00:00Let's take a look at the 3-30 matchup in Oxford.
00:04It's Ole Miss, it's Tulane.
00:05Last time these teams played on September 20th,
00:09Ole Miss was a 12-and-a-half-point favorite.
00:11They never looked back.
00:12They built a 35-nothing first-half lead, won that matchup 45-10.
00:17Lane Kiffin was on the sidelines for that matchup.
00:21Coach, no Lane Kiffin.
00:23It'll be defense coordinator Pete Golding and Charlie Weiss
00:27taking over the duties and the responsibilities for this team.
00:31Pete Golding is a veteran defensive coordinator
00:34coached under the likes of Nick Saban
00:36and some of the best coaches in the conference.
00:39When you look at this team as a whole, preparation-wise,
00:43do they still have an advantage,
00:45a 17-and-a-half-point advantage over Tulane in this matchup?
00:50Well, that 17-and-a-half is a push on that point,
00:53but I'm going to stay with Ole Miss.
00:54I just think they're playing so good right now.
00:57They're at home.
00:58They're playing very well.
01:01Really, there's more outside flack going on at Tulane, really.
01:06That coach now, one foot in the office, one foot in the next city.
01:10A lot of players wondering where they're going to be in that situation.
01:13So, again, I like Ole Miss at home, and it is a rowdy place to play.
01:18It's a home-field advantage, a rowdy place to play.
01:22And I like the weapons that they have.
01:26Trinidad Chambliss can run once by about $1.12 a game.
01:29He throws for over 300 yards a game.
01:32Has been, well, second-team all-conference.
01:34He's been a real surprise of the conference.
01:36And so, again, Ole Miss, I don't know how far they can get in the playoffs,
01:40but I think they'll have no trouble getting by Tulane.
01:42Yeah, and when you look at Ole Miss as a whole, you know,
01:45this offense was hitting on all cylinders.
01:48The only loss came in Athens to the Georgia Bulldogs.
01:51That was a game that they had Georgia at least dead to rights in the first half,
01:5621-16.
01:58They had scored on almost every possession in the first half.
02:02Kirby Smart made halftime adjustments,
02:04and the Bulldogs pulled out that matchup by eight points
02:07and got the cover as a seven-and-a-half-point home favorite.
02:11The one concern that I do have with Ole Miss is,
02:15especially with Lane Kiffin moving on,
02:18when you have a train in motion, and we talk about this, right,
02:21everything is hitting on all cylinders, Lane Kiffin moves on,
02:24you almost want to play the following week,
02:27to almost have two, two-and-a-half, three weeks of just sitting around.
02:32You know, I know players get healthy,
02:34but I think that's where potentially it could be a detriment
02:37for the Ole Miss offense to maybe come out a little bit rusty,
02:42not hitting on all cylinders, and might take a quarter or two,
02:45and potentially that's where maybe you give the edge to the underdog.
02:50We talk about the series being dominated by Ole Miss.
02:53They have won 14 straight over the Tulane Green Wave.
02:57The last four matchups have come by an average margin of victory
03:01of 32.4 points per game.
03:04Last win by Tulane in the series came back in 1988, coach.
03:09That's a long time.
03:10They haven't played each and every year.
03:13But John Summerall will be on the sidelines.
03:15Jake Retzloff is an experienced quarterback,
03:18and this team can run the football averaging 170 yards on the ground per game.
03:23I mean, I'm going to take the 17 points.
03:26I do feel like it is an under 56-and-a-half,
03:30but part of me wants to take the 580 as well on the money line.
03:34Any shot that Tulane could play Cinderella in this matchup?
03:39I personally don't think they will.
03:41I think they've got enough distractions going on.
03:43I think there's a separation in the ability of these two football teams.
03:47Quarterback situation, the wide receiver, the running back.
03:50Ole Miss has weapons all the way across the board,
03:52and so I just see them pulling away from Tulane in this game in the second half.
03:58Yeah, we'll see exactly how this plays out.
04:01If Ole Miss does, in fact, win, they will be and will face off against Georgia.
04:07That is a rematch of a game that took earlier in the season where Georgia did win.
04:13It was a very high-scoring game.
04:15They blew through the total in Athens.
04:17We'll see exactly how that game plays out.
04:20If Tulane wins, people aren't going to be talking about potentially putting in Cinderella
04:26in the college football playoff, right?
04:28I mean, if one of these teams win, JMU, obviously, the other big underdog in the first round of these ballgames.
04:36Coach, if one of these underdogs win, I don't think a lot of pundits will come out and say
04:41they're not deserving of being in the 12-team playoff, will they?
04:45No, it just takes one of them to do that, too.
04:48And, again, they're underdogs, and they're having to play on the road
04:51because every one of these teams that's favored, ranked up higher, they're playing at home,
04:56so it makes it even more difficult.
04:58But James Madison having to go out to Oregon, Ole Miss Stadium, it'll be a tough play.
05:04So, anyway, it could happen, but I'm not going to worry about it.
05:07It's at 17-and-a-half.
05:08It scares me more than anything else because I don't think Ole Miss is going to get knocked off.
05:12I'll see you next time.
