00:00Ole Miss underdogs getting three and a half points tonight from the
00:03Hurricanes total 51 and a half at the opening number.
00:06You see that graphic.
00:06We're not the 52 and a half across the board.
00:09Pete Golding last stand out here.
00:11Mario Cristobal.
00:12He can never win the big game despite winning back-to-back big games.
00:15Now, as we see it, I can't wait for this to start as a Miami fan.
00:19It's feels like Joe.
00:20We've been talking about this for five years, this game.
00:23And finally we have it tonight.
00:26Yeah, we do.
00:27And I thought for a minute there you were going to dance on the ceiling.
00:30But never mind.
00:31We got a whole, yes, I know.
00:33What a feeling it is.
00:34And it's got to be for Miami as well.
00:37I think this is strength versus strength.
00:39I'm looking very forward to this game here tonight because the thing that has
00:44always hampered Miami, right, going back a long time,
00:48but most recently in Cristobal's era,
00:50is that they just couldn't beat the elite teams, the good teams, right, Donnie?
00:55They would always seem to fall flat, and that would be the end of that.
01:00Well, they've kind of done away with that because when you look at the teams
01:04that they had to rattle off wins against down the stretch here,
01:07including that final game against Pitt in the regular season,
01:11it was a top 25 team.
01:12Then you have to go to A&M and win a game, which you did.
01:16Then you had to take on Ohio State, who was number one in the country most.
01:20You ended up handling business there.
01:22This defense is a legit defense.
01:25Ole Miss, they've faced some pretty good defenses, Donnie, have they not?
01:29I mean, they had to play Georgia twice.
01:32They've also had to play Oklahoma, which a lot of people thought was the best
01:36defense in the country.
01:38And they have averaged, you know, well over four touchdowns in those games
01:43against those good defenses.
01:44So they're accustomed to seeing quality defenses, but I do think that this is
01:49a different animal with Miami, and I do, and you and I have talked about it
01:53all week, of both these games, the one shootout we're going to get is likely
01:58in this game, but I do think ultimately defense wins or at least gets you
02:03to championships, and I think Miami's defense will make a few more plays
02:07in this one to give them the win and a chance at a national championship.
02:11Here's Pete Golding talking about making it to the semis here in college
02:15football.
02:16November 30th, everything changed for you and your team when Lane Kiffin
02:19decided to leave for LSU, and a lot of people didn't think you would be here
02:23right now at the national semifinal in the Fiesta Bowl.
02:26So what is your message to Lane Kiffin and to all those who maybe have given up
02:31or lost hope and you keep proving them wrong as you're here right now in Phoenix?
02:35Yeah, I don't have a message for anybody else.
02:37You know, I think our team, right, our team had a message.
02:42They had a message about how they prepared and how they play and that they
02:46weren't tired of playing, and I do think the message is I'm replaceable,
02:50you're replaceable, our players are replaceable, right?
02:53I think you want to build a program to where it's heading in the right direction
02:56and one person, one player, anything like that's not going to derail that.
03:00There's been too much invested in that and it's been aligned correctly that one
03:04person is not going to impact something so drastically.
03:08If it is, it's probably not built right, right?
03:11If one coach in any sport can determine the outcome of it,
03:14he probably doesn't have a very good staff, right?
03:16I mean, if one player can determine the outcome of it,
03:18we probably didn't recruit and create the right depth, right?
03:21Or we didn't prepare him and be ready for his opportunity.
03:23It's a team game.
03:25I mean, there's so many people that go into it.
03:27So the timing of when it happened, in my opinion,
03:30it couldn't happen at a better time for the players because everything was
03:34already in place, right?
03:35Everything was on the track.
03:36It's headed the right direction.
03:37We got really good players, right?
03:39There was already a culture created.
03:41They knew the expectation.
03:42The only thing that was different, who's running out of the tunnel.
03:45And to be honest with you,
03:45I don't think the players give a damn who runs out of the tunnel.
03:48Does that make sense?
03:49They care about their plan.
03:51They care about getting held accountable, right?
03:53And how they're going to prepare.
03:54And they care about people that care about them, right?
03:57And I think that's been the message.
04:00By the way, Pete Golding looks like he could either be 25 or 55, Joe.
04:06Well, he looks a lot closer to 55.
04:08He didn't look like that when he was just a DC, Donnie.
04:11Did you notice that?
04:11Now he's got like pencils in the hair.
04:14He's got all, it looks like he hasn't slept in 12 months.
04:18So yeah, that'll do that.
04:19A lot of pressure on him.
04:21But I mean, listen, kudos.
04:23If he manages to win this game, he doesn't have to win a national championship.
04:28Just get to the national championship and they'll build a library for him at Ole Miss.
04:34I can assure you of that.
04:36Let's hear from Mario Cristobal with a quick little clip here.
04:39You know, I don't think people realize how good the teams in the ACC are.
04:42Okay.
04:42And I hope now that they're realizing that more and more as we advance,
04:46because those are the teams that we play in our conference.
04:49They do great in this, in the CFP.
04:53That's why they got the full amount of the 14 million for bowl season.
04:57Mario's like, you know what?
04:58You gave us the check.
04:59I'll compliment you, ACC.
05:02Listen, we got to stop with it.
05:04Nobody cares that Miami's in the ACC.
05:06They might as well be independent at this point here,
05:09because the fact that their ACC is irrelevant here.
05:13They have dominated teams from the SEC in the playoff as well as the Big Ten.
05:18So I can assure you the ACC has no bearing on the Miami Hurricanes.
