00:00We do this every single week at this time after the game on Sunday,
00:05and we go to C.J. Stroud's great, 713-572-4610.
00:10YouTube and Twitch, you can jump in on this.
00:12C.J. Stroud, 85-plus percent completion percentage.
00:17He was 23 of 27, 244 yards, four touchdown passes, no picks, no turnovers,
00:2630 yards rushing, and a quarterback rating of 143.9.
00:32And he did it.
00:34Again, the last two weeks he has looked like the cat from his first year.
00:40713-572-4610, YouTube and Twitch.
00:43What was C.J. Stroud's grade in your opinion?
00:46Clint, as you're a former quarterback in the league in college football,
00:50and you've watched this, you've coached quarterbacks,
00:53you're great for C.J. Stroud yesterday.
00:55Yeah, I got an A.
00:56I mean, really the only reason this was not an A-plus
00:59is because it's clearly one of the worst defenses in football.
01:02I mean, I got to reserve the A-plus for C.J. Stroud when it's either a shootout
01:07and he just blows the box score up and plays this efficient,
01:12or when the opponent is better and he goes out there and plays like this
01:18and wins a ballgame.
01:19So I've got to give myself a little room for the best C.J. performance that's possible
01:23to up the ante.
01:25So I just went with an A.
01:27This was an unbelievable game for C.J. Stroud.
01:31I mean, there was a little bit of everything.
01:3385% completion.
01:35It's a new career high, single-game high for him.
01:38And as I said earlier, look, he was flirting with 90%
01:41until that last drive and the protection broke down back-to-back plays.
01:45He was flirting with 90%.
01:46And it was a convincing 85%.
01:50It spread the ball around to all these different targets,
01:54you know, 10 different targets, eight different guys had catches.
01:58Again, I mentioned it a couple of times in the first segment,
02:01the committing to that death-by-a-thousand-cuts approach.
02:04For a quarterback that typically wants to sit in there
02:07and just aggressive, aggressive, aggressive,
02:09I think that's who C.J. is by nature.
02:12A moment when he can be aggressive but stay committed to the approach,
02:16I think, is absolute money.
02:17You look at how he played in the red zone.
02:21Yes, there were some throw in the oceans there,
02:23which is what you hope you get from Nick Cayley,
02:25but there were some tight window throws.
02:28The back-shoulder throw was absolute money.
02:32You know, I just think overall C.J. Stroud could not have played better football.
02:37I think the commitment to getting the football out,
02:41like the mid-range game, the play action, you know,
02:45play action to the right, quick glance throw to Nico to the left,
02:49a couple of different throws to Dalton Schultz,
02:54and I would call it the mid-range game, 10 to 15 yards.
02:58It's not like he was going out there
02:59and he was just really good in the quick game, right?
03:01This game didn't consist of many, if any, screens.
03:04So everything was literally a forward pass
03:06and everything was literally beyond the line of scrimmage,
03:08and he was elite in that mid-range game as well.
03:12And once again, when the shots were called
03:18and the shots were taken,
03:21they were in moments where, yes,
03:24they're lower percentage throws because they take longer
03:26and you've got to throw them further down the field.
03:28The further a ball travels in the air,
03:30the less likely it is to be caught, right?
03:31It's just common sense.
03:33The go-route to Nico Collins early in the game didn't hit it,
03:35but it was effective.
03:37I love that shot.
03:38The deep shot play-action shot to Christian Kirk
03:43was a throw in the ocean.
03:45That was beautiful.
03:46There was one more shot somewhere.
03:47I don't remember.
03:47Oh, the back shoulder to Hutch, which it was a dime.
03:54And so, yeah, man, I don't know that CJ could play any better personally.
04:00I think the opponent could be better
04:01and he could be forced to do a little bit more
04:03and maybe be better and be more aggressive
04:05because the game dictates it.
04:07But for me, man, this is about an A as an A can get for CJ Stroud.
04:11Yeah, I'll go full goal.
04:12I'll go A-plus.
04:13I get what you're saying from the opponent's standpoint.
04:17But, I mean, man, four tutties.
04:19He almost ran another one in and he used his legs.
04:25One time he made the decision to run on a third down
04:28and then ran it all the way down and nearly scored on it,
04:31but then didn't say, well, hell, man, I'm going to keep doing this.
04:33No, he didn't.
04:34He chose and was judicial with the amount of times he'd run,
04:39which was a good one for 30 yards, which is a good average right there.
04:44And like we said, man, the special skill that he has of just being able to put the ball
04:50where he wants to, we saw that in a big-time way.
04:54And that back shoulder throw to Hutch, the timing and everything was fantastic.
05:00His other touchdown to Nico Collins in traffic put it right there on the money for him to go get.
05:06So I thought he was strong.
05:09I'll give you an A-plus.
05:10Text line coming in, A-minus.
05:12Someone else, a solid A.
05:14That's an A-plus overall for CJ.
05:16That's how CJ will look with great protection.
05:19A-plus, eight straight drives with points, either seven or three incredible,
05:26no picks or fumbles.
05:28He looked great.
05:28No, I thought he did.
05:29I thought he was – I thought that was –
05:32two games.
05:34Really, the last – this game and then the last quarter,
05:38the fourth quarter of the Titans game,
05:40that looked like the CJ Stroud in which people were like,
05:44hey, man, this dude might be able to get up in here with the elite of the elite.
05:50That was – that's what we've seen the last couple of times.
05:54Ball not even hitting the ground damn near at all.
05:56It's only four –
05:57It looked like he was playing seven on seven, man.
05:59It did, man.
05:59He was comfortable and putting it on the money.
06:03All right.
06:03All right.
