00:00Two undefeated teams, Tulane and Ole Miss.
00:03Both teams entered this matchup 3-0.
00:06Tulane has lost 13 straight games, coach, to the Ole Miss Rebels.
00:10They've lost those games over the past four meetings
00:13by an average margin of defeat of 17 points per game.
00:16Didn't play last year, but played back in 2023.
00:21Ole Miss went into Tulane and won that matchup 37-20.
00:25The bigger question is, is Trinidad Chambliss the starting quarterback
00:29or does Lane Kiffin roll it with Austin Simmons this weekend?
00:33Yeah, and I'm not sure that it matters the way Trinidad Chambliss played
00:38and the mistakes that Austin Simmons made while he was playing.
00:42I know the champion of rope-a-dope is Lane Kiffin.
00:46You won't know whether the guy's healthy or not
00:48until the first play of the football game which quarterback he's going to get.
00:52But I love Tulane.
00:54I love their head coach.
00:55I love the toughness that he's brought to Tulane.
00:57I love their quarterback, the way he played.
01:00He ran like a quarterback that's not a shaky, shake-and-bake type of quarterback,
01:06but he scored four runs, threw for another touchdown last week, Jake Retzloff.
01:11And I'm going to tell you, Tulane is a one that Ole Miss better watch out for
01:15because this one could sneak up on you and give you all kinds of problems.
01:20I love that line at, what, 12-and-a-half points with Tulane.
01:24I love that John Somerhal, the head coach at Tulane.
01:28I coached against him at Troy a couple years as they dominated our conference in the Sun Belt.
01:34He creates winners, and he'll probably be in the SEC before long.
01:38But I love how he's got them playing.
01:40They've already beaten Northwestern.
01:41They've beaten Duke.
01:43Ole Miss has too much talent for them to beat, but he's got too much stuff.
01:47His team has got too much stuff to lose by more than 12-and-a-half.
01:51Yeah, here's the thing, and tell me if I'm wrong in the breakdown.
01:55You saw the matchup play out against Arkansas.
01:58I think Arkansas was built and equipped with Bobby Petrino
02:01and, more importantly, Talon Green to get into that higher-scoring game
02:05where you want to push tempo.
02:07Ole Miss will run with you.
02:08It's almost like a full-court basketball game.
02:11When you look at Tulane, even though Retzloff is playing well,
02:14he's only completed 59% of his passes, only has two passing touchdowns.
02:19They want to slow it down, right, whether it be Trinidad, Chambliss,
02:22or Austin Simmons.
02:24We want to keep that offense on the sidelines.
02:27A similar type of game plan to what Mark Stoops in Kentucky had, right?
02:30The six, seven-minute drives, we want to end it with a field goal
02:34or a touchdown and limit the type of possessions
02:37that potentially Ole Miss has in this game.
02:40If Ole Miss comes out, first two possessions, 14-zip,
02:43I think Tulane's at a significant disadvantage.
02:46So, I like the 12-and-a-half with you,
02:49but I think in order for Tulane to pull it out,
02:51they have to be under the 61-and-a-half.
02:54Yeah, I don't think they need to get into a scoring match with Ole Miss
02:57because then you get into Lane Kiffin's kind of game
03:00and the type of talent that he has at Ole Miss.
03:03You want to keep it low,
03:05and I think that's the strength of the toughness of Ole Miss,
03:08I mean, Tulane's defense,
03:10and I think that'll be the game plan
03:12because if they can keep that clock running
03:14and keep that score down by halftime,
03:17not only does it give them a better chance,
03:18the momentum changes,
03:20the attitudes of coming out of the locker room changes,
03:23and Tulane hasn't had a lot of success against Ole Miss,
03:27but I promise you,
03:28if it's a tight ball game at half,
03:30you'll see them playing them right down to the wire.
03:33That's why I've got Tulane playing this game close enough
03:37to stay within the margin.
03:38We'll see you next time.
