A winter storm is forecast to bring ice and snow from Texas to the Northeast. Impacts will begin Friday evening in Dallas, expanding east to Charlotte, Atlanta, D.C. and NYC through Sunday.

00:00Here are five cities that will have significant impacts, big cities with hard hits from this upcoming winter storm.
00:07We're going to take you to Dallas, Texas, where we're expecting some widespread ice to build in on Friday evening after a period of rain.
00:16We expect between half of an inch and an inch of a combination of sleet and freezing rain leading to an icy mess in Dallas, Texas.
00:23And that will eventually change over to one to three inches of snow.
00:26Not much wind there. The worst conditions really developing late Friday night through Saturday into Saturday night.
00:33Heading a little farther east, we're going to take you to Atlanta, Georgia.
00:36Won't be any snow here, but there will be some freezing rain.
00:39Even a tenth of an inch of this can cause big trouble.
00:42The worst conditions in Atlanta will occur between Saturday evening through Sunday morning.
00:47A little farther northeast into Charlotte, North Carolina.
00:49A little bit of a snow start to this with the coating to an inch, but much of the storm will come down in the form of freezing rain and sleet with a half inch to an inch of it.
00:59Some of that will be sleet, but the freezing rain portion of it is going to cause big trouble with a power outage risk Saturday night through Sunday.
01:07Heading up into Washington, D.C., this is a heavy snowstorm, six to ten inches expected, with some ice possible, perhaps up to a quarter inch of freezing rain and mainly sleet.
01:16And in New York City, four to eight inches of snow with some gusty wind on the back end.
