The actor will return to his signature 'X-Men' role in the upcoming 'Deadpool 3,' star Ryan Reynolds announced Tuesday on social media. Reynolds also announced that the film will open Sept. 6, 2024.

00:15signature X-Men role, Wolverine. Reynolds and Jackman shared this video on social media
00:20announcing the news. Hey, Hugh. You want to play Wolverine one more time? Yeah, sure, Ryan.
00:26The clip also revealed that the film will be released on September 6, 2024. Jackman first
00:33played Wolverine in 2000's X-Men, the film that turned him into a global star. After 17 years and
00:39nine films, counting several cameos, Jackman officially retired from the role to much fanfare
00:45with 2017's Logan, in which the character was killed off. In a second playful video, the pair
00:50tried to clear up some questions about their character's reunion, like how is Wolverine alive
00:54after Logan? Logan takes place in 2029, totally separate thing. Logan died in Logan, not touching
01:01that. What actually happens in our film is... But as the two went on to explain, Wham's
01:08Wake Me Up Before You Go Go started playing.
01:10And the coast got higher when your loving starts. Do the boogie into my brain.
01:16So it looks like fans will just have to wait to find out what kind of trouble these two get
01:20into together. Deadpool 3 marks a full circle moment for Reynolds' Deadpool and Jackman's
01:24Wolverine, as Reynolds first played Deadpool in the 2009 movie X-Men Origins Wolverine.
