00:00We're ready to go with the first race of the night, Daniel.
00:02I am excited, and if I'm Max Anstey right now, I'm feeling pretty good about my situation, too.
00:08There's a championship that can be won.
00:10He's perfect in the season, but Ralph, he hasn't been perfect today.
00:12And you've seen the gate choices along the bottom here.
00:15You see where Anstey is over in gate 5.
00:17You see him right there just to the right of what is known as the doghouse,
00:21to the right of the big W there.
00:23What do you think?
00:24Well, I like where he's at.
00:26It's not a bad spot, but he's going to have to be perfect.
00:27All right, in Sweden is a significant part of the world known as Scandinavia.
00:32This is where the Vikings sailed from on their quest to conquer foreign lands.
00:36These modern-day Vikings have sailed their 250 and 450 Drakars,
00:40or Dragon ships, from the last round in Australia to Stockholm, Sweden,
00:44looking to plunder, ransack, and lay waste to the competition.
00:48This is the highly coveted World Championship crown.
00:51Skål and drop the gate!
00:57Headed into turn one, and Anstey thought he was going to get the whole shot instead.
01:02He's going to be back behind at least two different riders.
01:05He's got Hicks in front of him in the lead,
01:07and McElrath right there on the number one in second place.
01:11And this is Australia all over again.
01:14It's the same two riders, maybe even Enzo Lopes,
01:16but Ralph, the Stark Michael Hicks is up front.
01:19He has been good all day long here in Stockholm,
01:23and he is showing it again here as they rip into the whoop pad for the first time at speed.
01:28They are ripping right now.
01:30This track is perfect.
01:31You're about to see the most aggressive attack laps all night long.
01:35This track is going to change.
01:37Oh, it's going to change.
01:38But right now, it is good, and it is fast.
01:40This is by far the softest dirt anybody can ever remember racing on.
01:45When you talk to the riders, they say in their entire career,
01:48this is quite possibly the softest dirt they've ever been on.
01:52Daniel, I'd love to find a couch as soft as some of this dirt.
01:55Yeah, well, a couch with Velcro,
01:56because these guys are being sucked to the ground at all times,
01:59and there's parts of the track that stay pretty good,
02:02and there's parts that are just going to absolutely run up.
02:05Whoa, shame.
02:06Well, and Anstey sitting right now in third,
02:09as we see McElrath get a little too wide and up into the tough blocks.
02:13He has been absolutely perfect in every race we've had so far this year,
02:16coming into round four here in Stockholm.
02:19He hasn't lost a race.
02:21Could this be the first one as we approach the halfway point?
02:24This might be it, and look, he's got two things on his mind.
02:28Bummer for Enzo Lopes, your Super Bowl winner,
02:30but if you're Max Anstey, you've got the championship.
02:33That's the big picture.
02:34That's what you want the most,
02:35but he's also been perfect, and these riders are so competitive.
02:38They don't know anything but winning, especially when you've won nine straight,
02:42so a lot of the play tonight for Max Anstey.
02:45And for Hicks, what an upset it would be if he could win this one.
02:50Good timing, too.
02:51I mean, think about the bosses are in town, Ralph.
02:53This would be the night to do it.
02:55Watch this for Enzo Lopes here on the 16.
02:58He's running in fourth.
02:59Oh, he just gets a little wide, and the rear end comes all the way around.
03:02Yeah, the rear was going out, but then the front kind of did a little bit of a tuck there, too,
03:06at the very end.
03:07But, I mean, Michael Hicks, Ralph, is not just winning.
03:11He's pulling away right now.
03:13I mean, he looks flawless.
03:14He was great at the Super Bowl, so I'm not surprised.
03:16No, nobody should be surprised at the fact that Michael Hicks is at the front of the field.
03:20This is an arena cross.
03:21He's well more than comfortable leading and winning races and championships in that form
03:26of two-wheel motorsport competition.
03:29Racetracks are a little bit tighter than what we're racing on here tonight.
03:33Yeah, not just the racetrack, but the environment.
03:35I mean, if you're Michael Hicks, you've got the defending champ behind you.
03:39You've got a former World Supercross champ behind you.
03:41He's pulling away, but it's a big night for Max, and he's starting to make his way back
03:45up to second.
03:46I love the way this is setting up while the track is still in race conditions.
03:49He's closing in on McElrath.
03:51The fight for second has developed here in race number one for SX2.
03:56Max Anstey looking to be perfect still in 2025 World Supercross competition in this 250
04:02category.
04:03He's got to get around McElrath and Hicks if he's going to pull it off.
04:08Not the best lap for Hicks.
04:09Oh, and look at this.
04:10McElrath coming after Hicks now, which could help Anstey close that gap.
04:14Absolutely.
04:15It's better for Max Anstey if this thing tightens up and becomes a could-
04:19suggested battle.
04:20And for Hicks, he just had a rough lap right there, and Shane is starting to warm up.
04:24Here they come.
04:26McElrath right alongside of Hicks.
04:28Hicks has led all the way, but with two laps to go, is he about to get the challenge he
04:32can't handle?
04:33McElrath and Anstey closing in quickly.
04:37Anstey on the Team GSM machine.
04:39Number 99 back in third.
04:40Going inside.
04:41Trying to get McElrath.
04:43Into the whoops they go.
04:44McElrath on the inside.
04:46He's got the lead.
04:47Anstey gets second.
04:48The fight rages on here in Stockholm.
04:51That's a piece of World Supercross right there.
04:53We've seen it all season.
04:54One wide.
04:55Two, three, four wide at times.
04:57And great move by Max Anstey to take advantage quick there, and don't let Shane McElrath get
05:02too comfortable out front.
05:03The reigning World Champ leads right now.
05:05The points leader and former World Champion on the 99, Max Anstey, sits in second.
05:10He wants the lead.
05:11He wants to stay perfect.
05:13He's trying to get to the outside.
05:14McElrath takes the line away.
05:17Great defense by Shane right there to hold him up, check him up in the corner.
05:20But, Ralph, this is Australia.
05:21Race three.
05:22All over again.
05:23Oh, he makes a mistake, does McElrath.
05:25And Anstey pounces and capitalizes.
05:28Max Anstey back into the lead in an SX2 race here in 2025.
05:32Oh, push him.
05:33Bump him out of the way.
05:35Keep that lead if you can.
05:36Pretty physical in that last corner.
05:38But Anstey around the outside of the berm coming to the finish line jump here.
05:43Getting ready to get into the final lap.
05:46Great race craft by both riders.
05:48Oh, Shane's going to lose a bunch of time there.
05:50But this is Max Anstey, Ralph.
05:52We see it from the front.
05:54If he gets a mid-pack start, it doesn't matter.
05:57He finds a way every single race.
05:59And if he can hold on, we'll be at 10-0.
06:02What a start to the night.
06:04Here he comes.
06:05Max Anstey is going to have one to go.
06:08That was a great lap, too.
06:1050.8.
06:11Shane playing a lot of defense.
06:13Did a 53.6.
06:14Obviously a lot slower.
06:16But for Anstey to not only get the lead, but also make enough room to be able to comfortably take the lines that he wants in this final lap.
06:23I mean, well played by the undefeated Max Anstey.
06:28And he's a few corners away from continuing the perfect season.
06:33And another 10 points towards his championship that he's craving here in 2025.
06:41Looking to become a multi-time champ here in the SX2 category.
06:46Anstey hasn't been the quickest all night, but he has found a way again to get himself to the front.
06:56Here he comes towards the finish line, John.
06:58Max Anstey.
06:59Perfect still in 2025.
07:03And he weathers the storm of Hicks and McElrath here in race number one.
07:08And we didn't see Cody shock much in that race.
07:10He had to make some passes, but that's super valuable for him because he's the one 28 points down.
07:16And he can't give up too much tonight if he wants to take this title fight to South Africa.
07:19So a quiet off-screen great ride by Cody shock to get to third.
07:25That's what he had to do.
07:27Hicks slips all the way back to fourth.
07:30Colin Park was fifth.
07:33Cole Thompson right behind him, of course, in sixth.
07:36Those two can't get away from each other this year.
07:38And there again is Max Anstey, your winner in SX2 race number one here, the Swedish GP.
07:48And let's go to Kristen, who's standing by with Max.
07:52Max, a physical and aggressive GP race win to stretch your win streak.
07:58This is the most physically tired I've seen you after a GP race.
08:02You worked hard for that one.
08:04Yeah, it's tricky, man.
08:05And this track, I mean, it was dead flat for us when we started.
08:08And it's really gnarly.
08:10So I'm pleased with that.
08:12Made a few changes within the break.
08:13I was struggling a little bit earlier, but felt comfy then.
08:16We've got two more to go.
08:18Anything can happen tonight.
08:19It's a tricky track and a lot of mistakes will be made.
08:21But we're locked in and ready to go again.
08:24Max, we look forward to watching you in G...
