Peter takes over commentary in the second half, you know there'll be a way to claim that.
00:08:37But what you really want is one lucky fan to get three points and £25,000,
00:08:42but an incredible first prize in the Paradise windfall draw, the biggest prize draw in world football.
00:08:48Well, Celtic, the options off the bench that we heard the guys talking there, you know,
00:08:54about Ian Acho, who has come off the bench to great effect in recent weeks,
00:08:58with the outfield options, Ian Acho, Oxlade, Chamberlain, Tineke, Sarache, Hitate, Murray, Forrest and Wilson.
00:09:04And there's some players in there, you know, if Martin needs to put them on with an hour going,
00:09:10with 70 minutes going, just to make an impact and change the game.
00:09:14There's guys on there that he knows can do that.
00:09:15Yeah, but I think every one of the players that's on that bench have proven this season,
00:09:20whatever that has been called upon, they can do a job for the team.
00:09:22There is no doubt that you go for Sarache at left back when Kieran's pulled out,
00:09:25maybe late in games or whatever, he's known and given a lift to the supporters and the team.
00:09:30So going from left back to Ani Acho at the top end of the pitch,
00:09:34who's scored an amazing amount of goals at important times.
00:09:37We've had James Forrest who's come on at times and been really prominent in what he's done,
00:09:42because he's a winger that goes and wants to take on the full back, faces the full back up,
00:09:46and wants to take on to put crosses in the box.
00:09:48And I think this is a team, when you're playing against Rangers, because they're so big,
00:09:51you don't want to be coming in like Luke McCaroon with his left foot,
00:09:54putting it in too early, because they've got such big centre backs.
00:09:59But when you go on the outside and put the ball across low and hard,
00:10:01I think that's a bigger problem to deal with.
00:10:04And I could see somebody like James causing them a problem with that.
00:10:08We always say, you know, at the start of every game,
00:10:10then at the start of the second half, that the Knicks goal is so important.
00:10:12And I think in a game which is so tight and both sides not had many chances,
00:10:16but they have had chances at either end.
00:10:18It's important for Celtic to get their noses in front in this second half.
00:10:21Oh, most definitely. And what we've got to be careful at,
00:10:24Austin Trussie done it probably the first one, just about a couple of minutes before halftime,
00:10:27the ball came up and he's went and dominated the first header. Prior to that, he hadn't won a header.
00:10:32But also the fact is, when we're attacking so desperate to score a goal, everybody's going forward.
00:10:37And there was an occasion where Trussie was left on his own, but Cermiti just peeled away from him.
00:10:42And because Rangers don't try and play through the line of it, they'll just clear it, you know,
00:10:47they will just clear it and then all of a sudden you're caught.
00:10:49And it can be a small detail like that, it can cost us dearly.
00:10:52And we have to stop giving so many silly set plays away, that's for sure.
00:10:56Because Rangers look very dangerous from them.
00:10:58Yeah, I mean, I think that obviously the only statistic that really matters is the score line.
00:11:02But they've had three corners in the first half, we haven't had any.
00:11:05And they do look, because they have that aerial threat as well, that will manage to avoid conceding anything from
00:11:11them.
00:11:11But you don't want to give them too many chances.
00:11:13One hundred percent, but you're saying they've had three corners.
00:11:15But Tavernier's throwing like a corner also, and he's at about three or four in that final third.
00:11:20So it means even when you're clearing the ball, as I said, the one Kieran kicked straight.
00:11:24But I'm saying try and clear it up the line, so it's followed up the pitch, so it's not as
00:11:27dangerous.
00:11:28But the fact that we bring everyone back into the box is a concern for me.
00:11:32The last free kick, thankfully, they headed over the bar.
00:11:35But we had three players, two on the wall and Callum behind it, doing absolutely nothing.
00:11:38They had three players on the edge of the box free.
00:11:41And you're thinking, we're going to get done with something simple like that when you're working so hard to dominate
00:11:46football-wise.
00:11:48But it could be a simple thing like set play if you don't be clued in that you can be
00:11:51punished for.
00:11:53I'm just seeing the fourth official down there.
00:11:55He's got his board out, so there's a change.
00:11:58I'm not sure. It looks as if it might be Sebastian Tonecti.
00:12:00So Tonecti, I think, is coming on for Luke McCown at the start of the second half.
00:12:05So the first of those changes.
00:12:09Is Tonecti likely to play on the left and Yang put over onto the right-hand side?
00:12:14Yeah, that's what it's going to do. You can see Yang's moving over there.
00:12:17I mean Martin obviously went right away, I'm going to do this, make this change.
00:12:21And listen, great credit to young Luke. He never had the greatest in the first half.
00:12:24But he's a big hand in the goal and I'm a big supporter of him.
00:12:28I think he's desperate to do well for Celtic, you know, all the time.
00:12:32And all was so important to Tonecti as well. Looking for him to create, but he needs to be tracking
00:12:37that to have any run back as well.
00:12:39Yeah, but also what I would say to Tonecti, if I was Mark or Sean or that in the dressing
00:12:44room now,
00:12:45I'm saying every time you receive the ball, I want you to face the throw back up and go and
00:12:49take him on.
00:12:50And see if you lose the ball, I don't care. What I want you to do is I want you
00:12:53to be positive.
00:12:54I don't want you to come on and start passing the ball as he has been doing in the last
00:12:57few weeks.
00:12:58Every time he gets it, he passes it back and passes it inside.
00:13:00A job as a winger is to go and commit the throwbacks and hopefully,
00:13:04that's what the boys have said to him before, just before they come on, sorry.
00:13:07So the one change at half-time, the Celtic get ready to kick off the second half.
00:13:11So that's in the sallow and goals, the back four of Johnson, trusty, Scales and Tierney.
00:13:17Midfield trio, McGregor, Engles and Negrin.
00:13:19Yang now on the right-hand side, the goalscorer of course, Maida still through the middle,
00:13:23and Sebastian Tonecki comes on for Luke McEwen.
00:13:29No changes for the visitors, and Simasalo on the ball.
00:13:36Now with Johnson, got that ridiculous yellow card.
00:13:41Maida flicks that one through to Yang, now on the right-hand side.
00:13:48Maida, and it's all the way back to the Celtic goalkeeper.
00:13:57Sinasalo's got to lift his head, because Rangers are trying to play 3v3 at the back,
00:14:00and if they just miss one of them out and go longer, they've played too many short passes,
00:14:04because you can see Tavernier shouting to the players to push in,
00:14:07so it's a tactic Rangers are obviously trying to do, they're quite willing to go 3v3 at the back.
00:14:12So Sinasalo's not lifted his head once there, and if he goes long, then you've got the race with Maida,
00:14:17with any of them, with half a pitch to run into.
00:14:20So hopefully Sinasalo realises that quickly.
00:14:23First set-piece of the second half goes the way of the visitors, free kick over on their left-hand
00:14:29side,
00:14:30and that has been the case throughout the game.
00:14:34Giga, and Fernandes, and Chukwani all push in towards the edge of the penalty area,
00:14:41Chukwani already a threat, Tavernier leaves this one for Romans,
00:14:47Belgian, left foot delivery into the area, it's Maida who heads that one clear,
00:14:51Negrin can latch on to that one, which he does.
00:14:56Ball forward is blocked by Romans, as Tenecte was taken off down the left-hand side.
00:15:12I think similar to what you were saying in the first half,
00:15:14Celtic just, the quicker the tempo, the better I think it is for him.
00:15:17Oh, for sure.
00:15:22I'm not really not happy with that decision, I think.
00:15:26Well, I just don't think you can put your leg out if you're not actually going to play the ball,
00:15:30he's actually put his leg out so he's blocking a player going to get the ball.
00:15:34It was never a free kick years ago, that's for sure, so it must be another rule that's been brought
00:15:38in.
00:15:43Oh, bogs about in the middle of the park,
00:15:46and it's a free kick to Rangers in the centre circle.
00:15:55He's right, Arne Ingles has got a habit of doing that about giving silly set plays with pulling,
00:15:59but the bottom line is he's pulled him, but that's what I'm talking about,
00:16:03Diamonde's been checked four times and he's telling Arne Ingles that's your last.
00:16:06I do still understand that, Diamonde stood in front of the ball,
00:16:09he's given three free kicks away, and he's never checked them yet.
00:16:13Well, it's interesting, Diamonde's disciplinary record in Europe is somewhat different,
00:16:17he's the two red cards, both of them in Europe,
00:16:19because I think there's a much more lenient interpretation of these challenges domestically.
00:16:26But Rangers have the free kick, the ball curled into the box,
00:16:29270 players go for it.
00:16:31Romance hooks up one back into the six-yard box, Sinasalo punches it clear,
00:16:36and Maeda can knock it on towards Tenechi, but Baron steps in first.
00:16:43Tramiti's forced back,
00:16:46and Tabanero will roll this one all the way back to his goalkeeper.
00:16:53Tramiti just need to settle in at the start of the second half.
00:16:57Tramiti won the throw in, good play from Alistair Johnson.
00:17:01No, it was great, because I've said it too many times this season,
00:17:04I think when you go and press the ball up front, the two wide players are too deep to go
00:17:08and press,
00:17:08so they've got to push in behind, and to be fair, Yang did it,
00:17:11and then Alistair Johnson goes straight in behind, and Rangers gave possession away.
00:17:17Celtic with the ball on the halfway line,
00:17:20Tierney peels off to the left, Tenechi's ahead of him, scales,
00:17:23nodges it through towards Maeda.
00:17:27The ball clicked forward by Tierney, Tabanero manages to get the header on it.
00:17:36Ball knocked out of play and Celtic have the throw in down the left-hand side.
00:17:41Left for Tierney, he launches that one forward,
00:17:43looking for Maeda, good throw in actually from Tierney,
00:17:46ball taken off Maeda's toes, he battles for that one,
00:17:50and Celtic win their first corner of the second half.
00:17:53Excellent from Kieran Tierney, I've said it so often this season,
00:17:56why don't you just throw in the space for Dyson the edit chase after instead of throwing it back,
00:18:00and Kieran sees that, and all of a sudden you get a corner out of absolutely nothing.
00:18:05Well, we talk about Rangers' threat at set pieces, but can Celtic with their first corner of the afternoon
00:18:10be the ones to capitalise, Arne Engels does have a good delivery into the box.
00:18:15Scales entrusting the obvious targets, every Rangers player back in the area defending.
00:18:23Celtic with the opportunity, five minutes of the second half going, can they take the lead?
00:18:26Arne Engels composes himself.
00:18:31Steps forward, delivers, plays it into the six-yard box, and it's headed high in there,
00:18:35it was a good delivery there from Arne Engels, Scales brings that one down,
00:18:39and it's Tavernier who clears it with Scales blocks, and it's out for a throw-in.
00:18:44That was a great ball into the box from Arne Engels.
00:18:46It was a great delivery, and I think that's the big thing, you've got to get across the front,
00:18:49I think Liam Scales did get across the front to be fair,
00:18:52because you don't want Fernandes not standing in that front post area with the delivery like that,
00:18:57but it was a great ball in from Arne Engels.
00:19:05Trusty, up over the halfway line, does it to Yang now on this right-hand side,
00:19:10only the one goal this afternoon, he cuts inside, does well,
00:19:14good play from the Celtic winger, gives it to Tierney,
00:19:17suddenly Celtic on the attack, now with Tenecki the substitute, two men round him,
00:19:22cuts inside onto his right foot, gives it to McGregor,
00:19:25back towards Tenecki, tries to stab it into the box to Negrin,
00:19:27plays that cross, just evades!
00:19:31Dias Ameida, another wonderful team move, and Celtic so close to goal number two.
00:19:36Yeah, it was great play, great ball from Cal, another great ball for Tenecki,
00:19:39and Negrin does everything correctly, and Ameida just a little bit...
00:19:44I don't think he can go any earlier, because if he goes any earlier he'll be offside,
00:19:47he's just stretching to get in there, it was very good play.
00:19:53Well, that's how the goal came about,
00:19:55the Celtic just passed away and carved Rangers open,
00:19:57so close to a second goal, but still one apiece as Scales does well,
00:20:00picks up the list ball, can give it to Yang, Yang takes a touch,
00:20:03she drives towards goal, it's been held back, Rangers can't quite clear the ball,
00:20:07Negrin goes down, surely a free kick, oh my goodness.
00:20:12The referee making the shape of the ball,
00:20:14we all know what the shape of the ball is, but if it's a foul, it's a foul.
00:20:19Yeah, it's difficult for you here, I'm not going to call it yet,
00:20:22but as I say, the referee seems to be very clear that's what it was.
00:20:28I'm not sure Negrin thinks the same, but it was an opportunity again,
00:20:34a little bit of pressure on Rangers higher up the pitch, makes them make the mistake,
00:20:38as I say, the two centre-backs have got a habit to think they're good players,
00:20:41they'll be taking too long on the ball.
00:20:44Here comes Celtic again, the Friam Scales,
00:20:47rolls it out way to Tenecti, on this left-hand side up against Ant-Man,
00:20:51dances over the ball, cuts inside, still Tenecti, checks his run,
00:20:55rolls it across to Negrin, now to McGregor,
00:20:59Tierney's ahead of him.
00:21:02Rangers with Erwin Bar-Termite back.
00:21:11Scales, floats that one forward, looking for Tierney,
00:21:13Tierney fires it across the six-yard box, and Maeda!
00:21:18Dives in Maeda!
00:21:21A wonderful goal, an incredible goal, five in his last four games,
00:21:27and Celtic with 53 minutes on the clock, leads by two goals to one.
00:21:32Oh, listen, we talked about it in the first half of it,
00:21:36putting the ball in behind Rangers, Rangers think he's offside,
00:21:39well Robinson has no flag for the opposite side there,
00:21:41and it's a great ball across the face of the goal,
00:21:45and he said, if you don't like Maeda thinking here,
00:21:47but for me this is the ball from Liam Scales here,
00:21:51and he's onside, the left-back's playing him on,
00:21:53Romans, he's playing him on, and Ciaran puts a brilliant ball across,
00:21:57and Dives in Maeda gets across the straight, the defender.
00:22:01So, as I say, brilliant ball from Liam Scales, another one from Ciaran,
00:22:05the most important thing, a fantastic finishing to Dives in the era.
00:22:08Another assist for Ciaran Tierney, the ball from Liam Scales over the top,
00:22:13and Dives in such a rich vein of form just now,
00:22:16and Celtic have the lead, listen to the roar around paradise.
00:22:25Celtic two, Rangers one, can they go on, can they press home with advantage?
00:22:32Well, we talked about the next goal being so important,
00:22:36that's came the way of Celtic.
00:22:39Ball out of play.
00:22:41But the biggest thing about it all, Paul, was the fact that...
00:22:43And here comes Celtic again, another throw-in from Tierney towards Maeda.
00:22:51Ball goes, you know, with the Rangers player.
00:22:54Thumbs up again for Maeda, and Tierney obviously knows that Maeda's getting in behind him.
00:22:59The throw-in which he's been doing all season, Paul,
00:23:02but we keep looking at it on here often enough.
00:23:04With his pace, you don't want to be thinking, you want to be running the opposition.
00:23:08But listen, we've got to give Tonecti credit as well,
00:23:10because he was positive when he got possession of the ball,
00:23:12and started to manoeuvre.
00:23:14He'd run into the Rangers' backline, pushed them back,
00:23:16then he passed the ball inside, then it came back to Liam Scales,
00:23:18and then it was put forward.
00:23:20But at least he was positive, and that's what we said about him coming on the pitch.
00:23:23You don't want him to get the ball and keep passing it back all the time,
00:23:26which suits Rangers.
00:23:29Diamandie driving forward, gets beyond McGregor,
00:23:32just knocks it too far ahead of him,
00:23:34and Trussie just launches that clearance deep into Rangers territory.
00:23:38I suppose it depends how much Rangers chase the game.
00:23:40You would expect space to open up for Celtic to exploit.
00:23:44Yeah, but the thing with the Rangers is,
00:23:45I think it suits them when they can go forward a little bit quicker.
00:23:48I'm hoping to keep doing what they're doing just now, keep passing it back,
00:23:51because I think that's the weakest, and it'll give us opportunities.
00:23:56What we've got to do is at the back is concentrate,
00:23:59because you can see where Trussie's going to weigh in.
00:24:02Negren plays it to McGregor, Maida on the edge of the D.
00:24:08Celtic just had the ball wrapped up on their feet there,
00:24:10Negren couldn't get out of his feet, but Celtic come again, here come Tierney.
00:24:15He was looking for the return from Ternetke,
00:24:17Ternetke cuts inside, goes to the touchline,
00:24:20plays it low, it's a chance for Maida.
00:24:25Oh, Maida!
00:24:28What a goal!
00:24:30That is goal of the season!
00:24:34Dyson Maida!
00:24:36Shelton Lee by three goals to one.
00:24:39Have you ever seen anything like this in your life?
00:24:43Oh, what a minute, I thought it was dropped over the top.
00:24:46I couldn't believe it, they dropped in the back of the net.
00:24:50They're talking about missing a big chance, I told you,
00:24:52but he's not getting the type of thing.
00:24:54That's when he's at his best.
00:24:55Yeah, that is just a wonderful, wonderful goal.
00:24:58Yet again, Ternetke, positive.
00:25:01Can Kieran Tierney on this side?
00:25:02Not a great clearance, there's only one thing you can do.
00:25:04Oh, wow, he couldn't have placed a bit of his hand.
00:25:12Wow, wow, I've nearly lost my voice, that is unbelievable.
00:25:23You'll get much better than that.
00:25:31Well, Celtic Park has seen some incredible goals over the years.
00:25:36That is right up there.
00:25:38Dyson Maida, his second goal of the game, Celtic's third.
00:25:43There's a man who would be proud of a goal like that.
00:25:46No more Maravchik, he's enjoyed that.
00:25:47I wouldn't be surprised with that, he done it.
00:25:53But listen, yet again, I've got to give Ternetke credit,
00:25:56I said it at the first half, I hope he doesn't come on and start passing the ball.
00:26:00He's been very, very positive.
00:26:01He's run at Tavernier every time he's got the ball so far.
00:26:11Well, I have to tell you, the atmosphere is absolutely bouncing inside Celtic Park.
00:26:15There's two quick-fire goals from Dyson Maida.
00:26:19Six goals in his last four games, and that is the pick of the bunch.
00:26:24Are you doing goal of the season next month?
00:26:28Well, Rangers making three changes.
00:26:31Tavernier comes off to be replaced by Doujon Sterling.
00:26:38Asgard comes on as well, as does Gassama.
00:26:44Well, Ant-Man goes off, took Tavernier off, and it looks as if it might be...
00:26:50I'm not sure if it's Diamandé.
00:26:53The Rangers having to make some changes, they are shell-shocked.
00:26:59It's almost another on the clock, and Celtic lead by three goals to one.
00:27:07I think he scored a third goal in any shape or form.
00:27:10Gives Celtic a boost, but it's the manner of that goal, Peter.
00:27:14It would have blown the roof off if we had one here.
00:27:17Yeah, well, as I said, I thought it was dropping over from here, Paul.
00:27:21It looked as if it was dropping over, but it actually dropped in the back of it.
00:27:23I couldn't believe it.
00:27:24And I'm absolutely delighted for him, because he missed a big chance in the first half.
00:27:28But the one thing, you're seeing it even just now, the players are competing.
00:27:32These games, you have to compete, I mean, in everything.
00:27:36And competing is in different ways.
00:27:38Competing is like, say, Tinecti picking the ball up,
00:27:40running at Tavernier, going and trying to take him on.
00:27:42That's competing.
00:27:43Don't make it easy for them, you're comfortable for them.
00:27:45And this is a team that wants to be comfortable, Rangers, especially at the back.
00:27:49And the Celtic have started fantastically well, and great credit to Kieran Tierney.
00:27:53He keeps feeding Tinecti, he's threw the ball down the line for me to get throw-ins and corners.
00:27:57Simple things like that.
00:28:03They're going to turn the heads that one forward, Paul Flaher offside,
00:28:06the referee waves the advantage, and suddenly Celtic on the attack there with Johnson,
00:28:09stabs it forward, looking for the run of Yang.
00:28:13Fernandes will get there first, and the ball out on play for the throw-in.
00:28:20Celtic looking to press forward, press home that advantage, Maida now on a hat-trick,
00:28:25the ball cleared up to the halfway, scales, wins the header,
00:28:28the Celtic captain knocks it to Tierney, plays it forward to Negrin, back to McGregor again,
00:28:33to Negrin, out wide to Tinecti.
00:28:39Oh, Celtic.
00:28:41What a start to the second half.
00:28:45They can't get much better in that respect because of it,
00:28:49they've caused them, I've not seen it as great since the late in football.
00:28:53Johnson plays it into the box, it's headed clear by Giga.
00:28:56Mikey Moore scrambles that one clear.
00:29:04Negrin tries to play it towards Maida, Giga gets in there again.
00:29:21Well, this is just unbelievable.
00:29:27Well, I think we'll wait and hopefully that table is the same at the end of the match as it
00:29:32is just now,
00:29:33but Dyson Maida's wonder goal, and here comes Celtic again with Yang.
00:29:41Yang, well, surely a free kick, oh my goodness.
00:29:45What are some of the free kicks the referee's given, that was a pretty straightforward one.
00:29:50Yeah, I don't know the reason why he didn't give it there, because if he's not given it, he's got
00:29:53to book Yang.
00:29:54I mean, you know, so, he's obviously not sure.
00:30:04Aaron McGregor on the ball.
00:30:09You know, just about half an hour of the match remaining, Celtic leading by three goals to one.
00:30:24Well, surely that's got to be yellow card.
00:30:36Well, that's a fair degree of leniency.
00:30:41Particularly given Alistair Johnson's yellow card for a legitimate tackle.
00:30:47Yeah, listen, I don't like yellow cards for any players, if I know what I like myself.
00:30:53I don't mind him if I give it to the opposition, Peter.
00:30:56Yeah, but you've got, well, I can give it to you in one respect, if you're giving it one part
00:31:01of the game,
00:31:01you've got to give it to the second part of the game.
00:31:04You can't just keep warming them, and I know it's probably Robins' first free kick,
00:31:07and it's frustrating for these own players.
00:31:10What we've got to do is make sure we don't breathe life back in and we're doing something silly.
00:31:14Keep doing what we're doing.
00:31:15I know you can control the game, but control it in their half hour.
00:31:19Don't mess about and make mistakes on their own side of the pitch.
00:31:24Johnson puts it on to Yang, here comes Celtic again.
00:31:26Yang can deliver it into the box, looking for Maida.
00:31:29Back to Yang, dances over the ball, goes to the touchline.
00:31:34He's headed up into the air.
00:31:36Taneke first to react, good first touch from the Tunisian, gives it to Tierney.
00:31:40Tierney, oh, it's time, oh, he's delivering normally, so pinpoint, perfect.
00:31:45This time goes wide, there's a brief moment of respite for Rangers,
00:31:49but Martin O'Neill will be absolutely delighted with the way the second half has started,
00:31:54but still a long way to go.
00:31:56Yeah, absolutely, and he's very much aware of that, because we've seen it before when Rangers were very comfortable at
00:32:0264 minutes at Ibrox,
00:32:04and then Celtic tumped the game right round, and there's no footballs like that.
00:32:09As I say, that's why I'm saying I think Celtic have got to just make sure we just don't get
00:32:12too comfortable sitting there as a team.
00:32:14I'm sure Callum's experience will not allow that, Alistair Johnson's experience won't allow that.
00:32:19Keep getting the ball and looking forward with your passing.
00:32:22Good play from Taneke in a defensive sense, Engels wins that ball in midfield,
00:32:27slides it forward to Yang, here comes Celtic again, Maida, Taneke, Negrin's there, Negrin can take a touch.
00:32:34Still Negrin, nudges it through to Taneke, he's inside the box,
00:32:39still Taneke plays it low, spins back, knocks it towards Tierney, good play again, Celtic on the break, looks so
00:32:47dangerous.
00:32:52Engels is inside, he's got time, he's got space, can move forward.
00:32:56Oh, we saw the shot in the first half, this time he opts to play it out wide.
00:33:09And Yang just took his eye off the ball there.
00:33:12Trusty steps in, knocks it forward, Romster in play, it's not going to play, good pressing there.
00:33:20It's exactly where you want the ball to be with 25 minutes to go.
00:33:23Well, that's what I said to you, Paul, that's the important thing for it,
00:33:26is to make sure the Rangers are facing their own goal, it's so, so important.
00:33:31We don't want them to get back in the game with a mistake or an error, just a clearance up
00:33:35the pitch,
00:33:35you've got to make them face their own goal.
00:33:39Celtic fans doing the huddle, sure much the delight of some of the Rangers and former Rangers players,
00:33:45pundits sitting in the press box, with all the Celtic fans with big grins facing them.
00:33:51Celtic have control of this game, but we want to keep, as Peter was saying, pressing home their advantage,
00:33:57here they come again down the right-hand side with Yang, it's a fine game, and he's fouled that time,
00:34:02he does get the foul, and Celtic have the free kick.
00:34:06That's the one thing about Yang, every time he's got the ball, even in the second half,
00:34:09he's been very positive, and I think Romans is a good player for the Rangers,
00:34:13but he's put them on their back foot, and Roman's strength is a good 1v1 defender,
00:34:18his strength's coming the other way, but Yang's pushed them back and not allowed them to come forward,
00:34:22which is a very important part of the game, and he'll be chuffed with his performance,
00:34:25and he's pushed for by his goal, I think he's been outstanding in the second half.
00:34:36Spears is a bit of time, Tierney moves inside, Tanecki just drops off to the right-hand side,
00:34:41Tierney inside left channel, tries to flick it through the space,
00:34:44Sterling will get there ahead of Tanecki, back to the goalkeeper.
00:34:50He launches that one up towards the half-way line, Trusty challenges,
00:34:55Mikey Moore dances past his mind, he's been tumped back,
00:34:59I can imagine Trusty's going to get yellow carded for that challenge.
00:35:03But yet again, Paul, it's down to the fact that he doesn't go and win the first header,
00:35:08and too many times it happens, you know, he's always stretching to get there,
00:35:11he's got to lead the first ball, he's got to lead the first ball up,
00:35:14because he gives too many free kicks, and that allows Rangers, and simple things like this,
00:35:19you know how quick football board can change, don't let them back into it, we're doing silly things.
00:35:27Sterling can roll that one on, and the ball's kept in play, but it's Tanecki,
00:35:32that's it forward, Celtic have the throw in, the ball caught,
00:35:37Kasama unawares, and Tierney once again launches that one long to find Maeda,
00:35:41still Maeda, still Maeda, this time he's dispossessed.
00:36:00They just have them all in the middle of the path,
00:36:02switch straight away to De Samoa on the straight-hand side up against Tierney.
00:36:07The Locks up 3 on Maeda, gets her first.
00:36:11The Locks up 3, there's no one there.
00:36:14Rangers had the ball back.
00:36:23And he goes to Crest Famandas.
00:36:28And the visitors have been forced back into their own half.
00:36:31Oh, yeah.
00:36:37Tristan gets there first, out of play, knocked into the area,
00:36:47wins the header, the ball out of play and it's gone behind for a goal kick,
00:36:53looks to the delight of the Celtic fans in that Lisbon line stand,
00:36:58a sense of relief in the comedy position.
00:37:01It's a sense of relief because all of a sudden he switched off,
00:37:04Tristan gives the throw away but turns his back and he throws it straight into the box.
00:37:11A few interested managers from the SPFL.
00:37:24So two games after this one, a mid-week trip to third park which won't be easy,
00:37:28and then of course next weekend a home game against Arts,
00:37:34which could be the winner-takes-all showdown in the title,
00:37:39but here come Rangers with goal-scorer Mikey Moore.
00:37:42Ninth minute, he scored.
00:37:44Tenstein said it had kept him quiet but he manages to get that ball into the box,
00:37:47scales, heads it clear, Yang knocks it away to Johnson, that was good clearance from Celtic.
00:37:58And Martin O'Neill kicking every ball on the touch line,
00:38:03where Passion is there, the ball floated over the top again to Moore,
00:38:07brings that one down, throws it inside.
00:38:12It's bad, Rangers have the ball in the middle of the park,
00:38:16and again Celtic, every man behind the ball, into the centre circle.
00:38:2620 minutes away, Celtic lead by three goals to one,
00:38:29with a double in the second half,
00:38:33including one of the most spectacular, wonderful goals that you'll ever see.
00:38:37Good play from Tenetke.
00:38:42Celtic battling for every ball,
00:38:44Barron on that right touch line,
00:38:46cuts it forward, Celtic meet it,
00:38:49it's forced back by scales,
00:38:51Barron cuts it back.
00:38:53Rangers taking one step forward, two step back,
00:38:55but they're still in possession at the moment.
00:38:58Yeah, we've just got to be careful, Paul,
00:38:59we're allowing them to speak a little bit back into their half,
00:39:02and you know, we've said it many times before,
00:39:05you know you've got to keep that concentration
00:39:08getting too easy for them.
00:39:15.
00:39:20We've travelled too far up the pitch with the ball,
00:39:23we've got to get tackles in, keep that going,
00:39:25you can see Yang, he's done so much work now,
00:39:27maybe it's something Martin may be looking at now,
00:39:30maybe a James Flores now may come on.
00:39:32Oh, interesting, it looks as if,
00:39:34when I'm looking down at the dugout,
00:39:36it looks as if Hattati might be the player to come on,
00:39:38maybe just to put his foot on the ball on the midfield.
00:39:41Well, you know, I can see Arnie Engles waving over,
00:39:44I'm not sure if it's Arnie Engles.
00:39:47So Celtic dominating position in this second half of course,
00:39:51but most importantly they are dominating in terms of the scoreline,
00:39:54they're about to make another change,
00:39:55and it will be real Hattati,
00:39:57going by the impact he made in the league game at Ibrox,
00:40:01that two each game that he scored in the last minute.
00:40:03And maybe take Negan off,
00:40:04and just put Stifle on the midfield a little bit more.
00:40:09The ball floated left to right, Tierney wins that header,
00:40:13timed his jump well.
00:40:18Kusama.
00:40:21Tierney knocks it through.
00:40:24Mikey Moore gets beyond Jang, tries to hold him off.
00:40:28Still Mikey Moore, good challenge in the end there.
00:40:31Kieran Tierney, great defensive player from Tierney.
00:40:35Yeah, it was great, great tackle, needed it,
00:40:37but that's what I'm saying, this is an important period this part,
00:40:42and it's maybe something you've got to look at Kieran as well,
00:40:44because you see him stretching again,
00:40:45maybe you're looking at Sarache,
00:40:47you don't want Rangers to get back in,
00:40:48or you don't want a Celtic player booked or sent off.
00:41:02Corner kick.
00:41:04Celtic almost get off of their own downfall there,
00:41:07with a slack clearance from angles,
00:41:10but they have to defend what would be Rangers' first corner of the second half.
00:41:17Patate waits to come on,
00:41:19back to Rollins to deliver this one into the box,
00:41:23Rangers looking for a way back into the game,
00:41:25they trail by three goals to one.
00:41:30The ball floated into the such-yard box, it scales ahead, it's clear.
00:41:37Asama, back to Rollins, he knocks it to the far post,
00:41:42and it's going behind, another corner kick,
00:41:47and there's a couple of Celtic players down.
00:41:56It will require treatment.
00:41:59I think it's Arnie Engles and Alistair Johnson maybe.
00:42:05Yeah, it looks as if Engles, in fact both players are down at the moment.
00:42:10Does that mean they both have to go off?
00:42:12I'm hoping not, I was just thinking because it's head injuries, Paul,
00:42:15I'm not sure the rule on that, but if it's a head injury I think you don't need to go
00:42:19off.
00:42:20If I know the rule, I don't know the rules, they change every week.
00:42:32Yeah, and Arnie Engles slowly gets to his feet, and again,
00:42:35Real Hattati waits patiently on the touch line.
00:42:39Well, hopefully, Celtic...
00:42:49Yeah, you allowed him to stay on, yeah, I thought it was with a head injury.
00:42:53Hopefully you do know the rules, Peter, as does the referee, so Celtic have another corner kick through the end,
00:42:58one from the right-hand side this time.
00:43:01The ball swung in near post, Callum McGregor heads it away and Tenecti's got space,
00:43:06he can run with that one, needs to clear that down the line, knocks it forward towards Yang.
00:43:11Oh, it's just going out of play there, otherwise Yang was through.
00:43:16Celtic will make the change now, and it's Real Hattati to come on.
00:43:23And it's Benjamin Negrin to come off.
00:43:28Callum McGregor just getting some instructions from Sean Maloney on the touch line.
00:43:33Rioski about to come on as well for Rangers.
00:43:47I think he's going to play Arnie Engles along with Callum.
00:43:50And he's going to play Real Hattati, he just advanced off them.
00:43:53That's the way it looks anyway.
00:44:06So, Ciccolani off, Rioski on, so two men up front for Rangers, he's tearing the heads up within.
00:44:12Hattati gets a touch, Yang forward to Maida.
00:44:16Oh, he flicks it round the corner.
00:44:17Yeah, Tenecti taken off.
00:44:2314 minutes plus added time remaining, Celtic lead by three goals to one.
00:44:27A goal in the first half from Yang, a double, a delightful double from Dyson Maida.
00:44:32He's put Celtic in charge, but still they're having to defend.
00:44:37Here comes Celtic.
00:44:40Nine up at the halfway lane.
00:44:43Well, Welsh have been inside to Real Hattati, instead Rangers on the attack.
00:44:48ball into the box, and Celtic Sheppard that one out of play.
00:45:01Well, in the absence of any football, Rangers trying to start the fight.
00:45:27Well, I'm not sure who the referee's going to call over.
00:45:31He's calling Kieran Tierney off, I don't know what Kieran was going to do.
00:45:34I think it was Alistair Johnson at first.
00:45:36I think he actually tried to saturate him because he didn't want to make them feel as if they were
00:45:40drawing a hand off each other.
00:45:45I'm surprised, I don't know why Kieran...
00:45:49Well, given the fact that he booked Alistair Johnson for nothing in the first half, I'm guessing Kieran Tierney had
00:45:54nothing to do in the second half.
00:45:55Well, it's interesting.
00:45:56They thought Roman should have been booked, we're talking about it earlier on there.
00:45:59Yeah, and if he had, he wouldn't have got a booking there.
00:46:01Yeah, exactly.
00:46:02And that's what you're saying, at the time it looks nothing, but it becomes important.
00:46:1112 minutes of the 90 remaining.
00:46:15Celtic leading by three goals to one.
00:46:20Heading towards three points, it would be just the gap at the top of the table to just one point
00:46:24with two matches remaining.
00:46:26Two tough matches, of course.
00:46:28But it would certainly signal a final day shoot out here at Celtic Park between Celtic and Harps.
00:46:37Trusting heads that one back into the Rangers' half.
00:46:43Tierney tries to knock that one forward, the ball out wide to the right-hand side.
00:46:48Charmite goes down, no challenger scales.
00:46:53Well, it's a free kick and a yellow card to the Irishman.
00:46:56I'm trying to work out if Celtic have any more strubs left, because if I had, I'd be putting Saracci
00:47:00on.
00:47:01Because Kieran's struggling a little bit, he's just been booked and you wouldn't want to lose him for the rest
00:47:04of the season, you know, with a two-game suspension or something.
00:47:09The Rangers have the free kick.
00:47:11There is some movement in the Celtic dugout, but they will wait and defend this set-piece.
00:47:19Kieran's going to pass.
00:47:19Kasama and Barron over the ball.
00:47:23Samasalo just in his left-hand post at the moment.
00:47:25Hatati's just a one-man wall, the ball's going to be swung into the area.
00:47:30Celtic have to defend this set-piece.
00:47:47It's headed into the arms of Phil Sunasalo, happy to smother that one.
00:47:52Hatati, the furthest man forward.
00:47:54I don't think Samasalo would be in any hurry to take this one.
00:47:57Certainly, it looks as if Nacho's going to be one of the players to come on.
00:48:00I would imagine that Yang maybe go off and Maeda would go out to one of the flanks.
00:48:09Ball not forward, looking for the run of Maeda.
00:48:12He's onside, surely he's onside.
00:48:13This could be a hat-trick.
00:48:16Oh, he's put it wide while the flag goes up at any rate, but my goodness,
00:48:20that should have been in the back of the net.
00:48:23Thankfully he's offside.
00:48:25He only likes to score spectacular goals.
00:48:28Unbelievable.
00:48:29Oh, that's so tight as well.
00:48:35So, Yang to be replaced by Iheanacho,
00:48:38and Anthony Ralson coming on for Alistair Johnson.
00:48:44Maeda comes over to the left, Tenekti goes to the right,
00:48:48and Iheanacho through the middle.
00:48:49He's going to score Iheanacho, isn't he?
00:48:51That would be brilliant.
00:48:53That would make me settle out a little bit here.
00:48:55Still it's 3-1, you know, and you think he's so important the next goal is.
00:48:58We've got to give him a chance.
00:49:02But I'm just looking at Kieran Tierney, he was looking over at the bench there,
00:49:05and I'm just hoping...
00:49:07because you see him stretching and he's looking over at Sean as if to say,
00:49:11would you not take me off there?
00:49:14He's too important a player.
00:49:16He's not a player...
00:49:22And he's looking.
00:49:22And we can see in the players, Rangers are committing forward.
00:49:26McGregor switches it forward to Maeda.
00:49:28Down this left-hand side, he cuts it, looking for Hattati and slips in the Rangers.
00:49:32the ball with Asgard, out wide to Kusama, Neyder chasing back, and he will be booked,
00:49:44that is a Neyder, Rangers take the three-bit quickly, they're going to be drawn back,
00:49:49far gratuitously for them since Barron had given the ball away.
00:49:53Now we've got to be careful at that now, because I don't mean he's not a great defender,
00:50:00but it's a sort of jogger out from the back, you've got Rio Hattie, you've got Dyson Maiden, you've got
00:50:04Tenekti,
00:50:05so you've got to make sure when the ball goes long that they won't all walk back into their own
00:50:09half,
00:50:10because what you don't want is to be isolated without the four Rangers midfield going on to second balls,
00:50:16because Rangers are going to go more direct now because they've got two centre forwards on.
00:50:21And if Celtic play it right, they can break so quickly from the midfield,
00:50:25because Celtic have got the overload in there.
00:50:27It does look as if Martello Serrachi is just getting ready to come on,
00:50:31so that will be the other change on this left-hand side,
00:50:33Tierney looks as if he's out on his feet almost.
00:50:38The ball drops to Romans, back inside Asgard, so Celtic keen to make another change,
00:50:46and the ball's curled to the far post.
00:50:50Still in play, Kasama up against Maida, Maida fires that one up towards the half-way line.
00:50:59Martin O'Neill just ushering Kelechi to close down the play.
00:51:07The ball fired off Kieran Tierney, and he's gone down and he will be getting replaced by Marcelo Serrachi.
00:51:16And there indeed is the change, Kieran Tierney's had a fine game this afternoon, Peter.
00:51:23I'm a big fan of Kieran Tierney, obviously.
00:51:26But I think Serrachi, I think he's so important to us because Kieran seems to get through that 60-70
00:51:31minutes at this moment in time.
00:51:33We've got to remember, it's a long time since he's done that in games.
00:51:37And Serrachi, he's been excellent since he's came on, and he sparks the fans.
00:51:41But I think it's a really, really important change, because you've got Dyson Maida on this side as well, which
00:51:48helps.
00:51:48We need that extra leg, so Kieran wasn't going to get a 2v1 situation.
00:51:52Ball launched into the box.
00:51:55Breaks down and Hatati hook's clear, just about six minutes-plus added time remaining at Celtic Park.
00:52:01Celtic still with that two-goal lead, the ball all the way back to Buckland.
00:52:05The blitz sucks players up, Rangers.
00:52:08Last throw of the dice for them.
00:52:11The ball over to the left-hand side, and it's gone out of play.
00:52:16Frustration from the Rangers players who'd stayed up.
00:52:21Celtic halved possession.
00:52:22It's all about game management now, can they see this game out?
00:52:25They've got themselves into such a strong position.
00:52:29They've worked so hard to get into this position.
00:52:31Now, as I say, what you don't want to do is slow the game in your own half.
00:52:34Put it in the opposition half and then you can slow it down in there.
00:52:37But you don't give Rangers, as you said, they've got two strikers on there,
00:52:40they've got two wide players that are leaving the midfield empty.
00:52:44So they're pushing everyone forward.
00:52:45And when they get an opportunity, they'll put two centre-backs up.
00:52:49So you know what they're going to do, they're going to go direct.
00:52:52So we've got to make sure we're not put out with a second ball,
00:52:54some knock down to the edge of the box.
00:53:07And the ball all the way back to the Rangers goalkeeper.
00:53:12The natural chases that one over.
00:53:16And again it's back to Butland.
00:53:20Into the last five minutes, the nerves are shredded,
00:53:24even with that two-goal lead.
00:53:30Oh, Tanecki almost took it off the toes of Asgard there,
00:53:33and look at the press of Celtic.
00:53:36Brilliant, and that's what I'm saying about Tanecki,
00:53:38he's looked much sharper.
00:53:40Now we've got to get back in now because that's what he's doing,
00:53:42look at Maeders getting back in, fantastic from him.
00:53:45Oh, that looked like a bad challenge there.
00:53:47Surely the referee's got to look at that.
00:53:50Well, thankfully Raulsen back on his feet,
00:53:52he's got the free kick.
00:53:53I think Tony Rawls has done him a favour actually as well.
00:53:58No, I think it's a fair tackle, it's a proper tackle,
00:54:00he's not went to Studs Schoenner,
00:54:03give him the benefit there.
00:54:05He's went for the ball and so has Tony,
00:54:06and Tony's not went down to make out meal of it.
00:54:08So the referee's made the correct decision there.
00:54:16If only we had the gift of making Tane move quicker, Peter.
00:54:20Tell me about 3-1-0, I've never been so nervous.
00:54:26Just another goal, is that too much to ask for?
00:54:29No, definitely not.
00:54:35It'll be probably about three or four minutes anyway added on at the end of the game.
00:54:40Iheanacho knocks that one forward.
00:54:59And Tate and Iheanacho just trying to close that play down,
00:55:03but Rangers have managed to pass their way through,
00:55:04and Miofsky plays it forward,
00:55:07Ralston will get there first, just nudges it back to Salisalo.
00:55:09Good defensive player from Anthony Ralston,
00:55:11needed to be sharp there.
00:55:15Well, surely a foul again on Ralston.
00:55:20And again, he just gets back on his feet.
00:55:22Solid.
00:55:22And to be fair, what he did was he kept his eye on the ball,
00:55:26and you can see Miofsky's looking at Tony Ralston
00:55:28and jumps into him.
00:55:29The referee's made the correct decision.
00:55:31And Tony, yet again, as you say,
00:55:33the type of character he is,
00:55:34he's not going to lie down and try and get someone booked.
00:55:44I'm sure the nerves will be dangling in the Celtic bench.
00:55:48Still a feeling of being shell-shocked in the Rangers bench.
00:55:52Scores two goals from Dyson Maida.
00:55:56This score line stays the same.
00:55:58I mean, one of the great goals at Celtic Park,
00:56:02Dyson Maida scored, just went to seal the three points.
00:56:09I heard a fall there by Ralston,
00:56:11I heard not with, I think it's Arne Engels,
00:56:15in the wars this afternoon.
00:56:21He's kind of laid his arm there.
00:56:23Yeah, but to be fair, what he's done,
00:56:25his arm he's jumped into,
00:56:27Barron.
00:56:29And the two of them have done the same thing,
00:56:30and obviously he's come out the worst,
00:56:32so listen, just go on with it.
00:56:34Do what Tony Ralston did,
00:56:36go up, get yourself one with it.
00:56:47Interesting to see how many added minutes.
00:56:50looks like four.
00:56:5390 seconds plus four added minutes.
00:57:08The Rangers are going to push everybody up front,
00:57:10and just try and play the quick free kick.
00:57:13Seller, Brooklyn, Seller, Seller, Brooklyn.
00:57:18But don't get me wrong, Diamonde was doing it all the first half.
00:57:22That's what frustrates players and managers,
00:57:25but Rio should have just stepped away,
00:57:26not got a solid looking.
00:57:31Here comes Romans, into the box.
00:57:38Carlson knocks it forward,
00:57:40and Celtic passed away forward,
00:57:42Ian Acho,
00:57:42the ball slides down towards Hitati,
00:57:45and Celtic suddenly on the counter-attack.
00:57:52Hitati just puts his foot in the ball there.
00:57:56Oh, Callum McGregor took his eye off the ball,
00:57:58and suddenly Rangers on the counter-attack,
00:58:00and the angle slides in.
00:58:02Good play from the Belgian,
00:58:04he's in another great game this afternoon.
00:58:07Oh, it's been a big plus having him and Johnson available,
00:58:09that's for sure.
00:58:11And Tanek, to be fair to him,
00:58:12we've been critical off him,
00:58:13I think the second half he's been excellent,
00:58:15very positive.
00:58:18Kusama comes inside,
00:58:19it's Sriracha,
00:58:20there will be four added minutes,
00:58:22we are into those four added minutes.
00:58:24Those are the silly fouls you don't want to be given away, Peter.
00:58:26Yeah, exactly, exactly.
00:58:28That's what I'm saying,
00:58:29you just be patient in there because
00:58:31the only way you see Rangers scoring at this moment is a set play,
00:58:34because of their height advantage,
00:58:36and Bannon has got good ability as well,
00:58:40since he's taken over to Tavernier.
00:58:44You don't want to be scoring,
00:58:45make it a nervous couple of minutes, that's for sure.
00:58:49Celtic three and a half minutes away from a vital three points,
00:58:53it would reduce the deficit at the top of the table to just one point,
00:58:57with two games remaining,
00:58:59one of which is the last game of the season next weekend against Harps,
00:59:02before then we have a tricky trip to third part,
00:59:04the Celtic just need to see this out,
00:59:06they have defended the set pieces so well this afternoon,
00:59:08can they continue?
00:59:13Ball, quoted again into the area,
00:59:15it's knocked away over to the far side,
00:59:18Giga has the ball,
00:59:20plays it off a Celtic player,
00:59:21the Celtic will have to defend another corner kick.
00:59:24Nervy last couple of minutes,
00:59:26thank goodness we've got the two-goal lead.
00:59:28For sure,
00:59:30even in any game,
00:59:32obviously you've got Molo and the Harts coming up,
00:59:34there's a lot of difference between the Harts,
00:59:35but the Harts are very good at set plays,
00:59:37so simple things like that,
00:59:38I think they give far too many of them away,
00:59:40I must admit,
00:59:41and it allows opponents to get an opportunity.
00:59:45Barron on the ball,
00:59:46to deliver this ball into a jam-packed such a box,
00:59:49Celtic just need to be clear,
00:59:51McGregor hooks that one clear,
00:59:53the Celtic captain up towards the halfway line,
00:59:55Tenecki sprinting to try and close down Mikey Moore,
00:59:58he has to play it all the way back to his goalkeeper.
01:00:04Moore,
01:00:05under pressure from Hatate,
01:00:07needs to watch,
01:00:07he's already been yellow carded,
01:00:10so has Diza Maida battling with Asgard,
01:00:15goes out wide to Fernandes,
01:00:18to Tramiti into the box,
01:00:20plays it back,
01:00:20and the angles blocks it.
01:00:23Great position as a midfield player,
01:00:25we've got down the side of the pitch,
01:00:27he's got all the way in,
01:00:27and he's right,
01:00:28he's shunted that,
01:00:28he's used his head,
01:00:29because he's already been booted,
01:00:31and listen,
01:00:32it's a simple thing like this,
01:00:33when you're 3-1 up,
01:00:34you're going to get somebody sent off,
01:00:35it'd be crazy.
01:00:36especially with two games remaining,
01:00:38Celtic having to defend again,
01:00:40less than two minutes of the four remaining.
01:00:43The ball floated into the box again,
01:00:46Stales wins the header,
01:00:48Barron back out to Romans,
01:00:50Romans scoops it into the six-yard box,
01:00:53the ball off the bar,
01:00:54and Sinisalo smothers it inside the six-yard box,
01:00:57relief,
01:00:59ripples round Celtic Park,
01:01:00Newovsky,
01:01:01head in his hands,
01:01:02comes close to reducing the deficit,
01:01:05but thankfully,
01:01:06well,
01:01:07we've just got about 60 seconds left,
01:01:08Peter,
01:01:09I think we're going to see this one out.
01:01:10Yeah,
01:01:11but as I say,
01:01:12it's just a warm,
01:01:13and not even just for this particular match.
01:01:16I've said it right from the start,
01:01:17they give two silly,
01:01:18many silly set plays away,
01:01:20and it allows opponents,
01:01:21who are not playing that particularly well,
01:01:22but because they've got good delivery,
01:01:24and if it's not Liam Scales that's heading it,
01:01:26nobody else seems to get their head on it.
01:01:29So actually just needs to watch this one.
01:01:33Oh, Romans goes down,
01:01:34I mean,
01:01:35talk about cheating.
01:01:41Or both,
01:01:42the linesman and the referee's looking.
01:01:45I don't...
01:01:45It doesn't matter how many times he looks at his hand,
01:01:48blood's not going to magically appear on it.
01:01:50I mean...
01:01:51I don't even know if anything's happened.
01:01:59Ball into the box,
01:02:01Arne Engels again is there,
01:02:03Bioski takes a touch,
01:02:04has to knock it back,
01:02:05Hatate,
01:02:07Inacho,
01:02:09Taneke took off again,
01:02:11another free kick,
01:02:12we're almost out of time.
01:02:14And indeed,
01:02:16we are about to go just one point behind,
01:02:20Harps with two games remaining,
01:02:23Celtic taking a vital three points in the derby,
01:02:27but they have to defend this one last set piece,
01:02:29we are over the four added minutes.
01:02:33This would only reduce the deficit,
01:02:35the Celtic fans,
01:02:37the Celtic players,
01:02:38they want to hear that final whistle.
01:02:42Barron clips it into the box.
01:02:48Well,
01:02:51the referee,
01:02:51will they let Celtic take the goal kick?
01:02:54They are almost out of time.
01:02:57The Celtic fans,
01:02:59Celtic Park,
01:03:01gets ready to erupt at the final whistle.
01:03:05It has been a strong performance,
01:03:08and there indeed,
01:03:09is the final whistle.
01:03:11Celtic with the victory.
01:03:14The three goals to one,
01:03:16a Dyson Maeda wonder goal,
01:03:18and Celtic have the three points,
01:03:21they are closing down on the league leaders.
01:03:25And what a performance in the end,
01:03:28what a victory,
01:03:29Celtic had to come from behind,
01:03:31which they did,
01:03:32Yang equalised in the first half,
01:03:34but the second half,
01:03:35Dyson Maeda,
01:03:37he got us in front,
01:03:38Peter,
01:03:39for that second goal of his,
01:03:41Celtic's third goal.
01:03:43Incredible,
01:03:43just incredible.
01:03:45You know,
01:03:46it's incredible actually,
01:03:47because we see the chances he misses,
01:03:49we've seen him,
01:03:50he should have finished that,
01:03:51he should have finished that,
01:03:53but his overhead kick is just wonderful,
01:03:55because I just thought the ball was dropped over the net,
01:03:57but there's only one thing he could do,
01:03:58and he couldn't have placed it any better,
01:03:59as I said earlier,
01:04:00with his hands.
01:04:01So great credit to him.
01:04:03I thought,
01:04:03we've got to give the likes of the guys that come on again,
01:04:05likes of Tinecte,
01:04:06because he's got the best 45 minutes for a long while as well.
01:04:10You know,
01:04:10and listen,
01:04:11Alistair Johnson just coming back from injury,
01:04:14fantastic performance,
01:04:15but listen,
01:04:16as a team,
01:04:16it's going to take the team to win the league.
01:04:19So now you're going to a very,
01:04:20very difficult game in Malibu.
01:04:22Now you've got to rest up now,
01:04:24you have to go again,
01:04:24and that's what you've got to do,
01:04:26Paul,
01:04:26you've won this one,
01:04:27and it's brilliant to win this one,
01:04:29but now it's about the next one,
01:04:30and that's what you've got to do for us.
01:04:32I mean,
01:04:33Dyson Maeda,
01:04:34he's an incredible run of form,
01:04:35six goals in his last four games,
01:04:38he's been such a vital player.
01:04:39It's not just his goals,
01:04:40of course,
01:04:40it's his work rate,
01:04:41it's everything about him,
01:04:42but,
01:04:44you know,
01:04:45the goal,
01:04:46there are no words to describe it,
01:04:48I think we said wow at the time,
01:04:49and that's it.
01:04:50No,
01:04:51but it's,
01:04:52it shows you more of his mental toughness,
01:04:53more than anything else,
01:04:54forget about a nail,
01:04:56because if you're a striker,
01:04:57and you're going through and missing simple,
01:04:58what we'd call simple chances for a striker.
01:05:01But,
01:05:02then,
01:05:02to pull that out of the heart,
01:05:04it's quite incredible,
01:05:05you know,
01:05:05and it's fantastic for them,
01:05:07delighted for them,
01:05:08delighted for the players,
01:05:09they've battled and battled,
01:05:10they've got themselves in a fantastic position now,
01:05:13they know they've got another one before,
01:05:14perhaps as more important as the Morwell game,
01:05:16and we know what happened the last time at First Park,
01:05:18and I'm sure the manager will be very,
01:05:20very well prepared for that.
01:05:22Listen,
01:05:23it's the mentality of the team that,
01:05:25you know,
01:05:25we heard Callum McGregor speaking before the game,
01:05:28it's about,
01:05:29you know,
01:05:29everything that's going on this season,
01:05:30this team's had to dig in,
01:05:32it's had to show great spirit,
01:05:33it's hung in there,
01:05:33and now,
01:05:35we know it's,
01:05:36it's in our hands after this weekend,
01:05:38it's not going to be easy,
01:05:39but we know,
01:05:40we won our next two games,
01:05:42we are the champions.
01:05:43But I think that's,
01:05:44the most important thing,
01:05:46that you,
01:05:47concentrate on what you can do,
01:05:49these boys,
01:05:50if you dig in,
01:05:51because they've not played at their best,
01:05:52we've saved that for many,
01:05:53many months,
01:05:54but what they've done is,
01:05:55they've found a way to win games,
01:05:57they've found a way to dig in,
01:05:59but it's went against them,
01:06:00they've bounced back a little bit,
01:06:02you know,
01:06:02and we've never dominated games,
01:06:03but this,
01:06:04today,
01:06:05listen,
01:06:06we've got to give the support,
01:06:07the way they started the game,
01:06:08and the players fed off that,
01:06:10and that was so,
01:06:11so important at the start of the game,
01:06:12and then the game goes against them,
01:06:14but they've bounced again,
01:06:15which is massive,
01:06:16and that takes guts and character,
01:06:18and that's what's going to win them the league.
01:06:20Incredible afternoon at Paradise,
01:06:22an incredible goal,
01:06:24three incredible points,
01:06:27and as we hand back down trackside,
01:06:30to Gerry and Simon,
01:06:31a jubilant Paradise celebrates,
01:06:34Celtic three,
01:06:35Rangers one.
01:06:37What an afternoon here,
01:06:39in the sunshine at Paradise,
01:06:41this is an afternoon,
01:06:43that you will not forget for a while,
01:06:45as a Celtic supporter,
01:06:47and it is an afternoon,
01:06:48that man there,
01:06:49Dyson Maeda,
01:06:50will never,
01:06:51ever forget,
01:06:52what a second half,
01:06:53from our man from Japan,
01:06:55he's taken the adulation,
01:06:57of the Celtic supporters,
01:06:59and well he might,
01:07:00those were two finishes,
01:07:02out of the top drawer,
01:07:03from Dyson Maeda,
01:07:05to give Celtic,
01:07:06the victory,
01:07:07in the Glasgow Derby,
01:07:08Simon Donnelly,
01:07:10we were nervous,
01:07:11every Celtic fan in here,
01:07:12was nervous,
01:07:13it takes cool heads,
01:07:14and that man there,
01:07:15provided the coolest of finishes.
01:07:18Unbelievable Gerry.
01:07:19Unbelievable,
01:07:20both finishes,
01:07:21his first one,
01:07:22a lovely move,
01:07:22Kieran Tierney,
01:07:24put it across,
01:07:25he got in front of the Rangers defender,
01:07:26to finish it,
01:07:27but the overhead kick,
01:07:29wow,
01:07:30it seemed to take an eternity,
01:07:32to drop in at the back post,
01:07:33but what a finish,
01:07:35and what a result for Celtic.
01:07:49the players will celebrate,
01:07:51and well they might,
01:07:52but the job isn't done yet,
01:07:53we don't need to tell them that,
01:07:55the supporters,
01:07:56played their part this afternoon,
01:07:58but that is the,
01:07:59the first part of our,
01:08:01a final season,
01:08:02trilogy,
01:08:04in the bag,
01:08:05two more games to come,
01:08:07and we know now Simon,
01:08:08two more victories,
01:08:09against Motherwell and Hearts,
01:08:11and the title,
01:08:12will be Celtics,
01:08:13and if they needed any sort of motivation,
01:08:15or any result,
01:08:16to give them belief,
01:08:17that they can do it,
01:08:19this has done that.
01:08:20Yeah absolutely,
01:08:21I just watched the skipper there,
01:08:22as they were doing their lap,
01:08:24and they were sending the fans,
01:08:25two more to go,
01:08:26two games to go this week,
01:08:28two massive games,
01:08:29but as Gary said there in commentary,
01:08:31they've put themselves in a position here,
01:08:33where it's in their own hands,
01:08:34go and win the two games,
01:08:35and take the title.
01:08:37Yeah,
01:08:38the players showed character,
01:08:39they showed belief,
01:08:41and they showed skill as well,
01:08:42this afternoon,
01:08:43Dyson Maeda,
01:08:44yes,
01:08:44will grab the headlines,
01:08:46and absolutely,
01:08:47he should,
01:08:47but there were some monumental,
01:08:49performances on that pitch,
01:08:51this afternoon,
01:08:51Kieran Tierney,
01:08:53outstanding,
01:08:53Armut Engels,
01:08:54outstanding,
01:08:55Callum McGregor,
01:08:56a Celtic captain,
01:08:57this afternoon,
01:08:58leading by example,
01:08:59as so often,
01:09:00he does in these big occasions,
01:09:03and Martin O'Neill,
01:09:04what can you say about,
01:09:05about the manager,
01:09:06he has got the magic touch,
01:09:08hasn't he?
01:09:08He certainly has,
01:09:09he certainly has,
01:09:10we said at the start of the show,
01:09:11the experience,
01:09:12will become,
01:09:14so important,
01:09:15with Sean Maloney as well,
01:09:16and his coaching staff,
01:09:17but I think,
01:09:18the senior players,
01:09:19stepped up today as well,
01:09:20they showed why they're winners,
01:09:22the skipper,
01:09:22leading by example,
01:09:23Kieran Tierney,
01:09:24another fine performance,
01:09:25and Baeda,
01:09:26who's came to this club,
01:09:27he's been phenomenal,
01:09:29and mate,
01:09:29we have a little go at him,
01:09:30in the first half,
01:09:30with the chance he had,
01:09:31and then he takes the two,
01:09:33the first one's very hard,
01:09:34it's a tricky finish for him,
01:09:36and the,
01:09:37the overhead kick,
01:09:38they'll be,
01:09:38they'll be talking about that,
01:09:39for years.
01:09:40Yeah,
01:09:41they will be talking about that,
01:09:42for years,
01:09:43were you here,
01:09:44when Dyson Maeda,
01:09:45scored the overhead kick,
01:09:47in the derby game,
01:09:48for the,
01:09:48for the statos amongst you,
01:09:50this is how the game,
01:09:51panned out in the end,
01:09:52it was of course,
01:09:523-1,
01:09:53back to Celtic,
01:09:54and in terms of possession,
01:09:56Simon,
01:09:56you can see there,
01:09:57it was a real game,
01:09:58of fine margins.
01:10:00Yeah,
01:10:00it is,
01:10:01but I mean,
01:10:01the top,
01:10:01the top stats,
01:10:02the most important,
01:10:04I think,
01:10:04Rangers tried to use their physicality,
01:10:06and you look at the corner,
01:10:07count there for Rangers,
01:10:09six yellow cards for Celtic as well,
01:10:11but the most important stats,
01:10:12the 3-1,
01:10:12I thought in the second half,
01:10:14they came out,
01:10:15and they kind of,
01:10:16watched the first 15 minutes,
01:10:18they put the game to Rangers,
01:10:19they knew the importance,
01:10:20of trying to win the game,
01:10:21and they got the two goals,
01:10:23after that,
01:10:23it was comfortable,
01:10:25you're looking at that clock,
01:10:26once it ticked down,
01:10:27a wee bit quicker than it was,
01:10:28but it's such a,
01:10:30a huge result for Celtic,
01:10:31as I say,
01:10:32it puts it firmly in our hands,
01:10:34going to third party Wednesday night.
01:10:38Yeah,
01:10:38Motherwell away on Wednesday night,
01:10:41the next match,
01:10:42and then of course,
01:10:43it starts here,
01:10:44next Saturday,
01:10:46for the last game of the season,
01:10:48in order to make it count,
01:10:49we need to get something,
01:10:50against Motherwell,
01:10:51in midweek,
01:10:52hopefully a win,
01:10:53would keep that momentum going,
01:10:56an absolutely incredible,
01:10:57wonderful,
01:10:58afternoon here,
01:10:59at Celtic Park,
01:11:01and we're going to hear,
01:11:01from the players shortly,
01:11:03we're going to hear from,
01:11:04Celtic manager,
01:11:05Martin O'Neill,
01:11:06we're going to take a look back,
01:11:07and all the best,
01:11:08of the action,
01:11:09and Simon,
01:11:10a word on the atmosphere,
01:11:11in here,
01:11:12first of all,
01:11:13yeah,
01:11:13there were close to,
01:11:14two and a half thousand,
01:11:15Rangers fans in here,
01:11:16we couldn't hear them,
01:11:17at all,
01:11:17I know the players,
01:11:18helped that,
01:11:19when they score the goals,
01:11:20that they did today,
01:11:21but the support,
01:11:22this afternoon,
01:11:22was unbelievable.
01:11:23It was,
01:11:24and it was emotional as well,
01:11:25Jerry,
01:11:25but I still,
01:11:26I feel that comes with,
01:11:28the way the title race,
01:11:29we've been hanging on,
01:11:30Hart's coattails,
01:11:31for as long as I can remember,
01:11:33we've been chasing,
01:11:34it's very unlike Celtic,
01:11:35they're usually,
01:11:35leading the pack,
01:11:37we've been chasing Hart's,
01:11:38most of the season,
01:11:39it was a three horse race,
01:11:40it's down to a two horse race,
01:11:42you can tell the emotions,
01:11:43were high in here,
01:11:44this afternoon,
01:11:45and the fans responded,
01:11:46the players responded,
01:11:47to the fans,
01:11:48and it's another,
01:11:49memorable afternoon,
01:11:50at Celtic Park,
01:11:51it really is.
01:11:52Celtic have,
01:11:53had games this season,
01:11:55they've been ups and downs,
01:11:56the belief sometimes,
01:11:57it's looked as if,
01:11:58it's maybe not,
01:11:59been there as we've seen,
01:12:00in previous seasons,
01:12:01what the players have shown,
01:12:03these last couple of games though,
01:12:04will surely,
01:12:06give them that confidence,
01:12:07and give them that belief,
01:12:08and remind them,
01:12:09that they are the champions.
01:12:11I,
01:12:11I agree with you,
01:12:12completely,
01:12:13I think,
01:12:13you have to take your hat off,
01:12:15to this group of players,
01:12:16because,
01:12:16what they've been through,
01:12:17this season,
01:12:18as I say,
01:12:18if you count Martin twice,
01:12:19it's four managers,
01:12:20in one season,
01:12:21it's unheard of,
01:12:22there's been ups and downs,
01:12:23we've left this park,
01:12:24at times,
01:12:25with Hibs,
01:12:26the disappointment,
01:12:27you're thinking,
01:12:27the United,
01:12:28the Tanadise,
01:12:29has the chance went,
01:12:31and they keep fighting back,
01:12:32they keep coming back,
01:12:33and showing why,
01:12:34they are the champions,
01:12:35and they've put themselves,
01:12:36in a really strong position now,
01:12:37with two games to go,
01:12:38there are going to be,
01:12:39two difficult games,
01:12:40Motherlote 4th Park,
01:12:41will be a difficult one,
01:12:41on Wednesday night,
01:12:42but they just keep ticking them off,
01:12:43one by one,
01:12:44through Teaster Road,
01:12:45last week,
01:12:46took care of business,
01:12:47and today,
01:12:47they blew the Rangers away,
01:12:49in their first 15 minutes,
01:12:50of that second half,
01:12:51to get the all important,
01:12:52three points,
01:12:52and it's in Celtic's hands.
01:12:54Yeah, it's guaranteed Rangers,
01:12:55third place finish,
01:12:57in the league,
01:12:57it's guaranteed,
01:12:58Celtic Champions League,
01:13:00qualification,
01:13:01whether they get it,
01:13:02through second place,
01:13:02or first place,
01:13:03is still to come,
01:13:04but that is a,
01:13:05a good achievement,
01:13:06nonetheless,
01:13:07at this stage,
01:13:07let's take a look back,
01:13:08at the Celtic goals,
01:13:09then of course,
01:13:10Celtic,
01:13:10went a goal down,
01:13:11early on,
01:13:12Mikey Moore,
01:13:12scoring that early goal,
01:13:14for Rangers,
01:13:14and we needed a spark,
01:13:16and it was provided,
01:13:16with this wonderful pass,
01:13:17from Luke McCown,
01:13:18yeah,
01:13:19we touched on it,
01:13:19Luke had a difficult start,
01:13:20to the game,
01:13:21but he pricks out,
01:13:22Engels brilliantly,
01:13:23with that pass,
01:13:25you know,
01:13:25he spots the run,
01:13:26from Engels,
01:13:27and he threads this one,
01:13:28through her,
01:13:29the legs of players,
01:13:30Engels cuts it back,
01:13:31and Yang,
01:13:32to a fine finish,
01:13:33Rangers are looking,
01:13:34at the two Celtic players,
01:13:36in offside positions,
01:13:37but I don't think,
01:13:37they affect the goal,
01:13:38at all,
01:13:38it was an important,
01:13:39period of the game,
01:13:4110 minutes or so,
01:13:41after going behind,
01:13:43and it's a well worked goal,
01:13:44to get us,
01:13:44back into the game,
01:13:47and the way Celtic,
01:13:48set out,
01:13:49that you know,
01:13:49the players that we have,
01:13:50in the squad,
01:13:51the fact that we are,
01:13:52you know,
01:13:53physically weaker,
01:13:54than Rangers at the back,
01:13:55you know,
01:13:56we can't play high balls,
01:13:57into the box,
01:13:57like Rangers do,
01:13:58you know,
01:13:59we have to find,
01:13:59a way through,
01:14:00and that exemplified,
01:14:01exactly how to do that.
01:14:02It was a great move,
01:14:03it was the best move,
01:14:04in the first half,
01:14:05as I say,
01:14:05it starts with Luke McCown,
01:14:06who,
01:14:07had found a wee bit difficult,
01:14:08to find his way,
01:14:09into the game,
01:14:09the first 20 or so minutes,
01:14:11but he picks out Engles,
01:14:12with a great ball in,
01:14:14same as,
01:14:14the way he was using,
01:14:15the ball at Eastern Road,
01:14:16last week,
01:14:16I think that's what got him,
01:14:17his starting,
01:14:18chance today,
01:14:19Engles cuts it back,
01:14:21and as you say,
01:14:22you have to pick somebody out,
01:14:23rather than just throw it in,
01:14:24hopefully,
01:14:25he picks out Yang,
01:14:25it's a great finish,
01:14:26I thought Yang was excellent,
01:14:27today as well,
01:14:29ran himself into the ground,
01:14:30as,
01:14:32every player did,
01:14:33and,
01:14:33you know,
01:14:33at that stage of the game,
01:14:34it was so important,
01:14:35to get back into it,
01:14:36because,
01:14:36after the start we'd had,
01:14:38with the energy,
01:14:39Rangers goal,
01:14:40took the life out of it,
01:14:41a wee bit,
01:14:41it was important,
01:14:41to get back into the game,
01:14:42quite quickly.
01:14:43Yeah,
01:14:44absolutely,
01:14:44and then into the second half,
01:14:46and we've been fairly critical,
01:14:47of Celtic this season,
01:14:48in terms of how they've started,
01:14:49second half,
01:14:49and played that first,
01:14:50kind of 15,
01:14:5120 minutes of the second half,
01:14:53well,
01:14:53Dyson Maeda,
01:14:54decided that he was just,
01:14:55going to blow Rangers away,
01:14:57credit to Kieran Tierney,
01:14:58for the assist here,
01:14:59but you were talking,
01:15:00about the finish,
01:15:00I thought the finish was great,
01:15:02but Tierney takes off,
01:15:03he makes,
01:15:04scales his mind up,
01:15:05it holds up,
01:15:05and he brings it in here,
01:15:06but look at the way he gets across,
01:15:07the front of the defender there,
01:15:08and he's still got to find,
01:15:10the back of the net with that,
01:15:10on his left foot,
01:15:12his movements great,
01:15:12Tierney just takes,
01:15:13the initiative,
01:15:14arm off and,
01:15:15put it into,
01:15:16the space in front of me,
01:15:18hooks it into an area,
01:15:19and Dyson's brilliant,
01:15:20it's a really,
01:15:20it's a really tricky finish,
01:15:22he's made it look a lot easier,
01:15:23than it was.
01:15:24Yeah, he's had to cushion that ball,
01:15:25hasn't he?
01:15:26Yeah, yeah,
01:15:26fine finish,
01:15:28but, again,
01:15:29a sign of Dyson,
01:15:30he never stops,
01:15:31he's running all day,
01:15:31this one,
01:15:32it's a good bit of movement,
01:15:33to get across his marker,
01:15:34and directs it into the far post,
01:15:36and that's the important one,
01:15:37that gave everybody,
01:15:38in the stadium a lift,
01:15:39and they built on that,
01:15:40for the next one,
01:15:40which,
01:15:41I'll not be tired of,
01:15:42of watching.
01:15:43Yeah, I mean,
01:15:44I don't know how many replays,
01:15:45we've got of the next Dyson goal,
01:15:46let's hope it's about seven or eight,
01:15:48because it really was,
01:15:49a thing of absolute beauty,
01:15:51we're sitting up there,
01:15:52and we're going,
01:15:53get another one,
01:15:54another one,
01:15:54you want a bit of a two goal cushion,
01:15:56and goodness me,
01:15:57we could not believe,
01:15:58what we were watching.
01:15:59No, Tonechi does well here,
01:16:01we get the break of the ball,
01:16:02and we're right behind it,
01:16:03in the stand,
01:16:04as I say,
01:16:04it took an eternity,
01:16:05to drop into that back post,
01:16:07but,
01:16:07it's a moment of inspiration,
01:16:09I remember one of my team mates,
01:16:10Henrik Larsson,
01:16:11scoring a fine goal against Rangers,
01:16:13in that very goal,
01:16:14and this one is up there,
01:16:15you know,
01:16:16he's just decided,
01:16:18and I don't know where the goal is,
01:16:19bicycle kick,
01:16:21oh,
01:16:21what a finish,
01:16:22what a finish.
01:16:23The camera's cutting to Lupo Mirmar,
01:16:25I've checked in the main stand,
01:16:27watching it,
01:16:27he'd have been proud of a finish like that.
01:16:28Oh, absolutely,
01:16:29and as I say,
01:16:30we were critical of him in the first half,
01:16:32the easier chance was probably the one in the first half,
01:16:34when he didn't hit the target,
01:16:36there's the manager,
01:16:38Fozzie,
01:16:38they can't quite believe it,
01:16:39but,
01:16:39that was the one that gave us the two goal lead,
01:16:41that gave us a little bit of comfort,
01:16:42but,
01:16:42and see with the goal difference as well,
01:16:44Gerry,
01:16:44it's all important to me,
01:16:46we get that as well for that.
01:16:47Yeah,
01:16:48the goal difference,
01:16:49hopefully it won't come down to that,
01:16:50that with a win against Motherwell,
01:16:52it puts the goal difference,
01:16:53it just brings it back in a little bit,
01:16:54yeah,
01:16:55to hearts as we gained another one,
01:16:57there,
01:16:57Dyson Maeda,
01:16:58clearly,
01:16:59delighted with him,
01:17:00you could even see by the look on his face,
01:17:02I don't think you could quite believe what he had done.
01:17:03And the players,
01:17:04his teammates were smothered on there in the celebration,
01:17:07but it was a reward for his hard work,
01:17:09I mean,
01:17:09how many times have we watched him,
01:17:12selflessly go and close the back four down,
01:17:14or the goalkeeper down,
01:17:15he's got his goals against St Myrne by doing that,
01:17:17he's scored against Rangers by doing that,
01:17:19he works so hard for the team,
01:17:20he's such a good team player,
01:17:22so he gets the rewards every two goals.
01:17:26Look at that,
01:17:27that's what you call,
01:17:28a super slow-mo,
01:17:30nothing the Rangers goalkeeper could have done,
01:17:32but stand and watch and admire,
01:17:35the genius of Dyson Maeda.
01:17:38That's a great reaction there,
01:17:40you know,
01:17:41the woman with the hand over her mouth,
01:17:43that was like us watching it,
01:17:44I don't think anybody could quite believe,
01:17:46what they had just witnessed,
01:17:483-1 to Celtic then,
01:17:50this afternoon,
01:17:51that means that Celtic are just a point behind Hearts,
01:17:55going into the final set of two fixtures of the season,
01:18:01there's the table there,
01:18:02Hearts top on 77,
01:18:04Celtic on 76,
01:18:05Rangers out of it now,
01:18:08as far as the league title destination goes,
01:18:11and Champions League qualification as well,
01:18:14is out of Rangers' grasp,
01:18:16it will be either Celtic or Hearts who are the champions,
01:18:22and it could come here next Saturday,
01:18:24Simon,
01:18:24in fact it's looking more and more likely,
01:18:26that next Saturday could be a winner-takes-all here at Celtic Park,
01:18:31and you know,
01:18:32earlier on,
01:18:33a few weeks ago,
01:18:34Derek McInnes,
01:18:35the Hearts manager,
01:18:36was asked about the prospect of coming here at the end of the season,
01:18:40and having to get a result against Celtic,
01:18:43and I think it was when the fixtures were announced,
01:18:44and the fact that they were having to come to Celtic Park,
01:18:46and he said then,
01:18:48listen,
01:18:48if it comes down to it,
01:18:50then we have to get a result in the final day against Celtic,
01:18:52he said,
01:18:52I don't care where we play them,
01:18:54I would play them anywhere.
01:18:56Well,
01:18:56I think with the atmosphere here this afternoon,
01:18:58which will only be replicated next week,
01:19:02then it's going to take something amazing to beat Celtic.
01:19:06We're going to go into the tunnel now,
01:19:08I believe we can hear from Celtic captain,
01:19:10Callum McGregor.
01:19:13Callum,
01:19:13it's a huge three points,
01:19:14can I have your summation of the events this afternoon?
01:19:18Yeah, outstanding.
01:19:19The way the boys worked and ran for each other,
01:19:21and then the moments of quality,
01:19:23obviously,
01:19:23we'll speak to this guy in a minute,
01:19:24but really good goals,
01:19:26everything we work on,
01:19:27and then obviously his is a special moment in itself,
01:19:30but when you get the game to that level and that intensity,
01:19:33then it's hard for teams to live with that.
01:19:35Is the captain how impressed,
01:19:36are you with the response to losing an early goal?
01:19:39Yeah, excellent.
01:19:40Listen,
01:19:40we knew the game was going to be tight,
01:19:42it was going to be edgy.
01:19:43We actually started the game well,
01:19:44get hit with a sucker punch on counter-attack,
01:19:47and then you've got to be sure that you're locking the game out properly.
01:19:50But I thought the response to that was excellent.
01:19:51We stayed calm.
01:19:52Anytime we put six, seven passes together,
01:19:54we were in control of the game,
01:19:56and we scored that really good time to regain control,
01:19:58and probably since then we never really looked back in the game.
01:20:01And Dyson,
01:20:02how pleased are you with your contribution this afternoon,
01:20:05and having scored such a spectacular goal?
01:20:07What did you think of this goal today?
01:20:12What did you think of the goal today?
01:20:14How did you think of the support of the goal today?
01:20:17What did you think of the goal today?
01:20:18The otras team is very hard to work,
01:20:20and we thank the team.
01:20:22In the second two, I felt that my body was moving.
01:20:52followed for another huge task in midweek.
01:20:54Yeah, yeah, listen, it's only a step, you know.
01:20:56We don't want to get too carried away, obviously.
01:20:58The big derby games, you want to win, you feel great.
01:21:01The supporters will feel great tonight.
01:21:02So, obviously, enjoy that as well.
01:21:04But, listen, we're under no impression it's only a good result
01:21:06if you back it up on Wednesday night
01:21:07and then you back it up again next Saturday.
01:21:09So, full focus goes on recovery to now Wednesday night.
01:21:13And we have to produce a similar performance.
01:21:16And then, hopefully, that will set us up for the weekend.
01:21:18Well, on behalf of all those fans, well done today.
01:21:20Thanks. Cheers.
01:21:22Thanks very much, Carl.
01:21:23Yeah, to think, Simon, it was only a few days ago
01:21:26when Dyson Maeda limped off the pitch.
01:21:29We wondered whether he was going to play this afternoon.
01:21:31And look at this.
01:21:32That is the goal that everyone will be talking about.
01:21:36Might not have turned out to be the winner
01:21:38because he got one before that as well.
01:21:40But that second half was all about Dyson Maeda.
01:21:44Yeah, I'm just watching the back here
01:21:45and I'm just looking, I think it's Engels at the edge of the box.
01:21:49He's had his hands in disbelief.
01:21:51At the finish, he's right behind it there.
01:21:53Just in the background, I think he puts his hands on his head.
01:21:56Yeah, he can't quite believe.
01:21:57He can't believe what he's just watched.
01:21:59But it's very humble of Dyson just to say he just got his body into position there.
01:22:04I think there's a wee bit more to it, but opportunism, inspiration and a fine, fine finish.
01:22:10Do you know the irony is that I think the league has already announced their goal of the season
01:22:14and I think it was an overhead kick for Rangers against Celtic by Cermite.
01:22:19I think that one beats it quite significantly.
01:22:22So I think if they had the goal of the season actually at the end of the season,
01:22:26which would seem a bit more of a sensible thing to do,
01:22:29then I think Dyson Maeda might win that.
01:22:31We did see a couple of games ago, Simon, when Dyson Maeda,
01:22:34it was after the split when Dyson Maeda came back
01:22:37and had a really great performance here against Falkirk.
01:22:39We thought, listen, if Dyson Maeda's back to scoring form,
01:22:42this could really turn the fortunes of Celtic.
01:22:46So far, that's what it's proven to be.
01:22:48I'll get your thoughts on that in just a second
01:22:50because the Celtic manager, Martin O'Neill, is standing by with John.
01:22:54Martin, can I have your reaction to this afternoon's match?
01:22:57Absolutely delighted.
01:22:58Delighted with the team.
01:22:59Delighted with the way we fought back.
01:23:01Conceded the goal under a bit of pressure
01:23:04and it was just a wonderful display by the team.
01:23:09Second half, really got after them and deserved to win.
01:23:14At the beginning, you could have forgiven them
01:23:16for maybe losing their shape a little bit
01:23:19when they lost the goal.
01:23:20It could disturb things.
01:23:21But they did fight their way back into the game
01:23:23and it was a fantastic equaliser and so well worked.
01:23:25Yeah.
01:23:26Well, I mean, for instance, last week,
01:23:28Rangers outplayed Hearts in the first half of the end
01:23:31and then Hearts came roaring back into the game.
01:23:35And I felt as if we were capable of fighting back in the game
01:23:39because the side has shown plenty of resilience.
01:23:42Now, of course, like anything else, things can change.
01:23:44As you say, it was a brilliantly worked goal.
01:23:46We get it.
01:23:48And I'm just delighted to have won.
01:23:50Delighted to have won the game against a very strong opposition.
01:23:53It can be unfair to single out individuals,
01:23:55but I think Tyson Maeda deserves at least some mention
01:23:58for what might have been a goal of the season contender
01:24:01than any other season.
01:24:01Some mention he was magnificent, absolutely magnificent
01:24:04from start to finish in the game.
01:24:06First of all, the negative part of the game,
01:24:08closing players down.
01:24:10He's terrific at that there.
01:24:11I don't know where he finds the energy from,
01:24:12but then his display, you know, magnificent.
01:24:15He never gave the Rangers' defence a moment to settle today.
01:24:20And the goal, as you mentioned, his goal,
01:24:24actually, I was delighted at the one that he scored before,
01:24:26but just magnificent, magnificent player.
01:24:29You would have anticipated that Rangers would be delivering balls
01:24:33into the box on a regular basis.
01:24:35How pleased are you with how tall your defensive line stood up to them?
01:24:38Yeah, we stood up.
01:24:40You're absolutely right, John.
01:24:42It was one of those where they are very, very strong at set pieces.
01:24:46Very strong indeed.
01:24:47And we had to just, we had to keep battling in there, you know,
01:24:51getting a header out, maybe getting the second ball,
01:24:54clearing our lines, things like that there.
01:24:56But that's important.
01:24:57It's part of the game.
01:24:58It's the nasty part of the game, but it is the game.
01:25:01You have to do it.
01:25:02And with a result like that,
01:25:03will you now have a dressing room that's raring to go
01:25:06for another huge game in midweek?
01:25:08Of course, the game now, the Motherwell game,
01:25:10becomes absolutely immense for us now.
01:25:12It was great to win.
01:25:13It keeps us going.
01:25:14That's the point.
01:25:15It keeps us in, gives us a chance.
01:25:17And that's all you can ask for.
01:25:19But that's what we've been doing for months and months.
01:25:21Congratulations to them.
01:25:22Thank you, John.
01:25:23Yeah, it's interesting there.
01:25:25Simon, you know, you and I are jumping around celebrating.
01:25:27The supporters here are jumping around celebrating.
01:25:30But interesting, the demeanour of the captain and the manager there.
01:25:33They know the bigger picture.
01:25:35And their immediate reaction is to say,
01:25:36it's just another step.
01:25:37Keeps us in it.
01:25:38They're not getting carried away.
01:25:40Yeah, that comes with experience.
01:25:41They've been over the course many a time before.
