00:27It didn't need to describe what a stormy night is like for a whole paragraph.
00:34It starts with Sonic and his friends in the dark with their eyes wide while watching a scary movie.
00:40So they're having a relatable moment.
00:42Sonic Boo meant Sonic watching TV a lot, so I can't remember for sure if Sonic watching a scary movie is new to me.
00:50Sonic stomps Sally from squealing by stuffing tortilla chips into her mouth.
00:54That's a little rude, but it ended up being nice, and it's pragmatic of him since she lets him get away with it.
01:02Pawful isn't a word I want used, though.
01:05The actor has some ridiculous dialogue, and it turns out that wasn't really what he said, and it was just a joke.
01:12Why did the writer want to make a joke that the special effects department is useless?
01:18The story wastes time with her stating the obvious along with Tails and recapping who Tails is.
01:26Joe Sushi teases Tails trying to scare him and eat some fish pizza.
01:31Sonic gets annoyed by his friends talking through the movie, which makes him look stupid for being surprised at this.
01:37This must have been the first time they watched a movie together.
01:42Johnny hates seeing a lot of blood in the movie.
01:46I just realized how wild it is that the writer was able to get away with writing that in a Sonic story.
01:52And Sonic thinks of Johnny as a wimp, instead of a hero like him being compassionate.
01:58So that's wrong.
01:59He mocks him because he should have known he'd see that in a movie with the vampire.
02:05So really, the right response is, why watch the movie at all, then?
02:09There's more padding as they get scared again.
02:13Sally says she doesn't want to watch the movie anymore, which is smart.
02:17And there's more padding.
02:19Porker says he's going home, which is smart of him.
02:22There's more padding after this that at least reveals that he's a knowledgeable bookworm.
02:26The padding also reveals that they're in Sally's cottage, but her parents are nowhere in sight and aren't being described as making noise even late at night.
02:37They must be in bed.
02:39It's nice to Sally to ask her friends if they'd like to stay for the night.
02:43And they agree.
02:45It's revealed that Sonic likes chips and marshmallows.
02:49So the UK calls them chips instead of crisps when they have the word potato before them.
02:54Joe decides to go home because walruses love wet weather and splashes happily in pools of rainwater.
03:02I wish this was mentioned for Rotor because it gives him more character.
03:06Sonic and his friends go to sleep in the armchairs of all things.
03:10The writer thought enough to realize that going to sleep wouldn't be easy during a storm.
03:16There's a knock at the door, so Sonic opens it.
03:18Somehow, he can barely see a huge sinister form in the doorway with fangs that reaches down as if to grab him.
03:27And Joe says Porker was made a vampire even though Joe went home.
03:32But then it goes to the next night.
03:34So I just have to assume Porker was only in a Halloween costume.
03:39I feel like that entire scene was a waste of time.
03:41So is the narration describing how much stormier it is on another night.
03:47Why did it describe some people as having white sticks?
03:51It must be a pretty magical world if there can be raindrops the size of watermelons.
03:56A cloaked figure takes a walk in Green Hill Zone having stalked his target carefully and has a smirk.
04:02I assume he's Eggman because it'd actually be Everett if he was a new villain that wasn't even connected to him.
04:10There's more padding until he opens the door to a house and it wastes more time describing the startled reactions of some squirrel people
04:18until it reveals there's egg white on the waistcoat and the cloaked figure is spherical.
04:24So he is Eggman.
04:26And he tells someone he somehow knows the name of that he's going with him, calling him Kevin.
04:31Why does he even bother using it instead of he when it's so obvious it's Eggman?
04:37The story doesn't describe Eggman as having a robot with him.
04:41So I have to assume what's behind him and that these people assume that.
04:46Otherwise they would have just closed and locked the door and he'd never take him.
04:50Because they'd call Sonic right away.
04:53Then Sonic and Joe have to carry an unconscious Porker back to Sally's house
04:58and put a pillow under his head and notice fang marks on his neck.
05:02It was gutsy to write this.
05:04It'd be more gutsy if it was an actual vampire so I'm guessing it's going to be a robot instead.
05:10Tails rushes to get a hammer and a steak that was somehow in the kitchen
05:14and he tries to convince Sonic that while it's terrible they might have to use it.
05:19But Sonic tells him to relax and calls him Little Buddy and tells him he's breathing
05:23so he just wants a bucket of ice from him with no explanation.
05:28Tails complies and was also smart enough to bring garlic pizza.
05:33It wastes my time before Sonic puts ice cubes down Porker's shirt to wake him up right away.
05:38And there's more padding as it drags out Porker waking up and whining.
05:44Porker thinks he went to sleep here
05:46and reveals that he and his friends always thought Tails was a bit unstable.
05:50But this isn't explained as being because Tails used to be bullied.
05:55When someone reading this might not have read say Sonic.
05:59So why was this written at his expense?
06:02Tails' only reaction is he bristled.
06:05Since when does the kids' books say that?
06:09There's more padding and Sonic helps Porker up
06:11and thinks he has to maneuver him to the bathroom for some reason
06:14where he shows him the bite marks.
06:17I'm then forced to assume he was forced to eat the garlic pizza
06:20since it cuts ahead in time to Sally saying that he can eat garlic
06:24so he's not a vampire.
06:26Why did they have to outright put him in the bed in the spare room?
06:30How did he pass out right after choosing to swallow the pizza?
06:33Also, in context, it wouldn't make sense of him
06:36to then stay up watching TV until he falls asleep or be knocked out.
06:42But this is an interesting book so far
06:44whenever it's not wasting my time.
06:47Its pacing sucks, but its conflict is new.
06:50Tails says it doesn't happen instantly
06:52so he doesn't take the garlic eating as proof.
06:55Johnny also says Porker's always weedy.
06:58Another obscure word.
07:01Some time is wasted after this
07:02as everyone else but Tails keeps a level head
07:05by not jumping to believing a vampire did it.
07:09Sonic wonders if it was one of the monkey people pranking him.
07:13The next morning,
07:14Sonic doesn't want to go out and investigate
07:16without being peer pressured into it
07:18because he'd get his shoes muddy and wet
07:21which is justified by him being cocky in the games.
07:25Adds to him looking in the mirror
07:26to make sure his spines were neat.
07:28But it's just used for more padding.
07:32Sadly saying save is bacon
07:34is given a raised eyebrow
07:36even though bacon wouldn't be made
07:38from pig people here.
07:40Sonic and Tails eventually leave
07:42to start patrolling.
07:44There's dramatic irony created
07:46because the narration reveals
07:47that there's vampire bats
07:49when the heroes don't recognize them
07:51as vampires right away
07:52but are still suspicious of seeing any bats
07:55when they never see them around here.
07:58Sonic reveals that there's fruit bats
08:00and bananas in Emerald Hill.
08:02So trying to develop on the game settings is good.
08:06It wouldn't be as good
08:06if this development was done
08:08on a new place I have no attachment to.
08:11They start heading for a bat
08:12that moves stiffly
08:14with unnatural joints
08:15and a small jet engine under his wings.
08:18It's called a bat bot
08:20instead of a bat brain
08:22like the real bat bad mix.
08:23It could have easily been modified
08:25by Eggman for this purpose
08:26instead of the writer
08:27waving around a supposedly shiny new robot
08:30so he can say it made a new
08:32better idea than the games.
08:34But he would have still done that
08:36if he used bat brain for this.
08:38It isn't as logical in universe either
08:41which is the real reason this is bad.
08:44Why would Eggman go through the trouble
08:45of making a new bat robot
08:47and naming it
08:48when that's just admitting
08:50the old brand was inferior?
08:52To be fair he has done that in the games
08:54but only rarely.
08:56I learned from Stay Sonic
08:57that the B-robots in Sonic 2
09:00are buzzers.
09:01Which I wasn't happy about learning
09:03because I kept calling buzzers buzz bombers.
09:07Turns out I was just using
09:09the name of the B-robots
09:10from Sonic 1
09:11for both varieties.
09:14Why'd we assume
09:14then we'd have to look up a new name
09:16instead of assuming Eggman
09:17didn't waste the effort.
09:19Because Eggman wants to be feared
09:21it makes sense that after he failed
09:23in Sonic 1
09:23he'd get self-conscious
09:25about how goofy
09:26the faces of the buzz bombers were.
09:28So it's slightly in character
09:29of Eggman to make new bat robots here
09:32but it's still forced.
09:34There's nothing about the designs
09:35of the bat brains
09:36that would compel him
09:37to have new robots
09:38have a different look.
09:40Tails takes evasive action
09:41after seeing a badnik
09:43when they all die in one hit.
09:45And when you're spin-jumping
09:46towards them
09:47you're invincible.
09:48So that wasn't like him
09:50even if it's a vampire.
09:52Sonic defeats it
09:53by stomping it
09:54instead of fighting it
09:55the normal way.
09:57This might be the first time
09:58Sonic beat a robot
09:59by using the stomp.
10:01Tails wastes time
10:02saying crikey
10:03and asks what that was.
10:06That seems weird too.
10:08There's padding
10:09from their worthless
10:10talking to each other
10:11until Sonic selfishly
10:12tells Tails
10:13to search for robot parts
10:14that will stop

10:30having a scene to himself
10:32with a lot of pointless narration.
10:35At least it calls him brilliant.
10:37It says he's admiring
10:38his most recent badnik
10:40which is a hunchback
10:42called Eggor in Mark II
10:43with a squirrel inside.
10:46And this time
10:47he's sure
10:47that the total obedience circuits
10:49are going to work perfectly.
10:51If they do
10:52there will be no appeal
10:53to Eggor.
10:55Eggman had gone
10:55from considering
10:56killing Kevin
10:57to wanting to badnik
10:58ify him again
10:59to avoid wasting
11:00all that effort he put
11:01to teach him
11:02about his experiments.
11:04I don't like it
11:05saying he's scared of Sonic.
11:07It claims that
11:08the reason he's scared of him
11:09is not because
11:10he foils his plans
11:12but because he had
11:13helped him
11:13with his experiments
11:14when he was good
11:15so he knows too much.
11:18So it's because
11:18he assumed Sonic
11:19was smart enough
11:20to write down
11:20what he learned.
11:22All of that narration
11:23doesn't tell me
11:24how Eggor looks.
11:26It's skewed priorities.
11:28What's hard about
11:29saying he looks like
11:30a white squirrel?
11:32He asks if he remembers
11:33how to program
11:34the coordinates
11:35for the shapeshifter machine.
11:37Coordinates are
11:38a location.
11:40He must have meant
11:41to say code
11:42for the shapeshifter machine.
11:45There's padding
11:45after this
11:46that takes a while
11:47to get to actually
11:48recapping
11:49what the machine did.
11:51This recomp
11:52I can actually respect
11:53because it's far less likely
11:55that someone would have
11:56read a novel.
11:58Eggor does program it.
12:01This never would have
12:01happened if Kevin
12:02had moved far away.
12:05Having to put in
12:05more effort

12:22but was too absorbed
12:23in his fantasy

12:27but he's still loyal.
12:29That's why
12:29he told him that.
12:31So it doesn't matter
12:32because he's still obedient.
12:34Because he wasn't told
12:35not to say that.
12:37That's why the obedience
12:38program didn't prevent that.
12:40Because contradicting
12:41isn't disobedience.

12:53without disregarding

13:21into Eggor's head.

13:23he was made
13:24to forget
13:24his past.
13:26And the only reason
13:27he'd think about that
13:28is memories of it
13:29that nothing
13:29in the scene
13:30should be triggering.
13:32The scene's a blatant
13:33waste of time
13:34after this.
13:36Because it already
13:36told me
13:37Eggman wants to make
13:38movies
13:38but it just keeps
13:39having him
13:40discuss it.

13:42back to Sonic
13:43and recaps
13:44that Mickey
13:45talks weird
13:45when his dialogue

13:49that he's a real wizard
13:51with anything mechanical.

13:53wasn't told
13:54that Tails is.
13:56Instead we have

14:31some bats

14:38this is a lame joke.
14:40Somehow they don't
14:41recognize Sonic
14:42despite Sonic
14:43saying that he's
14:44world famous.
14:46The story starts
14:47wasting my time
14:48because Sonic's
14:48talking to these
14:49long-winded bats
14:50that take forever
14:52to give him
14:52the new information
14:53that there's a castle
14:54in Scrap Brain Zone.
14:56But he doesn't
14:57need to be told that.
14:59He was already
14:59planning to go there
15:01and he'd find out
15:01by just going there
15:03in seconds.
15:04He falls out
15:05of the tree
15:06and complains
15:06that he has to
15:07comb his spines again
15:08and Mickey
15:09laughs at him.
15:11Why was it so
15:12mean to Sonic?
15:13Thankfully it does
15:15get written to say
15:15that Sonic felt
15:16guilty about what
15:17he made Tails spend
15:18most of the day

15:21He didn't even

15:23doing would be
15:24valuable.
15:26Eventually Sonic
15:26gets jumped on
15:27by a heavy
15:28vampire bat
15:29and he can't move.
15:31But when he wishes

15:32the weight gets
15:33lifted from him
15:34and revealed to be
15:35Tails with robot
15:36parts tied to himself.
15:38With Roby
15:39somehow bound.
15:40I'm glad it was
15:41written to teach
15:42Sonic a lesson
15:43as he even says
15:44to him crossly.
15:46It's too bad
15:46Sonic gets back
15:47at him for a bit
15:48by lying that he
15:49would have used
15:49a move with an
15:50overly long name
15:51to kick him
15:51into orbit.
15:53Although someone
15:54who can move
15:54at the speed of
15:54sound should be
15:55able to do that
15:56anyways.
15:58And then Tails
15:58is scared and
15:59Sonic puts his
16:00hand on his
16:00shoulder calling him
16:01buddy and says
16:02not to think
16:03about it.
16:04And then Tails
16:05figures out that he
16:06doesn't have an
16:06attack called
16:07what he called
16:08it.
16:09Sonic just has
16:10to get ridden
16:10and say he
16:11doesn't have a
16:11brain sometimes.
16:13He's pretty out
16:14of character
16:14in this scene.
16:15And all because
16:16the Raider is
16:16never told how
16:17they're supposed
16:18to interact.
16:19I just don't
16:20see what's good
16:20about them having
16:21a bad friendship.
16:23At least they
16:24have a good
16:24laugh about it.
16:26Knowing he
16:26doesn't have an
16:27attack called
16:28that wouldn't
16:28cause them to
16:29not think he'd
16:30be able to
16:30kick him into
16:31orbit.
16:33Tails wastes
16:34my time until
16:34revealing to Sonic

16:37made by Eggman.

17:02and confusingly
17:03talks as if he
17:04has the logo.
