A disturbing incident from Karnataka has come to light after a woman farmer was allegedly tied to a pole and assaulted by members of a neighbouring family in Chamarajanagar district. The incident occurred in GR Nagar village of Hanur taluk and surfaced after a video of the assault went viral on social media.

The victim has been identified as Kannamma, who had cultivated horse gram on her agricultural land. According to police sources, cattle belonging to a neighbouring woman, Selvi, strayed into Kannamma’s field and damaged the crop, triggering a fresh dispute between the two families. Police said the families had previous disagreements, which further escalated the situation.

During the confrontation, Selvi, along with Manju and Angamuthu, allegedly tied Kannamma to a pole and assaulted her. The incident was recorded on a mobile phone and later circulated widely, drawing public outrage.

After receiving information, Ramapura police rushed to the spot and took Selvi, Manju and Angamuthu into custody. An FIR has been registered, and a detailed investigation is underway.

Chamarajanagar Superintendent of Police Muthuraj visited GR Nagar village, inspected the spot and reviewed the case. Police said further legal action will be taken based on the investigation and statements recorded.
