00:00Hello there, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:03Well, the first half of the weekend has been fairly bright for most of us, but as we go
00:07into Sunday, skies are set to turn much cloudier.
00:11So as we end Saturday, we have this area of rain across the west, and that's gradually
00:15going to move its way northeastward soon in the course of the night.
00:17It does weaken a little bit as it continues to track its way northeastward, but it will
00:22produce a lot of cloud, and that cloud will lower into hill fog and also some rather murky
00:28conditions nearer to the surface as well.
00:30So all in all, as we end the night, quite murky end of the night, especially across central
00:35and eastern parts of the UK, we will hang on to something a little bit clearer for northwestern
00:39Scotland, and skies may well clear later on across Wales and southwest England.
00:44So under the clearer skies, it may turn a little bit chilly as we start Sunday morning, but
00:48for most of us, under the cloud, temperature's not much lower than around 5 to 7 degrees.
00:55So we do start Sunday off on a rather grey and murky note, and it's going to really remain
00:59that way, especially for central and eastern parts of the country.
01:02Best of the sunshine up towards northwestern Scotland, Northern Ireland also seeing plenty
01:07of sunshine.
01:08Cumbria actually as well will see the sunshine come and go, but elsewhere lots of cloud
01:13around, cloud thick enough to produce some spots of rain, and then we're just keeping
01:16an eye on the risk of some heavier rain also beginning to move back into Devon and Cornwall
01:20as the day goes on.
01:22So on the face of it, it's going to be another fairly mild day, temperatures reaching around
01:279 to 11 degrees, but I think if you are stuck under the cloud, it will feel a little bit
01:31cooler than these temperatures suggest.
01:34So into the evening, further rain spreads its way in from the south, again some of this rain
01:38could be heavy at times, also accompanied by, again, a lot of mist and murk around.
01:45But it will turn drier and clearer later on down towards the southeast, but as the skies
01:50clear, we may well just see a few fog patches form before we head towards dawn on Monday
01:55morning.
01:56But with lots of cloud around, another mild night for the time of year, most of us in
02:00lows no lower than around 5 to 7 degrees.
02:05So Monday morning starts off rather grey for many of us, any fog across the southeast should
02:10gradually burn away.
02:12Heaviest of the rain during the morning will be across Scotland, but that will hopefully
02:15will begin to clear northwards as we move into the afternoon.
02:18But it does leave behind a lot of cloud, best of any brightness probably still down towards
02:24the south, but even here the cloud may well begin to reform later on in the day.
02:29And for most of us again, it's going to be another mild day, temperatures widely up to
02:339 to 11 degrees as winds remain coming in from the south.
02:37But we will see a change as we head towards the Christmas period.
02:41High pressure begins to influence us from Scandinavia.
02:45And as that does so, we start to drag in some colder air from the near continent.
02:50Note the tightly packed isobars too, so by the time we get to Christmas Eve and Christmas
02:54Day, we could see a marked wind chill as well develop, especially across the southern half
02:58of the UK.
02:59So certainly it's much colder weather on the way compared to what we have had so far this
03:03month.
03:04Keep an eye on your local forecast on our website and we will always keep you up to state with
