00:00Hello there and welcome to your Wednesday evening weather update from the Met Office
00:04where we do have rain warnings across South Wales, the south-west of England
00:08and then eventually southern counties of England as well as this weather front continues its passage
00:13eastwards bringing some heavy downpours. Windy as well as rain returns from the south and the west
00:18pushing northwards this time. So most places seeing that wet weather through the next 24 hours
00:24a gusty day on Friday with further showers particularly in the north
00:28some brighter skies further south but that's not the end of the story
00:32another weather front moves in as we head through Saturday thickening cloud
00:35brings outbreaks of rain yet again as those winds pick up some strength. For the time being this
00:42evening it's wet outside particularly for England and Wales with some heavy downpours expect spray
00:48on the roads surface water issues the risk of flooding here as showers move in across Scotland
00:54and Northern Ireland turning heavy with the risk of some snow over the tops of the mountains. Into
00:59the early hours of the morning that rain pushes ever eastward so some heavy downpours extend across
01:04southern and eastern counties of England and here's your warning zone as we enter the day on Thursday.
01:10It will be a windy end to the night and temperatures dipping down to four or five degrees Celsius across
01:17Scotland and Northern Ireland. First thing then tomorrow morning we can see some drier weather to
01:22start the day away from the west where we'll see showers but through the morning that cloud thickens
01:28and brings outbreaks of rain so the rain returns to southern and western areas. Now the winds will be
01:34strong and gusty particularly across the south as we see drier weather into the afternoon across the
01:39northeast of Scotland but eventually the rain will reach these parts. The rain will be heavy at times yet again
01:47so the risk of some localized flooding and with that tricky conditions on the roads. So a windy afternoon
01:53to come a gusty one temperatures 12 in the south but only eight degrees across the north. If you are
02:00driving through Thursday evening you may run into some heavy downpours across much of England and Wales.
02:07Showers move in across Northern Ireland but that rain will be persistent across Scotland and again some
02:14heavy more intense bursts are likely. Winds will be strong as well as pushing up across the country
02:20and with that yes that rain continues its passage northwards and eastwards through Thursday evening.
02:27The rain lingers on across more central and eastern areas into evening time before we see some drier skies
02:34extending across the country. The rain becomes confined to Shetland but those showers really push in
02:40tracking across the country across Scotland and Northern Ireland. Northern England seeing some
02:44Wales, the west country as well they're scattered here but across more northern and western areas
02:49merging to form longer spells of rain and that strong wind. Some brighter skies central and eastern
02:54areas of England's southern counties as well but those showers continue across the north into Friday
02:59evening and a gusty wind here. Strong winds towards the north. Temperatures then around 9 to 11 degrees
03:05Celsius. Now through Saturday the cloud will thicken from the west. We'll see a band of rain move in.
03:12Could see some brighter skies across eastern counties until much later. Temperatures here 11 degrees
03:17Celsius, 9 across the north as well as the west. For more details of the 10 day trend this week it's with
03:23Alex Birkhill as he talks about Christmas week and what's going to happen and there is a change
03:28coming our way. I'll see you later.
