00:00But first, let's discuss the latest sports betting story of the day, and we begin with the NCAA ruling that University of San Francisco guard Marcus Williams is ineligible to play after determining he shared inside information about his expected game statistics with a former Fresno State player named Michael Robinson, who used the tips to place daily fantasy bets ineligible to play.
00:24He had already been ruled permanently ineligible for placing prop bets on his own performance and conspiring with a teammate at Fresno State.
00:32The case is one or more than a dozen, which players have been involved with multiple schools and sidelined have been nationwide investigations into college sports gambling players.
00:45Folks, don't bet on your own props.
00:48Learn your lesson from there.
00:49But Sharon Moore is no longer the head coach at the University of Michigan.
00:54And rather than me pouring on and going over all the stuff that's going on the Internet, maybe we should just leave it at that.
01:00He's been detained by police for some improprieties that allegedly went on at the University of Michigan.
01:06Michigan decided to let him go for allegations that he had an improper relationship with a staffer at the University of Michigan.
01:14And again, you can read a lot about this on the Internet with some wild allegations going back and forth.
01:20You really don't do allegations here on Newswire.
01:24So I would just encourage you to hang tight, find out what actually happened.
01:29But we know the Wolverines are now looking for a new head coach.
01:34Bad timing with bowl season coming too.
01:37All right.
01:37The time is now for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
01:39If they're going to make a playoff push, they got to win this game tonight against the Atlanta Falcons.
01:43And the odds makers are telling us it's going to be a close one.
01:46Bucs have not played well.
01:47They're four and a half point favorites against a team that's really not playing well, by the way.
01:50And the Atlanta Falcons total 44 and a half.
01:53Usually when these two teams play, it's expect the unexpected.
01:57Let's get a preview from the head coaches, Todd Bowles and Raheem Morris.
02:01We'll start off with Bowles on the opportunity to capture a division and win this game.
02:06I don't consider him a backup quarterback.
02:08I consider him a starter and he has for a long time.
02:11Knows where to go with the football.
02:12Very accurate.
02:13Knows the offense inside and out.
02:15So it's going to be a challenge for us, especially everyone needing to be where they need to be.
02:19So the challenge is just facing the entire team.
02:22The entire team.
02:23We got to learn from what happened last year.
02:25We did some things good the first time.
02:27But that was a long time ago.
02:28It feels like since week one or week two that we played them.
02:31And this time around, we just got to make sure we execute and make plays.
02:35Yeah, Coach, how do you keep the morale of your team together with, you know, some of the things off the table at the playoffs and so forth?
02:42Yeah, that's awful.
02:43You never want to be in this spot.
02:44But really, just the job is to go out and play spoiler right now.
02:46You got a Tampa Bay Buccaneer team on Thursday that we got a lot of respect for, that we love to play.
02:52That's always a highly competitive football game.
02:54And I expect no different.
02:56And I love the fact that our guys get to get back back on the grass and go out there and take another shot at it.
03:01We got some high character people in our building.
03:04And now we just got to go look at the tape.
03:06We got to go figure out from a team, a collective group, what we need to do to win this football game.
03:10Because that's the only thing that really matters.
03:12Didn't expect a lockout or a strike from the refs in the National Football League, those being the referees, long refs for short.
03:19Their deal expires in May, and the NFL laid out some priorities for a new agreement, including performance-based information.
03:29Also making postseason assignments based on merit rather than seniority.
03:34Probationary period involving new refs.
03:37Will they go for it?
03:38Will there be a lockout?
03:39Remains to be seen.
03:40But it seems like the NFL wants to make the refereeing better in the future.
03:44Also, the first round of the NFL draft is going to be better.
03:47It's going to be shorter.
03:48The commissioner of the National Football League says that the first round picks in between will go from 10 minutes to 8 minutes.
03:57So the draft ends before midnight.
03:59That's a good thing.
04:00Also, the United States House passed a bill to help stadiums in the NFL eliminate drones from flying over the stadiums.
04:07It's a new act, and it's in legislation.
04:09So naturally, they want to stop this, of course, because the World Cup is coming to stadiums as well.
04:13And they don't want drones flying over that as well.
04:15All right.
04:16Now let's go back to on the field.
04:17Justin Herbert looks ready to go after winning another game on Monday night against the Eagles.
04:22Of course, Tuesday is a day off.
04:24So yesterday, we found out that Herbert's still a little sore, had x-rays on his injured hand, but says he should be able to go this week.
04:31Justin, how did you come out of the game with good hands?
04:34Yeah, it was pretty sore yesterday, but I think for the most part, got images done, x-rays, and everything was clean for the most part.
04:42It's just, you know, getting the swelling down and continuing to get full strength in it and continue to do as much treatment as I can.
04:49Considerably more swollen, like after the game, as compared to, like, after surgery, is it not the same?
04:55Was it not as bad response standpoint?
04:57I think compared to the days after surgery, I think it's a lot better now.
05:01I think it was just sore.
05:02I think having played on it and using it and kind of falling on it, too, I think that kind of helped and, you know, was some of the reasons why it was sore.
05:13But I think for the most part, it's gotten a lot better.
05:15I feel like my grip strength has gotten better, and just being able to use it has gotten better, too.
05:21Let's shift to the NBA.
05:22The San Antonio Spurs, playing without Victor Wimbayama, seem to be doing just fine.
05:27They improved to 17-7 on the season, beating the Lakers last night in L.A., 132-119.
05:34The Lakers were 7.5-point favorites.
05:37If you took that money line on the Spurs, you're feeling pretty good today.
05:39Stephon Castle had 30 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists.
05:44Luka had 35 points in a losing effort.
05:47By the way, if you're following the NBA Cup, that means the Spurs do advance to the semifinals.
05:52Here's Stephon Castle on setting the tone early and coming out with the win.
05:57I think just the maturity that we had coming into the game.
06:01I think our pace was great from the start of the game, kind of opened up the court for us.
06:05I mean, they had a couple loud plays, but I feel like we came together and clamped down what we needed.
06:09The championship pedigree that you have, did that, or, you know, winning at UConn, did that play into the night?
06:18Just how you rose to the occasion?
06:21I mean, just knowing the stakes of the game.
06:24I mean, obviously, we come into every game wanting to win, but I feel like we did the little things just a tad much more tonight than probably any other game.
06:33And, you know, we've got to ask a little bit more of everybody.
06:40You know, we don't crash.
06:43You know, we can't force a lot of turnovers.
06:48We did a terrible job at the end of the first quarter and the second quarter of end-of-quarter stuff,
06:54so that immediately we're behind the eight ball there.
06:57And if a team shoots well, we're going to be really in trouble.
07:03San Antonio Spurs not just winning games these days, but as you can see, winning by almost 50 points last night.
07:08Thunder beat the Suns 138-89.
07:11They're 24-1 on the season.
07:14Here's Mark Dagno on picking up the blowout.
07:17Yeah, great tone early in the game to build an early lead.
07:20And then, you know, we were a little, you know, muddy in the second quarter, start the second,
07:26and then we closed the quarter really well.
07:29You know, both ends of the floor, great precision on offense,
07:31and then really made them earn everything on defense, and it built us a nice lead.
07:36The largest margin of defeat ever for the Suns.
07:39Just maybe speak to what Alexey got away there in that second half.
07:42I mean, it started, I mean, late in this first half.
07:44Yeah, I think they're midway through the second.
07:46We might have had down to 12.
07:47Yeah, then just inability to keep it in front, hang on to the ball.
07:55It got away from us at the end of the second quarter.
07:57What was the message after one like this?
08:01First off, give them credit.
08:02It's a really good team that played an incredible game.
08:07I mean, it's okay to be disappointed.
08:09Like, we didn't play our best, but we were here.
08:11We were in this environment with a lot on the line in December
08:16against a really good team, and now we've got to get better.
08:21It doesn't change.
08:22That message doesn't change.
08:23Win or lose.
08:25We know we all have something to get better in.
