00:36the the proud owners of the soon to be uh rock and brews coming up in royal oak and uh uh dan we're
00:42just talking about this off the air so tell us some of the other places that you guys own in royal oak
00:46as well yeah we own fifth avenue um we've had that for 15 years and we also have 526 main which is a
00:52dueling piano bar and tequila blue which is at sixth in in main and we've had that since 2018 so this
00:59will be our third venture um we're very very excited we think it's a absolutely outstanding
01:04concept that it's going to fit royal oak like a glove yeah and uh tony um when did this all when
01:09did this concept like come about how long ago danny danny and i just with danny's family discovered it
01:18in orlando florida i don't know maybe last year there's a rock and brews very cool we felt like
01:24it's this is this feels so royal oak and uh and we said you know we're gonna pursue this and we did
01:32we met the guys uh we met paul stanley on facetime and that kind of uh that sealed it for us uh and
01:40and uh we we've been working on this design for this building where we have a design call every
01:46week this design and decor and art package is gonna blow people away okay so uh well tony since
01:53you brought it up uh what were your thoughts about uh uh you know facetiming with a rock legend
01:57immediately you can and maybe he would say the same thing about us i don't know but immediately
02:03you felt the aura of of just just rock and roll royalty and he said he said to us uh nice to meet
02:12you guys we're looking forward to coming to royal oak it was just very cool and dan you're on that
02:17call as well i was i was and uh he couldn't have been nicer um he was just uh just a great guy very
02:26excited and of course they have such a connection to detroit um so they're really really pumped about
02:31coming into the market they're really looking forward to it it's just such a good fit and did
02:36he have his makeup on he actually did not he did not have the makeup on did you guys have makeup on
02:42well yeah i have to tell him danny i don't know how i could send you a picture actually if you if
02:49you'd like if if you were at fifth avenue or tequila blue this past halloween i i donned the kiss
02:57makeup and stood in front of the building and said we're ready he was in full gene simmons garb
03:03is pretty good costume i was impressed now wait a second was this was this like a hint as to what
03:08was coming or or was this yeah yeah it was a prelude yes for sure a little bit of a hint now
03:15how many times have you guys both uh seen kiss uh dan i'll start with you how many times have you
03:19i saw him once at pine knob i'm a i'm a little younger not as young as i'd like to be but um and they
03:26they were you know they're rock legends just an unbelievable performance they they crushed it
03:32it was awesome and what about you tony i i was with danny and uh yeah we had a lot of fun uh i wish i
03:40was at that tiger stadium we have this cool poster of them at tiger stadium i wasn't there um but i you
03:48know their songs are amazing i just uh that's all i sing in the car now his songs all right well remind
03:55me not to drive anywhere with you uh you singing especially but uh uh no that kiss show that was
04:01uh when i first got to detroit 1995 that was the first major event i went to and uh that's coming
04:07up on 30 years i think i want to say june 25th or june 26th you guys should do something special
04:12around that day yeah yeah absolutely yeah it's a great idea yeah so i got a lot of ideas so you could
04:19hire me to do your decor and everything who needs drew we got you right now that's right i don't even know
04:24who this drew guy is who is okay no it's cool that you're working with drew he's a great guy
04:29uh dan so you went down to rock and brews in florida you said now did you go down there to go
04:33there or did you just happen to kind of stumble across it we were uh on a family trip disney world
04:38and kind of stumbled across it and and when we uh when we purchased the building we were looking for
04:42a concept and it just it just kind of all fell into place it is kind of wild that here in detroit rock
04:47city there's really not a you know something devoted to kiss like that or or to rock and roll in
04:52general so this is gonna be really cool so tony he tells you about this and how long does it take
04:56to really get the the wheels turning and this whole thing to come to fruition we met we met the uh the
05:02franchisee in florida this this is a franchise obviously and uh they were very nice and connected
05:09us to the franchisor and uh we met the ceo they invited us out to they're so nice they invited us out
05:18to la uh and hosted us for the lions rams game and and and just embarrassed us uh you know in in front
05:26of in front of all the rams fans but uh yeah it was um they've been great they they were very excited
05:34to meet us and they once they i think they probably looked at what you know what we who we are in royal
05:40oak and what royal oak's all about and and this is the first time they have done a second generation
05:47they they've all their prior stores have been ground up so they flew out here they looked at the store
05:54at the building and they uh they said after we walked through they said we loved it and to be
06:00honest we weren't sure we were going to go forward um because we've never done this before but they love
06:05the building they said it's going to be a great fit the the rock and roll themed restaurant on the
06:10main floor live music on the second floor and just this design of the rooftop is is going to be
06:17it's really it's really going to be a flagship this this this uh rock and bruise is going to be a
06:22flagship for downtown royal oak and i think the whole metro detroit area now uh dan is this like just
06:28like pretty much just kiss stuff or is it just like rock and roll in general rock and roll in general
06:33it's all rock obviously there is there is a kiss component to it because paul and gene you know
06:38are part of the founders but it's it's all rock so you'll have beetles you'll have nirvana you'll have
06:44guns and roses chili peppers and there will be a um a focus on detroit music people people that are from
06:53the area that are you know very uh much into the rock history of rock and roll and um so we're really
07:01looking forward to to people um coming to the venue seeing um seeing all these different artists
07:07especially the detroit artists and and it's going to be it's almost like a rock and roll museum with
07:13some of these pieces and and what we're going to have in store for everyone it's very cool stuff
07:17and dan you're talking about pieces did did does kiss so they have like like the rock roll hall of
07:22fame has like uh extra stuff they kind of switch around in stores you're gonna have something like
07:25that yeah it's gonna be more like artwork or uh posters of um concerts memorabilia not so much
07:34memorabilia um so it's not like a hard rock kind of vibe it's more more art and and we'll have um
07:41concerts going on the tvs when sports aren't on of like a beatles concert from the from the 70s or
07:48or um guns and roses concerts so it'll be all music all the time like just to give an example of one of
07:55the art pieces we're going to have a 27 section and what that is going to be are going to be murals
08:00of of artists that sadly lost their lives at the age of 27 so it'll be hendrix it'll be um cobain
08:07um who else amy winehouse amy winehouse exactly right so that'll be on the morrison yeah yeah
08:15morrison things like that just really cool things that people that just love rock and roll really
08:20appreciate now of course you guys are starting to stop but do you guys have a um tony do you have an
08:25opening date yet or is that kind of still in flux we're the first week of march uh we don't have a
08:31date uh hopefully the first or second week of march and and it looks like we're we're gonna be good
08:37we're we're pushing hard and the and the franchisor is pushing us hard and uh and we're not you know
08:44we're not doing a lot of construction it's art and decor and it's just it's just gonna come together
08:48and and uh and be it'd be very exciting for everybody in in uh in the area and of course
08:54tony you're looking for uh employees or i guess as they call them roadies so how can people get a
08:59hold of you if they want to work at rock and bruise yeah we can't do much with this beautiful
09:04uh space without people to bring it alive so uh all this week and next week uh monday through saturday
09:122 p.m to 5 p.m they can go to 208 west fifth avenue in royal oak go to the location or they can go to
09:21royal oak at rock and bruise dot com royal oak at rock and bruise dot com and uh and communicate with
09:30us there but we're looking for some from some new rock and roll uh stars uh in in the area to uh to
09:38join us in this in this uh this very cool endeavor now are you actually in rock and bruise right now
09:44tony i'm at fifth avenue right now that's what i thought okay you said here i didn't know if you
09:49were like actually in there so well i'm looking i'm looking at rock and bruise okay got you well
09:54my birthday is on march 10th so you can open it up on my birthday and that'd be great and then we can
09:59we have the first major event be your birthday at rock and bruise see there you go perfect i couldn't
10:05have said it better myself uh make sure that make sure that drew signs off on it we can have we can
10:09have drew jump out of a cake or something okay that's enough for this conversation uh but uh no
10:15seriously uh dan and tony thank you guys so much uh for talking to us about this this is really cool
10:20and i saw this pop up on my uh feed a couple weeks ago i'm like why hasn't somebody done this before
10:25yeah and and a few comments that we've heard uh were about that like why why hasn't this happened
10:33because of of kiss and detroit rock city uh i guess i guess we're glad it hasn't i guess i guess
10:39we're uh meant to be it's destiny and uh we love royal oak we love metro detroit and so we're going
10:46to spread that love into the rock and roll world and i don't know if you guys know this or not but
10:51john five who's now the guitar player for motley crew is from uh gross point and really he actually
10:56has a kiss museum he's he's collected so much stuff he's got a kiss museum and i know you said you
11:02weren't doing a you know memorabilia and that kind of thing but uh john is one of the biggest kiss
11:06fans in all of the metro detroit area we have to meet him yeah we have to meet him yeah well good
