00:00yesterday we're talking about like we always love to plan out the the playoffs like do we want to

00:27kind of like probably only gonna be one game and she wrote any given sunday nice it's a good movie

00:42damn it she's completely right and i i'm wondering what day this week is it going to be when we all
00:53get there my belief is that as we get past wednesday playoff fever is going to get into
01:02our bellies right now we're in that tweener spot monday is for anger tuesday is for some sort of
01:11still bleed over anger but we're going to start moving toward acceptance wednesday is your middle
01:17ground some of you will be there some of you won't that's bargaining that's right if they can just get
01:23trent back and if ricky can play you go then dot dot dot we're going to get a practice report

02:34like that team that team went 12 and 5 that team that we begged and hoped at the halfway point would
02:41actually just get into the playoffs somehow it did it did and let's go play a football game and we will
02:50be excited we're not fully there yet but of course she's right we've learned this lesson over and over
02:57i don't know why we think that we can come out of a week of football and think we know what the next
03:03one's going to look like it never works you've lost seven games in a row whoa don't make this about
03:09me we're having a football conversation yes i've lost seven in a row fade the diver coming up on friday
03:15we got no clue what the hell this is going to look like even though we think we do we don't we don't
03:23so that's my current take on that we're not at x's and o's yet no we're at uh we're at the emotions
03:30of it and unfortunately saturday is still too fresh in our mind and you know baldy brock played great
03:37he scored three points and the defense ben but don't break well they went for for fourth down
03:43from the four and they missed two field goals so yeah you gave up 13 but it could have easily been
03:4722 and it might have been 26 and yeah so the freshness of the disappointment and the reality of
03:53going to philadelphia and all of the thoughts and memories of philly fan and that nauseating pit in
04:00your stomach over the last time you had a playoff game there and brock's arm fell off and you know
04:05you had a fight between big dom and drake greenlaw and just the the smugness of nick siriani as a head
04:13coach and all the rest of the stuff that's around philadelphia you booed santa claus you cheered when
04:19michael irvin got hurt whatever all the memories are about this i'm still kind of in dread mode of
04:24if you go out there and you lose and they advance and your season ends there again that is that's the
04:32worst case scenario for me it's rough and you know as much as baldy said brock played great he also said
04:38philadelphia is the worst matchup the niners could have drawn and maybe it will be but you know what i've
04:43i hear a lot over the last two days that i think is funny oh the niners are going to get their doors
04:48blown off when the hell have the niners ever gotten their doors blown off well the rams this
04:53year was that doors blown off you were down 21 nothing now that to me was doors blown off right
04:58but then like then you put up a fight and you got beat like you clearly got beat yeah i thought they
05:04clearly got beat saturday but like but now your doors weren't blown off to me right does is anybody
05:10like the other niners are gonna like they're it's the 31 to 3 really is that i don't think that
05:17the 31 i can see uh but the three i don't see you only getting three points i can see a 31 21
05:24the defense is gonna have to do something to get the ball to take the ball away because what philly
05:31does is they get you into third and short tushy pushy fourth and short we're gonna do it again
05:36don't get it twisted what philly does is they don't do as well as they used to right they do not do what
05:42they do as well as they used to do it they don't it's not a great offense no i don't know if you
05:48need to be a great offense to move the ball on the niners right now probably not you know but um and
05:54they're a very very good defense but they're not seattle they're not houston they're not houston

06:16believing uh shanahan and and brock and the 49ers going if they're going to be clearly and it's not
06:23going to be defense it's going to be brock and shanahan coming with a i think a different game plan i think
06:28um they they they can't come with the same game plan because the philadelphia is going to use the
06:35same blueprint that seattle use they got that front four i think that i think you gotta it's a
06:40kind of league and shanahan doesn't like to copy other coordinator but if you run extra tight ends
06:46out there to chip these defensive men and and and get more check downs then you can brock to have
06:53other receivers because right now they don't have no receivers i mean if you don't have pierce all
06:57and trent you know brock is going he's not gonna have nobody throw the ball to you know so
07:02you got you got you got to come with something different you have to you have to control the
07:05game by by winning with on offense because you're not going to win with defense so i believe that they
07:11can win but they gotta they gotta play like when they came back when brock came back to philly and
07:17and they put up 42 and we see that team office we we have a chance to win otherwise we're not going to
07:23win uh matt thanks i'll tell you what i see on the whole trenton and ricky thing sure both of them
07:29are important would love to see both of them play this is just my gut telling me that i feel like
07:33trent is more likely to play than ricky i i don't know what we'll see uh maybe both of them will play
07:39i i like trent's chances based on what i've heard so far but we're going to get more definitive on that
07:45starting tomorrow for sure i i know that we we are conditioned right now after what we saw last
07:52week to be thinking about pass protection to be thinking about separation of receivers and what
07:58brock can do i think the path for the 49ers to do well in this game is much more about the run game
08:06than the pass game and that's kind of true for hell most nfl offenses to be frank but philadelphia
08:14you can run the ball on them and the 49ers will have to run the ball on them and if they are able to
08:22do that and i believe that they can then that is going to at least put them in the game that will
08:28that the run to open up the pass which is shanahan's favorite way to do it yeah go watch the black friday
08:34game of the bears against the eagles they gashed them you can run the ball on philly their pass rush
08:40is nice but you can run the ball on philly if mcafree is able to get four plus yards a carry i think
08:46the niners can have action in philly gives up a 4.3 carry which is right in the middle of the league
08:52and the niners you know don't run it very well they're 30th in the league so it might actually
08:57be as simple as that because you look at philly's pass rush and they don't blitz at all they blitz
09:03about as much as the niners blitz which is to say about 15 percent of the time so if philly can do
09:08what seattle did pressure with four then the 49ers are in a world of hurt because you know that's
09:14where if you don't have pure solid 100 you're down to juwan and demarcus and kittle and mcafree out of
09:20the backfield that's where a defense can tee off but you mentioned it the run defense for philly
09:24is gettable they're susceptible can the 49ers offensive line have a better game have a game more
09:31like they did against chicago and not like they did against seattle well and you hope that it's a
09:36different offensive line you hope it includes trent williams that's a big deal yeah that's a
09:39huge deal i think that's a bigger deal than ricky pierce all agreed because you know everything
09:44you're talking about which is not only running it and you'll notice a lot of their run plays are
09:48you know kittle on the left side with trent and then you send juice over there in that little juicy
09:53motion and now you've got trent and george and juice all running in front of christian mcafree
09:59as we go strong left and that is a lot of times that toss play that can be their best play

10:20hey everything is good first off i'm a lifelong niner fan and i'm the guy at the old candlestick
10:26days i was throwing rocks and popcorn at shasky so i want shanahan and i want lynch fired i want
10:32them done time their draft history is terrible shanahan is kind of like my mistress all right
10:39he's is like crazy you want to put a ring on it but there's just too many red flags there's just too
10:46many issues they've had enough time just like my mistress they don't deserve a ring it's time to
10:52let them go come on let's go let's not let's not i'm johnny i mean i'm not in love with your
11:00comparison but i like it better than the the take itself i mean like here here's one thing
11:07let let's whittle down on this for for just a second i can't defend all of the picks that the
11:1549ers have made they've had some high profile misses they've had some low profile misses they've
11:20had plenty of misses they've had low profile hits and low profile misses and but they've also had
11:27some high profile hits as well like i think i could argue that if it were another team you'd be
11:35jealous of the brock purdy pick i think if you want to add in value okay in terms of where they got
11:44someone and then what they're getting out of it i bet that i could go to debate class and win
11:52that brock purdy is literally the best draft pick in the nfl right now well that only matters if you
11:59then hit around him correct it's great that mr irrelevant has gone on to be a 53 million dollar
12:04quarterback and number two in qbr this year that's awesome but if your first round pick can't be healthy
12:11and if your other picks that you make aren't good enough and you're running back you took from oregon
12:15thanks grandy he doesn't ever play and your wide receivers played like 11 snaps and so your first
12:21round pick last year has an injury history put aside the gunshot wound but you've had a lot of
12:27picks that you made around purdy that haven't worked out and that lessens the impact of a purdy pick but
12:33then again like wouldn't you agree they've had a bunch of picks around purdy that that have worked
12:39out i don't know like i you know what i would love because this conversation to me always gets stuck in
12:44the mud because i believe that every fan base believes that their team sucks at drafting i really
12:49do i honestly believe that even like even the good teams the good teams i like i i don't know do the
12:57rams fans feel that way they don't even do drafts in the first round so i think every fan base thinks
13:04less of their team than what they they actually are um but if if you if you really i would love to see a
13:13metric of how the niners have done versus other teams what are they getting for what are they
13:20spending draft wise now you mentioned uh their first round draft picks at least recently michael
13:26williams is a tough one because what the 49ers came into this year needing was to stop the run
13:33that's what killed their season last year in my opinion number one on my tote board of what went wrong
13:39last year they were terrible stopping the run and you brought in robert sala and you made five
13:43defensive picks right correct off the top and michael williams was known as at least on the board
13:49as the best run stuffing defensive lineman in the draft and guess what he was i know everyone wants
13:56to look at that sack total oh he only had one sack and you're not looking for sacks there look at
14:02what their run defense metric was with him versus without him and he's only a rookie he actually was
14:08really good and i don't know if he's out um it really wasn't on all these guys i mean he was
14:13getting better he started slowly but and he was playing better as a run stopper he was really good
14:19he was really really good i don't know if you blame them for a torn acl you know like we we bring
14:27that up a lot i can't even tell if that's fair or not like someone has an injury history but then we
14:32drafted him i'm always like i'm having a hard time finding the football player that doesn't have an
14:37injury history i get it but some are worse than others bring in nick bosa off a torn acl in
14:42college and he tears it and then he tears another one this fair you can look at that and go okay
14:46not that i would give back the bosa pick because he's phenomenal but you can see where that is a
14:51thing and ricky pierce all's another guy put aside the shotgun injury he was hurt and then hurt in
14:57camp and then he's been hurt and so that's been the thing but you look at the rest of the draft last
15:02year alfred collins he's played in every game except one he's been solid okay uh nick martin he's
15:08been uh underwhelming early on ir now too yeah upton stout has been a great success as a third rounder
15:15cj west in the fourth it's fine in the fourth i mean he's a fourth rounder yeah he's played in 14
15:21games he's rotational and and jordan watkins the wide receiver don't know got hurt seagull who you took
15:28in the fifth he's had a hard time you know cracking the rotation that was exciting early and then got
15:33worse curtis rourke the quarterback seventh round quarterback whatever who knows connor colby uh he's
15:40filled in a little bit when needed and then uh junior bergen it's certainly not an awful draft but yes
15:45jury is out longer than than you know 17 games when there's a draft so i i wonder about that i i really
15:55do i'd love a comparison not a fan's thought because we all get mad at the missed picks i would
16:00love to know how the niners are doing measured against the rest of the league in terms of what
16:05picks they have and what are they getting out of those picks i'll see what i can find and i think a
16:08good metric is dude you give them a second contract that shows you know that there's a player that
16:14you drafted you played you liked and you kept yeah and i and i know that the the normal thing which
16:21is that they haven't been good in rounds one two three but they're sure good after that i mean they
16:25have a bunch of players who have passed the test you just threw out there second contract a bunch of
16:31stars they drafted them but i always hear that they suck at the draft and so now at least one listener
16:37would like everybody fired um after going 12 and 5 with mass injuries okay
