00:00Yeah, think about this championship. It's a global series that's moving all over the world.
00:04We're in Buenos Aires. Then we went north to Vancouver and it was really cold out.
00:08Bike's going to run a certain way. It is hot. It is humid.
00:11We're in an open stadium here, so a complete change.
00:14And yes, the fuel plays a role. The mapping, everything plays a role.
00:18And this track's tough. There is some tricky rhythm sections.
00:21And when your bike's not working exactly how you know it to be, you second guess a little bit.
00:25So that's going to play a role as we get into this night.
00:28But one thing about being down a little bit on power, if we do have a slippery racetrack like we do,
00:34being down a little bit of power can help you get off the corners.
00:37Yeah, it might actually help in areas where you need it to be a little mellow or find a little bit of traction.
00:42So the jumps, that might be an issue when you're trying to navigate the power you need off of each obstacle.
00:47But maybe a little bit of uptick in aggression on the flat corners and the dry slick parts
00:52if your bike is operating at a little bit of a deficiency.
00:55There's the Arby's back number 16 of Enzo Lopes.
00:58The Brazilian rider.
00:59We know everybody down there in Brazil tuned in watching him, even though it's very early in the morning over there right now.
01:05But they're huge fans of Supercross and huge fans of Enzo Lopes.
01:09And they are supporting their guy who's having a good night racing for Rick Ware, riding the Yamaha number 16.
01:16Here's Shane McElrath, the reigning champ on the number one.
01:21And we are 30 seconds away from the start of SX2 race number two here.
01:28The 2025 Australian GP at Seabus Super Stadium.
01:34All right.
01:38Anstey, you can see him four gates over from the doghouse where the big W is to the right.
01:44He's got shock to the inside and Thompson to the outside.
01:48Are you ready?
01:49Here we go.
01:50Anstey with a good start on the inside.
01:58Gets tight to the bottom.
02:00Takes the lead.
02:00And one rider down hard.
02:02Coming through the rhythm section right after the first corner.
02:07Didn't get a chance to catch a number in all the dirt that went flying up.
02:11But Anstey's out front.
02:15You got Lopes right behind him.
02:17Then here comes shock on the 69.
02:21And Park.
02:23Cullen Park.
02:27Yep, that's Cullen right there back in fourth on the 43.
02:32And he's going to get around shock to take third away as they come into the woods.
02:37And Max Anstey executed that start perfectly.
02:40He got the jump, made the shift.
02:42And Ralphie moved over.
02:44Hard braking.
02:44And now he doesn't have to pass.
02:46Anstey loves this moto.
02:47The battle is right behind him, though.
02:49Yeah, and we have to give credit to the 460 right behind them.
02:52That's Michael Hicks on the start.
02:55We've got a tremendous start.
02:56He's up to fifth.
02:58Good ride by Cullen Park to get up front a little earlier than we've seen.
03:02He's had to make a lot of passes this year.
03:04But he's up front now in that top three in a fight with Cody Shock.
03:07This was a battle that was forming late in race one.
03:10We're going to get it here in race two.
03:11And Daniel, I believe that was Caleb Barham who went down, unfortunately, making his debut
03:16in FIM World Supercross competition here.
03:19As we saw Shock make a huge run.
03:22There's Barham right there.
03:24He's up and riding away.
03:26And Shock on the 69 gets back around Cullen Park.
03:30And then Park trying to find a way back.
03:32Pass out another rider down.
03:34That would be Lopes.
03:36Yes, it is Enzo Lopes.
03:38Enzo Lopes gets off into the tough blocks.
03:41And down he goes.
03:43And out of second place.
03:46Dropping rapidly.
03:47So much going on right there.
03:49Cullen Park misses the triple but gets back by Shock.
03:52Now you've got McIlrath and Hicks in a battle with Shock.
03:55Lopes down.
03:56Anstey, nowhere to be found.
03:58He's gone.
03:58And Hicks is putting the heat on the reigning champion McIlrath.
04:02And joining the fray is Kyle Chisholm.
04:05Kyle Chisholm on the Pikes Motorsports Group.
04:09Suzuki, number 11, gets around Hicks in all blue riding gear.
04:13And a big mistake by Cody Shock.
04:15That's where that tough block came from.
04:17Lost the rhythm section.
04:18Had to double through.
04:19Oh, look at Shock.
04:20Gets back around the 11 of Chisholm just like that with a huge twist of the throttle.
04:26This is not what it looked like a lap ago.
04:28Everybody has switched positions.
04:30Now Cullen Park's alone.
04:32McIlrath's alone in third.
04:33Shock had his issues.
04:35Chisholm joins the party.
04:36Here comes Thompson.
04:37Kalana Humphrey making his debut.
04:39Oh, no.
04:39And Lopes is off.
04:41Lopes is done.
04:42He rides back to the mechanics area to get the bike worked on.
04:47He'll be back for race number three.
04:50But no points for him here in SX2 race number two.
04:54Best ride of the season so far for Kyle Chisholm.
04:57As he's up to sixth.
04:59And I love seeing Michael Hicks in fourth.
05:01Great start for him.
05:02Yeah.
05:03He was really good in Buenos Aires in race number two.
05:06Haven't seen him since.
05:07So good for him to get back up in that lead group.
05:09But Max Anstey is being rewarded for executing the perfect start.
05:14And the start isn't always just off the gate of the shift.
05:17It's what you do in the first corner.
05:18And he had great braking.
05:19Moved over.
05:20A lot of awareness where the competition was.
05:23And that's why he's rewarded right now with a clear track.
05:25And he is long gone.
05:27We are up to lap five.
05:30As the leaders fly over the finish line jump.
05:33It's Anstey, Park, McElrath, Hicks.
05:35Shock, Chisholm, Thompson, Peters, Humphrey, and Desprez.
05:39The top ten.
05:40You know, Kristen mentioned the power of the motorcycle and how that's playing a role.
05:43And Ralph, I think the chassis is as well.
05:45It's so slick.
05:47You want to soften up the bike so you can find a little traction.
05:49But this track's got steep jumps and big whoops.
05:52So finding that perfect balance and suspension, it's been a fight for these guys all night as well.
05:57Chisholm got back around Thompson.
05:58So put him back into sixth.
06:03And the Canadiens slipping back a spot.
06:05Thompson.
06:10Meanwhile, Anstey absolutely perfect.
06:12Oh, boy, gets a little loose there on the back end.
06:15And those are getting tougher.
06:16I mean, Enzo Lopes is one of the better riders at whoops.
06:19And we didn't see the crash.
06:20We saw the end of it.
06:21For him to go down, being as big and strong and talented as he is, you know the back half of that whoops section is getting cupped out.
06:28It's getting slick.
06:30We saw Max Anstey, who's been the best all season.
06:32He gets a little kick out.
06:33And we're still at sprint race number two.
06:35Those are going to get tougher, Ralph.
06:37We're not even halfway through this night.
06:38How long till we see them start jumping through those whoops, Daniel?
06:42Well, they didn't do it in qualifying.
06:44So if they're going to do it, they're going to have to find it in the moment.
06:47And that's really challenging.
06:48Justin Cooper was a wild card in the first two rounds of the season.
06:51He was always the first to find that rhythm.
06:53Without him here, I haven't seen anybody do it yet.
06:55So it's going to have to happen in the moment.
06:57But if they get any tougher than they are right now, the option will at least become available in their mind.
07:02But it's going to be tough to get it that first time.
07:03Here's the fight for second right here.
07:05The 43 at Park trying to hang on in front of Shane McElrath, the reigning world champion in this category.
07:14And you see Park and McElrath both get through that big whoop hat fairly smoothly.
07:18Different lines, too.
07:22I mean, that's what's telling you right now how challenging they are when these guys are looking around.
07:27Maybe the left works for a while.
07:28One bad lap, they start looking for the right.
07:31So at least there's two options moving forward.
07:33But these guys are going to be challenged for the rest of this night.
07:36It's only going to get tougher.
07:37And here's Michael Hicks on that 460.
07:41Thompson, Chisholm.
07:42Chisholm, and then behind Chisholm comes Kyle Peters on the 110.
07:47Pretty good ride for him as he sits in eighth right now.
07:50Yeah, making his way back through the pack and trying to find a way by Kyle Chisholm,
07:53who you said is having a great race right now.
07:56We've seen him kind of sitting in this area most of the season.
07:59But we had a few laps there where he was closer to the top five.
08:02They're all settling in right now and kind of spaced out.
08:05So less defense, a little less offense, more just survival as we go one lap down.
08:11Or sorry, one lap to go in SX2 Race 2.
08:14Final lap underway here in race number two.
08:17Last year, Kyle Chisholm finished seventh overall in this category.
08:21His best finish, a sixth at Cardiff.
08:24The very first FIM World Supercross race.
08:27And he matched that in Vancouver a year ago.
08:31That was beautiful.
08:32I mean, the way he entered that corner, the braking technique,
08:35his ability to roll up the throttle, smooth delivery all the way around.
08:39And you matched that with perfect rhythm sections.
08:41He's not clipping anything.
08:43I mean, Ralph, he's really locked into this really nice pace
08:46where he's not having to take any chances.
08:48And it's just clean.
08:49You see that early shift right there.
08:50I'll bet he gets another one going into the corner.
08:53This is just calculated and absolutely perfect fundamentals.
08:57And look how good he is through that whoops.
08:59And Max Anstey to the checkered flag.
09:02He's got another one here in 2025.
09:05Max Anstey wins race career victory number 17 here tonight.
09:13The Australian GP as he takes SX2 race number two.
09:19And another 10 points go into the bucket for Max Anstey.
09:23As he works his way towards the 2025 championship
09:29and his second FIM World Supercross title.
