00:00I was just reading that interview with you in the LA Times or whatever it was.
00:03Some local rock station played Welcome to the Jungle,
00:05and I'll never forget hearing that for the first time.
00:07That was the first time I heard it. I'm like, what is this?
00:09That was 100% this radio station.
00:12Okay.
00:12This is all I listened to when I was a teenager, when I was a kid even.
00:16I mean, it was what you listened to.
00:19Rock, metal, frog, and everything in between.
00:22Welcome to this episode of Talkin' Rock with Meltdown.
00:26Don't forget to follow the audio-only Talkin' Rock podcast on all podcast platforms.
00:31And now, it's time for today's conversation.
00:34Here's Meltdown.
00:35Hey guys, Meltdown here with the Violin Hour in the studio, of course.
00:38They're out on tour right now, touring with the guys from Steel Panther.
00:41One of my favorite bands. I've seen them in, man, I can't tell you how many states.
00:45I saw them when they were in metal school.
00:47Same.
00:48Yeah. In 2004, I think, was the first time I ever saw them.
00:51Yeah, when I first moved to LA, they were playing at the Viper Room every Monday night.
00:55And guess where I was every Monday night?
00:57Yeah. Wow. Did you tell them about that?
01:01I'll tell them eventually.
01:03Oh, really? You've never...
01:04I don't think I've ever told them that.
01:06You'd think that they would just remember that, right?
01:07Of course.
01:09I saw them at the Roxy in 2004, and this girl who I know, Erica, who you may actually know,
01:13she says, just go up to the guy at the front door and tell him you know me or something.
01:17He goes, that's great, $12.
01:20Anyways, Carla Harvey's here.
01:21Are you still keeping the Harvey?
01:24I'm, you know, once a Harvey, always a Harvey.
01:26So I think I'm going to be a Harvey forever.
01:28I didn't want to, like, I didn't want to, you know, offend you or nothing, but we'll talk
01:31about that here in a bit.
01:32But introduce your band here, the Violin Hour.
01:33Awesome.
01:34So Carla Vocals, you guys want to introduce yourselves?
01:37Go ahead.
01:37Hi, I'm Sasha.
01:38I'm the drummer.
01:39I'm Kiana, the lead guitarist.
01:41Hi, I'm Juwan, the bassist.
01:43I'm Allie K.
01:44I play guitar and backup vocals.
01:47Now, correct me if I'm wrong.
01:49Did you guys record this record and then bring the girls in, or how did this work?
01:53So, yeah, out of necessity, you know, when I left Butcher Babies, I had basically myself
01:59and then an incredibly talented person that I happened to live with.
02:03So we worked together to, you know, to write all the songs for the Violin Hour, but it was
02:08never going to be a Carly and Carla.
02:10I just made a little name for us.
02:13It was never going to be a Carla and Charlie project.
02:17I wanted a band, and that was something I was very passionate about.
02:21So as soon as I was done writing the first batch of songs, I set out to look for, you
02:27know, the perfect bandmates, and I really, really wanted to have an all-girl band.
02:31It's been a dream of mine my whole life to have an all-girl band, and man, the comments,
02:35well, you're never going to find that.
02:37That's going to suck.
02:37You're never going to find the right people, and it took a minute, but each one of these
02:43girls is incredible, and I'm so lucky that I found them, and of course, they'll be featured
02:49on the next album, which will be out in the spring, and then hopefully we'll start writing
02:53songs together, too.
02:54So it's really exciting.
02:57That's awesome.
02:57So with you guys, first of all, tell me where you're all from, and tell me about the process
03:02of auditioning for Carla.
03:07So go ahead, start with you.
03:08Oh, I'm from Los Angeles.
03:11I've lived it my whole life, and I came into Carla's band last, really.
03:16A mutual friend had reached out to me and reached out to Carla that she was looking for a guitarist,
03:23so we messaged, we talked, and then I sent in some videos doing some singing, and she
03:29liked me enough.
03:30She didn't just send in some videos, though.
03:31She sent in, so I had already picked somebody else, and I hate saying that, but it's the
03:38truth, and then Allie sent in videos, and I was like, all right, I got to make a really
03:43tough call and say, never mind, because I had to have Allie in the band.
03:47And she was the perfect finishing touch for us.
03:52How about you?
03:55Well, it's a long story, but I'll keep it short.
03:58So I'm from Los Angeles as well.
04:01Most of us are.
04:02I've lived in Los Angeles my whole life, and I have been playing music for the past 15
04:08years with my family band, and then I've known these two girls for the past 10-plus years.
04:16We all used to be teenagers playing these shows around, like, L.A., like, in Southern
04:22California, and basically they hit me up around, like, the beginning of August saying, like,
04:26hey, there's a really great opportunity for an all-female, like, rock band, and I was
04:32like, as soon as they said all-female rock band, and I was already, like, doing other
04:36little projects with, like, mainly, like, all males, I was like, please save me.
04:41Like, I'm in.
04:42And so, yeah, they hit me up, and, yeah, I just knew it was going to be really good because
04:47I've known them for so long.
04:48Yeah, you say the family band.
04:50She does have a little bit of a Partridge family vibe.
04:52Do I?
04:54Meets Scooby-Doo or something.
04:55I don't know.
04:56Scooby-Doo.
04:56Yeah, so I already knew, like, I was very comfortable with them, and I've seen them
05:01over the years and played gigs with them.
05:03Like, we've kind of, like, grown up together in a sort of way, so as soon as they hit me
05:08up for the opportunity, I was, I didn't even know Carla or any, what I was getting myself
05:13into, but I just knew I love music.
05:15Like, I love jamming with females and all-female rock band, and I love rock, so it was like,
05:20I was like, yeah, let's do it.
05:21Like, why not, you know?
05:22Yeah, and you guys are from Los Angeles, too, then?
05:24Yes, we're actually sisters.
05:25Okay, so everyone's...
05:26Yeah, we're sisters.
05:27Oh, okay.
05:27Oh, yeah, that's right.
05:28Yeah, there's sisters, and I forgot about that.
05:30Yeah.
05:30Yeah, we're both from Los Angeles.
05:32So, basically, I got a message on Instagram.
05:35It was from Carla, and I remember looking at him going, like, I gotta be catfished.
05:40We were talking about it last night, and it was the same time that Brittany Furlan had
05:44been, had the catfishing thing with Ronnie Radke.
05:47Oh, yeah.
05:47And so, her exact words was like, am I being Ronnie Radke right now?
05:51I was like, yeah, meet me in my house for a rehearsal.
05:54So, I was like, there's no way.
05:56And I actually called my sister, and at the time, it looked like they already maybe had,
06:01like, a lineup maybe going on.
06:03And so, they just hit me up as a lead guitarist, and I was like, uh, sure, you know?
06:08And my sister was like, make sure that's legit.
06:10And so, I looked it up, and I was like, no, sure enough, it is the Carla Harvey, you know,
06:14that's hitting me up.
06:14So, I told her, I was like, of course, I'm interested.
06:16Let's do this.
06:17And so, she's like, well, send me a video.
06:19And I was like, okay.
06:20So, I remember just picking the first song.
06:22I'm like, what could I learn fast?
06:23I was like, let's do sick ones.
06:25And then, I was learning it, and then, I got to the John Faisal, and I was like, oh, this is
06:29not okay.
06:30You know, I have my work cut out.
06:31So, I sent it actually pretty fast.
06:33Learned it, sent it, and she messaged me, and she just put, yay, thank you.
06:39And I was like, oh, great.
06:40I was like, I don't know if I got this gig.
06:42I was like, oh, well.
06:43And next thing you know, I was in a group chat with a bunch of girls, and she's like,
06:48you know, you're the lead guitarist, and here's all the whole lineup.
06:51Well, I guess that lineup at the time, it just wasn't working out.
06:55You know, there was a lot of obstacles, and the drummer at the time kind of just didn't
07:04show up to the rehearsal that we were supposed to have.
07:06Literally didn't show up, and texted two weeks later, hey, are we still having a rehearsal?
07:10So, I remember Charlie actually messaging in the group chat and was like, I'll be there.
07:16And I was like, oh, great.
07:17And I wasn't nervous for him actually being there.
07:20I was just excited because I'm a huge thrash metal fan.
07:23And I grew up with all that stuff.
07:25So, I'm like, Charlie Benante's going to be at the rehearsal?
07:28So, he came, and we played for him, and he played with us.
07:33And basically, at the end of the rehearsal, he just really liked it.
07:37And he was like, you're in?
07:39And I guess everyone would go.
07:39He's like, you're in, everyone else is out.
07:42And he's just like, well, do you know a drummer?
07:44I was like, well, actually, I do.
07:47And then that goes to you.
07:48So, it was funny because I got the call from my sister, which is really random because it doesn't really call.
07:57But it was like on a weird time.
07:59And I remember being like, oh, okay.
08:01And so, I answered it, and she was like, so, you know.
08:04And we actually were in a Pantera tribute together.
08:06I was going to say, is this a VP dime thing?
08:08You guys have to travel together, right?
08:09So, we were in a Pantera tribute, but I kind of went away from that for a little bit.
08:14I took a little bit of a hiatus just for life stuff.
08:16And when she gave me the call, she was like, you know, so, I did the rehearsal with Carla Harvey's band yesterday,
08:24but the drummer didn't show up, and they're actually looking for a drummer.
08:28And I thought of you, you know.
08:30And I was like, hell yeah.
08:32Like, yeah, I'll definitely do it.
08:34I didn't even have to think twice.
08:35And right away, I, you know, I was like, send me all the songs, and I'll learn them.
08:40And we learned them, I learned them in a week.
08:43And then we sent the videos to both Charlie and Carla.
08:46And, yeah, they really liked it, because I'm here now.
08:50That's awesome.
08:50But, you know, Carla, it's like one thing to get musicians, but then you've got to live with them on the road, too.
08:55I mean, it's going pretty well.
08:57Actually, I'm surprised at how well it's going.
08:59I mean, it's hard to get out on the road, especially if it's your first time on the road.
09:03And just dealing with just the life stuff, like, you know, getting up, finding your bathroom, doing all the things.
09:10And we're on a bandwagon.
09:12We're not on a full bus, so we have beds at least asleep, and we've got, you know, all the necessities.
09:17But it is hard.
09:18It's a jar to your system to be out there on the road.
09:22And they're handling it so well.
09:24And, you know, I think the assumption is that girls can't, you know, coexist without being in catfights every day or getting on each other's nerves.
09:35But it's been really comfortable, really comfortable.
09:38And I think that we're all learning each other's personalities and maybe when to step back if someone's having a bad day.
09:44But there hasn't even really been bad days yet, I don't think.
09:48You know, nothing catastrophic.
09:49And we're having a great time.
09:50It's, you know, I don't know.
09:52I'm really, I'm super excited about it.
09:55Yeah.
09:55Yeah.
09:56I think a lot of us have worked with female musicians, too.
09:59We've all come from a background.
10:01We've all done female, like, just bands in general.
10:05So we just kind of, it just meshed really well.
10:08Yeah.
10:08And she just mentioned John Five, of course, who's from here.
10:12And he got Zach Wilde on the song as well.
10:14So tell me about working with John Five.
10:16And did the Detroit thing connect you guys or you just know him for years?
10:19Well, I toured with John in 2013 on Mayhem Fest.
10:23I sang on one of his songs.
10:25Oh, that's right.
10:25It was like I said a couple words on one of his songs.
10:27So he owed me a favor.
10:28Yeah, that's right.
10:29So, yeah, no, he's great.
10:32He's a great friend.
10:34And, you know, we asked him to do the solo.
10:36And when I asked Zach and John to do the solos, I didn't ask for anything specific.
10:42I said, listen to it and see what you want to do with it.
10:44I'm not going to tell them what to play.
10:45And when I got, you know, John Five's solo back, I literally burst out into tears because
10:51it was the most wild, cool thing I had heard in so long.
10:55And I could not believe that it was for my song.
10:58You know, he sent it isolated to me in a text.
11:02And I just like my mind was blown that that's where he went with that song.
11:08And it's absolutely perfect.
11:09It's chaotic.
11:10It's I'm obsessed with it.
11:12It really made the song.
11:14And I was going to say, whose job is it to emulate it every?
11:17Kiana.
11:18OK.
11:19Yeah.
11:20How hard is it?
11:21I mean, John, he's awesome.
11:22Yeah, he's really good.
11:24It could be difficult sometimes, especially like this weather.
11:27I'm like, I got to have my hands warmed up.
11:28But no, yeah, I just kind of dissected it, learned it, and then try to get all the effects.
11:35He has a lot of effects on it.
11:36So it's one of the funner solos.
11:39Like, you know, it's just, well, actually, all the solos are really good.
11:41They're all fun, you know, and get to play all those guys' stuff.
11:45These are like people that I grew up with.
11:47So it's like, this is really cool.
11:49You know, I get to play that.
11:51Yeah, and you guys are going to be at the Machine Shop tomorrow.
11:53You've played at the Machine Shop.
11:54Yeah.
11:54Yeah, I was going to say, Dave, you guys have never been there before.
11:57Awesome place.
11:59The bands love playing the Machine Shop for good reason.
12:02You'll find out why, because Kevin and his staff are so great.
12:04The place is awesome.
12:06And I think it's sold out, right?
12:07It's sold out tomorrow, and it's an iconic place.
12:09And it's always a party.
12:11So I'm excited to, you know, and it's always fun for me to play a hometown show.
12:15You know, always.
12:16Of course, my mom's going to be there, my dad.
12:19And just, you know, it's just fun.
12:22Friends from high school come.
12:23And it's one big party night.
12:24That's so cool.
12:25Yeah, you forget about that sometimes.
12:28So did your mom and dad, I'm assuming they went to your wedding, right?
12:32Yes.
12:32It was like the rock and roll wedding of the decade, it seems like.
12:35So tell me about that.
12:36You got to throw a party.
12:38Yeah, that was like an awesome party.
12:39I know a lot of my friends there, Chris Jericho and Tim I was just talking about a little while ago.
12:44And man, what a party.
12:45Yeah, well, like I said, if you're going to do something, you got to do it big, right?
12:48Yeah.
12:49So I never, I'm not the kind of girl who ever thought about weddings or anything like that.
12:53I always thought more about my funeral and what I was going to wear to my funeral and weird stuff like that.
12:59Perfectly normal.
13:00Yeah.
13:00Maybe they're the same, one and the same weddings and funerals.
13:03I don't know.
13:04But yeah, I figured that we'd throw a big party and everyone was traveling to Las Vegas.
13:11We had over 200 people go to Las Vegas to see it.
13:15So you got to show them a good time, right?
13:17No, it looked like it was really fun.
13:19I don't go to weddings.
13:20I don't really like them, but I might have gone to that one.
13:23I don't know.
13:23I just got married, myself and my wife, we just got married in Vegas.
13:28I'm like, I don't even want to bother with a wedding.
13:30Yeah.
13:31Well, Vegas is fun.
13:32Vegas is the place for weddings.
13:33Yeah.
13:34The best piece of advice I ever got, which I will tell you real fast and I'll name drop,
13:38Kid Rock's dad told me, my wife and I, he goes, you should take your wife out.
13:43You know, you guys should go out at least once a week.
13:45And so we do.
13:46We go out twice a week.
13:47I told him before he passed away, I go, that was great advice you gave me.
13:50I go, we go out twice a week.
13:51I go out on Tuesday and she goes out on Thursday.
13:53See there, you guys can, all right.
13:57Moving on.
13:58But so tell me about the new record.
14:01You said you already have some stuff lined up for next year?
14:03Yeah.
14:03One of the songs that is going to be on the new record we're playing, it's the first song
14:06on our set and it's banger.
14:08It's incredible.
14:09I mean, I love it.
14:10It's so much fun to play.
14:12You know, a lot of the stuff on the new album is really, really heavy.
14:16And the new one that's coming out?
14:17The new one that's coming out in the spring.
14:19It's heavier than what you have out now.
14:21Yeah.
14:22So I think that the first, the first EP, I had a lot of things to say that I had bottled
14:28up, you know, and I had a lot of emotions and I wanted to also explore sides of myself
14:32that I never got to in Butcher Babies.
14:36So there's songs like The Violent Hour that are very different.
14:40Sex and Cigarettes, which is the first song that I wrote for The Violent Hour, is very
14:44different than anything I've ever written.
14:45It's very 90s, you know, kind of poppy, but also has a really, you know, slamming bridge
14:51to it and, and ending.
14:53But I just wanted to, I wanted to concentrate on, on songwriting that wasn't necessarily
14:59metal.
15:00And like Heller Hollywood is, is, is very Guns N' Roses Aerosmith to me.
15:06And that's the kind of stuff that I loved when I was a kid, you know, growing up.
15:11That's what I was really inspired by.
15:13So I wanted to play into, to all of that, all those inspirations.
15:17And so, um, you know, this first Violent Hour EP has so many different like flavors
15:23on it and we're keeping that up on the, on the full length, but also, um, throwing in
15:28some more like thrash elements and, um, just a little bit more metal.
15:31Yeah.
15:32I was going to say, cause this record does sound different than anything you did with
15:34the, uh, with the Butcher Babies.
15:35It's funny.
15:36You mentioned Guns N' Roses.
15:37I was just reading that interview with you in the LA Times or whatever it was.
15:40And you said that, um, you know, the local rock station, maybe it was riff.
15:44I don't know.
15:44But, uh, some local rock station played Welcome to the Jungle.
15:47And I'll never forget hearing that for the first time.
15:50That was the first time I heard it.
15:50I'm like, what is this?
15:52That was 100% this radio station.
15:54Okay.
15:54This is all I listened to when I was a teenager, when I was a kid, even, I mean, it was what
15:59you listened to.
16:00So for forever.
16:01So I, yeah, I was a kid and it came on the radio and I was sitting in the backseat of
16:05my stepdad's car and all the hair raised up on my arms.
16:09Like, and that was when I knew I loved music.
16:13Like, like it wasn't just, I liked music and I like, I loved music and I wanted to be a
16:19part of it.
16:19And then when I saw the pictures of Guns N' Roses, I was like, I mean, I still wear motorcycle
16:27boots every day of my life to this day.
16:30I mean, I just, it just, when there's that moment when you're a kid and you kind of become
16:36who you're going to be.
16:36And that's, it was like that moment.
16:39What was your guys' musical, like, uh, gateway?
16:43You know, I had a dad that was a metalhead, hard rocks.
16:46I grew up with a bunch of stuff, you know?
16:48Um, one of my favorite bands were actually like what inspired me was, um, Marty Freeman
16:53from Megadeth.
16:54Yeah.
16:55I would just listen to that so much.
16:57And I was like, I want to be that.
16:58So the first song I ever tried to learn was like Holy Wars.
17:00Oh, for God's sake.
17:02So I was like into that, you know, all types of bands, you know, they said that I was dancing
17:08in diapers, listening to Kiss when I was a kid, you know, and this is just my sister
17:12and I, we just always grew up with hard rock, rock, um, metal.
17:16That was just us, you know?
17:18Yeah.
17:18What about you guys?
17:21Oh man.
17:22I've listened to so much different music, even from a young age.
17:25I think just from my dad's influences with, you know, classic rock metal.
17:30I remember him playing Rammstein for me when I was very young and then taking me to a Rammstein
17:35concert.
17:36It sounds like good parenting.
17:37Yeah.
17:38Um, but then also, I mean, finding love and stuff like, uh, Fleetwood Mac and David Bowie
17:44were really big inspirations for me.
17:46And I kind of fall into some of the fusion world as well with Mike Stern on guitar.
17:50Um, like all over the, all over the place, but, um, I love taking as much influence from
17:55those, those, uh, musicians as possible, even to my playing now.
17:59So, yeah, um, same, like I, my dad's influence, um, musically had a big part of like what I've
18:07really, uh, listened to, grown up listening to, uh, like bands like Molly crew, enough's
18:13enough.
18:13Like my dad, I mean, anywhere we went, anywhere we drove for errands or anything we were doing,
18:18he always had that type of music playing, but then my mom, like Tom Petty and like, um,
18:24like the Carpenters again, from like my dad, um, voices like that, listening like lyrics
18:29and it moved to like, uh, had a lot of like music inspiration for me to like, kind of like,
18:35um, to do for myself.
18:36And, uh, yeah, you know, I love Beach Bunny, Paramore.
18:40I, I have a very diverse type of red hot chili peppers, like, you know, things I've always
18:45grown up, my dad was always playing, um, in our car, in our Hummer, you know?
18:49So, yeah, yeah, I think I was talking about this the other day, you know, I went and saw
18:52Avatar the other day and you know, I'm not young and I loved it and I thought that there
18:57was going to be this point in my life where I'd be like, yeah, I'm going to put this stuff
19:00away.
19:00Now, 35 years into my career, here we are.
19:02And I'm still going to all these metal shows.
19:04I guess it probably never leaves you.
19:05Right.
19:05I would hope it doesn't.
19:07I mean, I think music is, is one of those things that keeps you young and it keeps you fresh and it
19:11keeps you alive.
19:12So I know that, you know, I was raised a lot by my grandmother and my grandpa and they
19:18would go see live music together every single, like Monday and Wednesday, they would go to
19:23blues bars together till the day he died.
19:26He, you know, um, so music was, like I said, I just see how it keeps people together.
19:32It keeps people young and, uh, yeah, never, you can't stop listening or playing or going
19:38to shows.
19:38Yeah.
19:39My dad at my age would never have gone to see a show like what I saw the other night.
19:42There's no question about it.
19:43I gave him TSO tickets.
19:45I thought he is going to love this.
19:46He hated it.
19:47It's too loud.
19:48It's too bright.
19:51But anyways, well, man, 2025 has been good.
19:54He got a lot of stuff happening in 2026 as well.
19:56It sounds like you got a 26 is going to be pretty big for us.
19:59We've got a lot of cool stuff going on that we can't announce yet.
20:02But the, the, I think from like August on, it's going to be like nonstop for us.
20:07And the one thing we can talk about is we were going on the Chris Jericho cruise.
20:10We're doing that.
20:10That's going to be fun.
20:11Yeah.
20:11A little rock wrestling rager.
20:13We have NAMM in January.
20:15Oh yeah.
20:15In January, we're doing the NAMM show.
20:17We're doing a show with Living Color.
20:18I'm so excited for that.
20:20That's going to be really fun.
20:21Really cool.
20:21Yeah.
20:21Have you guys met John five before?
20:24I don't know.
20:25He is one of the nicest guys.
20:26Super nice.
20:27Yeah.
20:28John's great.
20:28And he's from the east side here, far away from where you grew up.
20:31It's the east side and the west side here are two, two different worlds.
20:33Very different worlds.
20:34Yeah.
20:34But John's great.
20:36I just saw him a couple of weeks ago.
20:37He's so good.
20:39He never misses a note.
20:41It seems like.
20:42Nope.
20:43But yeah.
20:43And then Jericho, that thing sounds like fun.
20:46I know that he does that every year, but he's a good guy.
20:48I've known him for quite a while.
20:50He's such a kind person and helpful person.
20:53And just like, just like such a big spirit, you know?
20:58He's great.
20:58And he's a worldwide celebrity.
21:01Oh yeah.
21:02Whenever you go anywhere with Jericho, it's nonstop autographs and photos for him.
21:07He doesn't act like it though.
21:08He doesn't act like it at all.
21:09Yeah.
21:09He's very like sincere and genuine.
21:11Yeah.
21:11I liked him a lot.
21:12We got him at the wedding too.
21:14Oh, you guys are all at the wedding then?
21:15Yeah.
21:15We're all there.
21:16Did you guys jam on stage?
21:17I don't know who.
21:18No.
21:18No?
21:19I didn't, you know, I didn't want to sing or do anything at my, I just got completely wasted
21:24and danced all night.
21:25She was all night.
21:26You enjoyed yourself.
21:27I, uh, I just wanted to get, get crunk.
21:32Well, I'm so happy for you.
21:34It's, uh, it's cool.
21:35So have you heard the new Anthrax record?
21:36I have a time or two.
21:39Okay.
21:41Anything you could say about it without getting in trouble?
21:43I don't want to get you in trouble.
21:44Um, no, I actually, to be honest with you, I, I, I, I love it.
21:48I think it's, I mean, I was, had just started dating Charlie when he was in actually our first
21:54date.
21:55I picked him up from the studio when he was recording, um, for all Kings.
22:00So I was there for that.
22:02And, um, I, I think this album is better than that album.
22:06That album's pretty good.
22:07As a kid, you said that you, uh, you know, you thought more about your funeral than your
22:10wedding.
22:10Uh, who could have ever thunk that, you know, the God of thunder would be there officiating
22:14your wedding.
22:15That's incredible.
22:16Yeah.
22:16That was pretty incredible.
22:18If I just understate it.
22:22Yeah.
22:22I mean, you know, I'm still, I, I'm, I'm very lucky for everything that ever happens to
22:29me.
22:29You know what I mean?
22:30I, I feel very privileged to, um, to have the moments that I have, but, and even more
22:35so to be able to share moments like that with people that I love who may never ever get
22:40a chance to have a moment like that.
22:41Like I got more of a kick out of seeing my friends interact with him.
22:46If that makes sense.
22:47No, it makes total friends whose minds were completely blown.
22:51Um, I have a next door neighbor now I live in the suburbs now in Chicago, right?
22:56And I have a next door neighbor that I go to orange theory with in the morning.
22:58And I saw her speaking Yiddish with fucking Jean.
23:01Sorry.
23:02I can't say that.
23:03You're fine.
23:03You're fine.
23:03I can't, I saw her speaking Yiddish with Jean Simmons and it was like, that's crazy.
23:07So it's, it's more like I've seen a lot of things.
23:11I've gotten to do a lot of things.
23:12I'm very lucky.
23:13And if I can show someone else a good time, then I think that's what life's about.
23:17I completely understand a hundred percent because like, I'm the same way.
23:22I've been able to do a lot of cool things in my life and I like to share those experiences
23:24with other people.
23:25Yeah.
23:26That's, I guess, you know, to kind of put it how I like to put it, it's like, you
23:29know, who gets to go, you know, go get their picture taken in the hallway at the machine
23:33shop.
23:33Like I've done that a bunch of times when some people think that's like the really the, you know,
23:37the coolest thing.
23:37Yeah.
23:38And honestly, too, I find more joy in like small moments now, like finding an awesome
23:42latte at a local coffee shop.
23:44And maybe that sounds silly too, but I just like, I think the little moments are where
23:48it's at rather than like the big giant moment.
23:50One of my friends one time told me, I never forget this 30 years ago, he goes, it's the
23:54little things.
23:55It is.
23:56Yeah.
23:56There's no doubt about it.
23:57Well, you guys are, like I said, sold off show at the machine shop.
24:00You're touring till what, just a couple more shows here a little bit.
24:03And then you're going to take the, take the winner off.
24:05We get to go home December 22nd and go spend Christmas with our families.
24:09Got a show in January and some exciting stuff coming up in the spring and then the fall.
24:14Well, that's awesome.
24:15Well, Carla and girls, thank you guys so much for coming in the Violent Hour.
24:19Oh, by the way, before I forget, what's with the Lords of Acid?
24:21Are you, I mean, what's happening with that right now?
24:22Yeah.
24:23So I just finished recording the vocals for the new Lords of Acid album.
24:26Another, and that's another like pinch me thing.
24:28You know, I was obsessed.
24:28Growing up in Detroit, it's like you've got such a weird variety of music that you love.
24:34It's like Guns N' Roses, Pantera, and throwing some electronic weird dance music like Lords of Acid.
24:39But I used to sneak out and go to, go to City Club, dance all night to Lords of Acid.
24:47And so when they asked me to be the Acid Queen, I was like, yes, yes, and yes.
24:52And so it's great.
24:53It's low commitment, you know.
24:56They don't tour very often.
24:58But to be, have my voice on a record that means so much to me is like huge for me.
25:04And then we'll probably do a tour sometime this year and come back through town.
25:08So if you're around, you got to come see the show.
25:09It's completely different from everything else that I do, but so much fun.
25:13I'm like a different person up there.
25:14I can't wait to see that.
25:15Yeah, that's awesome.
25:17And yeah, so you said in 2026, are we doing some dates with them?
25:19Yeah.
25:20So just some dates sporadically here and there?
25:22I think we will have a tour in the spring.
25:24Okay.
25:24Yeah.
25:25And then, okay, touring in spring, got this band in the summertime and dropping records.
25:29Yeah, you know, this band is my priority.
25:32So, you know, this is like what, this is my baby.
25:36And we're going to take it as far as it'll go.
25:39But when I have off time, I'll be in the bus with Lords of Acid.
25:44There you go.
25:44Well, thank you guys so much for coming in and enjoy Detroit.
25:50Yes.
25:50Thank you for having us.
25:51Yeah, thanks.
25:53You
