00:00The PDP political leader says he has his ear to the ground and is listening to the people of Tobago.
00:08Watson Duke tells the Morning Edition there has been a political revolution in Tobago and he cannot turn back from it.
00:16Duke says while the Farley-Augustin-led TPP may have made mistakes, they deserve a second chance.
00:23And his support for the party should not be seen as coming like a thief in the night.
00:28It didn't come like a thief in the night, it came like Jesus in the night.
00:34As something good, not as something bad in the night.
00:39You see, you will get a different reaction based on what appears to you at night.
00:44If it's a good thing, you welcome it. If it's a bad thing, you reject it.
00:48Duke also hits back at detractors who claim that the PDP is in the doghouse or losing ground
00:54and that that is the reason he's now throwing his support behind the Tobago People's Party.
01:00The baddest dogs are always in the cage, in the doghouse. You know that.
01:06Don't you know that, Lance? The baddest dogs, the most fair dogs are always in the doghouse.
01:13So think again before you ask a question. The baddest dog is in the doghouse.
01:18Those who are in the yard, they are important.
01:21Duke says he has no interest in holding any position if Fali Augustine wins on January 12th,
01:28insisting that this is not an alliance, it is an agreement.
01:33He says Tobago unions are counting on the THC to drive real growth, development,
01:39and to create meaningful opportunities.
01:41The PDP leader adds that Tobago must now get serious about self-actualization,
01:48declaring that the days of the former administration and calling Trinidad for approval must come to an end.
01:56I'm not saying he was so weak that he made mistakes.
01:58I would have made mistakes. Everyone would have made mistakes.
02:01But the next four years here is where we are giving him because he's the better of the two options.
02:08PNM is not an option in Tobago. Not an option.
02:14On the U.S. military presence in Tobago, Duke says,
02:17both the Prime Minister and the Chief Secretary have already addressed the matter,
02:22and he will not weigh in publicly.
02:24He adds that while there has been much speculation, nothing concrete has happened.
02:31There are many voices out there already.
02:32My voice must only come out when it's absolutely necessary.
02:37Right now, there's no war.
02:40In either place, there's rumours of what the Bible says.
02:44There's no war. People are talking.
