00:00All right, we do this every single Monday after the game on Sunday.
00:06C.J. Stroud's great.
00:08What did you grade C.J. Stroud at yesterday?
00:12713-572-4610.
00:15YouTube and Twitch, you can jump in on that.
00:17C.J. Stroud, 22 of 29, 260, three touchdowns, no picks.
00:23Quarterback rating of 137.1.
00:27You're great, Clint.
00:28I know you were really impressed by what you saw.
00:30Yeah, I was really impressed.
00:31I gave him an A.
00:32I don't think he could have done any more.
00:34The only thing that could have made this performance better is if the game ever got tight,
00:38and he was one of those Superman moments that we saw him do early in his career a few times here.
00:44I mean, I reserved the A-pluses for those kind of outings.
00:47I mean, this was a game that was never close,
00:49but part of the reason it wasn't close is because from jump, C.J. Stroud was dealing.
00:53I mean, the first tight window throw to Nico Collins on the long touchdown,
00:56you know, I think he made even a couple of the incompletions were really good throws,
01:01great placement on balls.
01:03He spread the ball around to a lot of different players.
01:06Him and Dalton Schultz, the chemistry has obviously been there for a long time,
01:10but it looks like even at a higher clip right now,
01:14I think he's feeling things in the pocket and moving really well.
01:18He's getting through his progressions quick and checking the football down,
01:20staying out of trouble.
01:21And really, like I said before, this is a game where the only way this is even a game,
01:28you know, whether you viewed it that way from the beginning
01:31or you looked up and it was 17-0, you go, okay,
01:33what kind of brand of quarterback do you want to play the rest of the way?
01:35The only way that the Cardinals would have gotten back into it
01:42was if ultimately the offense messed the bed
01:46or the quarterback all of a sudden started turning the football over,
01:48taking a bunch of risks, sack, fumbles, things of that nature.
01:50And so he obviously was aware in the moment and handled his business.
01:55So I got to give C.J. Stroud an A for what he did yesterday.
01:59It was really impressive.
02:00Ray coming in with a B.
02:02Champ Slice gives him an A.
02:04Text line, solid B+.
02:06Text line also saying,
02:08sounded like old buddy was listening to,
02:12Dave was listening to Janet Jackson is what that sounded like.
02:17I have to go back and listen.
02:18I know Tyler has a look in his eye.
02:20I'm not sure.
02:23I couldn't hear it.
02:24I couldn't catch it.
02:25It was so quick on him.
02:26Sounded like maybe a little Janet Jackson.
02:28Shout out to Janet.
02:32Courtney told me her dad took her.
02:33That was her first concert.
02:35Velvet rope tour.
02:37Really?
02:37Dad felt like her dad wanted to go more for himself.
02:40That was when Janet used to bring people up on the stage.
02:44I don't know if anybody else remembers that.
02:46Anyway, Derwin, C.J., and A.
02:52When I first looked at it, Clint, I wanted to say,
02:55man, this might be the best game C.J. has played.
02:58We can talk about opponent and everything.
03:02I'm in between A minus, B+.
03:04I want to go A minus because no turnovers in the three touchdowns.
03:10But I got to put some of that on the leader of the offense,
03:17which he is on the field, that they're kicking five field goals.
03:21That, like, I don't love that.
03:25And they still are having pre-snap, procedural, weird,
03:32didn't check in to the officials stuff that's taken away.
03:37Big plays are set in the back.
03:39Like Nico Collins, hell, he had put the graphic up and everything in the stadium
03:43that he'd gone over 1,000 yards and missed a big play there.
03:47C.J. may have been over 300 yards in this game.
03:50And I'm not saying it's completely him.
03:52Blake Fisher doesn't check in, I guess, well enough.
03:55But that is still becoming a deal.
03:58They're having too many of the – I think somebody lined up offsides again yesterday
04:02where they're just having too many of those penalties
04:05and him being the leader of the offense out there is just dings for me.
04:11So kind of him being the leader of the offense, not just on him,
04:14but kicking five field goals in the game
04:16and many of them inside of the red zone.
04:20And then just the weird penalties that they're starting to have,
04:23many of it pre-snap that's costing them yards that they've got to –
04:28we keep hearing that every week.
04:30We've got to figure that out.
04:32They've got to clean that up some.
04:34So that's why I go A- or it looked like a damn near A-plus type of performance.
04:39Yeah, man, I got – you know, I just – it was one of those outings where, boy,
04:46you can just – I don't know if it's real or not, but you can see growth.
04:52You know what I mean?
04:52Like it's Arizona.
04:54They obviously were a rough defense.
04:58But, man, you can just see growth in how he's handling this offense in particular.
05:03And so that's just a huge plus, man.
05:06And then you look at the box score was solid.
05:08The scoreboard was off the charts.
05:10So, yeah, man, it was a good one for CJ.
05:11Yeah, how much – I guess I want to kind of get there
05:15as I see some other people.
05:16B-minus, too many field goals.
05:20CJ had the runner – loved the CJ runner late pass for touchdowns.
05:27Texans still have concerning issues being able to score touchdowns in the red zone.
05:32Dingham for some points there.
05:33How much of that do you lay at his feet?
05:38The issues in the red zone, the issues with just shooting themselves in the foot.
05:46Well, I mean, not all of it.
05:48I mean, look, I think you're either coaching or you're allowing it.
05:51But I do think that there is a – you know, there's –
05:55the communication piece that we've harped a lot on is, you know,
05:58we've always viewed it as like, oh, we're pointing out the mic
06:02and pointing out the pressure and sliding it this way or sliding it that way.
06:05And a big part of it is, as I said last week,
06:08is to be able to spit out and communicate the offense in a consumable way.
06:14In the huddle, when there's not a lot of noise – I mean,
06:16when there's a lot of noise.
06:18You know, I think that could be a problem that's really slowing them down
06:23in the red zone because plays get kind of wordy down there
06:25in a sense of how you want to move guys around.
06:27They're not able to just line up and go, hey, man, we're going to run power.
06:30We're going to run short yardage, goal line power, right behind Trent Brown.
06:33You know, they're just not able to do that.
06:35So, I do wonder if the amount that they're asking C.J. Stroud
06:40to communicate in the huddle or in the moment may be a little bit extensive.
06:44So, again, I said last week, that's not a C.J. Stroud problem.
06:48That's a Nick Cayley C.J.
06:49They've got to find a sweet spot.
06:50They've got to find what they can execute and get communicated
06:54and make sure they're getting out of the huddle early enough.
06:57Yeah, text line coming in.
07:01B minus, too many field goals again.
07:04It's hard for me to go over a B when you're playing a team as bad as the Cardinals
07:09and you have to settle for five field goals.
07:11Listen, I told you I thought it was too many field goals.
07:15But, like, the opponent, there's a part of it.
07:19But, you know, Clint, you go out there and you –
07:22especially where this offense has been,
07:24to put together that type of performance and many times looking the way they did
07:29to be able to hit plays and to be able to do things.
07:33Really, like, right now with this offense and some of their struggles,
07:36like, the opponent to me is –
07:38I'm not about to just completely throw that in the trash.
07:41It's not like this offense is just like a juggernaut.
07:43We're like –
07:44Yeah.
07:44You have these certain expectations.
07:46I mean, yeah, the Cardinals are a struggle.
07:48But, I mean, let's just be honest, man.
07:50How many of y'all had them getting 40 in the game?
07:52I did not.
07:53Right?
07:53Like, you know, I mean, they kick five field goals.
07:56But, you know, five field goals don't get you 40.
07:59They got – you know, he threw three touchdown passes,
08:01even if it was against the Cardinals.
08:02So, you know, I don't – like, I can't get over a B.
08:06That's – you know, that's fine.
08:08Yeah.
08:08That's fine.
08:09Text line coming in, just win, baby.
08:11Field goals are part of the game.
08:12Yeah.
08:12Yeah, and many times with this defense, that can probably potentially be enough.
08:19But you just don't want to – you don't want to live on that.
08:23Again, big performance, though.
08:26260, three touchdowns, no picks.
08:28You'll take that all day long in a game from your quarterback, C.J. Stroud.
08:32A's over here for the most part.
