00:00All right, let's get to on this line.
00:03What was C.J. Stroud's grade yesterday?
00:06You can text in your thoughts, 713-5724-610, YouTube and Twitch.
00:11And I see Joel Hernandez, our guy on Twitch.
00:15He's got a B for C.J. Stroud.
00:19Also checking in, C.J., 62%, one pick, no touchdowns, C-plus from the text line.
00:26And then I got a C, a C, and a B from the text line.
00:31Clint, you watched it this first game back since the big hit against the Broncos,
00:37has missed some time.
00:38Where did you land in terms of how he played with his grade?
00:42I got a B. I got a B.
00:44You know, the interception obviously hurts.
00:47I do think there's times that were obvious where, you know,
00:51we talked about this before of like once you, for however you do it,
00:55whether it's penalty or incomplete pass or run gets stuffed, you know,
00:58that second down, the timing of when you take your risk, the second down.
01:02I think there's several times where, you know,
01:04we could have threw the ball underneath immediately
01:06and got into a third and two or third and three instead of, you know,
01:11taking a shot at no-calling, double coverage, you know,
01:14in the back of the end zone kind of deal.
01:16So I think there's a couple of those that we can look at.
01:18Not concerned about the no touchdowns.
01:21It was a lower completion percentage than what we've seen from C.J. Stroud typically.
01:27So I think once I take you in the context of, one,
01:30I've only seen the TV copy.
01:31Two, he was on the shelf for four weeks and was getting back into play.
01:37I'm going to go with a solid B, man.
01:40I thought he played well enough to win.
01:42He didn't do anything stupid that got us beat.
01:45I'm good with it.
01:46So there's a couple of sacks that we're taking that you can't take.
01:49Obviously, I agree with some of the texters.
01:50So a handful of things here, there, kept it from being an A.
01:53I'll go with a B, solid B.
01:54Text line coming in, I'll give mine.
01:57Another B, someone coming in with an F.
02:02Okay, you know what's crazy is y'all act like C.J. is so much better than Davis Mills,
02:07but I promise you Davis Mills could have done exactly what C.J. did yesterday,
02:10and y'all are going to sit here and blame it on Rust.
02:13The dudes played like they did all year, and dude is not good and doesn't have confidence
02:24to run in the back of the draft.
02:27Yeah, I think you're insane.
02:29Well, I just wonder what you're listening to.
02:31You can have your own opinion.
02:32I think your opinion's insane.
02:34If you think the team would be better with that stable lower ceiling that you know
02:40what you're going to get every week, okay, whatever, but what are you listening to?
02:44None of us said anything about Rust, did we?
02:47I did.
02:48Oh, I think he hasn't played in four weeks.
02:50I think that has something to do with it.
02:51But it wasn't like there was a bunch of Rust there, and so he played poorly.
02:56He didn't play poorly.
02:58Right, yeah.
02:58Nobody's blaming anything.
02:59I didn't hear anybody blame anything on Rust, I guess is where I was going with it.
03:02To me, I do give him a benefit of the doubt on seeing some things of not playing for four
03:08weeks, just like I gave Davis Mills a benefit of the doubt after looking like he did against
03:13Denver because he hasn't been in a game yet.
03:16I think you go a long period of time, a month or however long Davis did before he played
03:22Denver, seeing stuff live action, seeing what different, and Lewis is one of the best
03:29in the business for the Colts to confuse quarterbacks.
03:31I think there's something there.
03:32Like, I think you are just a hater.
03:36I don't really any other way.
03:38I think you're forcing yourself to see something that isn't real.
03:43So, anyway, our guy Joe.
03:47Sorry, Joe, I know the Maggie's, they hurt you.
03:50C- Joe brings it.
03:52It's a C+, B-, someone checks in.
03:55I would say, I would say a B-, is where I land.
04:00Didn't like the pick, especially coming off of just getting the ball back right there and
04:09giving it right back to him.
04:10I thought some of the sacks, and I think this is where some rust comes in.
04:15I think with this team, I think even more with your defense, there is live to fight another
04:24day.
04:24There's got to be a little bit more of that.
04:27I'm not, I don't want to, but I don't want to go in there and say nothing because I don't
04:29want to take the natural instincts from C.J. Stroud.
04:35I think he's maybe had that stripped a little bit enough to begin with, but I think he's
04:40just got to be smarter and not take some of those sacks.
04:42He turned a chip shot field goal into one where, hey, this is 40-something here, and
04:48you need all the points you can get.
04:49And I thought he just made some plays that no other quarterback on the roster can make.
04:54I think he made some throws.
04:55I think he got away.
04:57Like, you just, little simple stuff.
04:59On the run as, you know, the Colts are not fooled by his fakes at all, and they're
05:04pressuring him, and he, on the money, throws it in front of receivers multiple times, which
05:11not only created first downs, but obviously took away maybe a potential loss or a sack
05:18away.
05:18So, I thought first game back against Lou Anarumo, against the Colts on the road, pretty
05:24good.
05:24I'd say it'd be mine.
05:26And I just, if you're F or D's, I don't know.
05:31Well, there's clearly, there's clearly like a, an ability with C.J. Stroud, guys, that
05:38is, and maybe I'm stating the obvious here, but there's clearly an ability to fit balls
05:44in and make throws that, you know, your backup quarterbacks in the league don't make.
05:49And to be honest with you, your lesser talented starting quarterbacks in the league just don't
05:53make.
05:53The quick release combined with the power that he can generate with that quick release
05:58just makes, makes that ceiling really, really, really, really high.
06:03And, and, and, you know, it's, it's not that the, the other guy in this case, Davis Mills
06:07or less, not that a lesser quarterback can't make throws, you just have to do it different.
06:11It looks different.
06:11Ball's got to come out of their hand earlier.
06:12They got to, they got to read it clear.
06:14They got to read it earlier.
06:15They got to anticipate it more.
06:16He has the ability and the luxury of, of seeing things a bit longer because like a second longer
06:24because he has the ability to drive it in there.
06:25And there's just a, at ceiling, just that ceiling goes up when, when seven's behind the center,
06:31man.
06:31And, and, and those throws, there's about four or five throws to your point that are just
06:35like, man, that's, that's now he created the circumstances that may have made it a tighter
06:40window, but boy, that, that's a, that is an elite throw.
06:43So yeah, there, there are some plays out there that the defense had the right response to
06:51and that he was able to get yards out of that, that Davis just couldn't.
06:57And Davis again, was great for this team, right?
07:01He was great for this team.
07:02Like if you didn't watch that game yesterday and say to yourself, I know Tony was texting
07:06me, you're out of your mind.
07:08I think you just want to be out of your mind.
07:10If you didn't watch that yesterday and think, Oh, yep.
07:12There's a difference there.
07:13There's a difference.
