00:00I really think something is just for months now is getting lost in the sauce
00:04that is now a reality.
00:06And I really, really want everybody to let this actually sink the blank in.
00:16The 49ers are in the playoffs.
00:20Let that sink in.
00:24You lost your QB.
00:25You lost your edge.
00:26You lost your Hall of Fame linebacker.
00:28You lost your wide receiver a bunch of times.
00:31And your defense is filled with guys who are 22 and 23 and 24.
00:37And yet, you're in.
00:39You got three games left.
00:40With three games to go.
00:42Dude, you're in like Flynn.
00:45Listen, we have got to talk about this.
00:48Right?
00:48With three games to go, you're in.
00:52In.
00:54Like kukush.
00:56I mean.
00:56Like, your ticket is stamped.
00:58You're in.
00:59It's not like, well, you know, if you can win this one and that one, and if they lose,
01:03whatever, you're 10 and 4.
01:05You're in.
01:07Kukush.
01:08I can't believe it.
01:09Yep.
01:10I can't believe it.
01:11And it's all gotten lost in, I think, two ingredients of sauce.
01:15One ingredient is, as 49er fans, even the Kyle Shanahan haters out there, we have sort of
01:24become conditioned to the idea right now that at least some level of success is almost kind
01:31of mundane.
01:32And that's kind of a bummer.
01:35Like, to be honest with you, although the good side of it is that means that they go
01:39to the playoffs a lot.
01:40But this should be celebrated.
01:42And I am absolutely going to point out that about five to six weeks ago, this was what
01:48most people said was the goal.
01:51I would be happy with blank.
01:53Yep.
01:53And this is how most of you, including us, answered that question.
01:58I would be happy if they just make the playoffs.
02:03Now, of course, that dissipates into the air once this scenario happens, because now you're
02:08dangling the one seed in front of people's faces and you're getting a little healthier,
02:12at least on one side of the ball and all that.
02:14But this is really, really something special.
02:19To have this already be the case, we get January football.
02:23I'll never forget what it felt like sitting on my couch right next to my daughter when
02:27the Fred Warner injury happened about six minutes after I told her, that's the one
02:32guy they can't lose.
02:33And then his leg is turned the other way.
02:35And I'm like, that's it.
02:37That's it.
02:38We're done.
02:38Feels like this is on you then.
02:39Yeah, kind of.
02:40You put the jinx in.
02:41She said the same thing.
02:42She's like, I can't believe you did that.
02:44And they lost that game.
02:46That was against Tampa.
02:47They lost that game.
02:48And I think the Niners were four and two, but it felt like a death sentence.
02:52And the Niners are in the playoffs and everything is still ahead of them.
02:57And the other ingredient of sauce that this has gotten lost in is all of the warrior drama.
03:03And I get it completely.
03:05I told you, I sat in this on Saturday night and watched people screaming when good things
03:10would happen.
03:11Will Richard makes a shot and it's like, see, you jerk, Steve.
03:16And so, like, I understand.
03:19I fully do.
03:20I get the drama of the situation in this scenario.
03:23But the 49ers are in the playoffs.
03:26And I don't want to let that go.
03:29This is an incredibly, incredibly special achievement in my eyes.
03:34Yeah.
03:34I mean, especially when you look at what they've lost and, you know, what they've done.
03:38And you can schedule salmon all you want.
03:40And we have and we will.
03:41And that's a big part of it.
03:43But, you know, Chicago also schedule and they're in and New England schedule they're in.
03:49So it's a lot of that in the NFL where you catch a good schedule and you could do some
03:54special things.
03:54But New England didn't lose their quarterback and Chicago didn't lose their quarterback.
03:59And the Niners did for a long time and they lost their edge and they lost their linebacker.
04:03And so they had no tight end.
04:06They had Jake Tonjes for about a month as your tight end as well.
04:11So even if you look at the other schedule, Sam teams, and you should and you can.
04:16And Carolina is one of them.
04:17But even those teams, they didn't go through what this team has gone through.
04:21And yet here we are 10 and four, a game tonight.
04:23And if they lose, then they're still in the playoffs.
04:28Yeah.
04:29Yeah.
04:29Yep.
04:30Like not the end of the world, but now sort of, again, we're constantly recalibrating
04:36what our hopes are.
04:37And if I asked you like the over-under on a half a playoff win, like you won't answer
04:42now because if they win tonight, the answer maybe changes.
04:46If they lose tonight, well then they're pretty much going to be a wild card team.
04:49And then now you have to go on the road and either beat Philly or Carolina or whoever
04:54you have to beat.
04:55So right now, it still is too tough to make that call.
04:59It is.
04:59They could be the one seed.
05:00They could be the seven.
05:02I think anything's on the table.
05:05Right.
05:05I honestly do.
05:06I don't think the three and the four are not on the table.
05:09But do you know what I mean?
05:10I just, I look at this and I still think in the NFC playoff structure, careful with my
05:16word choice here, the only playoff team that I would expect the Niners to beat is whoever
05:26comes out of that NFC South.
05:27No matter what the stadium is.
05:29I think there's hope though, to beat almost any of them, to beat almost any of them is
05:35there, there, there would absolutely be hope that they, that, you know, no matter who it
05:39is, even the Rams, even the Rams, like you got it, you got to, you'd be a dog, but you
05:45got to, you got a shot at that small dog.
05:47Yeah.
05:47And I wonder if they'd be favored at Tampa or Carolina, like in that first wild card
05:52game.
05:53I definitely think so.
05:54I do too, but I mean, Green Bay or Chicago might be different depending on what happens
06:00over the next three weeks.
06:01I just, this to me is, boy, this is fantastic.
06:07It's just, this was, this was not the way this was going.
06:11And so, excuse me, I just, I, I really would love to play with that question for a little
06:19bit that I threw out there in the crossover.
06:21Friend of yours leaves for Mars in August and just got back and you tell them all the
06:27injuries and then they go, how'd they do it?
06:29How do you answer that question?
06:31What comes to your mind?
06:32Niner fans, 888-957-9570.
06:35It's Shanahan.
06:36For me, it starts with Shanahan and then it goes to Salah and the staff and also John
06:42Lynch, where, you know, you brought in Mac Jones and you brought in a backup quarterback
06:46who was highly drafted and a guy who could come in and, you know, hold the water while
06:52you needed that.
06:53And he did.
06:54And so beyond that, like the roster was built to where there was enough depth and Robert
07:00Salah and this defense, the defense has not been awesome, but they've been good enough.
07:05And okay.
07:05Yeah.
07:06And in the right spots.
07:07And by the way, I think the most underrated part of tonight, a whole bunch of people come
07:12back who haven't been playing.
07:14And I mean that from you, tour gross matos and Jordan Elliott and Sam O and all these
07:19guys, they're, they're, they're coming back.
07:20And, and that I think is significant going up against Jonathan Taylor and a grandpa quarterback
07:26who can't move.
07:27Like there there's, these are not great players, but they're good players.
07:30They're good players that the 49ers have not had the whole time.
07:34So I am so, so impressed.
07:38And you were talking about, you know, when you mentioned Jake Tonjes, this just popped
07:42into my head.
07:43Think of all the names that, that have had a profound effect on the 49ers season that
07:51you either hadn't heard of or hadn't thought about before the season started.
07:56So one of them is Mack Jones.
07:58Yep.
07:58One of them is Jake Tonjes.
08:00Tatum Bethune.
08:02Even Curtis Robinson.
08:05Keyon White.
08:06Leland Furrell.
08:07Leland Furrell.
08:08I guess D winters to, to, to a certain degree, like all of these people and, and then go
08:16to the rookies also right up in stout and, and man, few weeks ago, we're like these safeties
08:22all suck and they're still wobbly at times.
08:26But a couple of people, Mustafa and everybody is like, Jair Brown, you've worked your way
08:31into not being a liability out there.
08:34I just think that this is, this is so, just so, so impressive.
08:41And Kyle Shanahan is not going to win coach of the year, but I, but, but he deserves consideration
08:47and he deserves to be top three or four.
08:49And, and if they could give him that award and actually cut it in half and give half
08:55of it to Salah and half of it to Shanahan, they're deserving.
08:59I just, it's a weird year.
09:00There's so many deserving coach of the year candidates, but they're, they're right up
09:05there and they have to be at the center of this conversation.
09:07Yeah.
09:07And I think that the odds are still a six to one.
09:10If you want to bet it plus 600, you could bet a hundred to win 600 on Shanahan and stuff.
09:14And if they do win out and they get the one seed in the NFC, he might actually walk
09:19off with it.
09:19We'll see you later.
09:23We'll see you later.
09:25Bye.
09:27Bye.
09:29Bye.
09:31Bye.
09:33Bye.
09:37Bye.
09:39Bye.
