The Heisman Trophy winning QB is outraged at the different rules put in place by the CFP committee for different schools (Miami and Notre Dame) which seemingly has left Miami out of the CFP.

00:35There is Gino Toretta, a proud Miami Hurricane, but also a fair and balanced college football fan.
00:44Please don't say that.
00:46I don't want to be associated with that network.
00:48Nobody uses fair and balanced on that network anymore because it's obviously not.
00:53Fake news.
00:54Hey, do the Miami Hurricanes belong in the college football playoffs?
01:01Yes.
01:01I think the disappointing thing is, one, the ACC having tiebreakers and the first tiebreaker isn't, hey, how about we get the two highest ranked teams in the game?
01:15I mean, it's just like, if you got a tied conference record, these conferences are so big now, you're not going to play, have played everybody in your conference.
01:26So it makes no sense to say, hey, these supposed experts, and you can, you know, listen, AP, coaches poll, whatever, CFP, whoever's deemed an expert, take those three average.
01:38We're going to get the two, you know, highest ranked teams we can in the game.
01:43And it's amazing.
01:44I mean, the Big 12 screwed themselves years ago when they had the SMU, or not SMU, TCU and Baylor debate, and they kind of nominated one to make the playoff, and the playoff committee liked the other one, and they didn't get either one in the playoff.
02:00And it just, one, that really has kind of put UM behind the eight ball.
02:07And then you have the love for Notre Dame, which, you know, that's years and years.
02:12But I'm just, I'm really like, the quote, Notre Dame had a strong win against Stanford.
02:20It's like, I'm like, strong win against Stanford?
02:23Like, nobody's ever gone to Stanford, who's 4-8, by the way, at the end of the season.
02:28They're 4-8.
02:29They've won four games.
02:31Nobody, and I mean nobody, has ever gone to the farm and said, boy, Stanford's one hell of a tough place to play.
02:39I mean, nobody.
02:40I mean, you know, maybe Marino, his rookie year when he had to play there for the Super Bowl, but nobody's gone in that stadium and be like, damn, this is intimidating.
02:50I mean, I broadcasted a game there.
02:53God's honest truth.
02:53But USC played there when they had Addison, Caleb Williams, and these stars.
02:59And I'm like, you know what?
02:59That would be great.
03:00We'll get USC, get them on the touchdown radio schedule, first game of the year.
03:05Stanford's not even in class.
03:07If there was 10,000 people at that game, I would have been shocked.
03:13And there's a local pizza place, I think it's called Howie's or something like this, like Caddy Corner from the stadium, which has an awesome potato pizza.
03:22Huh?
03:24They thin-slice potatoes, and they put cheese.
03:28You're nodding your head so long.
03:29Have you heard of that?
03:30I've had a potato pizza before.
03:31They are phenomenal.
03:33They are phenomenal.
03:34They blanched the potatoes.
03:35The potatoes.
03:36Anyway, it's phenomenal.
03:37I called the pizza place.
03:39No, wait a second.
03:40No, no, no.
03:41They blanched them.
03:42I can't.
03:43I don't know what blanched is.
03:45Blanched is water, hot water.
03:48Like a bath?
03:49You give the potato a bath?
03:49It's not raw potatoes.
03:50You've got to cook the potatoes some, like oil potatoes, like mashed potatoes.
03:54You've got to cook them.
03:55So you slice them, then you cook them a little bit, boil them.
03:58Then they put them on the pie.
04:00Then you basically have toppings like it's a baked potato, like the cream cheese.
04:04These bacon bits, it's like bread.
04:08It's like carbs upon carbs.
04:10But the point, I called the pizza place.
04:13Well, wait a second.
04:14Now, this place, hold on.
04:15This place is 100 yards from the stadium.
04:17Caddy Corner.
04:18Now, Camino Real, it's a crazy parking lot, all that stuff.
04:22I said, hey, it worked three hours before a game.
04:25Nobody's at the stadium.
04:26And I mean nobody.
04:27I said, can you deliver a couple pizzas over to the stadium?
04:32He goes, yeah.
04:33What gate are you at?
04:35And could you imagine like going anywhere else in America?
04:39I didn't see that at the Orange Bowl.
04:40Yeah.
04:40Hey, $20, no block.
04:43He pulled up 17th Avenue at 8th Street.
04:46You called Bull Bar back in 1986.
04:48Do you guys deliver?
04:50Yes.
04:50Where do you want the cocaine?
04:53Gate 11.
04:54But like that is a strong, strong way.
04:59I'm just, I just shake my head at some of the stuff.
05:02Now, I will say this.
05:03What the committee said, they reserve the right to re-rank everybody at the end.
05:08And I think they're saying that because last year they basically put everybody that got in a conference championship game in the playoffs.
05:19And I don't think you can continue to do that because if somebody gets boat raced,
05:23and I'll say, let's say Alabama gets boat raced by Georgia.
05:28They're going to have three losses.
05:30Granted, I know your conference is tougher than anybody's in the country, but man, you've got to think hard and fast of not saying,
05:38you know what, you're not good enough to make the playoffs, that's your third loss,
05:42and you just got boat raced on your conference championship game.
05:44And, you know, this is my end because I'm an honorary gator.
05:49I mean, honorary Cain because I'm doing the right thing.
05:52BYU, BYU, honestly, like I'm not even cheering.
05:55I'm just saying the right thing.
05:57It goes Notre Dame, what, 10, BYU 11, Cain's 12.
06:01If Texas Tech, which I believe they're about to beat the hell out of BYU because they already did this season.
06:05Now, UM and Notre Dame are right next to each other in the rankings.
06:11You have to jump Miami with the head-to-head.
06:13I think that is the most rational way to look at it.
06:16You have to.
06:17And I will say this.
06:20We are all – now, I know you used to be a Dan Mullen fan when he was coaching the Gators,
06:25but we are all Dan Mullen fans this weekend, and I'll tell you why.
06:30Dan Mullen plays Boise State.
06:32They're the only team that played either Miami or Notre Dame.
06:37And if Dan Mullen beats Boise State, what is the committee going to say?
06:42Well, I guess Notre Dame's schedule is not as hard as we thought it was
06:46because Dan Mullen and New Mexico just beat Boise State in the conference championship game.
06:51I mean, so I literally – to me, I'm like, okay, I have more eyes on that game
06:56than the Big Ten or the SEC because that could and may have –
07:02more effect on Miami than any of them.
07:04This is crazy.
07:06Exactly.
07:06It's crazy that we're – because you want the top 12 in.
07:11You know, people say, well, if Duke wins the ACC, really?
07:15You're going to put a five-loss team in the playoff?
07:20Come on, dude.
07:21I like – you know what?
07:23I'll give you the debate 9-14, but a five-loss team?
07:29That's just – that's just the ACC being stupid with their tie-breaking things.
07:35And if it screws Miami to go 10-2 two years in a row and get Knicks from the playoffs,
07:40that's just reason to, you know, try to move on and get in a different conference,
07:45to be honest with you.
07:46Well, that's what I was going to ask you, Gino, because I'm seeing a lot of –
07:50I don't want to call them overreactions.
07:52I think people are reacting properly, but, like, some of the steps to me are unrealistic.
07:57Miami leaving the ACC this summer, unrealistic.
08:01I wouldn't expect that to happen in a million years.
08:04But what about not scheduling Notre Dame, literally canceling the game with Notre Dame next season,
08:10not scheduling UF anymore?
08:12In the future – I was bringing this up to Donald yesterday, like, what incentive does Miami have
08:16to schedule anybody not named Bethune-Cookman six times in their out-of-conference games anymore
08:23if literally it does not matter?
08:25All that matters for them is going undefeated in conference play.
08:30Well, I would say it does matter because look at Notre Dame.
08:33The reason they're 10-2 and really there's a debate is their schedules horse bleep.
08:39I mean, let's be honest, outside of Texas A&M and Miami, like, Notre Dame's strongest point
08:45in this whole thing is we had two losses against two great teams.
08:49What?
08:50I mean, dude, like, hey, we played them close.
08:54You know what?
08:54You still lost.
08:56That's the whole – that's why you have to schedule good teams.
09:01That's why you have to schedule hard teams.
09:03And it's like UM's getting penalized for beating them.
09:08And then Notre Dame's getting credit for losing closely to Texas A&M and to Miami.
09:15It's like there's different rules for different schools, and I hope they're doing it right
09:21because they've – you know, now they put Alabama in front of Notre Dame.
09:24But if you have Notre Dame and Miami next to each other and they have the same record,
09:30they're not playing today or this weekend, and you don't say, hey, what matters the most?
09:36One, kick the other team's butt on the actual field.
09:40You know, not in make-believe, not in Madden, not in Sega Genesis or anything.
09:44On the field.
09:48Gino Toretta, I want to get your opinion before we run out of time here.
09:52Your opinion on what transpired with Lane Kiffin because that was obviously –
09:56you couldn't escape that over the weekend, and now he's at LSU, and Ole Miss be damned.
10:04What do you make of it?
10:06Well, I would say this.
10:07One, Florida State got screwed for a quarterback getting hurt.
10:11And you can't tell me that Lane Kiffin's not a big reason of plays being sent in for a game.
10:16So, like, I would say that's more important to my team, the guy calling plays
10:21and the guy being the head coach, on the outcome of a game and game planning
10:25than just the starting quarterback.
10:30Now, in – I don't know if I'm – it's in Lane's defense.
10:33The college football calendar is broken.
10:36How there's – there's kids right now that are committing,
10:38and then the transfer portal opens the week before the – like,
10:44of the national championship game, and then, you know,
10:49you have coaches that are leaving, the recruiting cycle is off.
10:53It makes no sense.
10:54I mean, the NFL, at least, they say, hey, you can't poach your coaches
10:57in the middle of the season.
10:59Like, if you're a player – think about it.
11:01You're at Ole Miss.
11:02You've had the best season that they've ever had.
11:04Like, you have a legitimate chance, legit chance to win a national championship.
11:09Chambliss, the quarterback, I told you when I did him twice earlier in the year,
11:12I go, this kid is legit.
11:14They have talent all over the place.
11:17And at the end of the season, you get there to play for it all,
11:23and your coach leaves, your OC leaves, but now the OC is going to come back
11:29and call plays.
11:30And it's just – like, college football, there's a lot of smart people
11:34in this world that I think they just need to fix this stuff,
11:38and the calendar has to be set.
11:40Either the transfer portal doesn't open, you know, until the second semester,
11:44or you move – you know, Jimbo Fisher's like, move the games up.
11:48Have everything done January 1st then.
11:50And then you have recruiting, signing day, transfer portal,
11:54everything in the same time frame.
11:56But there's no good way to leave a school.
12:00I mean, listen, Jimmy left, I think it was after signing day,
12:03my registered freshman year, and obviously people were disappointed.
12:08Dennis left a couple years after.
12:10There's no easy way to ease a school and timing,
12:14but timing should be after the season's over.
12:18Like, the NCAA has to at least do something so that this –
12:22Something.
12:23I mean, look at – like, I was reading an article,
12:25Penn State's recruiting because they haven't signed –
12:27apparently they've gone after guys and they haven't gotten who they've wanted to.
12:32Their class is ranked 250th or something.
12:35Some crazy number.
12:36Like, they're ranked below West Georgia.
12:40Because we're getting called by a school nurse.
12:43I mean, there's no one there.
12:45It's the guy who fills the vending machines is also in charge of filling the roster.
12:51Hell, you know what?
12:52I raised my hand.
12:53I'm bringing Channing.
12:54I think – you know what?
12:55We'll just take like a million each.
12:57Hey, we'll just go up there for a million each.
13:00Crowder could recruit at Penn State, man.
13:03His dad is –
13:04You know, when you get that job, bro, you got my number.
13:08I know.
13:09Hey, there's a lot of good people.
13:11We ain't that greedy.
13:12We ain't that greedy.
13:13We don't need 13 a year.
13:15You know, one or two.
13:16We'll come coach.
13:18Don't forget your old pal, Mark.
13:19You know, get at the tavern trying to get served.
13:22Hey, they changed – you know, I would say you're the sports information director,
13:26but they changed those titles now.
13:28I think it's Directors of Strategic Communication.
13:31Yeah, make me that.
13:32Yeah, make me that.
13:33All right, you're that.
13:33You're that.
13:34Make me that.
