00:00Let's talk about the Chicago situation, which is going on right now with sports betting.
00:04How about this story?
00:05The Sports Betting Alliance has warned the mayor of Chicago, Brandon Johnson, today that
00:09its members may stop offering online sports betting in the city at the start of the year,
00:15one of the biggest sports betting markets in the country.
00:17In the proposed budget, a letter sent ahead of a planned meeting said the new proposed
00:21budget introduces a new city licensing requirement for online sports books, but doesn't give
00:25any standards for creating a risk of noncompliance.
00:28This includes DraftKings, FanDuel, and also a 10.25% new city tax on online sports wagering.
00:36So certainly they're going to need to come to some sort of agreement here in January, or
00:39Chicago may not have sports betting in the future.
00:42Meanwhile, yesterday in the National Football League, one of the best games of the day ended
00:46up being the game last night.
00:47The New England Patriots come all the way back to beat the Baltimore Ravens, and the Patriots
00:52are headed to the NFL playoff.
00:5328-24, the final.
00:55Drake May comes through in the clutch.
00:57Big story on the Ravens' side was Lamar Jackson, who was injured in this game.
01:01It's New Puntley, by the way, their backup quarterback, also injured in this game as well.
01:05But the Patriots certainly doing their very best Tom Brady-esque impression, courtesy of
01:11Drake May, who's been fantastic and is among the favorites to win the MVP in the National
01:16Football League.
01:17Here's Mike Vrabel on the team's comeback win on the road.
01:20Our quarterback battled, and our receivers came through, and our runners, and it was a
01:27great, I felt like it was a big team win.
01:29It was a huge team win.
01:30You know, Andy kicked the ball well.
01:34You know, so again, it was just, you know, we lost a lot of guys.
01:39A lot of guys went down.
01:39A lot of guys stepped up, and we're going to have to get healthy.
01:42But I think that this was a great win for us.
01:46John, I mean, home field advantage is sort of built into the culture of the team, built
01:51into the culture of your tenure here.
01:54How disappointing is it to have six losses at home this year?
01:58You've got to play winning football at home if you want to win at home.
02:00You know, we haven't done, now we've had two or three of those games where we were, you
02:03know, behind the eight ball.
02:04So I'll acknowledge that for sure.
02:06But you've got to play winning football whether you're at home or on the road.
02:10It really doesn't matter.
02:11That's what you have to do, and we haven't done it enough.
02:15Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions chase for the postseason.
02:18Looks like it could be coming to an end.
02:19They're going to need to win their final two games.
02:21The Packers are going to need to lose their final two games.
02:24Will it happen?
02:25We'll see.
02:25The reason why was the Pittsburgh Steelers went into Detroit yesterday and hang on
02:30to win 29-24, a wild finish in the game between these two teams.
02:35It almost went to 8 p.m. Eastern, kind of a crazy ending where Amon Ross St.
02:40Brown at the goal line was charged with offensive interference and then pitched the ball.
02:46Jared Goff, who went in for the touchdown, and then that was declined and the game was
02:49over.
02:49Crazy ending.
02:50Anyway, Mike Tomlin gets a big win for his Steelers.
02:52It looks like they're going to win the division.
02:54Certainly happy with the performance.
02:55You know, I'm just so appreciative of the men that I work with and the fight that they
03:01displayed individually and collectively.
03:04Certainly wasn't perfect.
03:05A lot of adversity, some of it created by us, but it didn't blink.
03:10And that's what's required this time of year.
03:13We also talked about the game's got to look a certain way this time of year.
03:17And it certainly did.
03:19We were able to run the ball and stop the run, and we kind of rode that wave in terms
03:24of controlling the game.
03:26Somebody on our network picked the Jacksonville Jaguars to go to the Super Bowl.
03:30I don't know who that was, but man, they're getting closer.
03:32We'll have to figure that out.
03:3334 to 20.
03:34The Jags go on the road and beat the Broncos.
03:37They have the number one record right now going in the AFC right there with New England.
03:42Big performance again from Trevor Lawrence, who's been so fantastic down the stretch.
03:46The Broncos were favored.
03:47The Jaguars win.
03:48Probably the biggest win in the Liam Cohen era, and he talked about that after the game.
03:52Very impressed.
03:54You know, very impressed with the way these guys have continued to compete.
03:58Trevor, the offensive line, had to shuffle a few things.
04:02I thought they protected really well.
04:05Did some really good things in the past game.
04:07Parker Washington stepped up in a huge way.
04:12You know, all those guys.
04:13I think he threw it to about seven different receivers in the game, whatever it was.
04:17And guys just keep battling and making plays.
04:20Meanwhile, the Carolina Panthers are now in the driver's seat.
04:24Who had that one in the NFC South?
04:26The Bucs, the two and a half point favorites, get upset on a game-sealing interception by Baker Mayfield at the end of the game.
04:33Very odd game plan, too, for Tampa Bay.
04:35Not throwing the ball all that much in this one.
04:36Very strange.
04:37Anyway, Dave Canales will take it.
04:39His Panthers, all they need to do is win out to win the division.
04:41Okay.
04:43Came down to taking care of the ball.
04:44We got one.
04:45You know, and it was the right one.
04:47You know, as a group, we talked about moments.
04:50Moments that come up.
04:51And, you know, we had a last drive where we had to put it together to get ourselves to get points and take the lead.
04:56The offense came together and made some plays right there on that drive.
04:59And then defensively, you know, they were moving the ball pretty good right there on that drive.
05:02And, you know, Christian Roseboom had an opportunity on one.
05:06The defense didn't get it.
05:08But just keep playing ball.
05:09Keep playing ball.
05:10Being in the right spots and good things come to you when that happens.
05:13So I'm really proud of the group, the way that they stay together.
05:16Talk the whole time.
05:17A lot of great communication happening on the sideline.
05:19Just drive in and drive out.
05:21Trying to figure out the different things on both sides that was happening.
05:24And got to give a lot of credit to the Bucs.
05:26The way they played us made it really hard for us to run the ball today with mixed success.
05:31But they settled into some things.
05:32And, you know, Bryce and the boys made some plays to keep us alive.
05:37Buffalo Bills do not cover, but they win against the upstart Cleveland Browns.
05:41There seem to play a lot of close games these days.
05:4323-20 Buffalo wins.
05:44They're probably headed to the playoffs as well.
05:46All right, college football.
05:48Over the weekend, in case you missed the playoff, the big upset of the weekend was Miami taking care of Texas A&M.
05:54A&M was all the way down to about two and a half three-point favorites at kickoff.
05:57It was a very highly contested defensive battle that Miami wins 10-3 thanks to seven sacks of Texas A&M.
06:07The Aggies had the ball on the goal line or close to it toward the end of the game.
06:10They could not come through.
06:11Mario Cristobal's era now coming to a crescendo.
06:15Of course, they will now play Ohio State next round.
06:18But here's a recap from Cristobal over the win against Texas A&M.
06:21You know, resiliency, toughness, just found a way to continue to just keep, you know, pushing through some difficult situations.
06:29The defense was off the charts the entire day.
06:33We found ourselves finally running the football against some chunk yardage.
06:36It took a while.
06:38We were all over the place.
06:38You know, we were up and down on offense.
06:40And just a great response to turn the ball over both by the defense getting the ball back and the offense going right down the field and scoring.
06:48And then I said to the guys coming back, there's still another major step we have to take as a program to finish.
06:56I think the last two games showed that.
06:58And so it's a rallying cry to the guys that are still here and still have time to play.
07:02But I don't think we can turn our back on the guys who just finished their careers here and everything that they accomplished and everything that they did for Texas A&M football.
07:12Oklahoma took an early lead on Friday night on Alabama, but the Crimson Tide come all the way back to win 34-24.
07:19I believe the score was 17-0 Sooners with Alabama coming back to win.
07:23By the way, Kalen DeBoer's first college football win as the head coach at Alabama, although Michigan still has not hired their new head coach as well.
07:32The rest of the games, well, let's be honest.
07:34College football playoff has got to get this fixed.
07:37Somehow got to create a system where you don't have these kind of blowouts.
07:41Oregon defeated JMU 51-34.
07:44At least James Madison covered the point spread in this one, but it was not competitive from start to finish.
07:49So Oregon moves on to the next round.
07:52And then also Ole Miss took care of business against Tulane.
07:56In case you missed that one, it was a dud.
07:5841-10, second straight time this season that Mississippi crushed Tulane.
08:02They were 16.5-point favorites.
08:05The game was over at halftime because the Rebels had 497 total yards of offense.
08:12But got to get this figured out a little bit with college football's playoff.
08:17Needless to say, also, Minukata Murikami has signed a two-year contract with the Chicago White Sox in the hot stove.
08:26Thirty-four million dollars.
08:27He had 56 home runs a few years ago.
08:29He had 56 home runs a few years ago.
