Simu Liu spoke with The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet of ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.’
Transcript
00:00As a fan of Black Panther, what are you most excited to see this second time around?
00:04Yeah, or just like experience?
00:06I mean, I think in addition to just the spectacle of kind of any Marvel movie of this kind of magnitude,
00:12I think I'm especially looking forward to just watching the continuation of Chadwick's legacy
00:19and how the team, you know, tells that story, I think, through the trailers,
00:25through everything that people have been talking about.
00:28I mean, it's just such an emotional moment for all of us, for me personally,
00:32but also for so many people who loved him and loved the character.
00:36And so I think, yeah, you know, with a heavy heart, but also with excitement,
00:42I'm looking forward to just seeing that story play out.
00:46Absolutely. And you've been a part of, obviously, similar to Black Panther,
00:49creating so much more representation on screen in the Marvel Universe.
00:52What is that type of responsibility? How does that land on you? And how do you carry it?
00:58Well, I mean, I think what I'm reminded of more and more, especially being on this carpet,
01:03is I think the importance of allyship and the importance of coming together
01:07and celebrating not only our own cultures, but also each other's and each other's battles and fights.
01:12And I couldn't be more grateful to be here.
01:16And I know that, you know, I know that, you know, I very much follow in Chadwick's footsteps.
01:21So I'm very grateful that you made that comparison, and I'm hoping that I can live up to it.
