00:00If he's sleeping, we can hear it from the other side of the property.

00:07Anytime we got to his napping, I'd lay with him.

00:14For so many months, I spent 24 hours a day with this foal.

00:21He just likes to snore.

00:23He is one of the most affectionate horses.

00:27He's added to my best friend crew.

00:31Had Zerka not been saved, he wouldn't be here to make me laugh every day.

00:40His mom, she was pregnant, emaciated, and had a broken pelvis.

00:46I didn't know if Zerka would make it.

00:49I slept on the barn floor every night because I was scared the baby would get stuck.

00:54Five days later, she gave birth to a healthy baby boy.

00:59Have a baby boy!

01:02And then he fell very ill.

01:04So for three months, Mugatu was in and out of the hospital.

01:08I'm so sorry.

01:10I didn't know if he was going to survive or not, so I would nap with him around the clock, and he did.

01:16Why are you so cute, Mugatu?

01:22Mugatu, all he wanted was to play with his mom.

01:25Go, go, go! Go, go, go!

01:27And she would just stand there, because she couldn't physically do it.

01:31And then one day, something amazing happened.

01:43She started to trot.

01:46It blew my mind.

01:47She was strong enough to trot.

01:50And then she cantered.

01:55Out in the pasture with Mugatu, they were cantering together.

01:58We didn't want to encourage any movement that wasn't comfortable for her.

02:06So everything that she accomplished was on her own.

02:15For the very first time, mom and baby running through the pasture, side by side.

02:24She really taught me about personal parents.

02:28Xercus will, to keep going and push through this, was that she was carrying a baby.
