00:00Sonic Prime escaped from New York.
00:03Again, it does a flashback to Before the Prison Shatter for no reason.
00:08It constantly shows Sonic's friends complaining about Sonic's absence, not knowing that it was Shadow's fault.
00:14So I don't see the narrative purpose of this because it's not like Sonic's doing anything wrong.
00:20But it also doesn't mean Sonic's friends are bad friends or bad people because they have good reasons to have an issue with his absence based on what they know.
00:28Then it wastes my time until Nine takes control of Rusty to save Sonic.
00:35In retrospect, why didn't he take control of a lot more of Eggman's robots?
00:41The Chaos Council do some running around.
00:44And as my time's wasted, I think then all the time they ruled the world, they could have given themselves some cybernetic upgrades or airshoots like Shadow has so they could run faster.
00:53Rusty closes the doors so they're all safe.
00:57And Sonic hugs everyone here, which is wrong because these grumps don't appreciate it.
01:02It's out of character for him to hug someone other than Tails because it makes him look lame.
01:07You'd expect someone to hug someone he's been raising.
01:10You'd take it for granted that a good person would have hugged his kid before.
01:14Unless you're one of the people who was brainwashed into thinking dads should never hug their kids because they're men.
01:21I don't know why those people were able to stand a series whose whole theme is you should be pro-environmentalism.
01:27Just look at how evil Eggman is for being against it.
01:31The whole appeal of this character in the show is that he's cool, confident, and brave.
01:34But being willing to hug total strangers who aren't okay with that isn't cool.
01:40And doesn't even show him as a good person like any time he was a softie in the games.
01:45As Shaar contests.
01:47But the good things about this are self-explanatory.
01:50It'd be okay for Sonic to show a realistic amount of emotion like shedding tears or talking more loudly because something horrifying happened.
01:57Because it served as the story making us care more and keeping it from being impossible to relate to.
02:02But this doesn't do either of that.
02:05It happened out of nowhere with no foreshadowing and is forgotten.
02:09Most people would assume Sonic in the games would react with a normal amount of strong emotion to terrible things because he's got a conscience like us.
02:17And most people don't think Sonic's a sociopath or as a form of autism.
02:21But being away from his friends for a while doesn't cause Sonic to start hugging one of them upon seeing him again because he needed them around to not be sad.
02:30Of course Sonic can't be literally cool 24-7 or he wouldn't ever try to get us to care about when things get dark.
02:37Like after Shadow fell to Earth and he reassured Rouge about it.
02:41That wasn't cool.
02:42He's a hero and heroes have to show compassion sometimes and that isn't cool.
02:47If he never had any softer moments of weakness, we'd hate him for being an unrelatable creator's pet and he'd be no different than Poochie from that Simpsons episode.
02:58Who he's already been compared to a few times by people who hate Sonic.
03:03Amy should have been with Sonic the whole show because her hugging them would feel right.
03:07And if all the comedy was at her expense, it wouldn't feel as ridiculous.
03:13I'm not counting the slapstick as comedy because it's an action series.
03:17The dumbass moments and moments of someone wearing his heart on his sleeve could have been given to her and felt right.
03:24But I know they wouldn't have because thanks to the complaints of fans about her, Amy's never been Amy in this show.
03:29I say this because she never revealed she had a crush on him or acted optimistic and was just annoyed by the action instead of thrilled by it.
03:38It's annoying that Sonic keeps calling 9 by the wrong name.
03:41When in Secret Rings and Black Knight, he never had a problem with constantly calling characters who looked like his friends by the names of those friends.
03:50I took until now to complain about that because I think I could give him a little leeway the first couple of times.
03:56It is unrealistic when you think about it that he basically never had that problem in the games.
04:02He just wouldn't have made the mistake more than twice.
04:06And that's what the show does.
04:09It's so baffling to me that they were fine with ruining Sonic, the main character, but cared about improving Amy of all people and Knuckles.
04:18It's about addressing fan complaints but not understanding that people complained because they care about and respect the main characters in general as they are.
04:26I guess the reason they ruined Sonic was because they heard about the Universal complaint about Sonic being a bit of a Gary Stu in the games.
04:34He's overly idealized because they don't really understand how to make him cool.
04:40So usually they go too far in the other direction by making him a bit too flawed.
04:44Sonic's spending all this time happily introducing everyone else to Knife, who put in a program that taunts the Eggman, which Rotor and Archie already did.
04:55But it's obnoxious here because the face in it is shaped like his head that's smirking.
05:00So he's naturally got an ego problem from his life, where he tries too hard to give himself confidence.
05:06The predictable robot fighting happens for a while with nothing new.
05:12Why did it show Sonic slowed down doing a grunt?
05:16That reminds me that it's equally a waste of time that showed him and the heroes walking in slow motion.
05:22After Sonic beats a robot, he thanks to Nine for the save and makes him high-five him.
05:27And Nine smiles after that.
05:30Heartwarmingly saying high-five slowly afterwards.
05:34Sonic gets hit a bunch, but isn't really cathartic because they didn't get to see the impact when he got hit.
05:42Nux shouldn't be confused when he says spin dash because he already saw him spin, so clearly that's what it's called.
05:48Sonic throws Nux telling him to spin, and he throws Nine getting him to do that.
05:53So this is the first time I got to see this.
05:56We always assumed Sonic was the one who taught Tails this anyway.
06:00Nine explains that they can find where the prison is because of Sonic's shoes.
06:05And Sonic wastes valuable time proving this to them when they're still being chased down like an idiot.
06:11The council tries to shut down the doors in a failed attempt to trap them.
06:16And Rusty holds them open for them.
06:18And Sonic dodges a bunch of lasers as the story slows down to show the audience how fast he is.
06:24Doing the same kind of thing he did in the movie.
06:27He uses something to block the lasers.
06:29I hate how slow it's going until he spin dashes something away.
06:34One of the council members says ow as it falls out of a hole in the building.
06:39Sonic runs away from flying robots alone, and then he jumps on something that's going along a monorail to try to get away for a little bit.
06:47He does get knocked forwards, and I guess he had rings since he's still able to go back to running and doesn't have a concussion.
06:52This is kind of boring, really, because it's nothing but Sonic, so we know he'll be fine.
06:58Obviously, something the show could really use is not being afraid to injure any of the characters.
07:06Sonic's just cowardly running from robots that he could have just destroyed by jumping on them over and over, badnik bouncing them.
07:13Or jumping and then slowing down a little in midair so he would land on them.
07:18Instead of acting like sad AM Sonic, except he doesn't look scared, so why is he not attacking them?
07:24He didn't have to get onto this to dodge lasers for a while, but he's lucky are shot so slowly that after he hears them get shot out, he has time to jump over them.
07:33Even though lasers go at light speed, which is faster than sound.
07:37So they have to not be real lasers, and instead a narrow, fiery substance that looks like them.
07:43But this applies to a ton of other instances in the series.
07:46He smacks down a mecha from a big height, and the story wastes my time with him remembering irrelevant things.
07:54Nine opens the door for the heroes as they reunite with him, and multiple of them are surprised he's still alive.
08:00Which makes it confusing that Nine isn't upset right now from having once believed his only friend just got killed.
08:07So that proves that he's completely messed up at this point.
08:11Either that or he has one hell of a poker face.
08:13Maybe he was focusing on the idea that maybe Sonic was only pretending to like him, or only liked him for reminding him of his friend.
08:22So that's how he coped.
08:24It's just really weird.
08:25Sonic gets separated from some of his friends, except for Nine.
08:30Sonic sees the prism, and he feels bad because all of this happened because he didn't listen to his friends.
08:36Why did it take until now to realize this and feel bad?
08:40And an earlier episode established that he didn't remember this because he forgot everything after Shadow punched him.
08:48Nine figures out that if the prism was shattered, then there's more of these to find.
08:54Sonic says Nine has the brain to put them back together.
08:57And Nine says that's the first thing he said that he agreed with.
09:00Which I find hard to believe is true, because that means he didn't agree with Sonic when he said that his mechanical tails are cool.
09:09Even though he chose to make them, and they benefit him.
09:12And people only look down on him because of his natural other tail.
09:16So he'd feel bad about other people for hating anyone different.
09:20Not those tails.
09:21I'm guessing his mechanical tails draws so much attention that a lot of people don't notice that he has two organic tails.
09:30And he gets into the habit of trying to hide that he has multiple organic tails.
09:35So that would explain why we never get to hear anyone calling him a freak or a mutant.
09:41That would probably be better writing for constantly taking advantage of his backstory.
09:45Instead of us having to just take his word for it, and make him look like he's a little too melodramatic about this being a heartless, foul city.
09:55Because for all we know, there were only a few people who were bullying and rejecting him.
10:00The story ends with Sonic's contact with the prism caused him to get sent into a portal.
10:05Nine doesn't go in right after him.
10:08Which means he thinks there's a chance that Sonic got killed instead of warped somewhere else.
10:12So he's not risking it.
10:14Because if he thought it was just a portal, he'd follow him.
10:17It's weird and confusing to me that he shows no sign of being upset, as in completely devastated, at the idea of losing the only person who liked and accepted him.
10:27I totally get him not caring about most people.
10:29But that's because most people consistently hated him for being different and did nothing for him, even if they didn't.
10:36And that's not true for Sonic.
10:38He already recognized that Sonic's different from them.
10:40And that's why I decided to keep him around in the pilot.
10:44The Sonic boom doesn't have Sonic be an idiot, and it's much more creative than this show.
10:48Having a different, usually new premise in every episode.
10:52This episode by Eric Wace.
10:55Had the heroes escape from the room they were trapped in because of Nine being able to hack stuff like Rusty Rose really quickly.
11:02And eventually a door separates Sonic and Nine from the Rebels.
11:06Most of the story is wasting my time on uncreative robot fighting.
11:11Most of the episode was a little boring and very uncreative, and liked to waste my time a lot.
11:17It's clear that there wasn't enough plot to properly justify an episode this long.
11:22Most of the episode was easy for me to put up with since most of it didn't have Sonic be dumb in it.
11:27And it was action-packed and trying to be exciting.
11:29This is one of the decent episodes, because the stupidity of Sonic's not as obvious and constant as in the past episodes,
11:37because it only comes up when he ran from robots, and when he kept saying the wrong names a few times.
11:42This arc was just an imitation of Sonic Forces in Sad AM.
11:47Except without most of Sad AM's problems, but not enough creative to have there be a real point to doing this,
11:54considering that like in Sad AM, it could have done so much with the concept of a world run by Eggman.
12:00But we know almost nothing about what life here is like.
12:04Why are all the civilians just out and about instead of trapped in badniks or roboticized?
12:10That's not like him.
12:11I want to call it a poor man's Sad AM, but that's only true in the sense that Sonic's so much dumber here.
12:17Which is so frustrating that Prime not having most of its problems doesn't make it better.
12:22And Eggman's doing competence to have roboticized everyone here,
12:25and it isn't even scary enough to have put everyone in badniks like the classic games would have you expect them to do.
12:31So we're trying to depict him as a threat, falls flat with how Sothy's being on the people for no reason.
12:37So the Chaos Council are Eggman name only.
12:40Having only personality traits that are shared with him because he's a generic, evil, mad scientist, roboticist character.
12:49They should have been the villains of a different world doing creative things.
12:52So then the show could still do the new idea to the official source of the franchise
12:56of Eggman of all different ages being in one place working together.
13:01However, the only new thing they've done is have unidentified people in their empire get chased by robots,
13:07which doesn't produce a new result because every Eggman has people chased by robots just for being in a place.
13:13So far, they've completely wasted the concept of Eggman ruling a world.
13:18You know what would be really lame?
13:20If it was never shown,
13:22here's a bunch of other cities all over the world that look really different
13:25where Eggman also is ruling.
13:28You know,
13:29actually giving you a feeling that he's ruling the whole world instead of just one city on an island.
