00:00One last text before we dive into some Rockets basketball.
00:02From the 832, I vehemently, did I pronounce that right?
00:06Disavow the microwave fandom that's attacking C.J. Stroud.
00:12I mean, I don't know if that's microwave fandom.
00:15I think it's people with eyeballs.
00:16He set a record.
00:18He set a record with the four fumbles and the four interceptions.
00:21Yeah.
00:21So if you can't handle it, I'm sorry.
00:24But that's our job, man.
00:26I want C.J. to succeed just as much as you do, Paul, just as much as you do,
00:30Texter, that can't handle the conversation.
00:32But he sucked.
00:34And if you're a fan of the Texans, you're not a fan of C.J. Stroud.
00:38Like, it is what it is.
00:39We all want better for him, but come on.
00:41It's a team game.
00:42And, yeah, to what you said, Tyler.
00:44Now, I might not bleed battle red.
00:49Sure.
00:49But the Texans succeeding is directly tied to the success of everyone at this station.
00:57Yes, absolutely.
00:58We might nitpick and we might criticize, but, I mean, we all would love to have a Radio Row experience
01:05where all of a sudden we're the stars.
01:08And then maybe I throw a Tide Pod at someone and I make it big.
01:12Just going to chuck it.
01:13Bam!
01:14Hit Sean right in the eyeball.
01:16Hey, Seth, listen, I'm a big fan of Seth Payne.
01:23I just want you to know, I would not have grimaced the way that Sean did.
01:28I wouldn't have.
01:28Listen, you little whore.
01:32It's one of my favorite drops.
01:34I didn't have an opportunity to use it, really.
01:35I'm still trying to figure out why it is that Seth threw the Tide Pod.
01:40And I can understand why Sean was as discombobulated as he was when he was hit by it.
01:46But here's the thing.
01:46For us who did not play in the National Football League, we all have to stand tall in the pocket.
01:52Because we can't.
01:53If we look like a little, you know what, Ski.
01:57I think even Sean would be like, yeah, I wish I handled that a little bit different.
02:00I think all of us, we have to be as tough as we possibly can.
02:05Because otherwise, we can't really call anybody out, you know.
02:08Because generally, and I will pat myself on the back, amongst sports talk radio hosts in Houston, Texas,
02:14who did not play professionally at any level.
02:18I do like to think of myself as the most athletic guy out there.
02:20But, like, that takes work.
02:22You know, it takes going to the gym five days a week.
02:24Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
02:25And all it takes is just getting hit in the face by a Tide Pod and looking like a little you-know-what-ski
02:31for all of that street cred that I've built up in my own mind.
02:35To evaporate overnight.
02:37Anyway, we got off topic.
02:39Speaking of getting hit in the eye with a Tide Pod, how about the Houston Rockets the last two nights?
02:45Good God!
02:47Ew!
02:48I mean, you don't have enough Tide Pods to clean up the mess that they've left.
02:52Both of those performances were absolutely pathetic.
02:56And I think the honeymoon's over for Ime Udoka.
02:59It was fun at first.
03:00Brand new attitude of Rockets basketball.
03:02It's so different from all this Stephen Silas, Kumbaya crap.
03:06I couldn't stand it.
03:07Yeah, yeah, yeah.
03:08He's just Blair's trying to get through.
03:09No, no, no!
03:10Stop, stop.
03:11I want some accountability.
03:12I want some toughness.
03:14But it feels like the toughness is gone with Dylan Brooks.
03:17Weirdly.
03:17So here we are with two back-to-back awful losses, at the very least looking at Ime Udoka with a little more clarity.
03:26All of a sudden, we're realizing that we've got a wife who does fart from time to time, which is a very realistic humanoid thing to do.
03:36I'm saying it like that, though, is when you bring in somebody new, you have this idealized version of them in your head for a little bit of time, and you see all the good.
03:45And we were just here with the Texans.
03:47We were just here with the Texans going into last year.
03:50Rookie season with C.J. Stroud.
03:53D'Amico Ryan's first season.
03:54Oh, my God.
03:55This is going to be incredible.
03:57The second year, it doesn't go as easy as it goes the first year.
04:00And you start to have real questions and to nitpick and to wonder about limitations of specific people that are a part of the organization.
04:07It is a natural thing to have happen.
04:09It's finally here with Ime Udoka, officially.
04:12I think everyone now has to be looking at him and wondering, okay, you've preached toughness.
04:17Where's the toughness?
04:19You've preached defense.
04:20What's been going on defensively?
04:22After last night's game, he was asked about Alper and Shingun and some of the struggles that he has had specifically defensively.
04:31He sounded a bit exasperated.
04:35What have you noticed in the last two games?
04:37It looks like teams are starting to try to hunt Alper on defense and put him in a pick and roll situations.
04:45It's been the case since I've been here.
04:47So no different there.
04:49Doesn't that concern you a little bit?
04:52Doesn't that concern you?
04:53I mean, Ime's got to be lighting Alper up in practice, time in, time out.
04:58And he lights up his players in these press conference settings, time in, time out.
05:03But no change is happening.
05:05And you got to wonder at some point, does this start to get old?
05:09I saw a comparison made online to Kevin McHale last night.
05:13I'm a big fan of Kevin McHale.
05:15But he might not have been the best coach for that Rockets team.
05:19And obviously, James Harden hated him at the very end of his time.
05:22I mean, it was Harden that forced McHale out.
05:25I like McHale, but I'm also from Boston.
05:27So he got me a little slack on that front.
05:29He might not be the most neutral observer there.
