The Tobago People's Party (TPP) has not been bought out, no money pass, there would be no coalition or partnership. The words of TPP leader Farley Augustine as he spoke to the support of Watson Duke, leader of the PDP, going into the January 12th THA election and debunked any notion he was paid to garner support. On Monday Mr. Duke pledged support for Augustine in the election race. More in this Elizabeth Williams report.
00:00Let me be very clear, loosely clear, there is no coalition, there is no partnership, there is no teaming up, nobody ain't giving up the party to join nobody, nobody ain't asking nobody to give up the party to join anybody, no money ain't paying to anybody, because what we say Tobago is we.
00:21We don't need money to rally around each other and to be protective of each other and to be patriotic to this 116 square miles, and it's a clear understanding that this party is birthing Tobago, the other party is birthing Port of Spain.
00:37Mr. Augustin publicly acknowledged Mr. Duke's support in the campaign trail.
00:42I want to publicly acknowledge his support, notwithstanding the fact there is no secret that we have disagreed many times, and we have disagreed strongly many times.
00:54But the Tobago, I know, even when you and your brother disagree, you ever have a sibling or a big cousin, well I have no other brothers, but I have bigger cousins, and all they disagree at home, and all they go to school the next day, and one person play mad and jump on one other, all the disagreement out the door, and all are we fighting against the one outsider, that is the Tobago spirit.
01:20And that is what we are going to do in this election, so PNM is going to see black and blue and get a backside wash through and through, all 15 seats.
01:29And while stating he and Mr. Duke are one, similar to sentiments echoed by PDP leader Watson Duke during his media conference on Monday, Augustin had this message for PNM supporters.
01:42So we may fight each other in the house, we may have disagreements in the house, we may have different policy positions in the house, and that is normal for different people living in the same house, called Tobago.
01:56But when it comes to protecting these 116 square miles, nobody could do it like tobogonians, and that's why tonight I end by making a call, in the same way we're getting the support of Mr. Duke and his team, and calling on those who are PNM and you're fed up, and you know your leadership's not good, and you've vexed since the days they kick out Kelvin Charles.
02:17Take your vexation and join this team, because Tobago is we!
