00:00The Degrassi revival is no longer moving forward at HBO Max.
00:04The show scored a series order back in January 2022,
00:08a few months before the merger between Warner Media and Discovery became final.
00:12Now, the Degrassi revival is another casualty of post-merger cutbacks at Warner Brothers Discovery.
00:18The new series, like its predecessors, would have followed a group of students and teachers
00:21who are, per the show's logline, living in the shadow of events that both bind them together
00:26and tear them apart.
00:27The show's description also said the series would travel deep into the hearts and homes
00:32of diverse, complicated characters, as they struggle to find their new normal,
00:36reaching for hope, redemption, and love.
00:38As part of the deal for the revival, HBO Max acquired 14 seasons of Degrassi The Next Generation,
00:44which ran from 2001 to 2015.
00:47Those episodes remain on the streaming service.
00:49Notable Next Generation alumni include Drake, who starred in the first seven seasons.
