00:00Cody Shock trying to get one for Rick Ware.
00:10He's been great in race threes all year. He's usually at his best at the end of the night.
00:15That's just very true.
00:18Some guys just take a little minute to get warmed up, you think? Is that kind of the deal there?
00:22For sure, but I also think with him, it's the power of his mind right now.
00:25He's really made a change on the way that he thinks about things when they're not going right.
00:30So he's becoming one of those late night, late lap, just tough mental guys.
00:36It's just part of his development, and he's finding that right now.
00:39Hey, I always do pretty good late at night, so, you know, some people are night owls, right?
00:43That's right.
00:45Maybe that's the deal.
00:47All right, we're 20 seconds away from the final SX2 race of the night.
00:53Can Max Anstey stay perfect in every race so far in 2025 and SX2 racing?
01:01Let's find out and drop the gate.
01:09Anstey not first to the corner, but he's on the inside.
01:12He's going to come out in about third.
01:15He's got McElrath in front of him and Hicks in front of him.
01:17And Kyle Peters with a great start right up the inside on Max Anstey.
01:31McElrath out front.
01:32Hicks running in second.
01:34Anstey looks like he's holding down third.
01:35Peters with a great start on that Venom-Budd racing entry.
01:48That's his best start of the night, too.
01:51McElrath, way to bounce back.
01:52He's had a rough one.
01:54Anstey just gets him right there with Hicks on the inside.
01:57He got through those whoops so good, Daniel.
01:59Yeah, that was a great run.
02:00That's pretty much what he's done all season long.
02:03But now, let's go champion on champion.
02:06All right, Anstey's won this thing.
02:08McElrath is your defending champion.
02:10This is a battle that we expected coming into the championship.
02:13And if you're Shane right now, maybe a little frustration is going to give you that fire
02:17to get one on Max Anstey while Cody Schock tries to find his way in the third.
02:20This could be exactly what McElrath needs to end the win streak for Max Anstey.
02:26And this might be the race where Anstey has to make that decision
02:31because this is going to take a lap or two to get going.
02:34And maybe he just gets him really quickly because that's what he's been able to do.
02:37But maybe he starts second-guessing because this track has been tough.
02:40We've seen a lot of crashes tonight.
02:42Well, the best thing Max can do is get up there and put some heat on the backside of McElrath.
02:47Shane has made some mistakes tonight.
02:50He's one that doesn't normally succumb to pressure.
02:53But that's probably the best thing Max can do right now.
02:56Here's Cody Schock, the late arrival on the night as we predicted, making the move on Hicks.
03:01This will be for third.
03:03Schock trying to get to the inside.
03:05Not there yet.
03:06Schock on that 69.
03:08And hey, look who's back.
03:0943, Colin Park just in front of Kyle Peters.
03:13Peter's teammate, the Canadian Cole Thompson.
03:16Yeah, Schock needs to make this move very, very fast.
03:19And he's faster, so he has the speed.
03:21But Colin Park also has the speed.
03:24So for Cody Schock, find it, be aggressive, do something.
03:27Because Colin Park has been great tonight and he's right there in the shadows.
03:30Well, Hicks is a champion, not at Supercross, but at Arena Cross.
03:33So he knows what it takes to be a big winner.
03:35Yeah, at Arena Cross, racers have Kraft because you have to have it to be successful there.
03:40So this might be a battle of Kraft versus power.
03:43He gets a little out of shape through that whoop section.
03:46And Schock right there.
03:47That's the move he was waiting on.
03:49Very aggressive.
03:50Cut under.
03:51Hicks is going to go up the inside.
03:53But Schock, very smart there.
03:55Schock has the momentum around the outside.
03:57And now Colin Park starts to size up the 460.
04:02So we're a couple laps in.
04:03And Max Anstie is not winning.
04:06Winning, he's still sitting back about a second.
04:081.3 on Shane McElrath as Colin Park now tries to be the one making moves on Hicks.
04:14So two battles going on on this track.
04:19Park to the outside of Hicks.
04:24He's around.
04:25Big mistake by Hicks there.
04:27Doesn't get that three in the rhythm section.
04:29Colin Park moves a little to his left.
04:31Good work, good instincts.
04:32And now the battle is on for that podium.
04:34Those two are coming in very close at points.
04:38Peters trying to think if he can get his Cowie around that 460.
04:44Hicks on the start.
04:45The electric motorcycle.
04:48Making his debut in World Supercross competition in 2025.
04:53You see at the top of the screen, Anstie's closing a little.
04:55He went from 1.3 to 1.1.
04:58Now it's back to 1.2.
04:59So still sitting in that same spot.
05:01And he's getting those times from his mechanic as they go past the mechanic's area.
05:06He can sense that he's closing, but he's getting confirmation on it and encouragement to keep digging.
05:11He's there now.
05:13He's there now.
05:14The fight is on for the lead and the win here.
05:17And what could be the overall as well for Max Anstie.
05:21And another clean sweep.
05:22Get that big quad out of the rhythm section too, which is what cost him in the Super Bowl.
05:25So he's not afraid to go back to lines that gave him issues.
05:29But good job Shane McElroy hanging in there.
05:31He's improving the whoops in this main event.
05:34Shane is not going to be easy to get around, that's for sure.
05:37The rider out of North Carolina has that number one plate for a reason.
05:41He's a two-time FIM World Supercross champion.
05:50Anstie looking for his second world championship.
05:54Going back to what you said about taking risks.
05:57Instead of just being aggressive and forcing it, he's going to have to be a little bit more calculated with a champion like Shane McElroy.
06:03So I see a rider who is taking his time because he's going to have to make a smart move, maybe not an aggressive move.
06:10That seems to be the play here for Anstie.
06:11You see the live GP standings.
06:14Anstie has got a couple of points up on McElroy.
06:18Cody shocks his form back behind that.
06:22Cullen Park in fourth.
06:23Oh, Anstie to the outside.
06:25Cutting back inside.
06:27Can't get him just yet, but McElroy senses him right up alongside.
06:31Yeah, Anstie's being very patient, very smart, not forcing the issue.
06:38Right on him.
06:40Separating these two right now in those live standings.
06:43Anstie trying to shake that up a little bit if he can get around for the lead here.
06:47Tries to come back in, can't get it squared up enough.
06:51He'll follow him over the wall jump for now.
06:52You know, this is fun to watch too because Max has spent so much time alone this year, but now to be in a position where he has to play this game, it's a test of his craft, which we haven't seen much of because he doesn't have to ever use it.
07:04So I really like watching him work the track, move around, get to see that other side of Max Anstie.
07:12In order for McElroy to win the overall here tonight, Anstie's going to have to fall all the way back to fourth, which the way he's riding right now means he'd have to crash.
07:21Anstie to the outside.
07:23Lots of speed.
07:24New leader.
07:24So smart.
07:26So smart.
07:28Instead of cutting under, he knew he had just the space.
07:31He also knows that Shane is not a super aggressive rider.
07:34He's not going to put him over the berm.
07:36And you saw him just kind of sit back and then shoot around that berm.
07:39I mean, that's just some smart race craft by a guy who's got his game together.
07:43Well, as you said, we've seen his speed all season long.
07:48Tonight, we're seeing the race craft.
07:49And there's a reason why Max Anstie's a world champion.
07:52That's it.
07:53And he's on his way.
07:54And maybe to his second world championship.
07:59That's fun to watch.
08:00You know, I mean, we get these chaotic battles where we're just like can't believe our eyes.
08:04But it's fun sometimes to see a one-on-one with two respectable, smart, calculated riders play the game.
08:11And that was a lot of fun to see them both execute.
08:14Shane was playing great defense, too.
08:15But sometimes one guy's just got a little bit more than the other.
08:18We saw that there.
08:19Yeah, Shane didn't really do anything wrong.
08:21Yes, he just found the opportunity.
08:23But we've still got a handful of laps to go here.
08:29And anything is possible.
08:31Yeah, and if you're Shane McElrath, look, this is a massive bounce back to the front.
08:35But a win would feel so much better.
08:38And he's got less to lose for sure.
08:40So Shane's not going to give in on this.
08:42If he can keep it close, if something presents itself, he'll go for it.
08:45But starting to lose a tenth at a time.
08:47Now you can see the speed out of Anski as he's out front, clean of McElrath, putting in quick laps and opening up that gap to 1.6 seconds in what?
09:00A lap and a half?
09:01Yeah, and this is starting to look like he did late in that second race where he just went into calculation mode.
09:07He just went into, you know, perfect fundamentals, just execute.
09:10But this battle is still on.
09:12Good recovery by Hicks also to stay with these boys.
09:14But the Park Shock battle, that's been on tonight.
09:17Max Anstey has already claimed 135 championship points here in 2025.
09:26Stunning season for sure.
09:29Englishman just putting on a heck of a show.
09:31And Park, Colin Park on the Moto Concepts Racing Honda sits in third, number 43.
09:38His best ride of the year for sure.
09:42It's a great opportunity for him to stack those points too.
09:45With Enzo Lopes, who's in front of him in championship points.
09:49I mean, he's back at 15th right now.
09:51So two bad races in a row gives Park a chance.
09:54Oh, Shock with a big quad right there.
09:55But it gives Park a chance to now move up in those standings.
09:58Shane McElrath is still in there.
10:00So this battle for second was Shock, McElrath, Park.
10:03That's going to be a fight all the way to the end of this championship.
10:06And Lopes, really, really tough night that started so well.
10:12Oh, Park really struggling to the whoops that time.
10:15Getting close to the final lap here.
10:20Cody Shock.
10:25On that number 69, 28 years of age.
10:29Out of Delaware.
10:33And Colin Park just in front of him.
10:36This track has produced some great racing.
10:40This soil being dry and slick, it really challenges the riders to find the balance.
10:46They're wired to be aggressive.
10:48They practice aggressive.
10:50They train aggressive.
10:51They think aggressive.
10:52And then you have a track that you have to give some respect.
10:55It makes things go wild.
10:56That's what's happened tonight.
10:58Yep.
10:59No doubt about it.
11:00Anstey on his way looking for his career 18th race victory in FIM World Supercross competition.
11:15If he can hang on here on this final lap, it will be his fifth overall win in FIM World Supercross career victories.
11:27Just perfect.
11:30Well, guess what, Max?
11:31You're going to have to hear us talk about it a little bit longer.
11:34Yep.
11:35Max Anstey on his way to being perfect on another night here.
11:38This time at the 2025 Australian GP on the Gold Coast.
11:44And he showed us another trick up the sleeve, and that's his race crap tonight, which has been every bit as good as his race speed as he comes around the final corner.
11:54Max Anstey, perfect again as he lights the candles here at the Australian GP.
12:01McElrath will be second.
12:03Here's Park.
12:05Quick look over the shoulder.
12:06Shock nowhere near.
12:09Park will get third in this one.
12:11Shock will cross the line in fourth.
12:14And we await the arrival of Michael Hicks over the finish line jump.
12:18There it is.
12:20No.
12:20Kyle Peters gets him.
12:22Hicks is dropping.
12:24He must have gone down somewhere.
12:25Yes, he did.
12:27He's on the far side of the racetrack.
12:29Big problems on the final lap, unfortunately, for Michael Hicks as he continues to slide backwards on the start.
12:39And our guys in the graphics department only need this graphic for an SX2 race this year.
12:45That's all they've used.
12:46It has not changed once in 2025 because Anstey gets another one.
12:54I'm anxious to hear his interview because...
