00:00We'll turn our attention to the Saturday games in the afternoon slate.
00:04We saw Ole Miss coach start very fast in Oxford.
00:07They built a 14-0 first-half lead.
00:10They never looked back.
00:11They rolled yet again for their 15th straight win over Tulane.
00:17Tulane was never in this matchup, trailing right from the start.
00:21They did run the football effectively in the first half,
00:24but trailing by double digits, they really were up against it.
00:28Ole Miss now matches up against Georgia in a rematch.
00:32They didn't miss Lane Kiffin at all in their first-round game.
00:36That may be the most important thing about the game for Ole Miss,
00:39that they needed to have a good showing so that the fans and the players
00:43and everybody could buy in to the new head coach that's a defensive coordinator,
00:47that Charlie Weiss is the guy calling the plays or can call the plays,
00:51that they can go with this group, and it was critical.
00:54And they played very well, put a lot of points on the board.
00:57I mean, first seven plays gave them 14 points.
01:00And although Tulane had some spurts in there,
01:03and Ole Miss does have a defense that sometimes gives up too many points.
01:06I think they gave up a little over 500 yards, but they were never in doubt.
01:11They were never close.
01:12And so it was one of those games that, very much like Oregon in a way,
01:17they got ahead, had no problem staying ahead, and they proved some things.
01:21One, that they've got a football team without Lane Kiffin.
01:26They've got a great football team.
01:28Could this team potentially just go on a heater and win it all?
01:32I mean, if Chambliss is on, and with the interim staff, I mean,
01:37wouldn't that be something if they actually win the national championship
01:40and stick it right to Kiffin for taking the seven-year deal worth $91 million?
01:45Yeah, I'm sure Lane would find a way to take credit for it anyway.
01:51But I will say this.
01:52You know, if they get hot, when you've got a quarterback that's as talented
01:56as Trinidad Chambliss, if you've got a running back like Lacey
02:00that can run the football and the skilled players out wide
02:03and really solid talent on defense, there are Cinderella seasons,
02:09not say Cinderella, special seasons where you have a special chemistry.
02:12And I had that in 19-93.
02:15We just would find ways to win, maybe even when we weren't better than somebody.
02:19So I think they're not the best team out there,
02:21but they have shown they've got a special thing about this football team,
02:25and I think the crowd is really behind them.
02:27They're behind their coaches, and it's going to be interesting.
02:31Georgia's going to have their hands full next week.
02:33Absolutely.
02:34Now, we did see Georgia average well over five yards per carry in their first,
02:38meaning they won that matchup by eight points in Athens.
02:41They did cover as a seven-and-a-half-point home favorite.
02:44But when you look at Ole Miss defensively, and Golding now is the interim head coach.
02:48He's also the D.C.
02:51Ole Miss entered this college football playoff coach with the worst rushing defense
02:55out of all the teams, all 12 teams.
02:58They're allowing now 147 rushing yards per game.
03:02They allowed 115 to Tulane, only 3.3 yards per carry.
03:06But McClure and Retzloff were able to make some plays in the rushing attack.
03:12Is that a cause of concern moving forward against the blue-collar offensive line
03:16in the Bulldogs?
03:18Oh, I think without a doubt that's the weakness.
03:20That's why it's probably most likely that they won't beat Georgia,
03:23that they won't move forward.
03:25I'm just saying they can pull it off, but it would have to be by outscoring people.
03:29Because as we saw the times that Tulane was able to get big plays
03:33and put a lot of offense on the board, Georgia was beforehand.
03:37They don't dominate with their defensive personnel like they did last year.
03:41You know how good they were last year, especially up front.
03:44They lost a lot of those players to the NFL.
03:46So it's a team that would have to explode on offense and just find ways to win.
03:51People making plays and just the synergy that comes together
03:56when you have a year like they're having.
03:58But you're right, their defense, if they lose and when they do,
04:01it'll be because their defense cannot stop people.
