00:22Gino will be on the call Saturday night nationally
00:25for Canes and Gators on Touchdown Radio.
00:29So he will be there.
00:30Gino, what do you want to talk about first?
00:32The fact that you're getting a statue, a life-size statue,
00:35or Miami International Airport.
00:38Which one of those topics intrigues you the most?
00:41Actually, I was wondering if Canes had like a consignment section
00:46for the disgruntled Florida fans maybe to bring their merchandise back
00:51to say, you know what, I'll take 10 cents on the dollar
00:54for what I spent for this stuff.
00:56So maybe we start there.
00:58That's not a bad idea.
00:59I'll tell you what, you said it's a condensed show.
01:02We don't have enough time to talk about the Miami Airport,
01:05which I go through every single week.
01:07I mean, you travel a lot.
01:09Solana maintains it's the best airport in South Florida.
01:14I don't know.
01:16I guess, is that a compliment?
01:17You know, I think they all have issues.
01:21But listen, I've been reading signs that says, pardon our interruption in progress.
01:29Progress is happening here at the airport.
01:32Progress has been happening for a number of years, and I don't see any progressing.
01:37Put that damn train.
01:38There's no train on the track.
01:40Put a train on the track.
01:41Oh, no, we got trains.
01:43It's just the cement is falling down.
01:45It's like chipping and cracking.
01:46And, you know, the worst part.
01:49You know what?
01:50I'll take, you know, Miami Airport.
01:52It's easy.
01:52I know it where it's easy.
01:55But why do we have to get rid of the Sun Pass leaving the parking deck?
01:59Now you've got to stop so somebody can't make like a half a cent on my exit on the toll.
02:06I'm like, come on, man.
02:07This is terrible.
02:09There is nothing better than Sun Pass Plus leaving an airport parking garage.
02:14You are exactly right.
02:16It is.
02:16Hawk, I got to tell you this one.
02:19So you're old enough to have flown out of the old, I would say, was the old U.S. air terminal where you had to take the train.
02:27Like, I think it's like the E gates way out, 20 or 30.
02:31So when I went to Dublin for the Florida State game last year, that's where the gate, it was like a big double-decker plane.
02:38I go out there.
02:39I'm telling you, there was more moss and mildew on the windows.
02:45Like, you couldn't.
02:47It was like the old Vinny when my cousin Vinny goes to the neighbor and he can't see through the window.
02:55The window is completely covered in a gook.
02:57I was like shaking my head.
02:59I'm like, are we in the United States of America?
03:02Or did I miss where we took this short train ride to?
03:08Lana, would you like to rebut?
03:09I'll give you 30 seconds to rebut.
03:11Concourse J, Gino, best concourse in South Florida.
03:15Best concourse maybe in the world, I'd have to say.
03:18You park in Dolphin Garage.
03:20I don't fly out of J.
03:20I use American, so I don't know what you're flying out of J.
03:23Is that Spirit or Frontier?
03:26He's a Frontier guy.
03:27No, I'm not venturing towards J.
03:31Well, I'm a big fan of Concourse D as well.
03:34I'll never turn it down.
03:35Yeah, we know.
03:35Yeah, very weird.
03:38Concourse J.
03:40Actually, I did just fly Delta.
03:43You've got to go through Atlanta.
03:44It's just like, wow, this is really an interesting thing.
03:47The parking deck on the J side, it's like every time you turn to go up, you can't go up because there's scaffolding blocking the going up part.
03:57So, yeah, it's such a great airport, Solana.
04:00You're right.
04:00Now that you mentioned the scaffolding in the parking garage.
04:04I don't get all the information.
04:06Fuck, my line for that is just, bienvenido a Miami.
04:14What happened?
04:15So you're getting a life-size statue at the facility?
04:19We just found this out in the last segment.
04:22So the University of Miami has a donor, and he donated $1.8 million to the University of Miami Athletic Department, and he wanted two statues of the two Heisman Trophy winners to be erected outside of the Schwartz Center,
04:41the Heck Center, where we practice since our stadium's not on campus.
04:47So they are starting the process of figuring out what I'm going to look like and what Vinny's going to look like and going to build a statue.
04:57Will you be actively involved in the making of the statue like Dwayne Wade was with his statue?
05:02Well, hopefully mine turns out better than Dwayne, because I guess he was a little disappointed with his finished product.
05:07He liked it.
05:08He was the only one who, him and Solana were the only two who liked his.
05:12Basically, the sculptor that did the Ron Frazier statue, which looks a spitting image of him right outside the baseball.
05:19Yes, exactly like him.
05:20He's from up in New York, outside the city.
05:23So it takes like 18 to 24 months.
05:27We have to go through pictures of ourselves of, you know, a pose or some kind of game action that we want.
05:35And then, you know, he comes over and measures my head.
05:38Hopefully, he's got a big enough tape measure to measure my noggin.
05:43And hopefully, he puts some hair back on my head.
05:45It's more of a 1992 version.
05:48And, you know, is it a, like, we just learned about it, and I was thinking about it during the break.
05:55Is it a big moment in your career, or is it the most, you know, attractive depiction of you?
06:02Which way would you want to go where, oh, that's when, that's the game I threw for 400, or that's the national championship, or that's this?
06:10Or is it just, I look sexier in this one?
06:12Well, you know, it's hard, you know, to not pick out a sexy picture of myself in the orange pants and the white jersey.
06:21But it is, listen, I knew kind of exactly the photo I wanted.
06:28And I said, this is the photo I want.
06:32And it was kind of funny because the response was, but that's not you playing.
06:36And it was me, after we had won the Orange Bowl, went 12-0, won the national championship in 91, I had both hands up, one hand in there, and I got my helmet in there.
06:47And I just thought, you know what, that's the culmination of a national championship.
06:52You know, it's like winning a lot of games with me and my boys and my teammates and stuff, and enjoying that with Miami.
06:58With Miami, he was in the Orange Bowl, you know, that was, that's really what I'm going to try to, you know, have conveyed through that.
07:07It's not going to be me running or throwing or something like that.
07:11It's going to be more of that moment that celebrating with the team and the fans and winning the championship.
07:18You don't want to make it me and you sitting at Tony Roma's having an onion loaf?
07:23I would like to see how he makes that onion loaf, that brick onion loaf.
07:28All right, let me ask you something quickly before we run out of time about the game.
07:32I think we're all expecting a certain thing Saturday night because the Gators have had a rough start to the season,
07:38and the Canes have had a brilliant start.
07:41But as you know, that doesn't always portend what's going to happen on the field.
07:46So what do you see happening Saturday?
07:48Well, listen, Florida's got one hell of a defense.
07:51They've given up two touchdowns in two games.
07:54They've really given up two touchdowns in three games, but let's be honest,
07:57the first game, you know, really their walk-ons could have beat Long Island University,
08:01which I'm still trying to figure out where it's at in Long Island.
08:04But anyway, they got a great defense.
08:07The question is if DJ Lagway is going to throw to the guys in his jerseys and not the other team.
08:14And I think that, you know, he's – hopefully for the Florida fans, it's corrected.
08:21For the Miami fans, I hope it's not corrected.
08:24But this team has players.
08:27And, you know, all these kids on this team were recruited just by Miami and Florida State.
08:31And Florida, they were recruited by everybody.
08:33So they have some studs.
08:34And as long as you don't give the game away, I think it's going to be a lot closer game than people think.
08:40And it's just – man, listen, it's Miami and Florida, whether it's Florida, Florida State,
08:45Miami, Florida State, I don't – like, I don't really care what their records are.
08:50You know, listen, this is the same team that got their ass kicked against Texas last year.
08:55And I thought that was the worst roster I'd ever seen broadcast in an SEC football game.
09:01And they came back the next week and beat LSU.
09:04So I think if you're not the coaching staff of Miami and the player thinking, you know what, they got good players,
09:10it's just they're really discombobulated on what's going on on Saturdays on game day right now.
09:16And, you know, I asked Josie yesterday about it.
09:21And I don't know if I'm doing this because I'm a Gator and I just want you to, you know, make me feel better or not.
09:26Like, DJ Lagway, I watched every snap of LSU.
09:29You know, I'm watching these games.
09:32I thought he was going to be in the Heisman Trophy talks.
09:36He just – I don't know if – as you watch him, it doesn't like it's turning over fast enough.
09:41You bring up the interceptions he throws.
09:43Some of them are just embarrassing interceptions.
09:45Like, what do you see out of Lagway when you watch him?
09:48Well, physically he's talented, but, you know, AR-15 was talented too, Richardson.
09:53I think, like, the thing that's perplexing to me is this is his second year as a starter.
09:58Now, he was injured, so he wasn't throwing in two-a-days.
10:01But that doesn't mean you shouldn't be taking mental reps.
10:04He's throwing some picks where you're like, who were you throwing to
10:08and what was the actual read on the defense that you threw that ball?
10:13Yes.
10:13And I think that that's where, you know, what's the only line?
10:17You're either coaching it or letting it happen.
10:19Something either is not being conveyed or not coached to DJ Lagway to say,
10:26this is what we want to happen on every single play and whatever the defense is running.
10:32And, you know, it's kind of head-scratching.
10:35But, you know, listen, there's a lot of quarterback play that I would say is suspect
10:39only because the coaches are either not coaching it
10:43or they're just letting the kid, you know, make some terrible decisions.
10:48And, Gino, quickly, I don't want to give the cheat code.
10:51You blitzed the hell out of him.
10:53Now those decisions have to be made faster.
10:56And, like, should that be the approach?
10:59Make him make fast decisions because I'm terrified.
11:02Like, I don't expect the Gators to beat the Canes on Saturday.
11:07Well, I would say this.
11:08You know, I think you've got to mix it up and just give different looks.
11:12You know, I think defensively, LSU figured out your guys' defense,
11:16the middle of the field was wide open.
11:17And once they started attacking it, then they were taking off big chunks.
11:22So, you know, listen, I think Florida's got enough coaching analysts out there to help
11:29that Channing, they could probably figure out a plan.
11:32To correct a lot of things.
11:34But I think it comes back to not turning the ball over,
11:39trying to play a clean football game and not put your defense in bad situations.
11:44So, hopefully, that doesn't happen Saturday night for us.
11:48Gino, you ever use the term town car?
11:52Yeah, Lincoln town car.
11:53Heck, yeah.
11:53Those old boats, you could throw a few bodies in the back.
11:58You know, people with names that ends in a vowel.
12:00Anything better than when somebody says, I'm going to send a town car for you?
12:04There's nothing better.
12:06You could sit in the trunk in a town car, have dinner, and, like, not even be crumped up
12:12in the back of a small thing.
12:14You remember how big those things were?
12:15What is the light of the town car?
12:17You ever use the term whirling dervish?
12:20Whirling dervish?
12:21No, I have used rigmarole, though.
12:24Well, use whirling dervish on Saturday night's broadcast.
12:26That's my gift to you.
12:28That's my gift to you.
12:29You know what?
12:29I don't know what it is.
12:30You got to send me the definition or something.
12:33I'll send you the definition.
12:33You're not pulling that you-know-what with me, like Don Bailey.
12:39No, no, no.
12:40You're more aware.
12:43You're more aware.
