00:00Hello there, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Well after a bright day for some of us today, as we move towards the Christmas period, many
00:08of us are going to be greeted with cloudy skies.
00:11But out there at the moment we do have some sunshine.
00:13There are some stubborn fog patches out towards the east, but a very different story out towards
00:18the west, Northern Ireland, south-west parts of Wales, Devon and Cornwall too.
00:22Much more in the way of cloud here with some outbreaks of rain gradually moving in during
00:26the course of the afternoon.
00:28Also wind strengthening here too in association with that band of rain.
00:33But for most of us, temperatures around average or slightly above for the time of year, especially
00:38in the south, we'll see highs reaching around 10 to 11 degrees.
00:43So into the evening hours, clear skies initially for many, that will again allow some fog patches
00:47to develop.
00:48But the band of rain across the south-west will gradually spread its way north-eastwards, weakening
00:53a little bit so the rain becoming a little bit more patchy and lighter.
00:56But really, it's going to kind of lead to a rather murky end to the night for many eastern
01:01and central parts.
01:03Some clear skies, though, developing later on across the far south-west.
01:06And the western parts of Scotland also seeing some clearing skies.
01:09So here, we will turn a little bit chilly tonight.
01:11But I think if you are under the cloud, temperature is not falling much lower than around five
01:17to six degrees.
01:19So we do start Sunday off on a rather murky note, especially for central and eastern England.
01:23And unfortunately here, things are not really going to improve during the course of the day.
01:27The best of the sunshine during the day, western parts of Scotland initially, and then Northern
01:32Ireland, parts of Wales, and also maybe parts of Devon and Cornwall.
01:37But even here, later on in the day, we start to see this next band of rain arriving by the
01:42end of the afternoon.
01:45So temperatures tomorrow, around average again, but probably not feeling too great if you are
01:50stuck under the cloud.
01:52Maybe for Northern Ireland, where we do see some sunshine, it won't feel too bad for the
01:55time of year.
01:58And then looking ahead towards the Christmas period, the rather grey skies, what we see
02:02tomorrow, will continue as we move through Monday and Tuesday.
02:06Low pressure to the south of us, bringing in some further spells of rain at times, especially
02:11out towards the west.
02:12But then as we head towards Christmas Eve, this area of high pressure across Scandinavia will
02:16gradually begin to influence our weather.
02:19Still bringing in an easterly wind, note the tightly packed isobars, means it will be quite
02:23windy too across the south.
02:25So that will enhance the cold feel.
02:27So certainly I think much colder weather compared to what we've had of late, and also still the
02:32risk of some spells of rain.
02:35But as that high pressure builds in, we should start to see the weather settling down for Christmas
02:39day itself.
02:40But you can find out more information about the weather where you are on our website, and
02:44we'll keep you up to date with the latest Christmas forecast over the coming days on YouTube.
02:49But for me for now, take care and I'll see you again soon.
